Judgement & Nine of Wands: Prepping for Fresh Starts

Merry Christmas, Blessed Solstice, and Happy Whatever-You-Celebrate! As we wind up 2018, I’m feeling excited about the fresh start and renewed optimism a new year implies. Wrapping up this year’s energy is naturally part of that mix.

I’ve been getting pings lately to rush less and allow things to unfold at their natural pace. The rushing itself and interpreting my progress as insufficient is the issue, not the actual pace. In fact, what I’m hearing here is that things will actually progress more quickly and smoothly if I drop the angst factor.

Of course, I’m sure I’m the only one who does that. HAHAHA! –Tarot reader joke.

Another tidbit from the 2019 Look-Ahead Zodiac reading themes: let other people have their own processes, while you have yours. Don’t contort your behavior to fit into someone else’s ideal or to garner approval. It’s not sustainable. Likewise, don’t try to enact solutions for other people’s worries. Let them have their path, while you have yours. The biggest support you can give anyone is believing in their ability to navigate their own life. This helps shore them up a million times better than any “fixing” you can do.

This all flows very nicely into what Tarot has to say here.

Judgement & Nine of Wands: Prepping for Fresh Starts 1

We’ve got Judgement as the outlook, with the Nine of Wands coming in for advice from the Star Tarot. I followed up with a draw from the Botanical Inspirations deck, and we got a lovely Gerber Daisy.

I always think of Judgement as a path to clarity. Ironically, I usually read this card as being decidedly “non-judgemental” in the sense of not assigning blame. It’s more of an observational thing, where what has been planted is bearing fruit and you can determine what works and what does not. This isn’t so much about right or wrong as it is informational. All information is good information, you know?

The same theme is echoed in the advice we’re getting with the Nine of Wands. This version features the black and white wolves–what we would consider shadow and light. We couldn’t see light without shadow. It’s all part of the same whole. While there is an inevitable sense of being tired with this card, it also lets us know that standing your ground is indeed possible and that the situation(s) it refers to are close to being resolved. Tarot Nines are indicative of nearing the end of a cycle. So let that knowledge shore you up!

Finally, we’ve got our lovely Daisies, standing for “purity, cheerfulness & innocence.” It’s a powerful attitude, and one I try to embody as much as I can manage.

Don’t be quick to judge yourself (or anyone else) as “good” or “bad” this week. People are where they are, and that includes YOU! I’ve found I am most likely to look upon others as lacking when I’m feeling that way about myself and I can’t be the only one. Moreover, what looks “bad” at first glance can really lead to wonderful improvements in the big picture.

Let other people do what they do and wish them as well as you can as they do it, regardless of whether or not you’d approve. Keep steadfast to what rings true to your heart of course. And always, expect things to work out. Good and bad are in the eye of the beholder, you know?

Are you prepping for a fresh start?

Knight of Cups: Let Yourself Soar

“You can’t have it all…” he starts.

“Of course you can!” I interrupted, not concerning myself in the least with being obnoxious. I was visiting with friends.

“Maybe not all at once,” I continued. “Sometimes it takes a minute. And once you have it, you’ll obviously find a new ‘all’ to want. But there’s no reason not to have exactly what you want.”

I spoke with such conviction, he didn’t seem to know what to make of it. I could tell he liked the idea, but appeared unsure if the notion was revolutionary or delusional.

I get that reaction a lot.

I’ve found myself saying similar things lately to a number of people. You don’t have to choose. You don’t have to compromise. You can have what you want. You can have it all. And I feel people wanting to believe me, when I say such things. Their gut does believe me, even when the brain argues.

That gut knows what the brain cannot fathom.

The reason why so many people don’t have what they want has nothing to do with the potential. It has everything to do with approach. Massaging and manipulating conditions to get what you want is very hard work, usually with a very limited payoff. You can make progress sometimes, but it’s both slow and exhausting. It’s easy to lose ground; there are too many moving parts. You question and second-guess and get discouraged and doubt yourself, trying to tilt the world. The world’s answer is “try harder” and that’s not a very satisfying answer.

A whole lot of your energetic budget is expended in a back-and-forth struggle. We’re so good at identifying all the physical reality, we tend to dismiss the energy. The energy always flows first, before the real world catches up to it in form of manifested circumstances. If you want life to be easier, work with the energy instead of the physical manifestation. It’s a lot easier to move!

In fact, energy work is the ultimate shortcut. Let go of the “how” and focus on the “why.” Evoke the feelings of what you want and start riding that vibe. Look for the elements of what you’re after in your present tense life. If you want love, seek opportunities to feel love. If you want abundance, look around for that which is abundant in your life, even if it’s in a different form. The idea here is to amp up the vibration of what you want.

Line up the energy first and hold it steady as you can. Then the outer, physical world must acquiesce to your dominant vibration. Give yourself permission to test this idea, even without seeing the logic of it. Look for your inner harmony and let the rest of the world fill in around that, because it will.

Knight of Cups: Let Yourself Soar 2

Here we have “Understanding” (aka the Knight of Cups) from Osho Zen Tarot, paired with Phlox–Unanimity and Harmony–from Botanical Inspirations. The bird shown here is getting ready for flight, as the bars are dissolving. He’s realizing that cage was an illusion and he’s preparing to join the other birds in flight. The suit of Water or Cups is representative of emotional flow. This isn’t a change in circumstances we’re talking, but a change in feelings.

This is a week to tell yourself “it’s possible” without bothering about the details. It’s a week to set your intention to see what can be. Take a light-hearted approach and consider making a game of it. Show yourself with little things that the energy work is effective and those bigger things will also start to fall in line.

External factors (and other people) are not relevant here. That sorts itself if you stay out of the way. Just line up your own vibe with what you want to see and let the Universe sort the details for you.

Are you feeling it?

If you want a little help figuring it all out, give me a holler for a private consult and I’ll do my best to help you get your energy lined up.

Knight of Wands: Silent Knowing

I’ve always felt a bit like a weirdo, but the sensation is getting stronger in the past couple of years. Mostly I’m okay with that. Although to be honest, it can feel a little isolating at times. I like feeling connected to other people but if I worry about that, it messes up my own vibe.

It’s not the connections with each other that matter nearly so much as your connection to what’s bigger, what’s divine, your own soul. That’s the ONLY connection that matters. Everything else comes as a reflection of that connection, that energy and never the other way around.

Can I feel compassion for those who see the world dramatically different from how I see it? Because if I can’t, I’m kind of sunk here. That group includes damn near everyone. And I want to feel kindness for damn near everyone. It makes for a happier life. It feels more like who I really am.  It doesn’t require consensus or persuasion or action by a committee, which is impossible anyway. There’s no force involved.

It just requires my energy be on point. That I can do.

This coming week is all about that inner connection that you find by way of your heart.

Knight of Wands: Silent Knowing 3

Here we have the Messenger of Fire (aka the Knight of Wands from the Good Tarot) and Gloxinia from Botanical Inspirations–love at first sight & proud spirit.

Where is your heart? Listen to that beat, above all the static and din of “other people’s opinions.”

Connection with others is only satisfying when you first connect with your own heart. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

On my psychic soundtrack this week, I’ve got The Sound of Silence. And it’s loud, ironically enough.

“People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening”

I’d advise the same to you. Listen to the silence and see what inspirations visit you.

Are you tuning in to the silence?

If you’re looking for some feedback on your journey, holler at me for a private session.

Three of Wands: What Do You Expect?

What do you expect?

I’m not asking in a preachy sort of way. There’s no chastisement here. It’s a simple, straight-up question.

What do you expect?

Because it matters. Expecting good paves the way for good.

The better you expect, the better you'll get. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

I don’t “expect” anyone to take my word for it, though. My word means nothing in this context. Your experience has to bear it out for you. I expect it will.

Three of Wands: What Do You Expect? 4

Next week in Tarot

This week, we have the Three of Wands from the Tarot Illuminati, along with the Yellow Rose from Botanical Inspirations: Enthusiasm & Friendship.

Tarot threes indicate a birthing, new creation, or expansion. After the coupling/standoff of the Tarot twos, the threes are what is born from that process. In this Three of Wands, the figure is literally watching as his ships come in. He’s made his preparation and is awaiting the birth of results.

The yellow rose is associated with enthusiasm and camaraderie. Together with the Three of Wands, the suggestion is that we look at what we feel good about and like, expecting all to go well. We’re looking for a good feeling, good-natured sort of blending of energy. In this sweet spot, we are satisfied where we are, as well as expecting continued improvement. It’s an optimistic stance.

“Don’t create problems you don’t have” is one of my favorite bits of advice, even to myself. This is a time to heed that advice. Look for what’s right. There is no call to imagine things going poorly and fret over the imagined woes. If you find yourself doing that, time to back off, change the topic, distract or otherwise distance.

Worry is like a prayer for disaster. It’s not helpful and it’s not fun. Positive expectations, on the other hand, is a sort of preparation for improvement. It’s raising your vibration and it’s clearing the way.

Do you usually have positive expectations?

Want to make some adjustments with your expectations? Give me a holler for a 1-on-1 session.

Ten of Cups Reversed: Empty Spaces

My landlady has a well-earned reputation for planticide. She’s killed my flowers more than once. I never react very well to this, incidentally.

I also don’t think about it too much anymore, because what’s the point?

But I was remembering it last night, looking over the rooftop to the massive trees that poke up from the back. Because a couple of summers ago, she chopped down one of the biggest trees back there.

I was heartbroken. I loved that tree! (Okay, I love most trees. All the ones I’ve met.) But this particular tree was magnificent. I liked to watch this tree from my front porch, peeking out over the roof with the branches gently swaying. At the right time of the day, the leaves reflected the light as the branches danced, as if each leaf was coated with a little magic.

For a long time after that tree was cut down, I saw nothing more prominent than that gaping hole where one of my favorite trees had lived. But after a while, you stop paying so much attention to what’s missing, you know?

And that’s a good thing.

I eventually walked past the stump one day to spy some new growth. Yes! The tree had defied the death sentence! She wasn’t going anywhere. Her comeback may have been modest, but her roots go deep. I liked knowing that.

I just realized last night, I don’t see a hole there anymore. None at all. I couldn’t tell you exactly where that lovely tree had stood without going out back to seek out the stump.

The other trees had filled in the empty space with their own branches. That gap, the empty space, had been replaced with new life. And that’s what happens.

This coming week feels like this, to me. We can look for the holes in our experience, what’s missing. Or we can notice the other blessings that step up and fill in those spaces. There are always both.

Ten of Cups Reversed: Empty Spaces 5

This week, we have the Ten of Cups reversed from the Tarot Illuminati, along with Hibiscus (again) from Botanical Inspirations: Beauty & Happiness.

Every moment is full of possibility. You can see what you want, or see what you don’t want. Both elements are present in everything.

Sometimes, we think we have to rearrange the world a little bit–or a lot, or rearrange the other people in our world a little bit, or a lot–to achieve contentment. That’s a losing proposition if ever I heard one. Because really, how’s that working out for ya?

Don’t shoot for making anybody else happy here, either. Instead, look to boost your own happiness by seeking out the beauty around you. Beauty and happiness do go hand-in-hand. The mistake that most people make is thinking there isn’t always some beauty to find. There is, in everything. You just have to look at it in the right light to find it.

Beauty isn't an external reality. It's a function of perspective. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Satisfaction is attainable, and it’s not very far away. Instead of seeking to please others, seek to please yourself by looking for what you love and reveling in the beauty of it.

Are you finding some beauty?

For a little help realigning your perspective in a private session, give me a holler.

Nine of Pentacles: Unflappable

One of my life goals lately is becoming more “unflappable.” Less bothered by what anyone else thinks (including those I love), and more self-contained. I realize some may see this goal as selfish, but I don’t bother too much about that. (See what I did there?)

It really is freeing. If somebody is mad at you? You don’t have to care. You can realize it feels really crummy to be mad and not blame or judge them for it, nor take it upon yourself to change the situation. If someone disapproves of your choices? No big deal. They can approve or not. It’s their choice, not about you. And if somebody else is hurting? You can be compassionate without having to adopt the pain (or task of resolving that pain) as your own. It works so much better than trying to fix it all!

You’ll always see the storms. But if you want to be unflappable, prioritize your own well-being while wishing well to the rest of the world. You just excuse yourself from the task of figuring out and executing the “well” that you’re wishing. It’s enough to have the good intentions and reserve the sense of responsibility for your own life. That’s all you really have rights to, anyway.

This Week in Tarot: You Do You

Nine of Pentacles: Unflappable 6

This week, we have the Nine of Pentacles from the gorgeous (although poorly photographed) Tarot Illuminati, along with Violet from Botanical Inspirations: Faithfulness & Modesty.

Refine your own sensibilities. Become your own guru and leave the rest of the world to do whatever it will. Our job–here, now, or anytime, really–isn’t to create a list of all the good things in the world and all the bad, enforcing one and eliminating the other. You see how that will bring you nothing but grief? It’s a never-ending job!

Our job is much simpler: decide how to live, on an individual level. Disregard anything outside of that.  We sometimes think our individual decisions requires compliance, from the mate or the kids or the parents or the neighbors or whome/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_htmlver. It doesn’t if you let go of the “how” part of the equation and stay firmly grounded in your own energy and focus. Plenty will want to argue this point, I know. But if you can let it go? You’ll find the truth underneath. By demanding to know the “how” part, you limit yourself from receiving the “what” part. It’s pure hubris to believe we know all or can do the work of manifesting better than the Universe can. Just let it in by not fighting all the ways it cannot work, and you’ll be forever ahead of the game.

It doesn’t matter what anybody is doing. You do YOU. That’s all you need to be doing.

Being YOU does not require group consensus. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Ultimately, the goal is to be unflappable as frequently as possible. The world can be doing what the world does. The boss or mate or kid can be doing what the boss or mate or kid does. No one benefits if you become upset with the external situations–least of all, yourself! It doesn’t prove you care. It doesn’t help the situation. It just adds to the drama. As much as you can stay solid in your own truth, while allowing others to think or be whatever they are thinking or being, the better you will fare this week. It’s an ongoing project, nurturing the self-contained contentment. It can be challenging at times, but it’s well worth the effort, I promise you.

Armchair Astrology: Retrogrades & an Eclipse, Oh My!

The usual disclaimer applies: I’m not an astrologer and I don’t play one on the internet. That having been said, I do pay attention to the energy flow and hence, I  watch astrology. So here are some high points of current astro cycles, “armchair” or dilettante style.

Mars is still retrograde until August 27th. If you don’t speak astrology, that translates to a whole lot of fussiness, barely repressed irritation (and more), and a general underlying theme of frustration. At least, that’s what I’m seeing. Remain aware of any anger you’ve got bubbling under the surface as well, as you don’t want to become a snapping turtle yourself. I’d stay out of conflict as much as possible and not worry too much about what anybody else is up to right now. Use this time to your best advantage, reconsidering how you go about getting things done and know that feeling of trying to run through the mud will ease up toward the end of the summer. We’ll get there! It’s a time to pace yourself.

Mercury also goes retrograde July 26th (until August 19th).  Standard advice applies here–this is the perfect time for revisiting any issue but especially those related to communication. I have great luck with editing under Mercury retro. Mercury is the messenger god, after all. Taking a second look during Mercury retro is highly recommended. Allow for breakdowns of technology, misunderstandings, and delays because you will experience some of that. Think of it as the time the universe is untangling knots in processes, procedures and lines of communication.  Just double-check your details and stay chill. It will be fine, really.

Add into the mix a full lunar eclipse July 27th in Aquarius. Mars and Uranus are involved here, so be extra careful of safety issues. I expect this to feel pretty raw and intense for many, with some sudden plot twists. I also expect the endings and changes that this brings on will ultimately empower, but it may not be an easy ride in the throes. Take excellent care of yourself physically and be sure to allow extra time to rest and recoup because it will help.

Be kind to yourselves out there!
