Everyday Tarot, 06/19/11: Guiding Your Horse / Page Pentacles

page-pentacles-new-visons-tarot-forecastDo the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. – Lao Tzu

Today’s Tarot is the Page of Pentacles or “Prince of the Enduring Hills,” associated with Earth in Earth. Where Tarot Aces are seeds of potential, Tarot Pages are seeds of manifestation—and in Earth, that manifestation is in the physical plane.

Sometimes, I let myself stay on a horse, long past the time it’s become clear we’re not headed where I want to end up—and never will. That’s a mistake.

But you know, there’s that temptation there—to give yourself lots of reasons not to do what’s to be done. “It’s too hard to turn back now. I’ve ridden too far. Maybe a new road will be discovered. I don’t want to upset the horse. ” The longer you do it, the longer the ride back is.

Track. And each time you get wind of what direction to go, do it. Don’t hesitate, don’t delay or second-guess or talk yourself out of anything. Every delay costs you down the road, a longer, harder journey, with interest. Stick close to your path now. You’re making the life you’ve been wanting real! That’s powerful. And the higher your sights now, the quicker and bigger that life will become. Hope to it!

Is life manifesting before your very eyes, too?

Everyday Tarot, June 11, 2011: Not Quite Married / Rev. 4 of Wands

IMG_1347Well, heck. We’re still in the land of “almost but not quite” happy cards, much like yesterday’s reversed Two of Cups. We can still work with this, though. Specifically, we’re looking to remove obstacles.

Today’s Tarot forecast is the inverted Four of Wands or “Lord of Perfected Work,” associated with Venus in Aries. This is love (Venus) demonstrated through action (Aries). Sometimes called “the Wedding card,” although it can refer to other milestones and events, or even a situation. As one of the Tarot Fours, we’re looking at stability, although seeing this card inverted, the idea we may be missing some little thing that prevents unfettered joy and comfort is a distinct possibility.

Me? Right now I’m feeling a little overloaded—my connections are worthy and worthwhile, and I have plenty of good in my life to be grateful for. But energy expenditures are not yet clearly  “married” to goals—my focus remains diffuse and scattered, not fully matching up with what I want to build. So you know, I’m happy, I’m doing well, but…I’m not quite where I want to be yet. My antidote here is prioritizing commitments according to my future focus—I’m putting together the life I want.

Are you feeling at home with your commitments?

Everyday Tarot, 06/10/11: Last Call / Rev. 2 of Cups

two-cups-reversed-daily-tarot-forecastSaturn (work, responsibility) is fixing to go direct in in Libra (partnership, balance) in a couple of days, and it’s a big deal. Saturn is a slow mover anyway, and in Libra, it’s sign of exaltation, there is particular opportunity for positive impact if you make good choices.

That makes today’s Tarot forecast is right on schedule!

We have the inverted Two of Cups or “The Lord of Love,” associated with Venus in Cancer. People prefer this card upright, but even reversed, it’s still not unpleasant energy to work with. You’ve got a primarily harmonious union that might just need some tweaking. It’s an “almost there” connection.

Saturn in Libra demands fairness above all else, if you want a positive outcome. Coming out of a a retrograde period, the time for review is ending, whereas the choices you make now will have significant impact on partnerships moving forward.

lastcallThe reversed Two of Cups reminds us to attend to our unions—discovering areas that are out of whack, lacking balance, distorted or off-kilter. The prescription for effectively working with Saturn energy is always more or less the same—do the right thing! Definition, boundaries and sustained efforts are primary tools for doing so.

If you consistently do your best to act with integrity, and only remain paired with others who do the same, you’ll be sitting pretty. If your relationships are not win-win, though, move fast to correct. It’s last call now and you don’t want to wake up all hung over in a strange bed, wondering where your pants went to.

How are you doing with your relationships?

Everyday Tarot, 06/09/11: Detail Fixation / Rev Knight of Swords

reversed-knight-swords-tarot-forecast-radiantBeing all Virgo like I am, I have a huge tendency to miss the forest for the trees. I can become so enthralled in pruning a particular bush that I’ll miss a brush fire a few feet over. But damn—doesn’t the bush look perfect?!

Today’s Tarot forecast is the inverted Knight of Swords or “Prince of the Chariot of the Winds, ” associated with Air in Air. He thinks, quite simply, too much! His thought go hither and yon, full of ideas and idealism, but sometimes lacking practicality. He can overthink. Inverted, he lets us know we don’t have to have all the facts to succeed in our quest.

The questions are more important than the answers. Specifically, the question of what you really want, not how you can orchestrate it. Don’t over-intellectualize. And forget perfect-case scenarios, trying to plot it everything out like a movie of the week. That doesn’t work well, what with so much of that pesky free will floating about.

Focus on the feeling, thus creating the vibration you’re seeking. Leave the details up to spirit. That allows for a flow you could never mastermind independently. This is how you get there.

Do you get sidetracked by the details?

Everyday Tarot, 06/08/11: Questionable Comparisons

daily-tarot-forcast-five-clouds“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.” –Zen Proverb

Today’s Tarot forecast is the Five of Clouds from Osho Zen, better known as the Five of Swords or “Lord of Defeat.” Tarot fives herald conflict, although this version doesn’t suggest the explicit conflict we would expect from the RWS Five of Swords. This is more like conflicting perspectives.

When you a compare a tree to a bamboo, which is better? The tree can hold a lot more weight, but the bamboo can bend without breaking. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. The superior of the two is the one best suited to your needs, you know?

Ask yourself if you’re making valid (and relevant) comparisons. Consider shifting your focus from what’s “better, best or right” in evaluating to what’s most needed, right now, what’s closest to where you want to go.

And if you’re not sure what’s better, wait. Truth outs itself in the end, and winning strategies become clear if you allow enough perspective to determine what tools are right for the job .

How are you, comparatively speaking?

Everyday Tarot, 06/07/11: Breaking Free! 10 of Fire

daily-tarot-forecast-ten-wands-osho-zenYou’ll hear Tarot people talk about repeats. Best I can gather, this is an extremely widespread phenomena, and not surprising. Tarot points out truth, sometimes loud!

But I’ve also noticed some repeats are deck specific— whenever I pick up Osho Zen, odds have been 50/50 I’m going to see the card for Today’s Tarot forecast.
