Drive Yourself: Tarot Forecast, Jan 16 – 22, 2017

One of the gifts I want to give myself  is a smoother ride, through life.

Happier. More joy. More connected. More in the flow, in the zone. More laughter. More freedom. More excitement. More fun.

Get the most out of this delightful experience.

And in the quest to hover on center, in day-to-day awareness, it’s becoming increasingly evident: the less I’m about campaigning the world to correct itself according to my specs, and the more I’m about just letting the rest of the world be as they will, the easier Zen comes. I guess stabs at controlling the inherently uncontrollable doesn’t contribute to Zen.

I don’t think of myself as being judgy or especially critical (because I’m not), but it can creep up sometimes in little ways. I’ll get the urge to set somebody straight either directly or even just in my head. I’ll notice I’m not feeling so good and say, “Hey, what’s up with this?!”

And I’m glad for each time it does. It alerts me to an opportunity to find more peace. It is a GIFT, getting that nudge.

‘Cause for the most part, I’ve learned to live and let live. I’m pretty damn good at it. But when I’m a little off kilter, even just a smidge, I’d like to know early on so I can make adjustments. I like to drive my own car, that way.

Theme this week is about who is driving the car. Who’s input are you seeking? Are you eyes on your own lane?

Monday, Four of Cups rx: With the giant hand offering a drink, this image suggests a potential for misunderstanding or delusions. Somebody is drunk. Dreaming it up or down, either one. Sometimes, people avoid acting on longstanding dreams because they don’t want to risk the possibility of losing the dream. This has kind of the same feeling. Some confusion or lack of clarity in terms of what you expect vs. future visions. Take it easy, slow and not too seriously today.

Tuesday, The Chariot: Awesome card here–a road opening, opportunities to make progress. Some movement may be indirect, sidestepping obstacles. But we have some open roads, so take the turn and keep going! Good day.

Wednesday, Ten of Wands rx: Delegate. Hand off responsibilities that are not yours–and expect any responsibilities that are really yours that have been handed off come home to roost. Do what’s your and let what doesn’t matter go.

Thursday, Three of Pentacles rx: Living by committee won’t work so well. Your choices may not sit well with the collective. If someone comes to you with their desires for you, acknowledge and appreciate the care that prompts it, and then go on and do what is in your own heart anyway. Do not try to control and do not allow yourself to be controlled. Acknowledge the good intentions while still making your own choices.

Friday, Tower rx: I’m seeing a stack of blocks that wobble but don’t fall. Weaknesses and issues with structure will be more visible than normal. Insights about circumstances that are “iffy” will be visible. You’ll be able to spot this today so use that info.

Saturday, Page of Swords rx: Running with scissors? Not the best plan. Words can come across more harshly than intended. Don’t worry about it. Just accept what’s useful, constructive, and discard the rest. Be aware, your own words may be heard more harshly than you were aware or intending. Mind your words.

Sunday, Ace of Swords: Clarity to end the week. Clear idea, communication, a clear message, a clear thought. Muddled info from earlier in the week should come into sharper focus. Good!

Overview/Advice, The Hermit:Bathing lady knows how to live it up! Any conflict and drama comes up? Step back. Takes some time for you. Don’t try to fix it, fix it, change it, change it. Step back and get clarity for yourself first, foremost and exclusively. You cannot impart clarity to others, you can only inspire it through your own clarity. So step back, retreat, and get a handle on your own grounding. Everything is easier when you’re grounded.

Affirmation: “If I am resisting ‘evil,’ I am attracting ‘evil.'” Maybe you don’t agree with this, but one version most will be able to see. If you’re very focused on a particular issue or worry, that issue becomes a bigger part of your experience and you’ll see it everywhere.  Whatever your major focuses of concern, you’ll be experiencing evidence of it, the essence of it becoming part of your day-to-day experience, because that’s where your focus is. The more you focus, the more momentum you add to the overall energy. It’s up to you to decide how you want to live. But it’s something to be aware of. You do not need to be absorbed in a problem to be a part of the solution–problems and solutions are very different energies.

If you’re bothered by the hate in the world, then talking about all the hate and sharing examples, and being outraged and upset does not drop the sum total of hate in the world, but does make it a bigger part of your in-the-moment experience. It immerses you in the very thing you don’t want. Whereas shifting focus to what you’d like to see instead–kindness and love and understanding–that is the energy of the solution. You are bathing in what you want and helping the collective make the shift by adding your light to the path, easing the way for those that would follow you.

Align with what you want, not against what you don’t.

That is how I’m looking to stay in my zone. Then it doesn’t matter, what someoone else believes. All that matters is if I’m living in close proximity to my own beliefs. If I want to see more kindness in the world, then I can be more kind. If I want to see more joyfulness in the world, I can actively participate in making some of that. I get to play in the energy I want more of, and be the change I want to see. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Starling Advice: Tarot Forecast, Jan 9 -15

Our office window birdfeeder has attracted a string of different birds, and I watch them come and go. Lots of finches, because hey, finches run in packs. The cardinals come, often both Mr. and Mrs. And just like old, married couples, they start to look alike after a while. The big blue jays that grab the big nuts and glide off. Warblers galore and beautiful bird songs off and on all day.

The Starlings have really been speaking to me, standing out. But then again, they were kind of born to stand out, no? With the iridescent sheen and the little dots like stars in the night sky, how could you miss them?

Starlings are known for being gregarious birds–and for their imitations. They imitate not only many other birds, but also mimic environmental sounds and have local dialects. They are studied for insight into the development of language.

And while they are fairly aggressive birds, they also know how to work in in a group. The grace of their flock dances defy description.

This is a week to be as the Starlings would suggest–be your beautiful, iridescent self, always. Of course. Don’t shy back and hide, but stay flexible in your communication. Keep your action in keeping with what you want to be about, you know? Going with the flow, (gracefully) is highly recommended.

Starling Advice: Tarot Forecast, Jan 9 -15 2

Lots of Pentacles coming up, with a smattering of swords. So we’ve got our primary focus on results, concrete, physical, flesh and blood manifestations. Not so much emotional focus or mental focus.Outcomes are emphasized over conceptual issues. So let’s dive in!

Monday, Nine of Pentacles rx:  Don’t nitpick. Upright, this card shows a very refined, clean approach. Reversed, something is not quite there yet, missing a little something. But relax into it and understand it’s a process, just like you’re a work in progress. It’s fine, wherever you’re at in it. Enjoy and appreciate what IS working right and don’t make a big deal about what is still coming into refinement.

Tuesday, Page of Pentacles: You will begin to get some clarity on the types of issues bothering you yesterday. The message will be recieved. Look for it and work with it.

Wednesday, The Empress: Great day for creative pursuits. The Empress is the Tarot mama. Great day also for self care (and isn’t creativity a form of self care)? Great day to make something, bake something, nurture someone else or yourself. A warm, fuzzy day. So enjoy it.

Thursday, Ace of Wands rx: May be a delay getting started on something you wanna get rolling. That’s okay! Don’t stress, just let it be. It will come together in time. Let it go and keep on doing what you’re doing.

Friday, Five of Pentacles rx: Possibility for overreaction. I’m seeing a kid crying themselves silly after dropping an ice cream cone. Overreaction to small losses due a limited perspective. However you feel is fine. I’m not saying to feel bad over how you feel. Just don’t amp up unhappy thoughts by playing them on autoloop. If you’re feeling like something is a really, really big deal today, fair enough. It matters because it’s important to you. But do what you can to soothe yourself and understand with a little perspective, you will see it differently.

Saturday, Three of Swords rx: Adjusting to something you want that feels missing. Reversed, it’s an opportunity for healing if you’ll allow it. It’s a choice, what feelings you ramp up vs. what you let go. It’s within your capacity and any rawness there is actually on the mend.

Sunday, Four of Pentacles rx: A little anxiety going down. It’s not necessarily based in reality. I’m seeing this as internal. Very much what’s going on in the head, not in the world. You may be anxious or there may be a rawness in the world at large. So look to soothe the anxiety without trying to take action to “correct” the situation.

Overview/Advice, Nine of Swords rx: Anxiety or guilt may be players, with some having difficulty sleeping this week. Let go as much as you can because the Self-Blame Express ain’t doing anything useful for anybody. If you do the “what if, what if, what if” disaster scenarios, stop! You’re amping up unrest. Try to catch yourself quickly before it picks up steam and is harder to redirect. And your week will feel so much nicer, even if the objective circumstances are exactly the same. Pretty neat trick, don’t you think?

Affirmation: When I reverse the thought, I reverse the condition. Sorry if you’re not a Law of Attraction person. But the idea is, there is nothing in life that cannot be changed. You use your emotions as your guide. For example, if you have chronic pain–it’s hard to ignore, in your face. You don’t have a choice as to where you are with that in the moment it’s happening, other than how you think about it.

You can have that pain and feel angry, scared, or frustrated. You can also have it and feel hopeful, believing it will get better, or intentionally distracted by other things. The pain may be the exact same physical manifestation, but the experience of it is much different. You may be in a place you don’t want to be. You can either suffer a great deal by dumping unhappiness on top of it, or you can reach for the best feeling, most optimistic thought you have access to. If you reach for better-feeling, what you live is the best you have access to in the moment. How justified any feelings are doesn’t matter pragmatically. If I’m choosing between justified anger or unjustified happiness? No contest.

Grab onto the best-feeling thoughts you have access to and ride them up. Over time it will raise your vibration and improve your experience without regard to outside conditions.You see how there is freedom in being able to always pull yourself back to center? Just keep bringing yourself back, bringing yourself back, again and again and you’ll find your life shifting in ways you really like.

Stay in the flow and you’ll fare well, even if it takes you a minute to realize.

Mood Management: Tarot Forecast, Jan 2 – 8, 2017

Sometimes when I’m out and about, people will come up to me to comment on my hair.

Some are complimentary, or they tell me I’m brave. That amuses me a little.

Because I’m not scared of hair color. I’m not scared of looking funny for a little while if something goes weird. But most of all (and what they are usually talking about), I’m not scared of other people disapproving of me.

Happens all the time.

Really, I like when that happens. As we live as true to ourselves as possible, others will disapprove. Which is quite convenient, if you ask me. The ones that don’t vibe with me get pre-sorted out, no fuss. They can be with their people and I, with mine.

Reactions are personal to the reactor, not the recipient. Reactions are never really about what that person is seeing so much as they are about how an individual interprets what they see. There is always a filter of belief coloring reaction.

We get to pick, what beliefs to hold. We get to filter the color of our own reactions. That’s a useful little trick, right there.

Mood Management: Tarot Forecast, Jan 2 - 8, 2017 3

My sense of the coming week is like subjectivity on steroids. It’s feeling watery as Hell. Whether one likes the sensation or not all that much, it behoves us all to wide whatever waves we’ve got as best we can, no? Plus we can get some fun out of the deal.

Monday, Ace of Cups. There is a bit of a feeling of a fresh start. Reflective mood. Where have I been? Where am I going? Time to consider where you’re at emotionally. Contemplation will come naturally.

Tuesday, Strength rx: Just a little bit of impatience. All those fresh starts of the New Year may just not be as instant as you’d prefer. To deal, focus on one thing, one area of attention, and in that area, take one concrete, tangible act. If you intend to keep a nicer space, don’t feel overwhelmed. Pick up one small area, and fix THAT. The feelings of being overwhelmed and impatient can be sidestepped by allowing yourself more breathing space. It will help.

Wednesday, Nine of Swords upright: Pegging this as worry. Suspicion or paranoia possible. Trust is a bit elusive. If anything is not clear to you today, let it sit and clarify. It will clarify and your perceptions may be murky. No need to jump right on top of ambiguous stimuli. A lot of unrest is internal, so let the fog clear before drawing conclusions.

Thursday, The Magician: The garden grows according to what you plant. The finished building runs according to the foundation you lay. What you have now is an outcropping of what you laid down initially. Realize where you are is according to how you lay down the foundation. Not from a judgey/self-critical space. From a standing-in-your-personal power space. Focus and prioritize feeling good to reclaim your power.

Friday, Page of Pentacles Rx: Easy to drop a detail. Easy to miss a little something or other. Doublecheck and take your time. Go back over plans and give ’em a second readthrough. Be flexible. I’m seeing lateness, little annoyances. Be prepared for minor slowdowns, one thing at a time, easy on the multitasking, things will go smoother. Potential for miscommunication, someone “not getting the message” so be aware.

Saturday, Two of Pentacles rx: Something could easily fall through the cracks. I’m seeing someone oversleeping their alarm, missing a plane, etc. Have backup plans in place, and give yourself space to pick up any dropped stitches because there will be some. Then you’ll be sitting pretty.

Sunday, Four of Pentacles: Some ups and downs throughout the week, but a lot of them are just perceptual. This some rest and ease in stability. Some rest. You can exhale today.

Overview/Advice, Ten of Cups: Have as much fun as you can during the week. Don’t judge on terms of outside conditions. Judge in terms of how you feel, and prioritize your feelings. Many times in the choice between looking for a thought that feels good vs. accurate assessments, we choose accurate because we don’t want to feel foolish. But I’d argue to always assume the best. Even if you know it’s not all warm and fuzzy, it’s okay to remember it has nothing to do with you. Put lots of emphasis on being as happy as you can and it will make motion forward much easier.

Affirmation: I can deliberately reach for joyous thoughts. You don’t have control over many outside conditions. There are lots of things any of us look at and will think, this can be better. We all have the choice, how involved we want to be in other people’s heads, or do we want to just reach for joyous thoughts? Every disaster thus far has worked out. Look at what you feel better thinking.

The quality of the experience is about mood managements. You may not initially think it’s within your control but it is.

Self-Contained. Weekly Tarot Forecast, Oct 3 – 9, 2016

One of those things I learned from parenting: there is no bigger setup for failure than trying to control someone else’s life.

Even if your intentions are golden.

Even if they’re headed for a big, fat brick wall.

Even if you’re “right.”

Your responsibility–or more accurately, your RIGHT–to run any life begins and ends with you. Nobody else but you. Not your kid or your mother or your brother or your high school classmate.

Just you.

Everybody has their own perspective. Everybody has their own thoughts and feelings and priorities. Unless someone is looking for your input specifically and explicitly, why try to force it upon them?

That’s what comes to mind, looking at this forecast.

The week begins in fits and starts. There’s a tendency to rescue others, or be more accurate, TRY to do so “for their own good.” There may be questions about how others are going to manage this or that and the feeling like you must involve yourself because, well…you are the only one who can step in and fix for them.

That’s not a good idea. But you know that, right?

You do nobody any favors when you look to be their strength. Instead, see the capacity in them, help remind them of their own strength and stand the Hell back out of their way while they find their own footing. Your job, and your only job, is to find your footing. Not your neighbors.

Sunday, The Moon: Good possibility some of the info you run across today may not be entirely accurate. Doesn’t have to be a big deal, but there is a blurring of truth here. No drastic action. Good day for imaginative projects, or watching movies. Reading fiction, too.

Overview/Advice, Knight of Cups rx: The theme of this forecast is check your emotions and go slow in emotional matters. Knee jerk reactions are not your friend, so don’t be in a hurry to resolve. Take your time. Be easy and gentle. Pull back and soothe yourself when you are feeling emotional, to get centered and grounded before moving. Or opening your mouth!

Affirmation: We are each responsible for the thoughts we think. Sometimes we try to dazzle others with facts, facts, facts, reasons, reasons, reasons, emotional appeals, etc. It’s not your job or my job to convince anybody else. It’s our job to think our own thoughts and let others think their own thoughts. Think thoughts that keep you calm, centered and in a good, appreciative state. That’s ALL you have to do. You’ll connect with those whose vibes match you. However it works out, it’s okay. All you have to do is feel as good as you can and everything else goes smoothly.

Look to be self-contained this week, emotionally. Not that you don’t love beyond yourself or you don’t enjoy some awesome connections, too. That’s a good thing. But in terms of stability, happiness, your emotional state, making decisions and whatnot? Look within and don’t meddle. Self-contained is your keyword here.

Looking for What You Like: Tarot Forecast, Sept 26 – Oct 2

Back in the days when I worked in an office. I liked to give out cards at Christmas. Maybe stick a candy cane to them or something. But the real gift was the note inside.

For each person I worked with, I would spend a little while and write out a handwritten note of appreciation, mentioning something I particularly liked or enjoyed about them. I wanted each note to be personal, and completely heartfelt.

Sounds lovely, huh?

But you know the problem with that, right?

There’s always “that one guy,” or “that woman…” agh! The one that gets under your skin and drives you crazy.

“I don’t wanna do a note for So-and-So,” I’d think, a little belligerently, to tell the truth. Except it would be pretty rude to hand out sweet notes to everybody but that one.

This meant a few of my cards took an extra long time to compose. These challenging cards required me to step outside my ego a little bit and relax the defensive stance long enough to find something true, uplifting and kind in my heart to say about the somebody who absolutely drove me batty.

Funny thing, about those tough-to-write notes? While my notes were well received in general, the hard ones were the best received and without exception, my interactions always improved after writing one of those harder notes.

This week is a lot like that. Look for what you like–even if it’s harder to see than what’s in your face–and you’ll do well.

Monday, Future – Four of Wands rx: Don’t run too far into the future, in your head. Don’t make a big deal out of, “Where is this going, where is this going, where is this going?” There is a lot of wiggle room in the energy right now. Wrong turns may be just the break you need. So get your chill on.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Knight of Pentacles rx: It’s okay to want what you want. More money, more stuff, more friends, more comfort. It’s ALL okay to want, whatever it is you want, for yourself, without guilt. Your suffering does not add to the life of another. Lifting up yourself is contributing to the whole at the same time. If you find yourself fussing about wants, allow yourself the space to like what you like without guilt. Appreciate what is already around you; that will clear up any wobbles in your vibe in very short order.

Wednesday, What to Avoid – Ace of Cups: Normally, the Ace of Cups would be a small feeling, one that’s just taking root. So practice an awareness of your emotions. If you find yourself out of emotional sorts, actively look to soften that emotion and get re-centered. So back off from the specific negatives to more generally negative…to more generally positive. Any uncomfortable emotion, look to soften it up in the early stages before it gets bigger.

Thursday, Cons & Friendships – Two of Wands rx: Be aware of the egos of friends – or how they may step on your ego’s toes. There is no need for everybody to see things the same way. Your job is not to set anyone else’s vision. It’s to be true to your own vision. Today, the work is not to gain widespread agreement. The work is to live what you know.

Friday, Lesson – Empress: Nurture yourself! Self-care is awesome. Arts and crafts, or any kind of creative project, is especially rejuvenating. Soothe yourself and be gentle with you.

Saturday, Problem – The Fool: This combination says, the issue is what you don’t know. Your job is to gather more info. It’s a day for fact finding.

Sunday, Finances – Death rx: Ugh! No, I’m not going to say, “Your bank account looks like death warmed over.” Because, c’mon! But I will say, if you have been working on finances? You’ve made strides. To go further, add more harmony in your life and less discord. Don’t fight about money with anybody. Out loud or in your head, don’t bother with how anybody else believes money should be spent. Look for areas of agreement, and ignore other stuff. Think of a field that’s been burned out, with new seedlings germinating and popping up. It takes time, so be patient! Let it be and it will shift.

Overview/Advice, Blocking or Covering – Page of Wands rx: Stress from people pulling different ways this week. Don’t be overbearing in advocating for your opinion or option. You don’t have to agree with everybody or anybody. Just look to understand other perspectives. That is enough.

Affirmation – The better it gets, the better it gets. You will find what you’re looking for. So if you’re looking for ways to correct you kid, you’ll find issue after issue after issue to correct. If you’re looking for awesome things about your kid, you’ll find that, over and over and over, again too. Look for what you love. Don’t push against anything this week. It’s fine, not to find harmony with everybody and everything.  Just look for what you like. And have an awesome week!

Now, Now, Now. Unconditionally. Tarot, Sept 12 – 18

Lately, I’ve been looking to be a lot less “conditional.”

We use the word “unconditional” often without really thinking about what it means. It’s because a little automatic–so I’ve been looking to reconnect with the concept.

“Unconditional: not subject to any conditions. Wholehearted, unqualified, unreserved, unlimited, unrestricted,unmitigated, unquestioning;
complete, total, entire, full,absolute, out-and-out, unequivocal.” – Google’s definition

Unconditional happiness. Unconditional love. Unconditional appreciation.

Do you see the freedom in that? Can you get a whiff of it?

I can love everything and everyone! Whether they are nice to me or others or not. I can appreciate the good without condemning what I see as flawed. I can find things to appreciate no matter what the circumstances of my life or anything else.

The bonus bit is that finding your way to an unconditional state of joy and anticipation and appreciation actually puts you into the “sweet spot” for manifesting more pleasing conditions. It moves your personal vibration to match the conditions you like. As long as you don’t stop to take score every two minutes (and match your vibration to “not there yet, not there yet, where is it, not there yet), just revel and roll in the unconditional feelings, you’re on your way!

With the forecast for the coming week, I’d say it’s a great time to practice being less conditional. The week will flow a whole lot smoother and you’re fare better than people who are looking out their windows before deciding how they feel about the energetic weather. Set the tone yourself deliberately, and let life follow your lead.

This week has a slow motion feel to me, kind of like moving through a heavy mist. Emotions are prominent, so take care of yours by being kind to yourself. Much easier to sidestep outbursts that way–hopefully not your own! (Also? Big emotion doesn’t equal “bad week” to me. It does, however, point to a powerful week. Aim your emotions at what you want instead of what you don’t and let this give your desires a boost towards realization.)

I’d strongly advise you to stay in the present and look for what feels good right NOW. And now, and now and now. Not so much attention wandering off into the future or back into the past. I’m seeing someone hiking up a rocky path, looking down frequently to be sure of their footing. If they were trying to monitor other hikers, see how it wouldn’t be as helpful? Walk your own path. Don’t worry about anybody else’s path. Just yours.

Monday, Six of Swords Rx: You’re moving, even though it’s pretty slow and not completely the direction you’d prefer. Acknowledge the progress, will you? It helps. Even if the progress doesn’t feel directly forward, it is moving and that’s better than stagnation. Line up your energy with where you want to go.

Tuesday, Six of Pentacles Rx: Tendency to assume the worst, about the self or others. Don’t fall for it! It feels a whole lot better to assume the best and it helps you stay on track.

Wednesday, Death:  Not an easy day. Sorry! Death usually speaks to very deep change, where the rotted and broken get rooted out. But it’s often an uncomfortable process. There’s a lot of power in it and it has it’s place in the life cycle. However, may not be your favorite.

Thursday, Seven of Cups: Not all is necessarily how it appears on the surface. Time will flesh out the details (read: accurate details) so just take it slow and easy, slow and easy.

Friday, Ten of Cups Rx: You can see the same scene, looking at what bothers you or looking at what fills your heart. Totally different experiences, right there. You probably know where my vote is so just remember, today it’s your vote that counts. Happy eclipse (she says unironically)!

Saturday, Strength Rx: Give it a rest, whatever “it” is. Take the day off from fussing.

Sunday, Eight of Swords: All the limitations are self-imposed. Of course, they always are but they often don’t feel that way.

Overview/Advice: Chariot Rx: Continue to take a light touch and indirect route, of that’s the path of least resistance. Not a week to push, push, push. There’s enough of that going on already! Good time to stay in your own lane, too. Lots of backseat drivers on the road and that’s not helping. Stay aware of your goals, yes, but don’t try to force anything.

Affirmation: Words do not teach. Life experience teaches. Obviously, we cannot talk anyone else into doing what we find right. Hell, we don’t know that for anybody else, anyway. Each of us has one and only one path we have rights to navigate, thank you very much. Look at others in their strength, their connection, and see their ability. You can hold that vision in your heart, solid when the others are not feeling it as much. And you can live your own life, never beating up on yourself for what you didn’t know then or “should have” understood or figured out or whatever. We are where we are where we are and it’s the perfect place for us to be. It has to be perfect, because it is where we are.

Be in the now and be kind there–to others, yes, but first to yourself. That is what makes radiating that kindness outward possible.
