Five of Swords & Queen of Swords Rx: Do-It-Yourself Love

I’ve been considering the notion, “What someone thinks about me is none of my business.”

This is far easier to preach than practice.

Sometimes, we want to feel understood, heard and seen. Moments of feeling known that way are powerful.

But we’d best never rely on someone else to provide us that kind of juice. We can appreciate the energy when we get it, since it’s one way of being fed. But it’s always best to still be able to feed oneself, you know?

The drive to be understood–or validated, whatever you want to call it–is strongest when we feel the most vulnerable. If you’re not sure of your own worth, it’s natural to look for outside reassurance.

But those kind of holes cannot be filled from the outside. It helps for a minute but the hits of confidence doesn’t very long if we don’t strongly know our own goodness.

Self-love has got to be self-generated. Getting clear for yourself on what feels best to you  and not worrying much about anything (or anyone) else is exactly the sort of approach I’d recommend for the coming week. Take a step back and focus on the view you enjoy most.

Next Week in Tarot

The forecast cards wanted to come out as a duo, so I pulled the advice as a duo as well.

For the outlook, we have the Five of Swords and Four of Cups reversed.

Advice comes in the way of the Queen of Swords reversed paired up with the Lovers, all from this well-worn but still lovely Legacy of the Divine tarot deck.

It may appear battles are lost or won, and decisions are set this week. You may not feel satisfied with  some of the outcomes. There’s a tendency to get stuck mentally in what you don’t dig here, running things around and around in circles in your head. Don’t.

The Queen of Swords reversed is sharp and critical. Teamed up with the Lovers as guidance, she suggests stepping back from critical analysis and instead focus on harmony, wherever you can find it. That harmony may (and often will) be found through focusing on entirely different topics.

So you don’t need to “make your peace” around issues that disturb you. Instead, reach for ANY peace, for ANY harmony.

We think it’s the outer circumstances of our lives that dictate our subjective feelings, but it’s really the other way around. Shift your feelings and you’ll shift your experience.

You don’t need anybody’s cooperation. You just need to decide for yourself, what matters most to you.

Place priority on loving yourself and watch the rest fall in line.

Four of Cups: Finding Unseen Solutions

I held my tongue the other day. Figuratively, at least.

See? It happens!

I kept myself in check until I got a grip on an almost overwhelming urge to be helpful. I didn’t end up saying anything.  The non-beneficiary of my wisdom was someone (justifiably) freaking out over a tech catastrophe.

I know the feeling very, very well. Having managed websites and online services for many years, I’ve had more than my fair share of similar catastrophes. Some only impacted my business, while the worst also impacted my customers, who depended on me to make things work. So yes, I understand.

In fact, compared to my worst freakouts (with full-on cursing and tears), she was holding it together fine. But she was distressed and don’t like people being in distress when I know I have an answer.

I just realized it was an answer she probably wouldn’t have been interested in hearing. I saw no point in further aggravating her to make myself feel better.

Here’s the advice I didn’t give: Once you’ve done what you initially know how to do, the ONLY thing that ever helps is surrender.

Let it go for a while. Step back and distract yourself. Focus on something else and give the problem space.

You are not going to get any flashes of inspiration when you’re freaking out over “how bad” the situation is.  It never, ever happens. You’re not going to make progress. You’re not going to fix it. If anything, you’ll make it worse. The voice of experience knows this.

When things feel like a mess and you have no idea what to do now, the best course is always to offer yourself some relief from the mess.

Whenever and however you can, step back and surrender what is to the current moment. Move your attention elsewhere for a while. Eventually you’ll get your inspiration on how to address the situation most productively. But that inspiration won’t come in the throes of panic. There’s too much static in the emotional waves for you to plug in and hear any answers.

Inspiration only shows up after you detach enough to clear the space for it. It can come quickly, but will take however long is required to clear your head. Nothing else works.

That approach is pretty much what I’m advising for next week. You can listen or not, but I’m doing my best to sell it!

Next Week in Tarot

The outlook this week is the Four of Cups–sage advice comes in the form of a very lush Ten of Pentacles from the rich and colorful deck, Tarot Illuminati.

The Four of Cups indicates we initially won’t see all our options. The most workable choice is close, but easy to miss. Obsessing over past failures, feeling sad and frustrated about what’s not working, keeps us from seeing what will work.

The Ten of Pentacles says to count blessings without equivocation. It’s easy to forget how many wins we have when we’re distressed. So be deliberate about acknowledging blessings–the abundance and the love on tap right now.

Now, this approach may strike some as an utter waste of time. We live in a world that values hard work above all else. If obstacles loom large, they may feel like a crisis. I’m not about to say whatever concerns you doesn’t matter. Just the opposite.

Maybe you feel short of blessings at the moment. I understand that. But no matter what situation we find ourselves in, there is something to be appreciated.

Stepping back, taking a breather and finding some way to feel blessed makes a huge difference. You’ll begin to relax almost immediately Your mind clears. As a result, you become more capable and efficient. It works the same way food or sleep does in terms of strengthening us. It doesn’t have to be a lot here. Just any little bit of appreciation you can seek and find will offer a sense of relief. You get there by appreciating and loving, whatever and however you can, big or small. That’s all you need to start the shift.

Once your mind quiets, answers can show up. And it does so much more, utterly tangible good than almost anyone realizes.

In shifting to an appreciative state, you’re opening doors to intuition and (divine) inspiration. THEN is when you’ll be able to see the glowing cup on offer in this card–the solution that seems like it’s appearing from nowhere but feels “just a little different” and somehow gives you a glimmer hope (before you start tearing it apart in your head, that is).

[bctt tweet=”Appreciation opens a channel for inspiration. ” username=”goddess_dix”]

You can’t strongarm an incoming inspiration into being. You can, however, set yourself up to receive one. By giving yourself permission to stop suffering over problems, setting aside what’s not working and realizing how many good things you have right now, you clear the way to see the gift of solutions.

Whether or not this strikes you as feasible, what do you have to lose in giving it a try? Because if there’s even a chance I’m right here (and I AM), this little bit of advice can turn around even the most intractable situations very quickly.

Have you tried stepping back from problems to allow for solutions to appear?

Four of Cups: Flowers in the Weeds

When life is not coming up roses, look to the weeds and find the beauty hidden within them. –L.F.  Young

What do you do, when life is not cruising along in line with your preferences?

Maybe you sell for a living, and the world doesn’t seem to be buying. Or maybe you got a new job, and it’s just not what you’d hoped.  Maybe your relationship isn’t full of relating. Or maybe your kids are giving you fits. Whatever you’re looking at you don’t like, and it’s got you wound up in knots.

But here’s where it gets interesting. You have a choice, in every given moment.

You can focus on what’s wrong and work up a full-blown emotional explosion. You just start ramping up what you don’t like in your head and it grows.  Or you can reach for whatever feels the least little bit better and look for some beauty in the weeds.

[bctt tweet=”Seek the beauty in the weeds. There always is some. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

How you feel about an unwanted situation is never, ever dictated by that situation. It cannot be by definition, because reaction is never external. A sense of well-being is not something that life bestows upon us, by doling out superior circumstances.

We generate our own happiness, through actively and consciously focusing on what pleases us, what we appreciate in any situation. This has nothing to do with outer circumstances and everything to do with what we practice every day.

We give the outside world far too much credit for (and therefore, too much control over) the state of our own well-being. Well-being is always an inside job, friends. When you don’t like what’s in front of you, fair enough. Your flowers aren’t blooming. You’re in the middle of the weeds. So start looking for the beauty there. Understand when life isn’t flowing smoothly, you are getting a nudge–maybe a hard nudge–to shift your energy. And that’s truly a helpful thing.

If we habitually complain and fuss (even internally) about everything that’s wrong in our world? Rough times are going to hit harder.  But if we have a habit of looking for the beauty anyplace we can find it, weeds or not? Life feels better, right then and there.

The less it feels like you have to appreciate in a given moment, the more important it is to do just that.

It helps. Every single time, it helps.

Next week in Tarot: Dream it Up

We have the Four of Cups (or 4 of Water from the Good Tarot) and the Venice Mallow Hibiscus from the Botanical Inspirations deck: Delicate, Fleeting Beauty.

I just got back from flower shopping with my daughter. She took home some Hibiscus that was speaking to her. Hibiscus is associated with love, dreams and divination. The Venice Mallow variety is sometimes known as the “Flower-of-an-hour” because of the short time it opens its blooms in the morning.

If you see a bloom? Take it in, right then and there.

The Four of Cups is always a dreamy energy–here, we’re considering what we don’t have, or perhaps imagining what we might want. You are the dreamer of this dream. It’s up to you to guide it.

This week, I expect we’ll have opportunities to dream up, or dream down wherever we are standing. This active steering of attention and imagination is a very effective way of flowing energy.  Make a practice of putting out what you want to get, because that’s how you tune this. And a very easy way to find the sweet spot here is looking for the good, the flowers, wherever you are.

Weeds or not, look for the flowers!

Are you finding flowers in your weeds?

Living the Microcosm: Weekly Tarot, May 1 – 7, 2017

“If you keep telling yourself the exact same stories about this, you’ll keep having the exact same feelings.”

I heard myself saying this to a friend recently. And like most of my best advice, it’s just as (annoyingly) applicable to the me as to the recipient! Maybe moreso, but I’m not gonna quibble either way.

STORIES matter, whether or not they ever find their way out of our mouths.

We craft and evaluate our own stories according to criteria that is better at keeping us stuck than moving us upward and onward. We try to accurately capture the feelings at the time, deepening that emotional groove with each recounting. We list and weigh facts as objectively as we can muster. We may look to persuade, presenting our cases and seeking agreement for our rightness or soundness of reasoning. I get it. It’s human nature and it’s what we have been taught is appropriate in recounting stories.

But you know what? If your stories are very faithful reruns of events you didn’t like, that is EXACTLY the energy you are activating each time that story comes to mind. That energy grows with your focus. Is that really where you want to go?

But what if you rewrote your stories? What we want and what we don’t want in any situation show use the polarities of every subject. Rather than picking up the “don’t want” end and running with it, justifying that repetition because it seems a more “true” version of events, why not shift your focus to only the “wanted” end. That side of the coin is just as real and you can work with it. It also feels a hell of a lot better.

Pretend for a minute that all is well–perfect actually, because it kind of is. Pretend that the Universe works as it should–because honesty, it does. Imagine that it’s not your job to extract any specific outcome, but simply to amplify energy you want in your life courtesy focus, using your feelings as guide to how you’re doing. Because yes, that is exactly how it works.

Keep a check on your stories. Experiment with cleaning them up to better reflect what you want to live instead of what you don’t want to repeat. Right now is a great time to rewrite stories and give them happier endings.

This week, don’t try to figure out long term implications for the world at large. Just live your own priorities true.

Oh man. The energy out in the wild has been wonky as Hell, huh? CHARGED. Electric and concentrated and driven. And most of all? Not so easy to predict, in terms out specific outcomes, as in where this rocket is going to light in the end. So don’t.

Here’s my weekly forecast to help give you grounding amidst the buzz.

Tarot Forecast (Video Transcript)

Mayday! Mayday! Incoming Tarot forecast!

Hey. This is Dixie from a fool’s journey. I am here to bring to you the tarot forecast, May 1st through 7th, 2017.

So, just gonna hop right in there. And see what we get.

Okay. Starting off the week, uhhhh. I want to say, I have a feeling of second guessing choices and decisions. Like we’re not, folks are not certain that they’re making a good call. I mean, there’s an orientation that’s very clearly towards the future.

But the emotional tenor of the choices that we’re making or how we’re seeing things play out is a little uncomfortable.

Just going into the beginning of the week. Moving in, I would advise you not to overdo the what-if scenarios. Like well, what if this happens and then that happens and then what if this, you know, if this happens and then that happens and…uh huh. Huh uh. That’s not gonna help.

We’ve got the four of cups, reversed. So don’t go arrrgghh, well you know, this and then this and then this, duttutututu. Because you know that’s how it works out anyway. It never is!

And don’t make everything about, well what’s the greater lesson. Just…sigh. Just look to lock in on what’s important to you and let go of the DETAILS about how that happens or if other people are gonna respect it or if it’s gonna dit-tit-dit-ti-tuh.

Like if setting certain boundaries is very important to you, then set the boundaries and stick to them. If getting along is very important to you, then work to get along and let go of the stuff that doesn’t serve that purpose.

The thing is, focus on the goal, not on the means to get there. Okay? If you do that, the week should go pretty well for you.

[bctt tweet=”Focus on the goal, not the means to get there. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

And for the take-home, for a take home, advice/overview, message…I have got the seven of pentacles reversed.

What I want to tell you is that not everything you see is going to have a natural progression to what you, where you think it’s going.

So this predicting the future, that everybody’s doing like, “Oh my gosh. We’re on the road to disaster!” Is not helping. And it’s not accurate! More importantly.

So roll it back and keep your focus in the microcosm, not the macrocosm this week and in terms of where you put your emotional energy and I expect it to go pretty well for you.

I hope that helps. Let me know if it works out for you or if these forecasts are helpful because I need to know whether or not I can keep doing them.

Okay? Take care, peace out from Dixie. Mmmmmmmm. The Zen Goddess. Bye-bye!

Think my hair could be bigger? Because I think my hair could be bigger. It was pretty big right after I fixed it. And then, like, five minutes later, kind of went whoosh.

Steering with Feelings: Tarot Forecast, Jan 23 -29, 2017

I went to a therapist once upon a time ago, just one visit during a patch when I felt like my life was a wreck. It kinda was a mess, if you want to know the long and short of it.

She told me, “Of course you feel that way. Look at what’s going on. I’d be worried about you if you didn’t feel that way.” And that  was that.

It was nice to be reassured, I wasn’t losing it. To have “official permission” to feel lousy. But it would have been nice to find ways to feel better.

This week’s forecast reminds me of that time, and others like it in my life. There is an intensity to the energy here. Strong desires, strong emotions, and our job as I see it, is finding ways to feel better and keep grounding and pulling back to center. Because as you do that, you’re finally able to get whatever clarity you can from the experience and find ways to feel better.

That’s a nice description of a life I’d like to live, actually.

Get whatever clarity you can from the ride and find as many ways to feel good as possible.

This coming week? Do that. The week is a little sluggish in terms of the sort of progress most would like to see–especially midway through–but ends on a high note. Use your feelings to steer and you’ll fare just fine.

Audio version of the day-by-day play-by-play.

Monday, Opportunity Beckons (Four of Cups) – It’s a good day to consider possibilities that you’ve not entertained before. Look at what has not been on the table or already dismissed as unlikely, don’t. Thinking your way through is never as effective as feeling your way through. You can drive yourself insane trying to figure out details instead of allowing the Universe do the heavy lifting for you by lining up your energy.

Tuesday, Confront (the Moon) – Whatever drives you insane to see in others represents some uncomfortable energy in YOU. The only way something can push your buttons that way, it has to resonate with some level in you. Sorry! Is what it is. I wouldn’t think of dealing with this so much confrontation, but more being aware. Make peace with where you are, and accept it along with the decision, you’d like to keep moving to a more comfortable place. Aim love at yourself and it takes away a lot of the punch. This will help.

Wednesday, Manifest (Magician) – A very empowering energy. The polarity of wanted vs,. unwanted is highlighted. Many things go on in our lives we care about, but feel no control over, apparently external circumstances. But we do have control over how we feel, and that control is accessed in how you think about any given scenario. We have the power of framing.  You can nudge yourself in the direction you want to go, looking for ways to think about it that feel better. Just look to feel a little better about it, a little better about it from wherever you stand, and keep on doing that. Practice that skill and it will serve you well.

Thursday, Sadness and Isolation, Three of Swords – You may not get everything you want, and it’s okay, it will be okay, it remains okay, always was and will be okay. But if you’re having a sad day and feeling a little beat up? That’s okay, too! Or if someone else is, around you. These blues don’t last very long and it’s not something you really have to fix. Just accept and love yourself as you are, and be kind. That help speeds along, brightens the tone and lightens up the energy very shortly.

Friday, Teach (the Hierophant) – Connecting with others in an educational format has the possibility to bring joy. Really, any mentally stimulating activity will do. You don’t try to “teach” anyone else how to be. The most powerful way to teach is through a clear example. Some might say it is the only way.

Saturday, Heart and Crown Chakra + Nurture (Empress) – Feed your heart and you’ll feed your soul at the same time. You’re looking for joy, something that feels creative, fun, activities that speak to the heart and spur your imagination. Follow your heart to strengthen your connection.

[bctt tweet=”Feed Your Heart to Nourish Your Soul. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

Sunday, Control (Strength) – The only control you have a right to exercise is over yourself. This is a kinda rocky feeling week. If you can get plugged in, open yourself up to possibilities you hadn’t considered in the flow of the week, challenge yourself to direct your responses to the outside world consciously directing your thoughts, and let unpleasant feelings pass. You inspire others not through pressure or persuasion, but through example, clarity and personal knowingness. This keeps you plugged in, that is where true control comes from. It’s a helpful approach in general.

Affirmation: I know who I really am. We’re all made out of the same stuff. Considering how many are feeling, understanding that we are spiritual beings living a physical experience. Knowing we’re all part of the same source energy, it will make harmony, love and healing a whole lot easier.

Shady! Weekly Tarot Forecast, July 4 – 10

I get a funny, slightly disturbed feeling being lied to. Like milk that’s going bad, you know? It’s almost, but not quite right. It generally hits my solar plexus. It’s not always very noticeable–and my desire to believe can lead me to disregard it. Many times, it has. But the feeling itself is still valid, and very reliable.

I almost never say anything, when I get that feeling.

That is what this forecast reminded me of. That shady, “off” feeling–and the decision not to say anything about it.

20160702_175811_HDR

Looking at this forecast as a whole, there’s sort of a “shady” feeling about it. Like there is plenty to misconstrue, a bit of confusion. I’m seeing one of those shell games, or 3 Card Monte. I’m not saying someone is actively trying to con you. But truthfully? It’s a possibility. Although much of the time, people con themselves. That, too, is a possibility this week. Most of these cards are minor arcana, however. So I’m thinking the confusion doesn’t have super long-term consequences. Of the week, Friday’s recommendation for self-care and the overview of taking some time to yourself are the most important parts to note.

While Mars is now direct and that feeling of trudging through mud is abating, this week still feels slower-moving than most. Progress is possible, but gradual. Two steps forward, one step in a completely random direction and…where the Hell was I going again? Like that. So take your time, okay? Rushing not advised. Roll with it, friends!

Monday, 7 of Cups Rx: This smacks of self-delusion, very possibly a “too good to be true” thing that, unsurprisingly, isn’t. Listen to the intuitive nudge of feedback–specifically, that one you’d like to ignore. Because if you don’t…well, you’re gonna be cussing yourself in the morning, Ya dig?

Tuesday, 4 of Cups: Content or complacent? That’s a matter of perspective. Either way, there’s more interest in dreaming about what could be today than actually taking action on the issue. If you have the choice, I’d schedule light today because it doesn’t seem super productive. But if you get a chance for a little daydreaming, the energetic weather should support that.

Wednesday,  Knight of Swords Rx: Somebody isn’t getting the message. Is it you? If you have important info to communicate, verify the recipient actually receives your message and understands what you’re trying to say. It may take more than one attempt to exchange information. There is also potential for muddied thinking and getting facts mixed up so double check your details. The necessary info is there, it’s not missing, but it could be in the wrong place. Like a form that has the right answers, but on the wrong lines.

Thursday, 8 of Cups: Release. Let it go! The hurt feelings and the what-if’s and the but-they-should-have-knowns. All of it. If it causes you pain or holds you back, step away. If you cannot yet do this literally, do it emotionally. Focus specifically and intentionally on what encourages you and makes you feel good and set aside the rest.

[bctt tweet=”Focus on what supports you and leave behind what doesn’t. ” username=”goddess_dix”]

Friday, The Empress Rx: Mama could use some love. If you’ve been busting tail looking after everybody else, today is a good day to look after YOU. A little play time, in particular, will replenish your giving well.

Saturday, 7 of Swords: Uh oh. Something is going down under the radar. Somebody lying? Maybe. If you have a difficult maneuver to pull off, you can today: provided you keep your mouth shut about it! There is just more going on than meets the eye. That’s not necessarily a problem, but it could be, depending. Don’t assume all the relevant facts are in the open.

Sunday, 4 of Pentacles: All is well. You are safe, and you made it through a tricky week just fine. It’s a good day to stay home and eat, if you have the option! Conserve your energy and resources and replenish yourself for the week coming up.

Overview/Advice, The Hermit: If you feel stressed out, frazzled or confused at any point this week, retreat! Go off by yourself for a bit and meditate. Or read. Or study whatever appeals to you. Or just sit, in nature and quiet. This will help SO MUCH, you have no idea. Don’t tell me you don’t have the time. Make the time. It will get you through any of the other difficulties with your equilibrium intact.

20160702_175753_HDRAffirmation: “My thoughts are in harmony with health.” This advice works to maximize physical health of course. But it also applies to any type of health–emotional, financial, relationship health, whatever.

Whether you feel sick or well, focus on the wellness. Focus on improvements and appreciation for what’s going right. If you find little to appreciate, go more general as opposed to specifics, as it’s easier to do. And if you have trouble conjuring wellness thoughts on any particular topic, distract yourself with pleasant thoughts and activities unrelated. The point is to fill your mind with pleasant thoughts and your body with pleasant feelings.

Possible affirmations? I feel good. I like feeling good. I’m getting better all the time. I’m getting stronger every day. I love making progress. Most of the time, I feel good. It’s a good day. I appreciate my body. I appreciate my mind. I like me!
