Unflinching Self-Honesty: Weekly Tarot Forecast, Aug 3 – 9

The trip were taking right now? It’s totally an inward journey.

Armchair astrology notes (from the student astrologer): We have a huge number of planets retrograde right now, and some asteroids to boot: Venus, Saturn (direct soon), Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Chiron,  Lilith and Pallas are all on the list. For the non-astrological, retrograde that means those celestial bodies appear to be moving backward from our perspective on Earth. Astrologically, the energy those planets are associated with is turned inward. Without even beginning to unpack what each body means, it’s pretty evident that looking within and what goes on between one’s ears is the focus of this period.

You can expect to be revising lots and lots of issues involving self-worth, your perception of yourself vs. what other people perceive, how you handle love and money, your work ethic and sense of responsibility, what your personal “incurable wound” happens to be, and oh yeah–your dark side. Most of these topics will not come as a surprise, although Neptune retrograde could smack you with a little bit of crazy you carry around that you were unaware of. Because Neptune can be kind of a jerk like that. But we forgive him because he’s really fun at parties.

So with that in mind, the forecast this week outlines a course of self-examination. My apologies in advance to those not a fan of mirrors. However, the tools you’ll be receiving courtesy the retrograde action, the nuggets of wisdom and information that surface for you, are perfectly suited to the task at hand.

latejulyforecast 017

Monday, Fertility – The Empress: The mind is alive with possibilities. The Empress is crackling with inspiration and it’s a heady, exciting stream of potential unfolding. But remember that while the energy of the Empress is very pleasant, it’s far from promising outcomes. Fertility is not birth; it’s the potential for birth. Big difference! Take notes on inspirations because they may quickly slip away. The strongest of the lot can be fleshed out and made real.

Tuesday, Temptation – The Devil: It’s easier to keep doing what you’ve always done, the way you’ve always done it, than to break outside your comfort zone. Recognize the difference between “cannot” and “don’t choose to,” because it’s a sizable and relevant distinction. There’s an urge to remain in a rut, but the rut has a price. This would be a great day to follow up on some of yesterday’s inspiration, with a special awareness of what’s held you back in the past. ‘Cause guess what? It probably still does, in some form.

Wednesday, Light – The Sun: Ah, the Sun shines! The Sun always advises being true to ourselves–albeit our best selves. Identity isn’t up for a vote. We’re being called to step a little further out of hiding to express our hearts’ true desires in a genuine, unconditional manner. What makes you unique? What brings you joy? What do you truly believe and feel? Let THAT out today, without concern for popular opinion on what’s important. It’s about being you today.

Thursday, Accelerated Motion – Eight of Wands: Movement! Clear, quick and decisive movement. If you’ve been waiting on signs, it’s the day to look for them. But somehow, I suspect you won’t have to look very hard. Potential for head smacks in the “signs” category.

Friday, Firm Foundation – Four of Pentacles: Go back to basics and review. Look at the underlying structures of whatever you have under consideration now to see if they hold strong. Differentiate between irrationally founded fears and legitimate structural flaws in your plans. A sense of stability and security is your gift for doing this work.

Saturday, Shadow – The Moon: The other side of the Sun, far less popular but just as important. The Moon shows us our own shadow side. It’s here we face the parts of ourselves that we don’t want acknowledge, even to ourselves. In that knowledge, however, is prectious gifts. If you fail to own up to your shadow and deal with it directly, you’ll be dealing with it via a string of life circumstances over and over again, thoughtfully providing a canvas for projecting the most hated aspects of yourself…until you “get it” or die, whichever comes first. Understanding who you really are, the not-so-pretty as well as the sunshine and roses bits, grants immense power. Today, there’s a good chance you’ll run into some of that shadow. It may not be welcome, but it will unquestionably be useful. Heads up.

Sunday, Spiritual Union – Two of Cups: Here is the payoff for acknowledging that shadow! The light and the dark meet and become integrated. Without both light and shadow, it’s like the soul has a limp, you know? But with it, we have a complete picture. We can work with the whole of who we truly are. We can love even those parts of ourselves we don’t especially like. By loving ourselves unconditionally, we are better poised to see how our shadow side has functioned to serve and protect us. Maybe some of these traits have outlived their usefulness or need to be adjusted, but we’ll never know if keep our eyes tightly closed. Great time to exercise gratitude and generosity–especially aimed right in the mirror.

Overview/Advice – Disruption – Tower reversed: In case you haven’t noticed, it’s the second week in the row we got this card, reversed, in the position for advice. Tarot stutters! So I’ll echo the themes of last week again. Look to establish routines that provide predictability and comfort. Minimize disruption. Honor your physical needs and protect yourself from emotional drains. Prioritize the tasks of daily living and show up. Good food, adequate rest, downtime, loving companions and everyday rituals carry you through stressful times. Make your week as “normal” as you can, with whatever life is tossing out at you in the process and you’ll be at your best to manage.

Affirmation, Archangel Michael: Remember who you are. “You are a powerful, loving, and creative child of God. You are very loved.” This affirmation isn’t about taking a poll on who you should be, or pretending you’re already and completely who you want to be. Remember who you ARE. If you do want to be different, fair enough. By taking responsibility, you put yourself in the driver’s seat. Don’t sit in the backseat for you life! Being yourself is your birthright, so do that. Striving for better is laudable, but you cannot define “better” without acknowledging the now.

And the second part of that affirmation – “You are a powerful, loving and creative child of God. You are very loved.” What about that?

[bctt tweet=”Love and accept yourself fully today. Doing so allows you to become more, tomorrow. #quotes”]

You are okay, right now. You are exactly where you are supposed to be, right this minute. Does that mean that you don’t want to grow? Hell no! But it means you can love and accept yourself honestly, fully and completely today. Doing so allows you to be more, tomorrow.

Are you feeling this rolling in?

Cleaning out the closet: Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, April 13 – 19

thumbnailThis forecast looks a lot like a “purge week” to me. From the start, ignoring what’s sentimental for loved ones to focus on your own needs (Monday), putting up with the chaos in route of a clean out (Tuesday), being hit with the changes in your life as you go through reminders mid-purge (Wednesday), pushing through to finish (Thursday), and not being clear on when you’re done (Friday). There’s even a little remorse over what’s been changed (Saturday) along with a well deserved rest (Sunday). I’m not sure exactly how this is going to manifest on an individual level, but I think it’s a very interested way, the whole reading came together.

Another thing notable this week: With the exception of Sunday, there is a LOT of motion here. Wands all over the place with a couple swords to punctuate. And a couple of Majors in the mix. I would not be surprised if a realization that hits mid week (Death) is processed and accepted around the end (Hanged Man).

Monday, Power –  Ten of Cups reversed: There’s a lot of power in what we learned from our family. But this power goes both ways…both those examples we learned to emulate, and those examples we opted to eschew. You know what I’m saying? Both the ways we favor our family and the ways we diverse are defining. Always be yourself and honor that.

Tuesday, Patience –  Eight of Wands: Things are happening! Just not done cooking yet. Hang on, hang on! Won’t’ be too long before the “what next” feeling is clear.

Wednesday, Foundations & Achievements –  Death: Transformations have changed who we are. Those challenging times, we build upon and grow from. They suck during, but the next morning? It’s pure gold. Give yourself a little kudos for making it through, and acknowledge what you’ve learned. Because really? It comes in handy. Secondary: With it being Tax day in the US, your foundations and achievements (income) can take a hit with tax bill. After all, they say the only two sure things in life are death and taxes. ;-)

Thursday, Suffering in Silence –  Ten of Wands: Oh man! That’s a heavy weight. Hang on, Hang on. Get help in you can, because maybe some of the burden can be shared.

Friday, Temptation –  Four of Swords reversed: There’s a temptation to hold on to what should be let go, here and now. I’m seeing this like somebody baiting you in a conversation. Are you going to do whatever it takes to get the last word, even if you know it’s not in your best interests? Or are you going to just get on with your life?

Saturday, Disruption –  Four of Wands reversed: “Forever” usually means “As far as I can see right now.” There is a disruption with an established setup, routine or arrangement with this. Roll with the flow, baby.

Sunday, Partnerships & Alliances (+ Sacral Chakra) –  The Hanged Man: Calm down from yesterday. Exercise a little faith. No need for goal-directed activity. But do something that gives you joy. In fact, your J.O.B. JOB for the day is to feel some joy. Get on it!

Overview/Advice –  Five of Wands reversed: Another week to choose your battles man. Although I’ll admit, I consider that advice relevant 24/7. Minimize conflict. Ignore what doesn’t really matter and don’t go around with the silly notion you can bring the world to your perspective. Settle for living your life from your perspective. Best to keep your nose out of the rest of the world’s business. We generally have enough to do minding our own.

Affirmation –  Scarlet: Attract Success. To attract success, you have to first let go of “not success.” You know what I mean? You want a new wardrobe, you clean out the closest. This helps on a physical level as well as metaphysical level. This week is very busy, cleaning out the closet. If your “closet” is a mess, it will be a tough week. But take heart in that it looks good for you to be in a good place with the whole ordeal by the end. And that feeling of accomplishment? Well worth it!

Do you have “a closet” to clean?

Plates Overflowth: Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Feb 9 -15

 thumbnail

These cards could be talking directly about my last week. I have been completely rebuilding all my websites from the ground up out of necessity and it’s not my idea of a good time. But in the end, I’ll be a lot better off for facing it. Keep that idea in mind yourself, if you face some struggles this week.

Looking at these cards as a whole, I’m expecting a week of INTENSE. Sorry, kids! Now, I’m glad Mercury is prepping to move forward again (Feb. 11), I’m glad we’re all making progress and all. But doesn’t mean it’s easy. Not saying it’s not ultimately worthwhile, though. Just not easy.

My sincere apologies for those looking for a break, because it looks like a “plate overflowth” with plenty of hustle type of week. The good news is I’m liking the higher numbers on the cards. That’s indicative of being at the end of a cycle. Hallelujah! But I am also expecting the possibility of overwhelm. If you’re a crier, pack some tissue, man. May come in handy.

Monday, What is Hidden – Knight of Cups: Just how intensely you are feeling is NOT evident to the casual observer. Don’t be saying somebody “should have known” because they just cannot know what’s in your head and your heart today. Be sure you’re on top if it yourself and do realize your feelings are…in motion, okay? Knight energy is fast, and can quickly shift. If you don’t like how you’re feeling, give it a couple of minutes. On the plus side, the right song, artwork, a book or a movie will likely have the power to move your emotional state in short order. Take advantage if you need a boost.

Tuesday, Resolution – Eight of Pentacles: You solve problems one step at a time. Practical, physical, and careful efforts towards the goal are most effective. Whatever you’re trying to master? You’ve no doubt been steadily improving as you go. So don’t look at the time it took to get here as “wasted.” It’s not. Look at is as perfecting your processes.

Wednesday, What to Avoid – Six of Pentacles: Don’t give what you don’t have to give just to be perceived as nice or because you do not know how someone else is going to solve their problems.  Don’t lend money you do not have to share. Don’t accept responsibilities you do not have adequate time and energy to fulfill. Be prepared to say “no” today. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is express faith in others to figure out their own lives.

Thursday, Present – Judgment: Regroup day! It’s appropriate to consider what has been going wrong, but also what has been going right. This is not about blame. It’s about understanding. It helps you know where you’re going, you know? This energy is not a ticket to the guilt trip express. It’s more an opportunity to take a deep breath and consult your map. No recrimination. Just information.

Friday, Blocking or Covering, Knight of Swords Rx: Uh oh. This strikes me as a sharp tongue. Sarcasm may get in the way of achieving your goals today if you’re not conscious or careful. Control your mouth!

Saturday, Clarification – Eight of Wands Rx: Determination you may have been awaiting is imminent. This isn’t the letter or phone call or news itself, but a knowing, it’s not going to be long before now. News is coming.

Sunday, Past Life – Ten of Wands Rx: To me, this strikes as an awareness of times you’ve undertake more than you could manage and had to let it go. Neither good or bad in itself, but instructive, no?

Overview/Advice – Ten of Swords: Ow! To me, this says overwhelm pure and simple. This looks to be a very fast moving week and at times, it’s too much stimulation. While this card can sometimes indicate a betrayal, it does not always. What it does consistently point to, however, is an apex, where whatever it is peaks, maximum capacity. It’s a difficult energy. Your best bet this week is understanding it will probably have “moments” and being prepared with distraction, pleasant activities and arranging to connect with loved ones. Does it make you happy? Indulge in joy to heal any stings.

Affirmation – It is my dominant intent to look for what I want to see. This isn’t a fear-based approach to living. It’s a goal-based approach to living. Of course, you do your work. But as you do, acknowledge progress. And notice the bits and pieces of your dreams materializing in your daily, waking life. That turns it up.

We’ve got this. In some ways, these kinds of weeks are very encouraging to me because when you have this much motion, you also have progress. It can be uncomfortable, stressful and sometimes, upsetting. But it’s with a point! I am more than willing to deal with discomfort, so long as there is a point.

Living Intentionally: Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Feb 2 – 8

thumbnail

How appropriate: Mercury Retro giving us a weird, blur-fest image. But you know, it’s the image I had to work with. And this retrograde has been a BEAR, I must say! I am working with what I got. I am getting stuff done and my stuff is working, but without exception, it’s totally not the “stuff” I’d intended to get done. You know?

I’m betting you do!

It looks to be an interesting week, with the first part concerned with identifying what doesn’t quite fit, and the last part with changing that. I believe the changes will be helpful overall, but perhaps a little bittersweet at the same time. Think like graduating from school, or leaving a job, or moving. It might be the best thing, great overall, but with the shift, there’s also a sense things won’t be the same anymore. It looks like that, this week.

Monday, What is Hidden – 3 of Wands: Nobody can see exactly how much effort—and expectation—lies beneath a casual glance. Be conscious of your own unspoken expectations, because they could color your behavior in unexpected ways if you’re not cognizant.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Three of Cups Rx: Looking for some more space? Have a previously unacknowledged drive to lose some dead weight in your social circle? This strikes me as feeling out-of-time with companions, or perhaps a desire to become more out-of-time.

Wednesday, Future Life – Five of Swords: Fight for what’s right. As it plays out, you can expect to win. Woot!

Thursday, Crossing – High Priestess Rx: Life is complicated by failing to listen to that inner voice.  If you cannot hear it, you NEED quiet time, away from distractions competing for your attention. If it doesn’t arise naturally, mindfully create it. The urge to move (which is likely) coupled with an inability to hear your inner guidance adequately is not an advisable mix. You need to either 1. Find a connection to your inner radar before acting or 2. delay action.

Friday, Outcome – Temperance Rx: Oil and water will never mix; sometimes a decision has to be made. Aside: there could be a drive to overindulge afoot tonight as well. A drink is fine, but if you’re out and about, see to it there’s a designated driver before you start pounding down the happy juice, okay? Stay safe out there!

Saturday, Crowning Influences – The Hierophant Rx:  Traditional ends may be achieved via nontraditional approaches. Or vice versa. Flexibility is definitely an asset here. No judging. Keep an open mind.

Sunday,  Cons – Two of Pentacles: This card is pretty self-explanatory. Expect plenty on your plate, with possibly competing interests to manage here.

Overview/Advice – Five of Cups: This is not a happy overview card! I’m thinking by looking at the rest of the week there are definitely adjustments over the course of the week, new coordinates being laid. Connections or situations may crop up that just don’t work anymore, like favorite shoes you’ve outgrown. This doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to abandon everyone or everything you love, but you very well may experience a loss. If so, allow yourself to feel sad! That’s the best way to work through the feelings.

Affirmation – I practice the Science of Deliberate Creation. I won’t go all “Law of Attraction” on you here, despite my choice of Oracle cards. I will just say this week, don’t live by default. THINK about what you want, and move in accordance with those desires. Live intentionally.

Then again, that’s never inappropriate advice.

Do you try to live intentionally?

Serpentine! Weekly Flow Tarot, Oct. 12 – 18

Weekly Flow Tarot Oct 13 - 18

I currently find myself in a very strange position: becoming successful in a venue I had given up on. It’s something I put a huge amount of energy into several years ago, doing my absolute best to make it work, but failed to turn it into what I’d envisioned. I’d let it go and (I thought) moved on. But somehow, when I wasn’t really looking, boom! Pretty much overnight this all-but-abandoned venture is now taking off and I’m in the center of an energetic swirl.

I’m still adjusting. And you know, I probably should be celebrating, but I’m not so much. I am incredibly grateful, don’t get me wrong. I know it’s a gift and I’m not one to intentionally waste gifts. But I’m also terribly confused. This is nothing like what I imagined! There is plenty of ugly that goes with the flowers. And I honestly don’t know why it showed up in my lap. There are people so much more qualified, more deserving. Who am I? That’s what I ask myself. But for better or worse, it’s here and it’s my job to make dinner out of what’s on my plate. Us woo-woo folks get just as confused by life as everybody else. Maybe more sometimes because we straddle more than one world.

But the forecast this week? Totally smacks of that vibe. Confusing success with a side of what-the-Hell?

Because it’s that time of the year, I am pulling out the Zombie Tarot for the next few weeks. This deck being who it is, I also set the intention to only read the cards upright. Reversals in this deck are unnecessarily difficult to decode for me, so I’m reading upright. Duly noting, however, that almost all the cards stubbornly appeared reversed before I put them aright. Oy! So the week is still not easy—not surprising with the pesky Mercury rx. But we do what we can, huh?

Monday, Goal  – Ten of Cups: An optimistic start to the week, with a goal of idyllic bliss. That’s nice. Kind of wish I could end the forecast right here, huh? Unfortunately, if you get a look at the picture, chaos is not too far away and there is a zombie making progress in reaching the shore. Oops.

Tuesday, What you can Change – Four of Wands: Who has a key to “your house?” Who is in your intimate circle? Who gets invited to your party? That’s what the Four of Wands is talking about to me here. What you can change is who you open your door to and let into your psyche. Choose wisely.

Wednesday, Disappointment – Six of Wands: Since the Six of Wands is generally a card of victory and acclaim, having it paired with disappointment is an especially poignant combination. “Empty victory” comes to mind. To avoid disappointment with accomplishments, it’s a damned good idea to firmly bear in mind with what you really want to achieve. I can pretty much guarantee you, “success” looks different when you get there than it did in your head. Maybe not the main part, the meat-and-potatoes part, but the sexy, dessert, won’t-this-be-ever-so-keen-when-people-cheer-me? part. Keep your priorities foremost the whole time and you’ll know what’s up as you continue to climb the mountain.

Thursday, Problem – Three of Pentacles: We’re back to things not being as we’d planned. Life is off-script. Damn it! Work on your improv skills.

Friday, Relationship – Eight of Wands: Ah, too much going on to track! This feels somewhat frantic and confused to me. I know we’d all feel better with clear-cut, well-defined lines. Well, they ain’t there. Color pretty anyway and worry about the lines later. You’ll find them soon enough.

Saturday, What to Leave in the Past – Wheel of Fortune: I know sometimes life doesn’t work out as we’ve planned, but that doesn’t mean we’re excused from goal-setting completely. For me, the trick for effective goal setting is to focus on what I want to accomplish, the outcome more than the process. I do know the “close your eyes and hope for the best” process isn’t always advisable, though.

Sunday, Conscious Desires – The Hierophant: Oh my. This looks like a wish for somebody to just “lay it out” for us with a step-by-step how-to. I get that, I really do. But always, it’s about the individual choice. Alternatively, we could be talking an awareness of the need for alone, quiet time That would be a worthy indulgence.

Overview/AdviceQueen of Cups: Keep your emotions in check, while still honoring them. Listen to your feelings, and get quiet enough you can hear the inner voice. This looks like a week where there will be some surprises, and where staying balanced and centered requires specifically directed effort. Do I even need to say that effort is worth it?

AffirmationAqua: “Experience Peace & Calm.” Translation? Meditate! Downtime. Ground, center, devote some time to yourself and your own peace of mind.

Flexibility is key again this week. If someone shoots at you, don’t just stand wondering why on Earth they would do such a thing, when you’d never have guessed it coming. Serpentine! I have the distinct feeling those who adjust quickly, stay tuned in, and are quick to correct course when things don’t work out just so—while continuing to make rational steps towards things working out “just so”—will be the winners overall. My advice? Stay frosty and be ready to serpentine!

Damn. These cards are awfully loud and it feels like they are talking straight to me. Do you hear them talking to you, too?

Schedule a session with Dixie.

Optimistic Resolutions: Weekly Flow, May 26-30

Weekly Tarot May 26 - 30

Well, I’m delighted and relieved to see a more pleasant outlook for the coming week than I got for the weekend! Plus looks like a nice day off for those of you who get that sort of thing. I’m expecting an active week with those Wands showing up and the generally active tone of the overall forecast. Possibility of some sort of resolution on Friday. Overall, this week is feeling optimistic!

Monday, Ten of Cups: Great day for relaxing with loved ones, friends and family alike. Looks harmonious and happy. Yay!  Be sure to let the folks around you know how much you appreciate them. It will be well received. Caveat: Any time we’re talking Cups, there may be alcohol flowing so please, no unnecessary risks.

Tuesday, Three of Wands: A day of expectation. Look for news, feedback or an update coming in on something you’ve initiated previously, especially via mail although not necessarily. Most likely it’s positive, and deserved. This card often foretells a payout of some sort. Hope that’s how it works out for you!

Wednesday, The Hierophant: Well, it’s the New Moon in Gemini, and the Hierophant would TOTALLY approve of a spiritual ritual of some sort. New Moons are for new starts. What do you want to start? If you can incorporate traditional symbolism into the mix, it will be all that much more effective. In the everyday, muggle world, make any calls you need to make to big institutions today, tie up loose ends and present yourself conservatively and traditionally. Your best bet is going old school.

Thursday, Five of Swords: I often struggle with this card, trying to decide who is defeating whom. But here, I want to say the victor will be the one who has the clearest communication and sharpest ideas. So if you’re facing off, have your points outlined and stick to the facts for the best outcome. Quick, concise and to the point for the win.

Friday, Eight of Wands reversed:  Good chance what you thought was up in the air, not so much! I’m seeing this as a likely conclusion to something or end to uncertainty.

Affirmation for the week: I love and approve of myself. It’s so easy to play what-if, second guess and doubt ourselves to death. I’m horrified at some of the self-talk I hear—people tell their Tarot readers things, you know. I often suggest that people treat themselves with as much kindness, compassion and understanding as they would a good friend. Because some of the things people say to themselves, they would never dream of saying to their dog, let alone another human being.

First of all, forgive yourselves your mistakes. We all make them, and you don’t get the privilege of doing without. And secondly, it’s much easier to approve of yourself if you do your best. Your best today will probably be better than your best last year or last week. That’s not a reason for self-scorn. It’s evidence  of growth.

So cut yourself some slack for the past and focus on doing what you can now. I’m willing to bet life will flow smoother when you do that.

How’s your week looking?
