Ace of Pentacles: Secrets to Success

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.” -Joseph Campbell

I used to watch interviews sometimes, with outrageously successful people talking about the secrets of their success. Yes, I was looking for tips! Insights I could utilize myself.

Because I already knew I am wicked smart and creative and I wanted to understand, what do they have going on that I did not? I wanted some of that.

And I often got annoyed at the advice I heard.

“Follow your heart. Dream big. Don’t let anyone else tell you what you can or cannot do. Take a chance. Listen to your gut.”

Sure, they seemed sincere and were clearly trying to help. But really, how do you do this? I wasn’t able to hear what they were saying about focusing on what they wanted, because I was very much focused on what I was missing. You can’t feel your way to what you want when you’re energy is fully engaged with obsessing over not having it.

The Ace of Pentacles from the Psychic Heart Tarot is “Strengthening Bonds.” Add to that Sweet Pea from the Botanical Inspirations deck, and we’ve got “Blissful Pleasure.” Merry Christmas!

Our job isn’t to sort the world into righteousness and sin. I mean, you could do that if you wanted to. But oy, what a thankless, unpleasant and generally unrewarding task. Not to mention how it’s never done.

I prefer another option. I’ve made it my job is to find my own, personal righteousness–living, breathing, and simply being in a way that feels like the best way to live. And there are perks.

Then, the appropriate connections show up. The support appears. No need to go seeking. No need to toil and fuss and fight and scheme a way through to an end result. No split energy, and no mixed feelings. No mental wrestling over what might go wrong or what’s not going right or when, how, and wherefore all of this might work out.

What you need just shows up. On cue, as you let it in. It takes a light touch and a shot of faith to hit that sweet spot but man, when you do? It’s so much easier and so much more fun. You manage to get out of your own way.

[bctt tweet=”Appreciation is how you get out of your own way. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

Pentacles are real-world, physical manifestation. The Ace is the seed, the beginning of physical manifestation. This week, try to let go of everything that doesn’t please you. You don’t have to worry or wrestle anything into shape. You just have to feel your way through it, following that bliss, those good-feeling emotions, looking at what pleases you merely because it pleases you. In that state, the action you take will be inspired (and therefore, effective).

That is enough. And if you try this as an experiment even for a few days, you’ll see just what I’m talking about.

Armchair Astrology

Mercury is direct! So the kinks we’ve seen over the last few weeks when Mercury was retrograde should all be at least in the process of unkinking. Expect issues surrounding communications in particular to go smoother.

We’ve also got some serious astrological action in Capricorn at the moment. That translates to responsibility: doing the right thing, best you can, and being a grown up about it. Goals are more achievable with a step-by-step approach. Capricorn season isn’t just a time to do you work–with Venus in Capricorn, you’ll be rewarded most if you can find ways to LOVE your work. So set about identifying lots to appreciate about your own productive projects to see them blossom. This isn’t an all-at-once thing. It’s a step-by-step and love-every-step thing, for the best outcome.

Zodiac Look-Ahead Readings

I’ve had a lot of fun doing the 2018 Look-Ahead readings this year. As the season is drawing to a close, I’m doing a last call. If you’d like an extensive peek at what to expect next year, order one by sending $50 Paypal and letting me know if you have any areas of special interest and I’ll get you fixed right up with an email summary reading, pictures of your cards and a full-length mp3 with all the details!

Merry Christmas to all my friends and best wishes for a successful 2018!

Temperance & Cheerfulness: Inspired Leverage

Ever notice the harder you push against something, the worse it seems to become? The more you dig your heels in, the more the other side does as well?

Balance is the version of Temperance we find in the Psychic Tarot of the Heart(Hey, didn’t we just see that? Repetitive Tarot is repetitive.)

And “Cheerfulness” from the Botanical Inspirations deck is the Crocus–one of my favorite springtime flowers, due how it pokes its head up, sporting outrageous color in the middle of a mound of snow. It’s always such a delight to see that color suddenly appear overnight. Requiring no fuss or bother. Just little gifts, popping up beneath your feet.

Crocus is a member of the Iris family. Iris is depicted on the Rider-Waite rendition of Temperance.

Balance yourself. Stabilize emotions to the happier end of the spectrum before doing ANYTHING. Understand there will be a mix of very unlike (or unlikely) elements in any solution. But that mix itself must be joyful, cheerful. No begrudging compromises. No attempts to out-shout or overrule “the opposition.” Just be as content as you can, wherever you’re at.

Because Temperance doesn’t see opposition. That angel doesn’t ever see anything as an unsolvable problem. Instead, the Temperance angel stands with one foot in the water of intuition, and the other on solid ground, firmly planted in both the energetic and physical worlds to create magickal solutions via blending unlikely components.

So how can we problem solve this way? How can we shift from identifying a problem to divining a solution? The energy of these two states are very different.

A problem orientation focuses on the details of what is not working. Questions of who is wrong, what is broken, or what’s unacceptable exemplify problem focus. It’s heavy and disheartening to focus on problems. And if you linger and roll around in the vibe of problem for very long, it magnifies. Your energy gets split into multiple directions, examining every nuance of every aspect of that problem. You literally start vibrating that problem on an energetic level. It’s like it waters down your life force and is utterly exhausting!

More importantly, a problem orientation doesn’t allow inspired solutions. It allows meeting up with endless versions of that very same problem, prominent everywhere you look. Have you noticed?

We expect our logical minds to fix all via sheer mental prowess and determination. As a ridiculously bright Virgo person, I can attest that brute force analysis works to a point, but man, is it ever hard work! And it only ever works to a somewhat blunt point–thinking your way through is far less effective than feeling your way through. Inspiration is a reliable shortcut, but you have to stabilize yourself emotionally before you’re gonna be able to access inspiration.

So once a problem has been identified, the question becomes, “Now what?” Rightness or morality is irrelevant in this context, as is the question of how many people agree. We’re talking practical implications. And practically speaking, if you want to be a part of the solution, you’ve got to align your energy with the solution.

You reach for inspiration by activating the energy of the solution you’re seeking. Not the details of a how a solution might come together–the hows and the whys and whatfors are not your job. Leave that to the Universe to orchestrate. Your job is to activate the FEELING of the solution you desire, as purely and clearly as you can manage by focusing on whatever inspires similar feelings. Doesn’t matter what. It’s the feelings themselves that opens the way for receiving inspiration for anything else on that same energetic wavelength. Don’t bang it out. Chill out and plug in! Then the actions inspired will be effective (and feel good, too).

[bctt tweet=”Reach for inspiration over perspiration, every time. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

While this advice is simple, I know it can be challenging in practice, especially when we’re talking something that matters a lot. But with practice (invoked early in the process), it becomes much easier. Try it out with little things first, things that don’t matter too much to you. Just make it a game, to see how it works. Once you prove it to yourself through personal experience, keep practicing it. It becomes second nature. You develop your very own magick touch!

Just remember, it’s all about how you feel, always. Not the details! Not the fix. How you feel now, how this thought feels, how that thought feels. Use what feels better to steer yourself, as guideposts for the direction to go. Relax into the process–this takes a light touch. Cheerfulness and optimism serve well here. Hand it off to the Universe and let go emotionally.  This makes space for the inspiration to arrive.

It makes all the difference.

Empress: Self Love Blooms Us

He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still. – Lao Tzu

I’ve always loved that quote, because I’ve always felt the truth of it. Self-mastery also feels a lot better and is far more reliable than needing to wrangle outside forces to comply.

“‘Needing to wrangle outside forces to comply’ is euphemism for ‘parenting,'” says Dixie’s brain.

If you trust the world to spin properly without personal input, if you just let yourself love, knowing the Universe works out the important bits? Then you don’t need to tilt the world just so to feel happy and confident and safe within it.

If you peace is internal, nobody can touch it. That’s freedom.

And the trust? It includes trusting in yourself.

Now is enough. You are enough. Doing what you know how to do, in the place you happen to be right now? It’s enough.

[bctt tweet=”Our best is always enough. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

This Week in Oracles

Here we have “Nurture,” aka the Empress from the Tarot of the Heart. She’s very fertile, in every sense of the word. Creation and regeneration are her very important tasks. She’s couple with Nasturtium, associated with “Victory & Conquest” from the Botanical Inspirations Oracle. She knows how to bring her intentions to life.

One thing you’ll never find the Empress doing is criticizing herself. She hasn’t energy for that! Self-criticism is a weed in the garden that chokes out the blossoms. She’s not going to dilute her creative energy by eating away at her own power.

Make no bother about what you could have done differently, or the mistakes you’ve made. Every second of every day, every bit of every choice, has become thread in the fabric of who you are, right now. It’s part of you. To condemn past you is to condemn present you and that never serves. It takes away your power from the only place you ever really have any–now–and chokes out your blossoms.

Instead of second-guessing ourselves, what if we just declared ourselves doers-of-the-best=we-know-how-to-do? I like becoming more than I was before. I like growth. And every bit of experience contributes to growth.

Even–no, especially–the challenging bits of life shape us in beautiful ways. So who’s to say, the one-of-a-kind works of art we become were somehow “wrong?”

Love every bit of who you are! Love the flaws just as much as the shinier spots–the flaws need it more and besides, love heals flaws. Love helps you understand what you are calling flaws, aren’t. They are just part of your creative process.

Pay no mind to anyone or anything else beyond serving your truest intention of being yourself. Quite simply, that’s living your life full of love and goodwill and unapologetic integrity to the notion of being as much you as you know how to be.

We need you to be you. Nobody else is more qualified for the job!

The beautiful thing about doing this is it becomes easier and easier to feel love for others as you do. Everything starts in the mirror and works it’s way out.

Armchair Astrology

Mercury remains retrograde until the 22nd of December. This one has felt fairly intense to me as far as Mercury retrogrades go. But that doesn’t mean it’s not immensely helpful. Just keep your calm and centered and take on what you’ve got right in front of you. This is a time of energetic cleanup and clarification. You’ll be covering familiar ground in one way or another and you’ll find opportunity and insight within the trek. So just take your time and let it happen. Lean into self care and know that what needs to be sorted out, is being sorted out.

You’re doing fine. Really.

2018 Zodiac Lookahead Readings

I do have spots open for the 2018 Zodiac Lookahead reading if you’ve a mind to get one. You get a real-time Dixie mp3 reading, email summary and pictures of your cards to help you know what to expect for the coming year, along with arming you with advice about how to make the most of it.

Reserve yours by sending payment ($50) and noting any areas you’d like extra light upon and we’ll get you fixed right up! If you’d like a complimentary Yearly Highlights astrology report, please include your birth date, time and place and order before Christmas.  (I can also do these as gifts. Just let me know , and we’ll work out the details.) Gotten some awesome feedback this year, as these can be powerful.

Be kind to yourselves out there!

Death: Transforming into Your True Self

I am at the tail end of a personal pathworking experiment. I’ve been working my way through each card of the Major Arcana, waiting to have a recognizable, personal experience with each energy before moving on to the next card.

Aside: I’m using an oversized, majors-only version of this deck, which is gorgeous! I will eventually get the whole deck because it’s gorgeous.

It’s been a really interesting practice. It’s taken a couple of years(!) now and during this time, my worldview has shifted considerably. I can’t say it was due this exercise, although I couldn’t say it wasn’t, either. There were lots of surprises in the way I experienced each of the cards. And I’m interested in seeking exactly how The World makes itself known to me. Because all the cards have, once I gave them the chance.

But the point of the majors is really the transformation process–the Fool’s Journey, where the fool sets off to experience the world but instead experiences himself. Because you know my favorite thing to say here: all roads lead home.

This week? It’s kind of like that.  There is change about. Serious change. But all roads continue to lead home, forevermore.

Don’t let the pretty picture fool you. “Release” from the Psychic Heart Tarot is Death, Major Arcana key 13. Not a soft, fuzzy energy at all! While it’s an attractive depiction, the notion of a transformation is still well-illustrated. The man here is clearly being reborn, becoming someone different than before. No matter how you slice it, that’s kind of a big deal.

I also pulled from the Botanical Inspirations deck for advice and got Violet, associated with faithfulness and modesty.

Here’s what I’m feeling from this combo:  not only is the world changing, but so are you! What you have always taken as the last word may no longer ring true. The stimulus for this re-examination may be outside yourself or even global, but the impact feels quite personal. What used to be, no longer is.

That’s okay. Beyond okay, it’s perfect. Because evolution is both constant and unavoidable.

It may be uncomfortable. Massively uncomfortable? I can’t say. Because to be clear, YOU have a lot of say in that! Maybe annoying to hear, but utterly true. Maintaining your center is key in making this easier. Hell. Maintaining your center is key to everything.

[bctt tweet=”Just maintain your center. That’s your only job. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

Shift focus from control, from trying to effect some change, to integrity–personal integrity. Let go of everything that does not feel 100% TRUE to who you are, at the micro level. This is what you aim to live. Inner focus is always easier than mucking around in the state of the world, or your loved ones or the children or neighbors or friends or humanity at large.

Your individual energy flow IS part of the collective, and you get to decide what you want to add to the mix. So remain faithful to who you are.

And modesty here–understanding that you don’t know all or have to know all–is a relief. At least, it sure is for me! Because I’m way over the idea I have to figure it all out, even for me.

That’s the job. Transforming into your true self. All I have to manage is right here, right now. Being real, in the moment. Being loving, in the moment. Being honest (and honestly me), in the moment.

That’s do-able.

How are you managing out there?

P.S. I’m going to do the Zodiac 2018 Look-ahead Readings special again this year, starting after Thanksgiving. I’m thinking of adding a special bonus this year, so keep a watch out for the announcement, coming soon…

Knight of Wands: Passion and Value of Trouble

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened and vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.” – Helen Keller

I don’t know I agree that suffering is the one-and-only way to build character, but it sure can be a shortcut!

In the last year or so, I’ve been refining my personal philosophy. Taking the foundation I had already and expanding it. It wasn’t really a planned thing, but that’s how it’s working out and I like it.  And as I think (and talk, and write) my way through this process, I’m finding it becoming easier and clearer all the time.

I’m also finding myself straying further outside the norm, but I try not to bother much about that.

I am looking to drop as much judgement as I can manage about what’s “good” and what’s “bad.” Of course, absolutely there are things I see around me I don’t want, as well as much celebrate.

But when I move my focus from what feels good to me, to what feels bad in order to “fix” or even neutralize the people that perpetuate the “bad,”  invariably I start to veer off course. And I know I’m off course because it feels terrible and I lose my sense of being plugged in.

Basically, I see all the aspects of life as being served up on a plate. And there’s stuff on that plate I love, and stuff on the plate I despise. I can either spend my time devouring what I love and looking for more of that, or raging against what I despise and yelling at people they should not make any more of this awful stuff.

Passion is never a problem. Passion is always a gift. It’s what you DO with your passion that can feel good or not. Trying to control outside conditions is slow-moving and difficult trek. Controlling your own perspective, on the other hand, is relatively easy and you’re still contributing to the sum total of what you see as good.

All that having been said, not everything you run across is welcome. And that’s fine. Sometimes, challenging or painful circumstances can help propel us to a new level of understanding and really crystalize priorities in a way nothing else seems to do. And that’s all fine and well. In fact, that’s good. Because if you can see the good in everything that happens, extract that benefit and blessing out of it to appreciate, you will find a freedom that no other perspective can grant.

[bctt tweet=”Always reach for appreciation. It makes the best of everything. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

If you can get to the point you can extract appreciation from EVERYTHING you see, at least some part of it, then you have found a rock-solid center that becomes scarcely shakable. Making the best of what you have, doing what you can with where you’re at now, making peace with whatever is going on around you? THIS is the path to connection. This is the path to joy. And believe it or not, this is also the path to positive change and growth.

But don’t take my word for it. Try it yourself, if you’ve a mind and see if it doesn’t work for you, too.

Do you look for the value of trouble?

Queen of Pentacles Rx: Self-Care & Slack

The world is not imperfect or slowly evolving along a path to perfection. No, it is perfect at every moment, every sin already carries grace in it. —Herman Hesse

The Queen of Pentacles makes things happen. She gets it done and looks after all those pesky details that may escape most people’s notice. But reversed, she’s not as effective as she’d like to be–and she’s not very happy about it.

Looking at getting her back on her game, clarification came in the form of the Five of Pentacles. The folks here are alone amongst a crowd and judging themselves as being “out in the cold.”  They are feeling lack, constriction, with the fear filling up the emotional space and blinding them to the help that’s readily available.

“How did I end up here? What did I do wrong?”

It doesn’t help.  Try, “How can I feel a little better, right now?” Because that will lead out of the cold.

Reaching out for a little emotional support is highly recommended. Look around you with the intention of finding encouragement and it will show up. Ask and let go. Maybe follow up with a nap.

We sometimes set arbitrary (and near impossible) standards for ourselves and get rather agitated when things don’t go exactly as planned. But what about setting the standards around giving our best effort? In the given moment, do what you can with what you’ve got. That’s do-able.  That’s a way of being true to yourself regardless of what else is going on. It’s a commitment worth making into a practice.

[bctt tweet=”Perfection is making the best of what you’ve got, right this minute. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

Declaring yourself “enough” is an act of love. And when you do that first, then you don’t have to go looking for validation outside yourself. See how much that simplifies life?  You can find an unflappable freedom if you can train yourself to see the perfection in the moment instead of the flaw. Every moment has both, but you can choose, which you want to breathe in.

And the only way to attune to the perfection in a given moment is to be as loving, kind, and appreciative to yourself as you can.

Pretty awesome homework, if you ask me.

You cannot give what you don’t have. So first, give to yourself what you want to share with others and your cup will never run dry. And have a great week.

Are you good to YOU?

Video Transcript

The real perfection is just doing what you can and getting the best you can out if it, you know?

Hey, this is Dixie from A Fool’s Journey. The coming week looks like there is some stress involved. Overall, I think everything will get done that needs to get done. But there’s a possibility for people kind of shuffling off the whole self-care thing. Um, which I wouldn’t recommend.

And in order to keep things going smoothly, I would suggest prioritizing, not feeling like you have to do everything perfectly. Do what you can as well as you can. And also, what you’re focusing on. If you’re focusing on what you’re not getting done as well as you would like, or if you’re, you know, focusing on what you don’t have, what’s not ready, what’s not where you want, it’s gonna be more stressful than it needs to be.

And feel comfortable, okay? Go ahead and reach out to those that are closest to you if, if for nothing else than reassurance and a little emotional support. Because there is assistance available for you if you are willing to take that step.

Reach out and ask for it. Okay. So, I would advise that. And not be too hard on yourselves. And give, give yourself just a little bit of slack. Okay?

And the week will go better. Hope that’s helpful for you. Take care. Peace out from the Goddess.

Bye-bye.
