Condensed Soup: Weekly Tarot Forecast, Dec 21-27

Some of the most intensely fruitful periods of my life, growth-wise, understanding-wise, finding-peace-wise, have been the most difficult.

Surely it’s not a surprise. And it’s cold comfort when you’re in the middle of it. But again and again and again, it happens the same way. It’s that damn pressure that forms the diamond.

I’m expecting pressure, incoming.

Weekly Tarot Forecast, December 21, 2105

Looking like a Major Arcana sort of week! As in, 5 of the 8 cards are majors. In everyday terms, that means the stuff we’re dealing with is likely to have significant impact, not trivial, but serious, hard hitting. Does this surprise anybody? Sky watchers, I know you are already hip. Winter solstice and a full moon this week. Bam! Balance is an ongoing theme this week. We’re looking at a cycle of release and readjust, release and readjust. Sort of like what life is about generally, except condensed. There is soup this week and it is condensed soup!

Merry Christmas.

Monday, Find Balance – Two of Pentacles: Evaluate what you need to manage, and what it takes to manage it. This means releasing that which is not essential. Even if you thought it was essential before, is it? Don’t beat yourself up for not being able to finish everything. Because it’s likely you simply will not be able to anyway. Just do a little of everything, and keep things spinning, okay?

Tuesday, Release – Hanged Man: Let go of the inner control freak, right here and right now. What you cannot control, just pray and let it go. That really is your best bet today. And you know what? Leaving it to Spirit, the Universe, God, or just somebody else to handle does provide relief.

Wednesday, Shine – The Sun: Soak yourself up in some happiness. Outside? If it works. Inside, otherwise. But look to add a big dose of joy to your day. Treats, movies, hugs, art. I don’t care what you do. Just do it!

Thursday, Balance – Temperance: Opportunities for unique solutions taking into account all sides of the coin may present. This is another call for balance, as well as compromise.

Friday, Clarity of Belief – Ace of Swords: Feeling thoughtful? Focus on what’s truly meaningful in your life. Good energetic weather for realigning priorities. Clarity is there, if you truly seek it. Merry Christmas!

Saturday, Helpless and Hopeless – Eight of Swords: I’m feeling this as sadness about what’s lost, with a side of, “How do I go on now?” Feel whatever it is you feel. As if you could do anything else. But don’t fight it. Really, that’s the only way through it. And if you open yourself up to all the feelings, you can generally see which restrictions are real versus which are self-imposed.

Sunday, Heal – The Star: Lots of sleep, healthy food, water, and love are all great investments today. A chat about possibilities with a trusted partner works, too. If that doesn’t play out for you, have that chat with yourself. Welcome optimism back.

Overview/Advice, Manifest/Third Eye Chakra – The Magician: Keep bringing your attention back to seeing what you want–not in the delusional sense, in the acknowledgement sense. In the “driving your own experience” sense.

Affirmation: I will not attempt to control others’ experiences. [Recent repeat.] This one doesn’t need a lot of explanation. Honestly, we cannot even control our own experiences completely. How are we going to control anybody else’s? I am also big on the notion we simply don’t have the right. Self-determination is central. It’s how we learn, how we grow and it’s a very personal business. I know a lot of people who “know” what’s right for me, most of whom I do not agree with.

[bctt tweet=”Even if you don’t respect the choices, honor the right each has to walk their own path.”]

Most of us are doing the best we can. Some are not perhaps, but it’s not like we have an outline to what’s going on in someone else’s head or heart to know for sure. More importantly, it’s not our business. Watching over my own pot of condensed soup is plenty enough for me!

Is your life a little like condensed soup right now?

It’s What you See – Weekly Tarot Forecast, Nov 2 – 8, 2015

I was uncharacteristically fussy last week. Whiney even.

Of course, I’m as human as anybody else and I can get stressed and fret. There’s nothing wrong with having those feelings. But I wasn’t shedding them as quickly and efficiently as I normally do. I was not letting go–massaging them and looking at them from every angle and in general, just working them way too much.

Even I was getting tired of listening to me!

Towards the end of the week, I decided to shift my focus. Enough already! The next day, the Universe tested me with a couple of vandalized tires crapping out on the way to a Tarot gig. I had even gotten up on time, damn it!

I am proud to say I overcame the fussy and was able to go on to give some awesome readings the rest of the day.

It wasn’t just what happened to me. It was how I was thinking about it. This week? A lot like that.

weekly tarot forecast

Looking over the forecast as a whole, there’s unquestionably an edge to the coming week. There is a sense of tiredness here, and I expect some emotionally sticky moments without a doubt. I am thinking Wednesday will be the most challenging although throughout the week, it’s going to be vital to keep a tight grip on your perspective.

In particular, don’t focus exclusively on what you feel is lacking. That’s a prescription of a sour mood if I ever saw one. Keep coming back to that thought this week, every time you feel frustrated. Ask yourself: Am I focusing on the lack? What do I still have? What can I be grateful for instead?

See if you can shift your focus to blessings, to plans, to what you CAN do, what you DO have. If you take nothing else from this forecast, keep that thought in mind and it should carry you through!

Monday, What to Let Go of in the Future – Emperor Reversed: That drive for control? Micromanaging–or rather, trying really hard to micromanage others via stunning wit or even your life via perfect planning? Totally not working. And you know it. If anything, it’s turning your hair gray and making you crankier than an old lady who hasn’t had her coffee. Let it go, Grasshopper. Let it go. Control is mostly illusion anyway.

Tuesday, What to Take From the Past – Ace of Swords: Clarity, clean and sharp focus. I’m thinking of the 18-year-old about to graduate high school, full dreams and certainty. I mean, you sort of want to laugh in that fresh little face–so cute, all that certainty! (But you don’t laugh, because it’s mean.) The cluelessness, sure, we don’t need that. But that energy young people so often have, with such a singleness of focus, the drive and even to some extent even the idealism where things are so pure and simple? We could stand a little bit of that, even a long way south of 18.

Wednesday, Crossing – Death: It’s not an easy time. That’s all. Big transitional energy that’s heavy and hard sometimes. That’s what’s weighing many people down. Understand it doesn’t last forever and be kind to your fellow humans because even if you’re not weighted, they might well be. Great day to purge anything symbolic of what you’d like O-U-T-out of your life! Scrape up the gook and dispose of it.

Thursday, Heart of the Situation – Ace of Cups Reversed: All things appearing as bigger than they are due to emotional drain. Like those funhouse mirrors? Take some downtime if you can. Dream a little. Be kind to you.

Friday, Surprise – Page of Pentacles Reversed: Details are less important than they may have initially appeared. Early day off work? Do be sure and track expenses, though, as we don’t want today’s surprise to be coming up short on cash. Okay?

Saturday, Mind – Eight of Wands: I don’t know! Not me, as in Dixie doesn’t know. That’s what this card says, in the position of mind. It’s a mind not yet made up.

Sunday, Romance – Five of Pentacles: There’s love available for you but you may not be feeling. If you need a hug, you will have to ask for it directly. Love and mind-reading are two different things. Make your desires explicit.

Overview/Advice, Underlying Influences – Four of Cups: This is a week pitting experiences against expectations. It’s a little harder because it looks to be challenging to judge at points what is reality versus what is interpretation. I want to fall back on some of my old standbys: don’t date potential. Don’t expect other people to be you. Give yourself space to think, to grieve, to get quiet, and to know your own mind. Let emotions flow, to you and through you. If in doubt, nap it out.

Affirmation: When I reverse the thought, I reverse the condition. That sounds like a load of Law of Attraction crap, doesn’t it? Ha! Well, this is from the Abraham-Hicks deck but y’all know me. I have mixed feelings about the Law of Attraction as is generally postulated in popular culture. However…your experience IS highly dependent upon your interpretation of it. Let’s say your car breaks down. Okay, that’s no fun. But whether it’s a world-ending tragedy or a minor blip in your life depends very largely upon how you think about it. So while changing your thoughts will not pay the car repair bill, they can move you from a place of victimhood to gratitude, that these are the kind of problems you have: solvable.

In every bitter pill, there is some blessing. I’m not saying ignore the hurts and struggles. I’m saying don’t put them in the center of your life. Ground yourself in blessings and love, and let the struggles be but a small part of the overall picture. Okay? It’s all about the perpsective!

Are you in a transition?

Do and Process: Weekly Flow Tarot, Apr 27 – May 3

Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast

It can take weeks, months, or years to fully grasp the impact of transitional events. This week looks sort of like one of those “getting it” weeks to me. I’m seeing a call to surrender, letting the Universe have it’s way. I mean, it’s going to anyway. So do you want to be swimming upstream against that?

The Tarot Tens are really jumping out and saying, “Hello!” Tens can be an almost overwhelming vibe in Tarot, as they are the culmination of much energy built up and manifest in the solid, signaling endings that ultimately are what allow for new beginnings.

That means we’re still in our cleaning and purging cycle. We have mostly wands and swords, so we’ll be splitting up energy between thinking and doing. Do and process, do and process.

Monday, Heartache and Loss – Two of Cups: Well, Ouchie Monday, right there! I don’t think we’re  talking about actual loss of love. This looks more like feeling lost, sadness over an emotional disconnection or missing someone. Feeling an absence of some sort. And while there is discomfort, there are also advantages. Very helpful to realize this–or realize the feeling is coming from within, if that’s the case.  One of my keywords for the two of cups is “harmony.” How does the feeling of harmony factor in to your life, right now?

Tuesday, Partnership & Alliance (Sacral Chakra, Throat Chakra) – Queen of Wands: I didn’t pull out the chakra cards from this deck and they wanted to come out and play. So, especially in all joint ventures, speak clearly, speak true and speak from the heart. Consider what gives you joy and feeds you creatively as relevant! This Queen is a very passionate woman, true to her identity and ideals.  She means what she says. So that’s your goal for today: say what you mean and mean what you say.

Wednesday, Movement, Choices, Decisions – King of Wands Reversed: Progress has that pesky habit of not abiding by your timetable. Nothing to do but feel gratitude for what you’ve got thus far and keep rolling with it. The King of Wands always lands on his feet, eventually! Spend some time feeling good about progress before making decisions today. This helps shift your energy into a positive frequency, which leaks all over to everything you do in that state. It’s actually a pretty cool trick.

Thursday, Recognition and Reward – Ten of Swords: Acknowledgment from the heavy lifting you’ve done in the past. This can be external – serving as an inspiration through your battles. Or internal, as in seeing the incredible gifts you’ve managed to extract from tumultuous transitions. Acknowledge what has made you so much stronger.

Friday, Disruption – Ten of Pentacles Reversed: May be a minor disappointment with a family member, or feeling like a partial disappointment to your own family. Don’t sweat this too much. Even reversed, this is a very positive card. It’s possible the disappointment is imaginary, even. Another way this could manifest with someone’s “perfect family” or “perfect life” that really isn’t. Keep in mind, perfection isn’t a realistic goal to strive for…improvement is. Excellence is attainable.

Saturday, Power – Ace of Swords: Rescued from any of the week’s fears, doubts or disappointments by the Ace of Swords: one clear idea. A single thought, understanding or concept can really give you power right now. If you’re not sure where to find it, give yourself some quiet time to listen.

Sunday, Conflict & Defeat – Ten of Wands: Are you overcommitted, overbooked or overwhelmed? Damn. This combo really makes me want to eat some comfort food and follow up with a nap. Consider that an official recommendation.

Overview/Advice – Seven of Cups: External appearances may be misleading…or not. That’s the thing. You don’t know! Sometimes, what feels like the worst thing in the world ends up becoming your greatest blessing. Sometimes that beautiful blessing ends up having unmanageable baggage. The key to getting the most out of whatever life experiences come your way is practicing detachment.

Affirmation: Archangel Raphael: “Give your cares and worries to us angels, and allow us to take your burden.” Now, whether you believe in literal angels or not, you can still release your fears to God, or the Universe, or the fates, or your higher self–whomever or whatever you consider as the powers that be.

This week is a call to gain perspective. We’re reaching for a new clarity on old business and there is no way to do that AND stay married to your current storyline, driven to maintain a certain narrative. Instead, observe and release. Observe and release. Allow whatever feelings that arrive to surface and let them flow through (and out) of you. That’s the way you make leaps forward. You cannot jump way ahead if you’re holding up the wall where you stand.

[Dixie: Specializing at torturing metaphors until they scream, all for your reading pleasure.]

If you’re ready, the light could really come on this week. It won’t come through struggle, though. It will come via surrender, allowing clarity to emerge on it’s own time, wading through the outgoing reality until you make it through to the other side.

Do and process, do and process.

How’s your week looking?

You know, it’s been a while since I’ve done anything with the Transparent Tarot and I miss it. That deck is incredibly direct, and it can just sing sometimes. So I’ve been thinking about doing some work with it.

And I just realized that my website forms were NOT working right…ack! Once I fixed that up, I decided to do a special to celebrate.

So for at least a week, I’m taking focused questions for a Transparent Tarot to do it’s bang-on magic, $20.

Revisionist History: Weekly Flow, January 19 – 25

forecast 002

Many years ago, I went to a reader at a psychic fair and asked my favorite question to ask of readers: “What do you see regarding my spiritual development?

Am I doing it right? Am I missing something? Am I progressing fast enough?

It seems those questions never go away completely, at least not for me. Because I try to follow the dots, I try to do what I’m led to do when I’m led to do it, but it doesn’t always work out “right” by my expectations. It feels like failure, but that doesn’t mean it is failure.

Almost 10 years ago, I got the opportunity to buy a low carb community. I had all the signs there, clear as day, in my face obvious, this was the right choice, so I did it. Enthusiastically and with both feet, I jumped in! A couple years of relentless work went by and I was incredibly disappointed, in both myself and my spiritual support system, when that venture didn’t end up as successful as I’d hoped.

That path, however, branched out in ways I could not have anticipated. It pushed me to expand my knowledge base and skillset way beyond my comfort zone.  More recently, that chain of circumstances has left me managing a sizable low carb Facebook page, at a time when I’m getting clear signs I need to attend to my own eating habits and health. Not wanting to be a big, fat hypocrite, I have very much cleaned up my own act. Had I not found myself at the helm of that community now, I’d probably still be eating junk.

So I could say that initial decision was a failure. Or I could say, it gave me exactly what I needed, even when I had no idea I needed it. There have been SO MANY times, so many projects and plans and ventures, that have gone down exactly the same way. It’s almost as if the Universe conspired against my will to look after my best interests and turned “failures” into big, fat blessings. When I manage some perspective, I can begin to see at least some of the many layers I would never have been able understand at the time.

There are echos of the past ringing throughout this weekly forecast, along with the ability to redefine some of that past. While I’m usually not a big fan of revisionist history (in the self-serving sense), this week it can work in your favor—not by denying what’s come before so much as reframing it. Reframing your history is an incredibly powerful tool. It’s a good week to wield it to your advantage.

When I did the draw for last week, I felt the urge to do a second for this week. I noticed we got the same affirmation (after shuffling). That suggests this week is a continuation of last week’s vibe. Hello, Mercury retrograde (Jan. 21 – Feb. 11, 2015)!

Monday, What you Can Change – Ace of Swords Reversed: You can change how you think, and what you accept as immutable reality. Really, one single thought, a core concept reversed, will put everything else in an entirely different framework. It’s a day to question assumptions and convictions to see if they hold up. Whatever you’ve just decided is, well, is it?

Tuesday, Friendship – Nine of Pentacles: A world of education at your fingertips, courtesy friends. If you are having trouble mastering your lower impulses especially, friends can provide a veritable how-to manual. Even if you don’t ask for advice directly, look for instruction on dealing with your own situation by how your friends have dealt with their life.

Wednesday, Romance,  Queen of Cups Reversed: Connections are intact and strong, but I’m expecting excessive sentimentality and/or out-and-out moodiness with this Queen on her head. Tears are quite possible. A hot bath and (maybe) a glass of wine will soothe jangled nerves. Regardless, know the emotional intensity is a passing thing. Don’t treat it as permanent. Just let it flow through you and run it’s course.

Thursday, Career – Emperor Reversed: Work mate says, “You’re not the boss of me.” Not a good day to play dictator with coworkers! Possibly, there is a boss that lets things get out of hand. As far as you are concerned, keep yourself in check with work-related issues. Self-control is the name of the game and personal responsibility pays dividends.

Friday, Success – Six of Pentacles: Generosity pays off today. You may be either benefactor or donor, but group endeavors and giving of your time, energy or money has rewards. This is the magic that brings it all together. Yay!

Saturday, Past – Eight of Cups Reversed: Eh…echos of the past. What do you claim to “be over” but aren’t, completely? This floats in your brain. There may be triggers, there may be tears. Don’t be frustrated that that emotional history is not scrubbed clean from your life. It’s not a sign of weakness, dealing with past issue. It’s a sign you’re strong enough to continue your work at a higher octave.

Sunday, Blocking or Covering – Strength: This is the note that plays in the background throughout the week. Slow, gentle, steadily dealing with each day, each feeling, each challenge as it arises. Going into a Mercury Retrograde the 21, we’re clearly reviewing the past but as dull as that sounds, it’s got an enormous perk: We have a chance to adjust it’s meaning! That is a wonderful, if sometimes underappreciated, gift.

Overview/Advice – Five of Pentacles Reversed: Stop focusing on what you don’t have for God’s sakes! Go back to focusing on what you do. How you view your station is utterly and completely your own choice and while a perspective of lack drains you, a perspective of gratitude feeds you. Be willing to reach out for support when you need it, all while retaining responsibility for your own damn self.

Affirmation – I am safe in the Universe and all life loves and supports me. What needs to happen, happens. The Universe has your back.

Altered Plans: Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Dec 8–14, 2014

Tarot Flow Dec 8 -14

Do you set intentions for full moons? I do, most of the time. For the recent Gemini moon, I wanted to release what doesn’t serve. This intention fits into my life on multiple levels and to be frank, I don’t have the time or energy for what doesn’t feed either me personally or my goals on a larger scale. Not in the budget anymore!

This week’s Tarot flow forecast? It brings that intention to mind. This is a very practically-oriented spread, with the final goal being to take action. Move! I like that. We’ve got a mix of Majors, Swords (thoughts) and Pentacles (practicalities), with that Ace of Wands (action) as “goal” for good measure. Overall, I expect it to be an productive and well-rounded week.

Monday, Positive Influences – Justice: Balance, fairness and weighing out the concerns of all parties is the way to begin the week. This will set the stage well for the days to come. This would be an excellent time to clarify goals.

Tuesday, Immediate Future – Ace of Swords: You do NOT need the long term figured out right now. But you do need at least one clear, rational strategy to build from, right now. You’re not looking to ride it into next year or next month or even next week, necessarily. You want an idea that takes care of what’s needed in the moment, today and tomorrow. For now is what we’re shooting for.

Wednesday, Relationship – Temperance reversed: I am expecting ongoing adjustments in relationships. Not all knowledge and experience is fully integrated, but hey. We’re working on it! Consider both practical, psychological issues as well as energetic issues. It may seem the two are unrelated, but in reality they are two sides of the same coin.

Thursday, Advice – Knight of Pentacles: The Knight of Pentacles can be a bit OCD, and he’s definitely one to review and categorize. He’s also a very hard worker and sometimes, a bit too serious. His appearance as advice would suggest going over the details, double-checking your facts and plan it out. Things may not go according to your plans, mind you. Truth is, some will not. But you’re still better off here not leaving everything up to chance and doing what you can to make sure all is where you want it to be.

Friday, Hobbies and Talents – Nine of Swords: Anxiety with a side order of guilt is getting in the way of self-expression. Are you self conscious about how others perceive your efforts? Are you prone to feeling guilty for resources you devote to yourself? Because that’s what this looks like to me. Don’t use hobbies to cut yourself off from the rest of the world, either; there is often a sense of isolation that accompanies this card. Also? Getting enough sleep boosts your creativity.

Saturday, Friendship – Ten of Pentacles reversed: Friend serve very important and valuable functions, but do not single-handedly take care of all your emotional needs. Because you know what? That is totally an inside job!

Sunday, Goal – Ace of Wands: The goal here, to begin creation! It’s like the entire week is a buildup to manifesting, setting the stage. Monday, we get grounded and clear on goals. Tuesday, we enact a short-term plan. Wednesday, we deal with personnel issues. Thursday is reviewing the details. Friday is getting over ourselves. Saturday is appreciating the support of loved ones, understanding there are limitations to what you can withdraw from that bank. And Sunday, the spark has been lit and the process is underway.

Overview/Advice – Three of Pentacles reversed: Plan but don’t rigidly adhere to the plans if another, more apt opportunity arises. You know the phrase, “Rules are meant to be broken?” It comes with the caveat that the rules must first be understood. Well, this week, it’s “plans are meant to be changed,” but with the rider than you still need to have plans because they put you in the right place at the right time to get the updated schedule.

Affirmation, Claircognizance– Archangel Uriel: “Pay attention the the thoughts and ideas that come to you, as they are answered prayers.” Uriel’s name means “light of God” or “fire of God” in Hebrew, and he’s known as the angel of wisdom and repentance. We can make use of both this week. Ideas will come to make wanted changes, but in order to do so, we have to be willing to alter course. The opportunities will appear, that’s the Universe’s job. The choices to act on them, ours. If I want to release what doesn’t serve, I have to be willing to actually let go, and focus my own attention on what does.

Shortly after I set my intention, I ended up reading The Four Agreements. In man ways, it was a rather direct answer to my intention. But it’s up to me to act on that knowledge. It wasn’t really in the form I expected, you know? But this week, it’s a lot like that. You’ll get some answers, options for fulfilling your plans. They just won’t show up in the guise you were expecting.

How’s your week looking?

09/27/13: Orderly Beginning / Ace of Swords

Ace of SwordsStart at the beginning. If you’re feeling unsure or overwhelmed, the Ace of Swords would suggest you outline your needs, ranking by logical order of importance.

If you have a new idea now, it’s likely a good one! But it’s just a start. Build up from the initial spark logically and systematically.

In general, it’s a day for orderliness. Starting from the ground up, set your life, your plans and your environment in good order. Be clear and precise with communications and whatever you’re looking at, don’t stress about it. Just eliminate distractions and get started already.

That is, after all, the logical thing to do: get started.

Do you have some chaos you’d like to transform into order?
