Queen of Swords: Focusing on What?

So, I got my project wrapped up. I expected it to take me about 2 or 3 days. Instead, it took two weeks of very intense attention. I pulled some long work days and just wrapped it up late Thursday night.

Now, I was less-than-enchanted with the entire endeavor, until I realized something very relevant: the end result was completely worth the trouble. There were a number of issues that went awry and each one I fixed in turn. This back and forth, catalyzed by what I didn’t want really made a difference in what I got in the end. I would not have touched any of the side issues had they not broken. So yes, there was plenty of cussing and frustration. Yes, I could have finished in a couple of days if everything had gone the way I’d planned. And yes, the finished product would have been inferior had it gone the way I’d planned.

Looking at it that way makes me glad so much stuff broke! A legitimate bright side right there, front and center. If you can find one, I always urge you to adopt the bright side. It pays off.

Aside: Thanks to those who wished me well with the stuff I have been working on last week, either directly or in your heart. I know you’re sending me your goodwill and I do appreciate it very much. ♥ An especially bright side for me.

This next week, I’d encourage you to keep looking for your own bright side and keep that vision central when you’re making decisions and taking action.

Next Week in Tarot

Queen of Swords: Focusing on What? 1

The overall outlook is represented by the Queen of Swords with advice coming in from the Knight of Swords from the gorgeous Star Tarot Deck. Now, seeing this duo, right away I know, words will be flying over the next week. Not much of a surprise, huh? Words are already flying. But I’ve got more than obvious observations to share here.

This Queen is clear, focused and discriminating. There is (and will be) plenty going on. That doesn’t mean she (or we) need to digest all of it. That’s a surefire recipe for an upset stomach! What you don’t want provides the most value in spurring you towards what you DO want. So acknowledge it and then move forward. The queen focuses on her goals and anything that doesn’t contribute to those goals gets discarded. That’s a very effective approach.

What topic of focus is most in line with your values and intentions? Problems serve a purpose: they help identify areas of improvement and that’s where we want the greatest bulk of our energy to go.

What serves your greater purposes? THAT is where to direct your attention. This is a big world and we have lots of choice on how we spend our energy. Anything else is just a distraction. And if there’s one thing the Queen of Swords will not abide, it’s distraction.

The Knight would advise us to convey our ideas and messages with clarity. Dix would advise you to be mindful of tact, but not everybody listens to her. Har!

Thing is, if communication is especially sharp, critical or loud (whether or not you consider it accurate), anyone who does not agree already will tune it out. Factor your goals into your overall approach. If your goal is only to be heard, volume will suffice. On the other hand, if your goal is to inform, persuade or otherwise influence…well, doing so from a connected place will give you far more power than any other approach.

In other words, keep your head clear this coming week. When you see something you perceive as wrong, you can let it be discouragement to you or of service to you. The choice is yours.

What are you focused on?

Give me a holler for a personal visit if you want a little realignment.

Knight of Wands: Who do you want to be?

I noticed myself not taking my own advice today. I hate that.

I hate noticing, I mean.

I’m sure, I ignore my own advice all the time. There are times you manage being the person you aspire to be, and times you don’t. This is the human condition and there’s not a damn thing wrong with it the way it is. We’re not meant to be static beings, never stretching our wings beyond where we’ve been before. We flex and grow, flex and grow.

The fun of life isn’t about being perfect. It’s not about arriving. It’s about the trip, every minute of every day. And the quality of your trip is in your own hands. What you see anywhere you look says less about the conditions themselves than it does about your focus. We attune most readily to perspectives that are already primed from practice.

What are you practicing? Do you notice?

I was doing a reading the other day–recording onto my phone. While I was talking, the phone vibrated and popped up a notice of incoming call.

Huh? The recording app isn’t supposed to let a call through.

I look down a little sternly, to see what disruptive caller had breached my technological interruption defense system mid-reading. And I laughed out loud.

What was I talking about, again? Because the caller ID said “Dixie Vogel” with my cell number. Somehow, I had managed to call myself. I literally “had my own number” with the advice I giving my Tarot friend at the time.

Damn it.

Every reading, on some level, is a reading for yourself. Every interaction in an interaction with some aspect of yourself as reflected by and in whatever is standing before you.

You are connecting with who you’re connecting to, you’re seeing whatever you’re seeing, as a result of where your own energy is at any given moment.

Sometimes the match is because you’re on the same wavelength. Sometimes the match is about one of you having a little piece of magic the other could use, with the Universe orchestrating meetup. But one way or another, there’s a match.  No match, no manifestation. If it’s before you, it’s matching something you’re vibing out. No way around it.

All roads lead home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html. You may notice that about the roads, if you’re looking.

And if you’re not looking? You may have to call yourself on the phone to get your own attention.

Well played, Universe.

Knight of Wands: Who do you want to be? 2

This week, we’ve got “Intensity” (aka the Knight of Wands) from the Osho Zen Tarot and the No match, no manifestation from Botanical Inspirations–Majesty and Virtue.

Both of these cards speak to purity, focus and integrity. Together, they paint a clear picture of moving forward in a focused way, being sure to remain true to your most deeply held core throughout. You do what you do, and you stay YOU while you’re doing it.

It’s a good time to know your own mission. Ask yourself, “What do I want to accomplish here? How do I want to feel?” And focus single-mindedly on that. Your attention is best trained on where you want to go, what emotional space. Not where you’ve been or whether someone else is or who you’d like to see somewhere else. Just you and where you’re going.

Knight energy can be somewhat jarring and intense. He is on a mission! He moves quickly and in some cases, may have to make sudden changes in course to maintain his objectives. So if you maintain a close connection to your highest intentions, you can ride the wave comfortablely and quickly. Just make sure your focus is clean and pure. You’re moving fast. Make sure you are feeling good and tune in to the vibe you’re reaching for before you turn up the juice with any action.

Tune in to your highest self–the version of you that you aspire to be–and focus on the feeling you want to have. Use it as your touchstone, your mission statement. Clutch it close as a compass aimed at true North and take every step in expression of that journey. Not where you’ve been or where you’re going. Here and now. Now and now and now and now.

Ask yourself, “Who do I want to be?

And then? Focus on that! And ride. That’s all you gotta do.

Focus, Sparky! Ace of Swords Reversed

I’m laughing a little to myself, because it’s taken me all day to write this post.

Focus, Dixie. Focus.

There are a lot of ways to tell an Ace of Swords story. I’ve mulled many. But I guess I’ll just let you fill in your own.

Focus, Sparky! Ace of Swords Reversed 3

The Ace of of Swords is a message. It’s focus. It’s an idea–and a good one, too! The idea’s strength comes from it’s clarity. It’s pure and singular.

In the beginning most ideas start pure. Boiled down to the essence of the idea.

And it’s inspired–a gift from the clouds, marked by Yods. The hand of God has presented you with a thought. This is the very definition of “inspiration” we’re talking.

So what are you going to do with this gift of an inspiration? Are you gonna muddy it up with ancient history and how it’s never worked before? Are you going to argue against it (and hence yourself) by demanding to know when and how and conjuring up all sorts of imaginary problems you don’t have?

Or are you going to focus on the essence of what you want and let the momentum of the idea and the enthusiasm for that idea carry you forward? Because that’s your choice, here and now.

You live what you focus on. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Because you can zero in on the rejection and the slights (perceived or otherwise) and the lost opportunity or what’s gone. And you’ll feel pretty crummy. Or you can hone in, instead, on what is going right, and what you want, and the new opportunities on the horizon that are opening up for you.

I think you know which I’d recommend. But as always, it’s your call.

And in case you didn’t know, any time that’s not now is not currently relevant. What you did last week or what you’ll do next week doesn’t matter. It’s time to zero in.

Be a honing device and beep yourself right in line with what you want. Because you can do that, right now. Focus, focus, focus!

How’s your focus?

This week’s forecast features the Radiant Rider Waite and Dixie. Give a holler if you want to schedule a consult.
