Not Driving that Car: Weekly Flow Tarot, Jan. 5 – 11

thumbnail

To me, this is an almost invisible weekly forecast. It’s like the most important stuff going on is between your ears, you know? Not that is unusual in and of itself, but it’s pronounced this week. We’ve got 3 Major Arcana cards, so the week is officially a big deal. And all the other suits are represented. Hence, some variety.

But another thing that jumps at me, both the affirmation card and the advice/overview card give the same, very clear directive: Go with the flow and do not try to control it. Ride, don’t drive. And backseat (or passenger seat) driving counts!

Monday, Significator – Seven of Swords: Self-deception is definitely a temptation today. This can go either way, incidentally. You can decide you’re being so much more awesome (or blameless) than you really are, or you can decide you totally suck and take responsibility for what’s not yours. Just try to sidestep the temptation by prodding yourself to back up self-assessment with facts today, okay?

Tuesday, What is Hidden – Temperance: You don’t see everything that’s gone into the mix. If something doesn’t make sense today, understand there are other factors that you cannot see. Partial information, and hidden influences at play. Sit tight.

Wednesday, Future Life – Judgment Reversed: Who did what ceases to be as important once the mess is cleaned up. I’m reminded of a quote I cannot find at the moment, about ignorant people seeking to lay blame, whereas the wise seek to find solutions. It’s relevant to understand how things happen, sure. But who’s at fault matters a lot less than how to clean it up.

Thursday, Friends and Family – Three of Wands Reversed: Loved ones are dealing with their own disrupted plans. Doesn’t mean the world is blowing up, but they may be distracted or under stress. Be kind.

Friday, Health – Ace of Pentacles Reversed: Improvement on the health front is likely, but more needs to be done. Ace of Pentacles would suggest food and exercise is relevant. Hello, New Year’s Resolutions!

Saturday, Present – Seven of Cups Reversed: Confusing! Reversed, the Seven of Cups doesn’t say you’re being fooled. It says you cannot TELL if you have a clear view or not.

Sunday, Lesson – Justice Reversed: Sometimes circumstances are not fair. Sometimes people don’t seem to get their due. But this lesson isn’t so much “life isn’t fair” as I’m reading it; I’m taking it as a notice about how life responds to our personal sense of balance and groundedness. If you’re not balanced, your life is not, either. Get yourself aright, Grasshopper!

Advice/Overview – Five of Wands Reversed: It’s not worth fighting what happens this week, simple as that. Not worth fighting family or friends. Not worth fighting to have everything just your way. Look for calm, Zen, peace this week. Let events unfold. Don’t try to force. Be the grass in the wind, not the brittle branch, okay? That’s your assignment.

Affirmation – I let go of all expectations. Pretty self-explanatory, huh? Don’t try to script out the whole “life movie.” Take what comes and look to find what you’re grateful for not only each day, but each morning, afternoon and evening. Allow the Universe to do it’s thing. You may as well accept the Universal schedule because seriously? No other choice.

Zen is the keyword this week and I’d repeat that affirmation–I let go of all expectations–over and over every time you feel anxious. It’s a good one.

Fogged Up Windows-Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Sept. 8 – 14

Tarot Forecast Sept 8 -14

Looking at this weekly flow as a whole, it smells very strongly of transition. Hard-to-hold-on-to, slippery and unclear transition. Sorry, I’m not expecting this to be a popular conclusion. But no matter how thick the fog, the sun always comes out sooner or later.

Not shocking, starting out with that Pisces (confusing!) full moon, but I am having a hard time seeing much where this is going other than the constant? Change! The number of inverted cards points to the potential for confusion and delays. Major Arcana cards for Thursday, Friday and Sunday indicate some gravity to what’s up this week. I do find it interesting that the cards from the The Deck of 1000 Spreads are almost all “Influence” cards. That suggests to me that lots of outside factors are in play through the week in terms of what you’re reacting to. However, your reactions always belong to you! Also, if you don’t expect immediate gratification, you’ll be a lot happier because I don’t think many are likely to get it.

Monday, Question – Five of Wands Reversed: Who’s on my side? Am I angry without knowing why? What am I really fighting for? These types of questions, especially acknowledging conflict that is not out in the open, can lead to useful insights today.

Tuesday, Disappointment – Six of Pentacles Reversed: I’m reading this as sadness over a lack of engagement from others, a lack of contribution. There’s almost a loneliness here, like we are NOT all in this together. Bah! For yourself, don’t give with expectations or strings attached because it will backfire. Make sure your offers are honest and upfront, from the heart without ulterior motive. A little detachment can also ease the sting of not being happy with what others put forth. You’re responsible for YOU. That’s more than enough.

Wednesday, Surprise – Three of Cups Reversed: Still a bit of isolation here, like the group is either not on board with plans or only partially supportive. This isn’t getting kicked out of the club entirely, but it’s not being the guest of honor, either. Be sure you allow people space to have their own perspectives and don’t assume you know what everybody else things. If you can avoid being oversensitive, you may learn something from listening to alternative perspectives now.

Thursday, What is Hidden – The World: The weight you carry and the responsibility with which you’ve toted it is not visible to the rest of the world. This isn’t good or bad so much as it just “is.” Efforts are appropriate and effective, but not outwardly obvious.

Friday, Crossing – Judgment: How others see you may be weighing heavily. Or maybe it’s how you see yourself. One of my life guidelines I try very hard to follow is to never behave in private in a way I would not be comfortable with becoming public.

Saturday, Attitudes and Thoughts – Nine of Wands Reversed: This is a very tired day! Feelings of being worn out, unsure of where you’re going and just wanting to “get it over with” are likely. This would be an excellent day for some recreation, down-time or distraction. Ruminating on issues is to be avoided. Let the week sink in without forcing yourself to come up with “conclusions” right now. A little laughter does a world of good today.

Sunday, Hopes and Fears – Death: I’m seeing this as the “it can’t go on the way it has been” declaration. Both hope and fear something serious is going to completely and utterly change. This is one way to end a “transitional” week for sure. Obviously, the Death is not literal here, but a belief or perception could easily just slip right out of your hands today.

Overview/Advice – Page of Cups Reversed: Don’t let yourself become too emotionally overwrought. Talk to friends, journal, meditate, take a nap (my favorite!), just do whatever it is that you “do” in order to manage emotional demands. I think there will be plenty this week and they need to be looked after.

Affirmation – Decide. One potential benefit of having outside input withdrawn is clarity. A times, we lose focus on what stuff is really ours and what comes from outside us. Sometimes people ask me, “What do my guides want me to do?” as if there was one right answer to how to live that is supported by Spirit and infinite numbers of wrong answers. Your free will matters, not just to you but also to your spiritual support team. They will support your growth in whatever way you find it, but the route, the means, the easy or hard part? Well, that’s up to you. If you don’t learn a lesson one way, you’ll learn it another. Once you’ve made a clear decision about what it is you want in your life, however, and put that clear decision out there to the Universe, you’ll often find the support you need to accomplish it serendipitously show up. So this week, don’t obsess over who approves of your life and who doesn’t. Who cares?! Instead, use this week to obtain greater clarity about what you really want it in your life. Times of transition are tough, but they also offer great opportunity. You’d be silly to pass that up.

This week has the feel of fogged up windows to me. Just because you cannot see what’s on the other side of the glass doesn’t mean it’s not there. Soon enough the sun will come out and the fog will lift. In the meantime, just keep driving—carefully, that is!

Week Ahead, 4/28: Not that bad…

Eh. Kinda ouchy but still manageable…

Short version: It’s probably not as bad as you think–a fact which I underscored and illustrated by misreading Osho Zen’s version of “Strength” as the “Tower.” You’ll get the most mileage by cultivating some faith where it’s lacking, doing what you have to do but letting the rest go.

Upside: May be some blessings in disguise, wrapped up in this intense mess.

Aside: For Godssakes, stop comparing your worth to everybody else’s! This is cropping up all over the place on my radar, so I’m mentioning it now. You are unique and so is your value. Okay?

You feeling this?

04/18/14: Anger Optional / 5 of Wands

5 Wands Meaning

Not long ago, I was having a Class A rant over something I just didn’t want to do. I was mid-stream and in fine form no less, colorfully outlining all the ways it said task was going to be a pain in my ass. I rattled off each and every reason the task sucked with all the dramatic flair you’d expect from Leo rising. I was hosting a pity party extraordinaire.

“I’m sorry you don’t want to do what you agreed to do,” said Captain Virgo, with complete and utter sincerity. I’d have gotten pissed at him, except he wasn’t trying to be dismissive and worse, he was 100% right. Damn Virgo moon, foils me again!

Evidently, it was a pity party for one. But then again, aren’t most pity parties single-seaters?

I’d say this is kind of a harsh comedown from the Venusian queen of the Empress for yesterday. I was all like, “Date night!” But today? Today, the situation is all Five of Wands—read fight!

Fight, fight, fight! Damn.

I want to say be ready to rumble if the situation calls for it. I’m not into fighting for the sake of fighting. But sometimes? It’s what you gotta do. It’s up to you to tell the difference.

But…and here’s arather large “but”…is the situation entirely of your own doing? Because if it is, I wouldn’t expect anybody to pull up a chair to your single-seater pity party. So you may need to battle. But being pissed off about it is optional.

Maybe you can do what I did—retreat to meditate for a while. Lord knows it did me good, and saved the man from a sharp retort. After all, he can’t help his damn Virgo moon.

03/03/14: In the Thick / 5 of Wands

Five of Wands

As if in answer to yesterday’s question, how might we reach the goal of “winning,” today the Five of Wands pairs up with “Answer.”

How do you win? How do you persevere?

You fight your way through. There is no shortcut, no free pass. You just fight your way through it.

02/10/14: Whose Fight? / 5 of Wands Rx

5 of Wands Rx

Well, Hell. A reversed Five of Wands paired with “Disappointment” suggests a letdown over somebody not putting their all into a conflict situation.

Is it you in battle? If so, you can take this as indication that “less than best” efforts may leave a bitter taste of regret after the fact. If you’re hoping for someone to take up arms on your behalf…well, don’t count on it, okay? Be ready to pick up the slack yourself.

This isn’t exactly a cheery forecast, but it’s potentially useful, and I’ll take that over cheery anywho.

In short: give any conflict you’re involved in exactly as much energy and attention as it deserves. Make sure you’re not disappointed in yourself later for not trying hard enough. Do not hold out for a bailout, rather taking the lead in protecting your own interests. No one else has as much stake in your life as you do.

Or maybe you’ll just be an outside observer. I hope so! If you see someone else not fighting as hard as you would expect, rather than getting caught up in disappointment, understand each has individual motivations, needs and demands. If it’s not your battle, might be good to let it go. If it is your battle, the be prepared to fully participate.
