Five of Cups Rx: Making Space for the Next Step

It’s been a weird week, hasn’t it? At least for me, it has. I’ve heard plenty of reports that out in the wild, it’s been the same.

And my allergies have been acting up, even indoors. So I’m walking around for the last week with a vague impression I’m about to cry or have recently cried: my face feels emotional! And it’s especially odd because the physical sensations of proximity to tears seem to color my perceptions at the same time. I’ve felt like I need to be gentle with myself because of it, you know?

Not that’s ever really bad advice. I think being gentle with yourself an being gentle with everybody else is always a good idea.

Just be kind. And in particular, next week is a good time to practice that kindness.

Next Week in Tarot

Five of Cups Rx: Making Space for the Next Step 1

From The Star Tarot, this week’s outlook is the Five of Cups (coming in reversed) with advice as the Three of Wands (also reversed).

That R.E.M song comes to mind…Of course, it’s not the end of the world (even as we know it). It’s not even close.

But yeah…I do expect some space to open this week for most of us. Something ends. It may not be space you were looking to open up, though. Sorry about that.

Or maybe you’re somewhere similar to where I’ve been and feel a proximity to emotionality without a “logical” reason for it.

Doesn’t matter. Be kind and gentle, to yourself first and others you encounter. Feel whatever feelings show up. That’s what we do, right? Feel all the feelings and let them flow.

But when you’re done feeling the feelings, look ahead. Always, finish up by looking ahead. Being in the moment is always adequate preparation for taking the next step.

You won’t be able to see it clearly yet, but that’s okay. When we think we see clearly exactly what’s going to happen, that’s all an illusion anyway. At best, we can usually make out the next step or two.

And that’s enough. A little faith and the next step or two is all it takes.

How are you doing out there?

Five of Cups & Chariot (Again)! : Softly Moving Forward

In my other (not-as-woo) enterprises, I sell books. The last few weeks, sales have been agonizingly absent.

Now, I could have let this lead to getting anxious or worked up or scared. That sort of thing creeps in sometimes, but for the most part, I’ve been framing this as an opportunity. It’s a nudge to up my own game, you know? Time and space to improve. Motivation to learn more. So much inspiration I would never have found, had I not been in the position to seek it directly.

I really think everything anyone does is the same. When we find ourselves in circumstances that are not to our liking, it’s not indication we’re screwing up somehow. It’s an opportunity–neigh, an outright call–to level up. Without things not working with way you’d like, you’d never be prompted to improve you know. (And yes, the sales are starting to come back, the way they always do.)

Five of Cups & Chariot (Again)! : Softly Moving Forward 2

Here we’ve got the Five of Cups and the Chariot, both reversed, from the Star Tarot Deck. I have some mixed feelings about using reversals with the intricacy of the images on this deck, but that’s how they came out and I feel it’s appropriate to take into account the reversals.

But the really funny thing? These were the exact same two cards I drew (in a completely different incident) for last week. So repetitive Tarot is repetitive!

First and foremost, the sense of pain out in the wild (from the world at large) should be diminishing, along with the feeling of forcefulness in general. Energy is still moving, but it’s slower and softer than before, which will no doubt come as a relief to most as we’re all sensitive to varying degrees. I’m seeing this less “more of the same” and more “it’s easing.”  This is good news. It doesn’t make it all suddenly feel very soft and fluffy, but I’m seeing this as a definite, collective sense of relief.

The advice I’m seeing in this is to back off a little. Less categorizing of good and bad and less focusing on the fixes. You feel what you feel but don’t grasp at it and milk the emotions, you know? Let go of any grief you’ve got going, at least to the extent you are able. Don’t try to force change or lead the charge. Just take a step back and exhale. Generally, there’s not a bad time for that anyway.

Let the world do whatever it does. You do whatever is true to YOU. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing. Whether you love what you see or absolutely hate it, you always have the choice of how to frame it.  It can either be “proof” of disaster, or prompt for changes. You can BE whatever part of the situation you choose. Personally, I want to ride the change, the new and the improved. And I know damn well that the existence of the old mess is what drives the improvement into the new reality. So I’m good with that.

How are you doing with changes?

If you need a little help with your framing, give me a holler for a one-on-one. And be as happy as you can out there, friends!

Chariot & Five of Cups: Crafting Your Stories

I’ve been reminded lately, how much our conclusions are intertwined with the stories we tell ourselves. Sometimes, I encourage my Tarot people to worry less about whether a story is TRUE-with-a-capitial-T and more about how that story FEELS.

I don’t know how many, if any, take that advice though. It goes so counter to everything we’re taught. We are supposed to be honest with ourselves and ask the tough questions and face difficult truths and yada yada yada. Heck, I’ve probably said similar plenty of times myself.

But I’m not talking about pointing fingers at others when you’ve manifested a problem. I’m talking about filling in the blanks.

If we don’t know the full reasons for something (and c’mon, how often do we really, anyway?), we tend to extrapolate from our perspective, experiences, and unfortunately, fears and insecurities. If the conclusions we use to fill in these blanks are in sync with our perceptions, they will appear “true” or at least strong possibilities because they match where our energy is at.

That’s all fine and well, if the conclusions feel good. But if they don’t? Give yourself some poetic license to draw your own conclusions.

If someone doesn’t answer my email?  I assume it’s not about me! If I don’t hear from a friend in a long time, I assume they are (happily) busy. If I don’t get something I wanted, I assume there is something better coming. If someone dislikes me, I assume it’s not really about me. You could argue I’m being self-delusional and maybe you’d be right. I don’t know. I don’t really care. What I do know is that choosing self-supportive stories means I’m a lot happier and I’ve not suffered any ill consequences for “not facing the truth.”

See, there are lots of different “truths.” There’s your truth and my truth and the scientific truth and the truth of public consensus. I’m going to pick the “truth” that best supports me. The coming week, there is a strong sense of duality and the vibes I’m getting suggest that making conscious choices about what you want to focus on can make a big difference in your overall expericence.

Next Week in Tarot

Chariot & Five of Cups: Crafting Your Stories 3

The cards for next week are The Chariot for the outlook, with Five of Cups for the advice bit, shown here from the lovely Star Tarot Deck.

There’s definitely a driven feel to the events of the coming week and duality inherent in the Chariot’s energy. He harnesses both his light and darkness (as shown by the black and white horses) to get where he wants to go.

There will be those that feel as if they’ve “won,” and those that are grieving (tangible or perceived) losses. Of course, your friendly Tarot readers always love to acknowledge the cups behind the figure in the Five of Cups. But that doesn’t mean the spilled cups still don’t pack a punch in terms of emotional blows. The Five of Cups always signals grief, any way you slice it and when you’re in the middle, you don’t want some smartass Tarot chick telling you it ain’t so bad. What you feel is what you feel.

Taken together, I want to tell you to accept whatever comes. As if you have a choice, right? I mean, you can refuse to “accept it,” but it doesn’t change anything. Feel whatever you feel about it–you can’t really help that anyway–and then, if you can, when you can, as soon as you can, allow for at least the possibility that no matter what, good can come from this.

Both cards echo the same theme: take whatever comes, whether you personally would categorize it as good or bad, and consider it to be a component of progress, transformation, and growth. It all is, you know. We cannot help but expand because it’s our nature. You can tell yourself whatever is the end of all that is good and holy. Or you can tell yourself it’s just a part of the natural process and, in the big picture, this, too, will become part of the greater good.

You don’t choose the outside events, but you DO choose the stories you tell about them. Choose well.

Need some help reorienting your story? Give me a holler for a 1-on-1.  And be well out there, friends. ♥

Five of Cups: Now, now, now!

Healing has been on my mind lately, no doubt because I’ve been Facebook ad-targeted for a support group for healers. It would be great targeting if I self-defined as a (tired/ drained/ overwhelmed) healer. I don’t.

I mean, sure, I’ve studied Reiki. I’m attuned. I’ve said prayers and lit candles and flipped cards and sought answers and done all the things that people who traditionally define as healers do. I just don’t see it as a process of rooting out dysfunction from the past and being the mender.

Not intending to criticize how anyone else conceptualizes the process. If excavating the past is what someone wants to do in their time working with me, that’s what we’ll do. I respect each individual’s right to determine what it is they want to look at. That’s your job to decide, not mine.

Nevertheless, I feel the most direct route to improvements come with bringing attention back around to the now and reclaiming personal power within that now. And that’s what we’re looking at for the coming week.

Next Week in Tarot

With all the retrograde astrological activity, there has been plenty of looking backward lately. Time to switch gears…

Five of Cups: Now, now, now! 4

We have the Five of Cups (or Five of Water) from Osho Zen, along with a big, fat “No” from the Angel Answers cards. *

The short version here is let it go.

The longer version? Don’t try to recreate the past. Likewise, you don’t need to escape it, heal it, change it or understand it. None of this is necessary.

Instead, make peace with the past. Accept whatever your past brought you–good, bad, or indifferent–as an inherent part of the process that helped make your version of now. That’s the real function and gift from the past, always. Every experience goes into the mix of your feelings, beliefs, and preferences NOW.

Your point of power is always NOW. And now, and now, and now. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Now is your only point of power. You create and attract and live from smack dab in the middle of your now. There’s no reason to carry hurt or pain forward. Let it go, man. Accept that all is as it should be and you’ll be on your way to feeling greater power, right now.

Five of Cups: Now, now, now! 5

On the energetic weather of late, here’s a quick update on the retrograde season because there’s been plenty of it!

When a planet is moving backward or retrograde (as envisioned from our perspective on Earth), issues related to that planet’s energy seem to be stalled out, slowed down and otherwise refuse to move forward. Like anytime the energy is not flowing how you’d prefer, you can fight it or flow with it. I’d advise the latter.

  • Mercury went direct August 19! Can I get a “Hallelujah?” Communication issues, electronics weirdness, and travel delays should iron out shortly, with any remaining dust cleaned up by September 2nd, when the planet is effectively out of the rx zone.
  • More good news: Mars is going direct August 27th. Woot! So that trudging through mud feeling, the frustration, passive-aggressive general vibe, and the difficulty making direct progress on any sort of project will ease at the same time.
  • Saturn has been retrograde since mid-April. Saturn will head direct September 6th. Long-term goals and management of responsibilities, especially related to work and parenting (if you are one of those) should start moving forward again.
  • Venus will be going retrograde October 5th – November 16th. This is a great time to review budgets, beauty routines, and decorating choices. If it’s associated with love or money, Venus rx is a good time to take a second look. You’ll see things you don’t ordinarily and make new realizations from looking at existing info.

Ready to move forward again? Let’s get clear with a private consult.

*Regarding the Angel Answers deck: Doreen Virtue is one of the deck’s authors. I bought it for the artwork, which I find stunning. Doreen has had a very public and highly vocal change of heart regarding her spiritual beliefs; she now denounces all divination and Tarot work, including her own past work. I obviously don’t share that perspective. Fortunately, I don’t require Doreen’s blessing to use the decks I like. I’m only interested in my own now. And right now, I think this is a beautiful deck, so I might still use it sometimes…

After it Dies: Tarot, May 22 – 28, 2017

There’s that moment, when you just know without question, something in your life is getting ready to implode. It’s a sick feeling in the pit of the stomach, full of fear and uncertainty. It’s unmistakable and inescapable.

Some of us stubborn sorts don’t accept what we haven’t plotted unless we have no choice. (I mean, that’s my theory, anyway. HAR!) But there are those times, no amount of duct tape is gonna hold it together and all you can do is accept.

You accept because you don’t see any other choice.

But so much of the time–dare I say almost always?–that very feeling portends the most direct path to the next, best step. It provides a clarity that the thickest fog of denial cannot obscure. It cleans out the much of what’s not working or ready for transformation.

Even if it’s not what you wanted. Even if you did everything you could think of, to fix and repair and prop up  and mitigate and delay and avoid. Even if you would give anything you could to change it. Sometimes, momentum progresses beyond our ability to steer.

And when that happens? You feel your feelings, and let them flow. And you look for bits to appreciate. Bittersweet as they may be, those nuggets of appreciation you can find in the chaos will save you.

Look for bits to appreciate in chaos. They will save you. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Tarot has sense of humor. Don’t let anybody tell you any different. Last week, it was “Let it Die.” This week? We’re in the grieving process with the Five of Cups.

In this video, I take a very brief look at grief.

Are you feeling this? Because for just a minute more, I’m still offering bulk session time at $50/hour; you use it however and whenever you want. It’s especially nice for my regular folks to save a little or for someone who would like to work with me as affordably as possible. Just Paypal me here with how many hours you’d like to reserve. It’s a minimum of one hour ($50) for this option, please.

And be well out there!

Stand Back: Weekly Tarot Forecast, Feb 7 – 12, 2017

Dealing with strife is something we’ve made harder than it needs to be. And in doing so, we’ve also made it far more painful.

Imagine having someone close to you, living out a substance abuse scenario in glorious full-color…ouch, right? Most who find ourselves there have a number of very understandable, very uncomfortable reactions. None feel very good.

We worry–how many ways could this go south, and how many people will it take out with it? We visualize disaster–and the expectation, in seeing a train wreck in the making, is not without basis.

We try to reign it in before impact. But there’s no way to do that for someone else. And a train wreck is a train wreck. Once momentum hits critical mass, it’s going where it’s going and nobody trying to grab on will make an impact. They’ll only get beat up trying.

(Pictured train wreck is the Montparnasse derailment of 1895. I would have wanted to be standing back, when that train came through.)

All the come-to-Jesus talking, all the bargaining and the watching and the trying to control what cannot be controlled, all the begging and wishing and raging won’t change for another person. Because that’s not your job or your right. Only for you.

But what if…what if you opted out of the drama? What if your intention, your perspective from a step back, made it possible for you to honor the good in a situation without immersing yourself in the pain?

I want to harmonize with what I believe to be good.

What would your life look like, if you tried to live that intention? What kind of vibe do you think that would build for you? What if you didn’t try to figure it out for anybody else, or you didn’t try to compensate for what you perceive as weakness, and just focused on what you love and appreciate? They are both part of what we opt to see as reality. There’s no universal law that says focusing on the crap side brings rewards.

When you focus on your love, on your belief in freedom, and the goodness you’d like to see for those you care about and the world at large…you become a mirror for that energy. You amplify it. You shine it and help others who’d like to reflect it, just by your example. Your influence grows and you feel good. You can actually make a difference and not get bloodied doing it. You get there by standing back from the “full reality” and reflecting the better reality.

Everybody runs their own (metaphorical) trains. Best to step back when you see one barreling through, holding on to he best of intentions and faith, while you mind your own itinerary.

Next Week’s Forecast

Stand Back: Weekly Tarot Forecast, Feb 7 - 12, 2017 6

(Text below as appears in the video. )

The first thing that jumps out at me about this combination of cards here, is there is going to be a certain degree of a need for detachment. And distance. As the week wears on.

Monday is Judgment. Which I find a little bit ironic, because Judgment, to me, one of the least judgy cards in the deck. However, the idea that you take a step back from blame or not blame, being happy with something or not being happy with something, and just kind of evaluate results. Evaluate, “Hey, this worked out for me. Hey, this could have worked out better.” It’s kind of what the Judgment energy is all about, so Monday, whatever you can do to kind of step back and look at things in that light, will be good for you overall.

Tuesday, we’ve got the Magician reversed. So, things will be going on that are out of your control. Get over it. Sorry, that’s not very warm and fuzzy. But if it’s out of your control, it’s out of your control.

Wednesday, we have the World! Upright. And to work with the energy of the World, you do your best to do your best. And don’t worry about what other people are doing. Take advantage of your abilities, your expertise, your knowledge. And use what you’ve got to the fullest extent you can. That’s how you work with the World.

Thursday, we have the Star, which is kind of a nice interlude here.. The Star is about hope. Not promise, not sure thing. But optimism. And bright light, and what I want to tell you about this card in particular and Thursday is: give yourself permission to be optimistic. Give yourself permission to hope for the best and not dream of the worst. Give yourself permission to look on the bright side. Even if it seems like it’s itty bitty tiny small. Okay. It will kind of open the way for energy to flow for you on Thursday and make it a little bit easier.

Give yourself permission to be optimistic, without cause. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Friday I’ve got the Nine of Wands! This guy is pretty much always tired. So, you know, that is what it is. I will say that when I see the Nine of Wands, I do know that you can hold out. You can get through whatever you need to get through. In this case, the week! And, you’ll make it, just maybe you’re kind of sick of it. The feeling that I’m getting with this is, just, the feeling of kind of being burned out, and, and tired of hearing the same thing and maybe a little cranky. But you know, you do what you need to do.

So…don’t stress anything. Yes, you will get where you need to be and you are towards the end of the cycle. By the time you hit a nine, so that’s something to feel good about. But it is what it is.

Saturday, I’ve got the Five of Cups. And I don’t know what to tell you about that, other than there’s a possibility emotions are going to be twangy and people are gonna be feeling what’s not right, feeling what they don’t have, feeling a sense of loss. Obviously this is a forecast for the collective, so, it’s not super individual in that sense. But the collective is made up of a lot of individuals.

So whatever you’re feeling in that regard, feel it! You know, let it come, let it go, be kind to yourself in between. It’s not that hard. Just, all of it passes. Everything passes. Life is a temporary condition! Life is a transitory condition. So, you’re feeling bad, that certainly is, too. Give yourself a chance to get over it. Okay?

And Sunday, I have the Four of Wands reversed. And, I’m reading this today as, you have to make a little extra effort to make a place feel safe. Or comfortable for you. I think it’s worth it, but it’s not automatic. You have to make effort. Um, doesn’t necessarily have to be a big to-do. Although it could be, if you wanted it to be. But…take steps to, to, to create a comfortable environment for yourself. A corner of your home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, or you know, a night out with friends, with people that you really trust, or, or whatever. Safe space. Not in an overbearing kind of way where you tell other people what they can and can’t do, but make a safe space for you.Okay?

The overview or advice card that we’ve got for the week is Death reversed! That’s funny, it makes me think, “Death warmed over! Death warmed over!”

And what I want to say about that is…there’s a tendency right now to want to push, push, push, push, push or to try to hurry things along. And it’s not gonna work. So, why bother? Understand that what you think is the end of something may not be, or what you think something that should be ended, maybe there’s a purpose you don’t necessarily see. You don’t know all there is to know about it, but just take things as they come, okay? Take things as they come. It’s, it ain’t over until that fat lady sings. And, you don’t need to sing.

For the affirmation card, from the Louise Hay deck, I have “My future is glorious.” Ohhhh. And the back says, “I now live in limitless love, light and joy. All is well in my world.”

Now, that particular sentiment might be a little much for where you’re feeling or how you’re feeling. But the idea of focusing on that, you know:  you live in love, you have control over that. Not whether or not you have a lover in your life, but whether or not you live in a loving state, yes, you do! You have complete control over that.

So, joy and light and love are things you have control over. And if you look to consciously shift your focus, your mood, your vibration to a place of joy and love and life, your future will not only feel more glorious, it will become more glorious.

It’s okay to feel however you feel, you know, but do what you can to raise that, raise that, raise that a little bit at a time.

Are you feeling it? Take a step back and give yourself permission to drive your own train.
