Think Tarot is a crock? Note to the Woo-Woo Haters

dogs fightingWhat follows is a rant, directed to no one in particular.

So you think Tarot–or astrology, or runes, chakras, Reiki, magic spells, whatever–is utter bullshit? Okay. That’s nice.

Whaddya want, a cookie?

You find it obviously silly? Fair enough. I used to think the same thing. Most people do.

Of course, “most people” used to think the sun obviously revolved around an obviously flat Earth. “Most people” have drawn a lot of obvious conclusions over the centuries–conclusions where “most people” were eventually found to be fabulously wrong.

I believe in the mystical worlds not because I’m immune to reason, but because reasoning tells me I do not know everything! So I must experiment to determine truth, as best as I can understand it. Maybe my understanding of the mechanics are undoubtedly incomplete and faulty, my conceptual framework at times lacking. But my observations are unequivocal.

I believe for one reason and one reason only: I’ve seen it work.

Idiocy to me is accepting mainstream merely because it is mainstream. Idiocy is denying my experience of reality because “most people” haven’t actually taken a look. I’m very grateful I was humble enough to seek truth instead of continuing to be “right” according to most people.

I don’t want to argue with anyone. Hell, I don’t even need faith in what I do to help you, if you’re interested in considering the advice such tools can help me access. The wisdom itself is the real gift, not how one gets it. To me, it’s asinine to set aside useful truth because you’re not a fan of the process used to ascertain the truth.

But regardless, fighting with haters over what’s real is a waste of energy that could be used for something productive and I’m not interested in wasting my energy. It’s damn precious.

I don’t seek the world’s approval. I’ve got enough Aquarius, I don’t need it! Thank the Gods.

What I do seek, though, is respect…just enough respect that if someone finds what I do distasteful, they’ll be polite enough to keep it to themselves. And I’ll keep most of my opinions of those opinions to myself. That’s my end of the bargain, and some days I can promise you, I’m not getting the best end of that deal.

What do you do with people who want to argue?

11/23/13: What do you really know? / Judgment Rx

Judgment Rx

God was alive for me growing up. I knew, because my parents told me. Because the religious leaders told me. But more, because I FELT it.

I knew a lot of things.

I knew there was no God, when we lost custody. I knew those kids would be better off with us, and I knew we’d not be allowed to have a relationship with them if they did not stay with us. I knew this as clearly as I knew the sky was blue and I drew breath.

I prayed and prayed and prayed with all my heart and soul. It did nothing that I could see. Nothing! I knew I was right, and God had failed to show up. Why believe in a useless God?

Now I know there is a God, although my version of God today is a Hell of a lot different than what I used to believe in, way back when. And this is something I know, in my heart.

This is what comes to mind seeing Judgment reversed.

Really, we’re not in the position to declare ultimate right and wrong. We live our lives according to working theories. You see what you see, but that vision is but a tiny, infinitesimal glimpse of an infinitely large picture. Even if it’s your life…well, actually especially if it’s your life.

Perspective is an elusive beast, you know? What I thought I knew so many times in my life, I’ve been proven wrong. Over and over. And I expect to be proven wrong again, over and over. To me, this is the definition of living right: growth!

Just for today, try to let go of the sense of absolute. Try to let go of blame and attribution of right and wrong and up and down. Just BE. Be the best that YOU can, do what you believe to be right and forget everybody and everything else. Because you know what?

You cannot see the whole picture. Understand that, acknowledge and accept that. Live within the framework you’ve got, and work from there. You’ll be surprised at what comes from it.

Although I do have to admit, it can take years to see more of the picture. So be it! Because what else are you gonna do?

Do you feel like you “know what you know,” or are your convictions mutable like mine?

Weekly Tarot 9/23: Exhale Sparky / Hanged Man

A little switch from last week…

Short version: You’ve done what you can. Time to step back, detach and show a little faith already. Because really, meddle, meddle, meddle won’t do you much good.

Are you finding the need for less action and more faith right about now? Or not feeling this vibe?

How to Let Go and Be Glad

So, for the Everyday Tarot forecast, I said, “Let go and be glad.” Lilliput asked a really good question.

“Any ideas on how to go about doing this?????????”

I know, right? It’s not always easy.

Remember, one of the cards I was looking at was the Hierophant. That would suggest to me emulating your teachers, calling upon your faith or path, whatever it is. The Hierophant is also associated with Taurus, so physical comforts are helpful.

For me, I pray, specifically turning over my worries to God/the Universe/the Angels/Ganesh/my guides, just whomever I am moved to call upon at the time.

If it have trouble getting it out of my head, I write it out. Journal, write a letter to the spirits, write a letter to the person whom I’m having trouble with (always in the 3rd person, actually, like sending off the energy in an energetic message).

If I’m strung out by the stress, I never go wrong with  the Taurus-approved nap option!

As far as being glad, one of the fastest, easiest ways to raise my vibration is spend some time working on a gratitude list. Yes, I know it sounds trite, but listing out as many things as I can find to be thankful for in the moment, spending a few minutes really FEELING that thankfulness, helps tremendously.

Try it, you’ll see what I mean.

I also find music is a wonderful aid in lifting my vibration. And baths or showers. I set my intention to wash that gunk right off me!

And meditation. And reading. Those are some of my favorites.

How do YOU let go and be glad?
