Everyday Tarot, 05/22/11: Believing What You Want / 7 of Cups

daily-tarot-forecast-seven-cupsI used to work in detox, and before that, a decade in mental health. I’ve had some education, training and plenty of experience dealing with all kinds of issues, substance abuse in particular.

But it wasn’t until I had to deal with it in my own family that I fully realized the power of denial. I used to marvel at the cluelessness “detox moms”–until I was one. Funny how much that can change, and how fast. Even having every advantage in identifying the signs, and it still took me forever to figure out.  I didn’t want it to be true hard enough to block it from getting in.

Vibrational Matches in Relationships (Law of Attraction)

Law-of-attractionRecently, vibrational matches in relationship came up. I have a working theory of how energy patterns mesh, based on observation, the Law of Attraction and stuff I’ve picked up along the way. Like attracts like.

Any time you’ve got two people with a big mismatch in their vibrations, it’s highly uncomfortable and one or both will end up moving toward the other position or to detach somehow. The more close and frequent the interactions, the more emotional ties, the “stickier” their energy is going to be to you.

At work, if you hang with people who hate their jobs, you’ll find yourself liking your job less; if not, you’ll start to feel trapped around the unhappy people. Other the other hand, if you spend time with people who love their work, you’ll feel more gratitude about your own. Or maybe your dissatisfaction becomes more glaring , prompting you to address it. Either way, the coming together highlights differences in a way they become uncomfortable to ignore.

Someone abusing drugs has very erratic energy. If you remain emotionally connected throughout an extended period, your energy becomes erratic, too. The drama and chaos leaks over, clogging up your own aura and leaving you drained, upset or sick. That’s why you need the boundaries.

When two people are closely partnered, they’ll tend toward the same vibrational range. They split when there becomes too much of a discrepancy. The bigger the discrepancy, the more emotional energy it requires to maintain connection.Of course, they could reunite, provided they managed to match up again closely enough. But it can be significant work realigning, so it seldom works well if both people are not committed to doing so.

The connection some feel toward ex-partners is fed by emotional energy (and can be felt from either side—you can “feel” an ex’s feelings about you and vice versa). So if you can’t get an ex out of your head, it could be because you’re in the ex’s head! To release, you have to refocus to shift your vibration off of that station. You then stop feeding the energy by adding your emotion into the loop, thus removing yourself and minimizing the vibration.

The people you always seem to “get,” the ones you feel most at home with, are ones who habitually vibrate in frequencies comfortable or pleasant for you. Vibrations vary with the astrology, activities, companions, and physical health, but I think most people have a set range, almost like a set-point weight, they tend to gravitate toward without undue effort. You can raise or relax your standard frequency based on how you recharge and emotionally feed.

Everyday Tarot, 05/21/11: Art of Manifesting with Inverted Nine of Cups

daily-tarot-forecast-inverted-nine-cupsBe careful what you wish for. You may get it. –English Proverb

After all, the grass is not always greener. It just looks that way from the other side of the fence. So why haven’t you manifested yourself a prettier lawn, grasshopper?!?

Today’s Tarot Forecast is the inverted Nine of Cups, or “Lord of Material Happiness,” associated with Jupiter in Pisces. Sometimes known as “The Wish Card,” it’s all about big (Jupiter) dreams (Pisces) coming to life! In the suit of cups (Emotion), we’re definitely talking wishes near and dear to your heart. Inverted, I’d say it’s not quite there yet, or something’s in the way. Uh oh!

Reading for Other Professional Readers

professional tarot readersI was chatting with another lady working at the psychic fair. We were talking about the “first fair experience.” It had made her nervous when other readers came to her for a reading. She could see who had abilities when they walked up, and at first it gave her performance anxiety.

“So I just decided not to pay any attention, none at all, and just do my thing,” she said. I thought it a sound conclusion.

I knew what she was talking about, though. I’ve gotten nervous, reading for people I know do readings professionally–and especially other card readers. I guess you always wonder about being “good enough” or something. It’s like you have to be better at it than they are, in order to justify your work.

Of course, that’s silly. Everybody brings something different to the table, because individual strengths are as unique as an individual Fool’s Journey. A lilac bush isn’t required to smell better than the roses to justify it’s place in the garden.

Not to mention, anybody who’s ever tried to read for themselves knows it’s far easier said than done. Emotional turmoil disrupts your radar something fierce, and even if you manage to get a good read, you wonder if it’s wishes or fears talking. It can be very hard to sort out.

Of course, the other thing about working in this business–many of your clients will have skills, sometimes well-developed. Those drawn to get readings are often the ones most capable of tuning in themselves. It’s the nature of the business.

I’ve reconciled this in my own head by always asking (and expecting) those coming to work with me are the ones most able to benefit. Then I don’t have to bother with the details. In every reading, I ask for information that’s accurate, helpful, and in the highest good of all concerned. It doesn’t matter how many avenues one has to get the info–only that it makes its way where it needs to go. I’m honored when I’m able to serve in that capacity, whomever it’s for.

Does reading for other readers make you nervous?

Everyday Tarot, 05/20/11: Misunderstood Strength / Queen of Swords

Queen of SwordsAs someone who counsels others, I’m not without awareness it’s a whole lot easier to give suggestions than to take them. Knowing intellectually and knowing emotionally are two entirely different animals, and the twain doesn’t always meet. Feelings are a strength, but it also takes strength to manage them!

Pendulum Video Demonstration

Here’s a video demonstration of how I use my pendulum to get simple answers (Yes, No, Sometimes, Undetermined). Pendulums do have different ways of indicating answers for different people, so work with yours until you feel confident of understanding it’s responses.

You can also dangle pendulums over maps or calendars to decide between locations or dates or whatever you fancy–just watch for where the pendulum starts to swing like crazy and that’s where you want to follow up.

While Quartz is probably most common, pendulums are made from variety of lovely gemstones. This one is Lapis Lazuli and I’m really loving it. Even though I often like to select gemstones in person, I have had good luck buying them online as well. I got this pendulum from a very nice witch in Texas.

Do you use a pendulum? Tell us about it!
