King of Pentacles & 5 of Wands Rx: Full Table

There’s still an edge in the (energetic) weather out there. I assume you’ve noticed? Many people are wrought up and many are angry or scared.

I mean, that doesn’t mean you have to be upset yourself. It’s certainly okay if you are. I’m not going to judge you! But whenever you can find ways to soften it up, feel a little better, it’s good to do that. It’s a kindness to yourself and it can encourage others within your sphere of influence. So it’s public service as well. Har!

The world is changing and disruption is always part of evolution.  It doesn’t mean it’s necessary to be stuck in it.

You know what really helped me? I gave myself permission not to feel like I’m on the hook for deciding how best to solve every problem.

It sounds kind of ridiculous when I put it that way. But we do that, to ourselves. We feel like we must generate an informed opinion on the rightness and wrongness of what everyone in the world does. We think we have to be for or against every idea about how to live or rule our world. We feel like we must be personally responsible for making sure everyone’s needs are met and the world is running smoothly. So often, we feel like we must understand everything and most of all, DO SOMETHING.

I gave myself permission to pick and choose, how I want to focus my own energy. It’s enough to wish well out unto the world without holding myself individually responsible for the entire execution.  I can send out my good wishes, kind thoughts, magic mojo and prayers out there for the betterment of all. And best of all, I don’t have to figure out how those intentions come about. I have faith I’ll get to be part of it, in all the ways I’m inspired to participate. But even from the start, I am participating by holding and amplifying the good vibes. I love that job.

Next Week in Tarot

This week, the outlook card is the King of Pentacles, with advice coming in as the Five of Wands reversed from the colorful Star Tarot.

I want to tell you there is enough, of everything–enough food, enough time, enough love, enough money. The King of Pentacles always has enough and then some. But even more than that? There is enough room for all of us. You don’t need to fight. I mean, you can. I’m certainly not going to try and stop anybody, or I’d be fighting, too. But it’s not necessary.

I’m hearing The Who in my head.

“I don’t need to fight, to prove I’m right. I don’t need to be forgiven…”

You know what? You don’t. None of us do.  Of course, if we claim that freedom for ourselves, we have to extend it to others. That’s only fair, right?

This week–appreciate all the food on your table, literally and metaphorically. Expect to have what you need. Expect others to find what they need. Exercise your faith. Circumnavigate as much of the conflict as you can. Use your own conscious focus to  It will make for a much more comfortable (and satisfying) week.

Be well, friends.

Emotional Grace Period, Recommended. Weekly Tarot, March 20 – 26, 2017

I am an emotional creature. I value strong emotion as an important part of who I am, though it sometimes presents it’s own complications. To compensate, I’ve had to develop some skill in managing emotional response without overwhelming anyone too near the strike zone.

Thank you, Saturn.

Naturally, I’m not always perfect at this endeavor. You can just ask the landlady, after my butterfly bush meltdown.

But more often than not, I am successful. I step back. I ground. I meditate, at least when I get to the point that I can. I journal. I go outside. I clean. I take a nap. I distract myself in whatever way seems to help. In short, I do everything I know how to do to talk myself off that ledge.

I mean, dumping an inferno of emotion purges, that’s for sure. But while it relieves the pressure, that out-of-control feeling just sucks and there’s always a hangover after the fact. It’s just not who I want to be, you know? That’s not how I want to feel. So I do my damnedest to take a different route.

Next week, I’m expecting how we handle intense emotion to have relevance.

Full forecast video.

We’ve got a slew of repeats from recent weeks and inversions galore. It has the feel of sludging through mud, man. And notice the dominance of the cups in the week’s cards. Emotions remain “a thing” with a friendly, yellow-alert level Tarot-reader advisory to reign in knee-jerk responses (lest you have something to regret later). We’re wanting to sidestep the collateral damage factor. It can be done, but will require restraint to pull off. Enforce a grace period before acting on strong emotions this week. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Weekly Tarot Forecast in Bullet Points

  • Monday, Eight of Swords rx. You’ll have the chance to free yourself from the knots you’ve been tied up in, right here. Open window of opportunity, and you’ll likely get a nudge to go. Don’t hesitate, it moves fast.
  • Tuesday, Three of Cups rx. Don’t expect your friends to necessarily “get you.” That’s too much to ask. Look to feel comfortable in your own skin and the rest doesn’t matter. It’s your job to get you and nobody else’s.
  • Wednesday, King of Cups rx. Emotional impulsivity is a potential issue. If you’re feeling strongly, don’t complete the real world activity without emotionally stabilizing. Powerful emotions that are very short term.
  • Thursday, Five of Wands rx. Pick your battles! I mean, you can pick all of ’em if you want, but it would be unnecessary bickering.
  • Friday, Three of Pentacles rx. Life won’t go as you planned. It’s still okay. Just be flexible.
  • Saturday, Ten of Cups upright. YAY! This is a good time. Hook up with your family–blood or heart family, either way. Surround yourself with loving vibes however you can, even if it’s just the thoughts you are thinking.
  • Sunday, Empress rx. Even inverted, it’s still a good card. Prioritize self-care. Don’t expect everything will just fall into place perfectly today, because maybe not. But progress is good enough.
  • Overview/Advice: Knight of Cups reversed. FEELINGS are very strong and change very quickly. Give yourself a grace period, between feeling strong emotion and taking action this week. Grace periods will save your tail.

Maybe your experience will be different than what I’m expecting–I hope so! But even if it’s not, you can do this. Just give yourself a grace period before taking action to let the feelings enough that clarity can re-emerge. Take any real-world actions once you’re bathed in the energy you would like for the outcome and you’ll do well.

Much love, and stay safe out there.

Mine Vs. Yours: Weekly Tarot, Mar 6 – 12, 2017

The grocery checker looked me up and down.

Are my pants irking her?

Some people don’t approve of fuzzy pants at the grocery. What harm they see in it, I have no clue. It’s not a funeral, for Godssakes. Am I disrespecting the broccoli? I just want some coffee creamer and chocolate-something. Should I have to change clothes for that?

I think not, but you probably guessed as much. Besides. The world needs more color and I’m doing my part.

Doesn’t matter if she likes my pants or not. I’m in her line. So be it.

“I just love your hair!” she says, when it’s my turn up. Oh.

Now, I don’t worry so much about what people think any more–a blessing of age. But there was a time, once upon a self-conscious phase ago, when I chastised myself for wanting to wear fuzzy pants everywhere.

“You just need to grow up!” I’d say sternly inside my head.

“What kind of a person lives their lives in fuzzy pants?” Of course the answer to that is easy enough. The kind of person who really likes fuzzy pants!

My job is to decide what pants suit me that day, and wear them.  Not to bother about outside reaction to the pants. That checking other faces instead of hitting up the mirror is what trips us up.

Soon as you look outside yourself to see how you're doing, you've lost the plot. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

This coming week is a lot like that.

Daily Bullet Points

It ain’t touchy-feeling this week, folks. But it doesn’t have to be scratchy-ouchie, either. Up to you, to play the cards as they come.

  • Monday, Eight of Swords. Limitations are self-imposed. In the context of having “scripts,” know people may not play their prescribed roles. Focus on just your own role instead for better outcome.
  • Tuesday, Eight of Wands. The sense of unsettledness is not fun, but short term. Everything is already underway, dude! Chill and let the energy that’s already in motion play out.
  • Wednesday, Five of Wands. Are you fighting? Do you really need to be? Sidestep unnecessary kerfuffle and choose your battles. People have wildly divergent interpretations of the same events.  Respect and let be. Because if you try to force others to become you, it won’t go well.
  • Thursday, Knight of Wands rx. Be wary of acting impulsively. Stay heart-centered, yes. But don’t insist that others understand you. That’s much less important than being you. You stay in your joy without looking for anybody else to validate your excitement.
  • Friday, Six of Pentacles rx. Be generous with assumptions. Assume the best of all.
  • Saturday, Page of Swords rx. Miscommunications and wires crossed. Possibility of bluntness, without malice but misunderstandings and sore feelings are possible. Be aware and you can miss than bus.
  • Sunday, Knight of Cups. Emotionally supportive tone to close the week. Good day to bask in love, in whatever form it exists in your love. Focus on loving feelings

Summing it up: The less you try to control others, situations, and conditions outside yourself, the better off you’ll be. All control starts at home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html. With you, in your own head, I’d add. You know, In case you had already turned your attention to spouse or kids or something…snort.

Perspective: Tarot Forecast, Nov. 28 – Dec. 4

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot of the power of perspective. How focus changes your experience in profound ways.

I’m on this private crochet group on Facebook. It’s sizable, well over 60,000 members. There’s been an influx of new members, and a lot more off-topic posting. People have been discussing at length very personal situations, relationship issues, money problems, illness and drama of all sorts.

The admins of a group posted a “reign it in” notice, and people are responding, some quite strongly. Some are grateful–they consider the crochet group to be a “happy place” for them, a respite from everyday drama or their own problems. Others see it as heartless move to put the kibosh on those who require personal support. Some consider the admins hypocritical for posting anything personal themselves. Some see the admins as preserving the mission of the group, protecting against trolls and scammers and keeping the focus from becoming eroded into nothingness.

I’ve managed large online communities. It’s not an easy job. There are as many different perspectives as there are group members. And all of life is like that, whether it’s an online group or world events or what you are serving for dinner.

We think it’s outside events that determine our experience, but nothing could be further from the truth! Every single event or circumstance we observe is filtered through our belief system, our sense of rightness, our preferences and values and perspective.

And this is something to keep in mind this week. There are as many different experiences as their are individuals experiencing. You do not know how or why others come to the conclusions they have, because you are not them! You do get to decide, however, by the power of your focus and thoughts, what YOUR experience is like. I plan on taking full advantage of that tidbit, myself.

20161118_165853_hdr

Overall, I like the looks of the coming week with a caveat: it IS what you make of it, or perhaps it would be more precise to say, “it is what you believe it to be, by nature of your perspective.” That’s the key, really.

What you see anywhere you look isn’t set by reality. It’s set by your perceptions of reality. And those perceptions of reality are something you have control over by directing your thoughts. You can turn up or down your thoughts by conscious choice.

If you don't like what you see, change how you look at it. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

If you maintain awareness of your thoughts and let feelings of discomfort be your early warning system that a change may be in order, you’ll have a good week.

Monday, Eight of Pentacles: A day for checking off your list and getting it done. Do pay attention to craftsmanship and quality, doing the best you can with your work. On an Eight of Pentacles day, it’s a Virgo vibe. It matters. So huddle in and produce the best you can today!

Tuesday, Four of Swords: You can exhale and relax. It’s safe to take a breather. Expect an easy-going day, where you can take it a little easier and things will still go well. Good day to replenish your energy.

Wednesday, Seven of Cups rx: Last week, this card (upright) was the overview card for the week. A repeater! Some things out there are not what they seem, but you have the ability to see through them. When something catches your attention and you get that little funny feeling something is off? That’s your psychic vibes telling you something IS off. Pay attention, please. Like the way a dog cocks it’s head at the sound of one of those high-pitched whistles? Like that. Listen to it. Any info that’s not quite right, you’ll be alerted if you’re alert to your alerts.

Thursday, Ten of Pentacles: Score! Maybe a check, a raise, a present, a great dinner, a great deal? Could be any of these. Great day for money, or family, or multi generational connection. Expect a payoff. Often financial but not always. Looks good!

Friday, Queen of Pentacles: Still looking good for money. Good day to cook. Earth mother vibe. Cleaning? If you need to. Mama energy here. This Queen is particularly concerned with concrete, physical manifestation. Cook, paint, maybe too cold for gardening. But crafts or other forms of creation? That’s good. Someone may offer concrete assistance, or you may provide it. Warm, comfortable energy so I’m expecting a good day for most.

Saturday, Nine of Pentacles: You’ll be able to refine a skill, especially a physical skill. If you’ve been learning something new or planning on it, it can really click into place today. New skills and techniques should come easily today.

Sunday, Five of Wands: Ugh. Uproar, dissention or frustration might be out there today. Not necessarily personal unless you make it personal. Choose your battles! I wouldn’t go fighting on Facebook today. Not worth it. Others may be irritating and you may want some space.

Overview/Advice, Strength: Most renditions, you see a young woman holding open a lion’s mouth. The lion is not a threat. The idea is that gentle, persistent intention, steady, light, but ongoing is the energy you use to resolve anything here. One step, one small step, again and again. It’s never heavy-handed or harsh. It’s quiet and gentle, uncompromising and unyielding. So this is the approach you want to use this week, whether things are going your way or not. Keep a slow, steady attention to whatever matters to you most and that’s how you progress.

Affirmation: I am safe in the Universe and all life loves and supports me. This one always cracks me up because there are a few folks that don’t love me.

I know, right? Ha!

But the idea is there is a huge amount of support in the Universe – and that we are safe and supported. Our inner beings are there, loving and supporting us and we have what we need. Now we all have our own beliefs, so I cannot give you my own knowing over this. But I can suggest to you, if you’re not feeling this, try reaching for it a bit and seeing if you cannot turn it up. A worthy experiment to see how it does shift your experience. And as one who has undertaken it, I highly recommend this perspective.

Looks like the week is going to be pretty good with a wave or two otherwise. The waves you can sidestep if you choose to. I recommend choosing to!

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving and and awesome week ahead. Be well!

Do you consciously choose how you want to feel?

Seeing What You Believe: Tarot Forecast, Nov 21 – 27

I used to work graveyard shift, in a data processing office.  I liked the quiet of it. There’s a certain peacefulness about empty cubicles and dimmed light.

One night, my boss wasn’t coming in. So it fell upon me to run the daily backup. This task was a big deal, getting it done properly and on time. I’d had only a quickie, 1-off training and I was insecure about screwing it up.

My boss was going to be available via phone during the process and repeatedly encouraged me to call her if I had questions. Which I did! But with just a few pointers along the way, I got it done and daily backup went off without hitch. Yay!

So you can imagine I was just a smidge taken aback the next day to hear my boss loudly and liberally complaining. About what?

How many phone calls she fielded from me.

Whaaaaaa?!?!

I was beyond pissed.

It’s funny now, but man, then? Whew.

Back then, I didn’t understand that it had nothing whatsoever to do with ME.

It never does, because it cannot. By definition, what other people do represents their own perspective, drives and needs. We cannot see from another’s eyes nor walk in their moccasins, so we don’t know for sure what motivates them. People generally do what they do because they believe it is best for them. And we may understand a fraction of their process for getting there if that much–or think we do.

The funny thing is, when I remember this night, I see different things at different points in my life, too. My perspective has changed, which changes the meaning of the incident to me. One can only see through their own eyes; the range of color visible is completely determined by beliefs.

You see what you believe. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

This week is a lot like that.

20161118_164145_hdr

Lots of inverted cards. Life is going to be moving a little slower than most of us would prefer. Doesn’t mean nothing is happening, only that you have to take your time and work your way through, patiently. Know that the superficial appearances do not necessarily represent a greater reality. Withhold judgement.

I know, I know.

But it will keep you out of trouble, honest.

Monday, Justice: Be fair, be balanced, and weigh out the facts. Take your time to make sure all is fair, and don’t expect unfair advantage for yourself or capitulate to demands of others for unfair advantage. Fair, fair, fair! All things must remain even-handed for the best possible outcome.

Tuesday, Ace of Pentacles rx: Trouble getting going–starting the car, hearing your alarm, waking up, getting a new project underway? Just part of the vibe today. Take it slow and easy. Determination is fine, but don’t get frustrated if it takes two or three shots at the basket to get the ball through the hoop.

Wednesday, Strength rx: Feeling tone similar to yesterday. Impatience or potential tendency to give up. Like when you are a crocheter, and you mess up, you may have to undo and redo, trying more than once to get the hang of up. Don’t throw up your hands and give up! Relax a bit. Acknowledge yes, give yourself some space, and come back to it later for a better result. You’ll get it eventually.

Thursday, Five of Wands rx: Don’t fight! This is the battle card. Reversed, I’d advise you to choose your battles and know, most are not worth fighting. Politics, for example, would be best left off the Thanksgiving menu. Look for the kindness and thoughtfulness and positive qualities of the people in your vicinity and ignore the rest and you’ll have a good day. Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, Nine of Pentacles rx: Some knowledge is eluding you due lack of emotional readiness. You may be hearing part of the story, some of the facts are not being included. Just let situations ride without having to draw conclusions this red hot minute. It will work out better that way.

Saturday, Four of Swords rx: Difficulty relaxing and possibility that folks are wound up. Get the fact this is an emotional event, not an outer reality event. If you’re focusing on the spot on the carpet instead of the rest of the (very clean carpet), your experience will be dominated by the spot, not the nice bits. Be aware of the power of your focus.

Sunday, Eight of Pentacles rx: You may not complete all your plans for this time period. Some things may not work just so. That’s okay! Do what you can and realize it’s not the end of the world. Shuffle around what doesn’t get completed. Schedule light, and save some time for something encouraging.

Overview/Advice, Seven of Cups: A cautionary tale, the moral of which you don’t know what you don’t know. Things are not always as they seem. The feel around this entire week is that deliberate, conscious action, focusing on what you want to see and dismissing what you dislike, and allowing things to play out is the best course. Some things are just not as the initially appear, both on a personal level as well as collective level. Reserve judgement. And I wouldn’t be running my mouth about controversial topics lest I end up eating those words later.

Affirmation: I prosper wherever I turn. If you want to be more prosperous as most do, start looking for what is already going well. Many times people looking for more whatever in their lives, we begin focusing on what makes us want that prosperity–the lack! Start looking for what is already working to turn up the FEELING of prosperity. Don’t bother taking score, but look for ways you can feel it now, turning up appreciation. This is how you attract prosperity from multiple directions.

Have you noticed seeing what you believe?

Freedom Via Perspective: Weekly Tarot, October 17 – 23, 2016

I had a meltdown last week. And I’m thinking what I learned from it, will come in handy this upcoming week.

It was over my butterfly bush.

I planted this bush years ago and it grew and grew and grew, crazy big. I let the morning glory vines run amok over it. The butterflies and hummingbirds and bees ate from the blooms. I kept birdseed in the bush, and scattered seed down in front. This bush became a haven for the local wildlife. It gave me some privacy (along with the tree that sprouted up next to it) oh, the smell of those delicate lavender blooms in the breeze!

butterflybush

Wild and untamed. Just like me.

I adored that butterfly bush and pretty much every day sat outside and admired it. I was even planning on, come time to move, taking a whole bunch of branches so I could plant baby butterfly bushes wherever I ended up. My lovely bush’s children! See, I had this figured out.

I’m not kidding, by the way. I’d discussed this with the bush.

So when my landlady stopped by to tell me she needed to “trim it away from the house.” I winced, knowing she’d take way too much. But you know, what are you gonna do?

"Trimmed."

“Trimmed.”

When I later went outside to survey the damage, I expected to be unhappy. I didn’t expect the empty space that greeted me. She killed the bush and the tree next to it and pretty much everything else, excepting a cluster of random flowers that had migrated a couple years ago and a pathetic little shrub I’d never cared for much.

I freaked the Hell out. I cried for two days after and–though I’m not proud of it–became hysterical when the landlady came over to “smooth things over” after the fact, suggesting I should buy a bench to put on the pile of mostly empty rocks.

It was not pretty.

Of course, I eventually did what one does when they’re upset about anything. I looked for ways to feel better.

I bought a shepherd’s hook, and some colorful and butterfly-friendly flowers (in pots!) to help fill that space. And while it’s certainly not the same and it will take a while to rebuild my wildlife oasis, it IS much more cheery than the rocks and it did make me feel a lot better. I can now look over there without feeling upset.

20161005_153415_hdr

And once I started feeling better, I realized it’s not the bush itself that gave me so much joy. That’s what I first thought, in grieving the bush. But it’s not true.

When the landlady looked at the bush, she saw an unkempt mess growing too close to the building and making the property look run down. I get that. Whereas I saw this beautiful, wild hunk of nature that fed birds and butterflies and ME.

But it was the exact same bush we were looking at. It wasn’t that one of us was right and the other wrong. It wasn’t the bush itself that gave me so much joy (or her so much frustration). It was how we thought about that bush, shaping feelings around it.

It was specifically my love and appreciation for that bush that gave me such great joy. The love and appreciation came from ME. It grew in my heart, not in front of my house.

The bush was my excuse to feel good, sure. And it was easy to use it that way. But I can love and appreciate anything! My capacity for love cannot be cut down with a chainsaw. I can love and appreciate new flowers, new bird feeders, and the opportunity to learn more about how to attract wildlife I enjoy so much. Happiness doesn’t come from butterfly bushes, even ones so majestic as mine was.

Appreciation isn't born from circumstance. It's from how you think about circumstance. Click To Tweet

All feelings are like that. It’s not outside conditions that determine happiness. It’s how you feel about those conditions. And how you feel about those conditions is driven by how you think about those conditions. You have control over what you’re thinking.

Do you realize how much pure, unadulterated freedom there is in knowing that? Use that insight. Don’t let my butterfly bush die in vain!

Audio Version of Forecast

We’ve got lots of Cups and Swords this week. Expect for emotion to run high in the beginning of the week particularly, and strong potential for conflict afoot. So let’s see how we can get you through this as intact and as happy as possible!

Monday, Five of Wands: A contentious start. There are plenty of things people are fighting about. It’s out there. But is is something you want to engage in? Sure, you can. But does it help and does it make you happy? Just know you can either engage or not. Personally? I’m gonna go hide from it all and dig on my flowers. But what you do is up to you.

Tuesday, The Moon: Lies out there. Lies, lies, lies. You may be hearing the lies or be tempted to tell the lies. But reality is blurry today. I’d suggest to keep yourself on the straight and narrow, honesty-wise. You can use this flavor of energy constructively for creative projects, old fashioned escapism like good novels, movies, or art. Anything Neptune-ish. A nice bath will wash away a lot! Good nap day, too. Get plenty of sleep.

Wednesday, Ace of Cups: A touch emotional and a little raw. Not overwhelming, but a little raw. So tread lightly and be kind, starting with yourself and working your way out.

Thursday, Five of Cups Rx: This energy is a little lighter reversed but still not super fun. There is a feeling of being let down or disappointment.  To deal with it, stick to what you know is right and feels okay to you and don’t worry about anybody else. Not like you control that anyway. But give yourself permission to focus on you. Manage your own feelings.

Friday, King of Cups: Emotional maturity is the order of the day. Be kind, generous and compassionate. Which always starts in the mirror with yourself, period. Not a battle day. More a supportive circle of people kind of day. Either do it for others or hang with those who do it for you.

Saturday, Five of Swords: Contentious energy. While the Five of Wands (Monday) is the fight, this is the victor emerging from argument. On a personal level, it’s really going to be about how emotionally attached you are a particular outcome. If you feel emotionally defeated, realize it’s a FEELING based on your thoughts, not a REALITY based on the hard and fast. You have control over thoughts.

Sunday, Hermit Rx: Mix alone and social time. Don’t completely withdraw to your cave. Spend some time for you, some time interacting, which will make the best day.

Overview/Advice, Queen of Wands Rx: Avoid stubbornness and controlling tendencies. This Queen Rx can be a control freak. Other people’s issues? BUTT OUT! Life will go a whole lot better that way.

Affirmation: I love life. There is a lot of struggle and strife right out our windows right now. You decide whether you sit and stare out the window, whether you go outside and engage in the fighting, or whether you pull down the shades and turn on a movie. Focus on what makes you happy, your intentions, desires, needs and wants. Let the world deal with their own needs and issues. It’s not your job to fix the world! But you can help–by improving your experience. The collective is nothing more than individuals doing their part. You want a happy world? You do your part by turning on your happiness. Each person, doing their own thing in their own lives, inspiring by their example, is how collective change is born. So be that person.

How are you doing staying in your own lane?
