Four of Pentacles & Hierophant Rx: Forget the Peanut (Butter) Gallery

A long time ago, I was making two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Four slices of bread laid out in a row, happily going about my business.

My kid surveyed my progress, and was quite bothered. She accused me of being intentionally difficult.

Evidently, when you lay the bread out in a row, you’re not supposed to put peanut butter on different sides for each sandwich. You’re supposed to put the peanut butter either all on the left pieces of bread or on the right, so an alternating pattern of peanut butter and jelly is maintained during the sandwich construction.

Somehow, this practice is deemed necessary to maintain a civilized society. Or something like that…

She thinks I live for chaos. I don’t know that I could argue with that conclusion convincingly. But she was taken aback to learn that in this case, I did have a reason for my choice.

See, the bread had sizable holes. So I strategically placed peanut butter over the largest holes to minimize jelly leakage. This was a more important objective than conforming. She saw me doing something “wrong” just to be different. I saw less potential for sporting jelly stains the rest of the day.

The point of this silly little story is that even people that know you very well cannot always comprehend exactly why you do what you do, in the way you do it. But that’s okay.

Nobody needs to get you here. Make your sandwiches however you want next week and forget the peanut (butter) gallery.

Next Week in Tarot

This week, the Four of Pentacles provides the general outlook, with advice coming in as the Hierophant reversed and clarified by the Eight of Pentacles. These cards are from the familiar Radiant Rider-Waite deck.

With a Four of Pentacles forecast, I’d expect to see plenty of stabilizing in general, or maybe “attempts to stabilize” would be more accurate in some cases. This doesn’t mean people still won’t be anxious, however. Far from it. The Four of Pentacles often heralds either general anxiety or feelings of insecurity, especially financial. (Look at how tightly he guards those Pentacles).

But anxious or not, you can expect to make it through the week just fine.

In terms of advice, it’s easy to follow: Do what works for you, period. Take it one step at a time, one foot in front of the other. It’s not all about the long term right now. It’s about making it through the moment, doing what you need to do and working your way through.

In particular, don’t bother about what “normal” people would accomplish what you’ve got to accomplish. This information is not applicable, so no cases of the guilties if you don’t live up to perceived societal expectations.

If it works for YOU, then it’s a good plan. I’m of a mind that’s always true, but I suspect others may also join me in that conclusion during the week.

Are you able to “just do you?”

Four of Pentacles & Ace of Swords: Next Clear Step

I think people have pretty much always lamented how awful the world is. There’s plenty of stuff to feel bothered over, if you’re looking around for it.

But what if that “wrong” that we see is a force for good?

It’s what people see as “wrong” that directs thought towards what they see as right. It becomes an  impetus of growth and evolution. Sometimes it’s painful and messy. Renovation work can be a little chaotic in progress. But that doesn’t make the end result any less lovely.

Out of manure, beautiful flowers bloom.

Nowadays, I try to be respectful of everyone’s intention, whether or not I agree with any part of it. I want to be more kind. The trick to reaching for greater kindness is stepping back from judgement.

It’s tempting to measure everything against the yardstick of “What would I do?” But everyone isn’t me! We’ve lived different lives. We’ve interpreted our experiences in ways specific to our beliefs and whatever influences we were feeling at the time.

I don’t need to fault someone for being who they are, nor plot how I will straighten them out. My job is loving, not fixing. Sometimes, that’s harder to manage of the two approaches, but always worth the trouble.

Next Week in Tarot

We have the week’s forecast coming in as the Four of Pentacles, with advice from the Ace of Swords–cards from the lovely Star Tarot deck.

It’s an interesting rendition of the Four–the stone portal dominates, with the symbols of the four elements on each corner. Now the scene features a swan and is guarded by a dragonfly. You think there are some important changes being referenced? Because that symbolism pretty much screams change.

That portal isn’t flimsy. It’s solid and the foundation for change is just as solid. Tarot fours are a stable energy. So throughout this week, expect whatever exists is a sturdy foundation for what’s to come, regardless of whether or not it’s clear how exactly that all fits together.

The most involved, most complicated changes have multiple layers. The Universe orchestrates this, not the individual. At least, if you want it done well, you back off.

Let the Universe do its job and orchestrate, will ya?

The Ace of Swords suggests an aim for clear and focused thought. Any action taken should be decisive under this influence, but not taken until the path appears natural, the obvious next step. Not rushing to the end of the race, mind you. NEXT CLEAR STEP. Next clear step. That’s all you’re aiming for here.

The Ace of Swords does not need to backtrack or second-guess. The Ace is also not rushed, because once that clear choice is made, the energy moves fast. So don’t move until you’ve ready and you know you’re ready because you’re sure. There’s no angst about the decisions here. You will know.

In short: It’s not up to you to line up all the pieces next week. Just stay focused on the next clear step in your own lane. That’s all you need.

Give me a holler if you’d like some help getting your focus on. And have a great week!

Peace Out.

Nine of Wands & Four of Pentacles: Personal Stability First

When people say someone would “give them the shirt off their own back,” it’s meant as a compliment of generosity.  But in reality, giving more than you can comfortably give isn’t a very good idea.

First of all, it’s not sustainable. You need win-win scenarios to be sustainable.

And secondly, it doesn’t convey a message of hope. It conveys the idea that the giver is strong and capable, but the recipient is not. It’s a far more useful gift to help someone find their own strength than demonstrate your own.  This is especially true if you aren’t sure of your own stability and resources. That’s a very temporary fix and one you’ll likely to resent eventually.

Next Week in Tarot

This week for the outlook we have exhaustion (Nine of Wands), with advice coming in the form of the Miser (Four of Pentacles) from the beautiful Osho Zen Tarot.

Oy! But we can do this.

Exhaustion is pretty self-explanatory. Exhaustion is about having too much going on, too many moving parts, ending in a bone-weariness from trying to make everything happen just so. I’ve found I’m much more likely to reach this point personally when I try to hold myself responsible for stuff that’s not mine. My own stuff is enough!

If you ever hear yourself asking, “But if I don’t, who will?” Well, that’s a sure sign your nose is in business that’s not yours.

The advice to be “the Miser” may be a bit of a surprise to some of y’all, but I understand it perfectly.

Conserve your energy. Don’t expend resources at a rate you’re not comfortable with just because it looks to you like someone else needs help. Put your own needs first!

Now, people may be thinking this advice is selfish. But I don’t have the same concept of selfishness most do.

First of all, our perspective can only be “selfish.” No matter how hard we try to take into account the opinions of others, we have no option but to see the world from a personal perspective, the perspective of self. Anything else is at best, guesswork.

Many equate the idea of selfishness with fulfilling personal needs at the expense of others. But that is a definition of predatory behavior, not looking after the self! Preying on others does not build up the self, it diminishes it. It’s a form of self-harm, in addition to being hurtful to others. It’s true many predators may not realize this consciously, but that behavior signals weakness and fear, not the kind of “selfishness” I advocate.

When we prioritize our own need, it puts us in the best possible position to be of service to the bigger world. It’s exactly when I’m most healthy, strong and stable–both physically and energetically–I have the most significant value to contribute. In order to stay that way, I have to manage my own needs first.

This coming week, pace yourself and keep account of your own resources, physical or otherwise. Of course you can help out whomever you’d like, but make your offers from a position of strength, always. Furthermore, make sure any assistance acknowledges and amplifies the competence of those you are assisting. Think in terms of encouragement rather than rescue and you’ll be on the right track.

[bctt tweet=”There are infinite ways to help that don’t imply ‘You are incapable.’ Focus on those.” username=”goddess_dix”]

Make space for self-care and manage your resources wisely this week. The rest will work itself out without any trouble.

Are you managing your resources effectively?

Crafting your Life | Tarot Forecast, Week of 4/3 – 4/9/17

I once had an astrologer tell me that if she didn’t already know me, she’d think I was crazy (due the insane amount of Mercury’s influence in my chart). I laughed for days about that.

No denying I’ve got a touch of the crazy–the good kind that is; it’s entertaining crazy. Not the scooting-over-on-public-transit kind of crazy. My flavor of crazy would be welcome at parties. If I went to parties.

Basically once my thoughts get really moving, it’s like a barreling train. NOTHING is going to stop that train, or so it feels. The ideas! The plans! The inspiration! I want to do this and that and that and that other thing. Wouldn’t this be great?!? It goes all over the place and it moves very, very fast. It’s a wonderful ride.

Until I put the brakes on myself, that is.

How? What if this or that happens? How can I avoid this problem that I don’t yet have?

That bucket of cold water gets dumped right onto my steam engines, ending the thrill ride prematurely. I don’t fault myself because it’s never been intentional, but I do try to catch myself now. Because those little blasts of “crazy” are not only exhilarating, but the inspirations are priceless to me. The are a true expression of who I really am. Not to mention, it’s a whole Hell of a lot of fun.

This week, you can either put wood or water on the fire via how you steer your emotional state.

[bctt tweet=”Just ‘do’ you; doing you is always just right. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

With 2 of the 3 cards I pulled being Pentacles–the Moon, the Four of Pentacles and the Three of Pentacles–we’re looking at real-world manifestations. My misreading the Moon as the Sun in the video doesn’t really impact the forecast in that the elements I was pulling was still applicable to the message I felt needed conveying. I like it when I can’t get it wrong!

The short version: Emotions first. Get stable. And then plan!

Get set, stable and firm emotionally, and then work on perfecting whatever aspects of your life that you’re focusing on now. The emotional work comes first: peace, groundedness, and centeredness. In your joy, you’ll see the world more in line with how your eternal spirit sees the world. The power of that perspective gives you tremendous leverage and “luck,” as we know it. This is exactly how you move forward.

And if you’re not feeling peaceful or you cannot find a hint of calm? Well, be okay about that, too! Wherever you’re at is where you’re at, and that’s okay too, you know? There is no way to be wrong here, no way to be “too far off the reservation” to go someplace you like. It could take a minute, if you’re not in the best headspace but it’s always, always, always possible. The Universe has many ways to deliver the goods, not just that one turn that you didn’t take back a ways. The real issue isn’t where you are right now, but only that you’re improving where you are. That’s all that matters.

You could go up or down. But choosing one intentionally is a lot better that sitting back and letting what you’re seeing out in the world decide for you.

BE the being of light and love that you are, fully. This makes your life a truer expression of who YOU are, the light of your soul. Remember that you’re crafting your life, day by day. Whatever you make at any given point will carry the energy you bring to it.

How’s your energy looking lately?

Be well!

Starling Advice: Tarot Forecast, Jan 9 -15

Our office window birdfeeder has attracted a string of different birds, and I watch them come and go. Lots of finches, because hey, finches run in packs. The cardinals come, often both Mr. and Mrs. And just like old, married couples, they start to look alike after a while. The big blue jays that grab the big nuts and glide off. Warblers galore and beautiful bird songs off and on all day.

The Starlings have really been speaking to me, standing out. But then again, they were kind of born to stand out, no? With the iridescent sheen and the little dots like stars in the night sky, how could you miss them?

Starlings are known for being gregarious birds–and for their imitations. They imitate not only many other birds, but also mimic environmental sounds and have local dialects. They are studied for insight into the development of language.

And while they are fairly aggressive birds, they also know how to work in in a group. The grace of their flock dances defy description.

This is a week to be as the Starlings would suggest–be your beautiful, iridescent self, always. Of course. Don’t shy back and hide, but stay flexible in your communication. Keep your action in keeping with what you want to be about, you know? Going with the flow, (gracefully) is highly recommended.

Lots of Pentacles coming up, with a smattering of swords. So we’ve got our primary focus on results, concrete, physical, flesh and blood manifestations. Not so much emotional focus or mental focus.Outcomes are emphasized over conceptual issues. So let’s dive in!

Monday, Nine of Pentacles rx:  Don’t nitpick. Upright, this card shows a very refined, clean approach. Reversed, something is not quite there yet, missing a little something. But relax into it and understand it’s a process, just like you’re a work in progress. It’s fine, wherever you’re at in it. Enjoy and appreciate what IS working right and don’t make a big deal about what is still coming into refinement.

Tuesday, Page of Pentacles: You will begin to get some clarity on the types of issues bothering you yesterday. The message will be recieved. Look for it and work with it.

Wednesday, The Empress: Great day for creative pursuits. The Empress is the Tarot mama. Great day also for self care (and isn’t creativity a form of self care)? Great day to make something, bake something, nurture someone else or yourself. A warm, fuzzy day. So enjoy it.

Thursday, Ace of Wands rx: May be a delay getting started on something you wanna get rolling. That’s okay! Don’t stress, just let it be. It will come together in time. Let it go and keep on doing what you’re doing.

Friday, Five of Pentacles rx: Possibility for overreaction. I’m seeing a kid crying themselves silly after dropping an ice cream cone. Overreaction to small losses due a limited perspective. However you feel is fine. I’m not saying to feel bad over how you feel. Just don’t amp up unhappy thoughts by playing them on autoloop. If you’re feeling like something is a really, really big deal today, fair enough. It matters because it’s important to you. But do what you can to soothe yourself and understand with a little perspective, you will see it differently.

Saturday, Three of Swords rx: Adjusting to something you want that feels missing. Reversed, it’s an opportunity for healing if you’ll allow it. It’s a choice, what feelings you ramp up vs. what you let go. It’s within your capacity and any rawness there is actually on the mend.

Sunday, Four of Pentacles rx: A little anxiety going down. It’s not necessarily based in reality. I’m seeing this as internal. Very much what’s going on in the head, not in the world. You may be anxious or there may be a rawness in the world at large. So look to soothe the anxiety without trying to take action to “correct” the situation.

Overview/Advice, Nine of Swords rx: Anxiety or guilt may be players, with some having difficulty sleeping this week. Let go as much as you can because the Self-Blame Express ain’t doing anything useful for anybody. If you do the “what if, what if, what if” disaster scenarios, stop! You’re amping up unrest. Try to catch yourself quickly before it picks up steam and is harder to redirect. And your week will feel so much nicer, even if the objective circumstances are exactly the same. Pretty neat trick, don’t you think?

Affirmation: When I reverse the thought, I reverse the condition. Sorry if you’re not a Law of Attraction person. But the idea is, there is nothing in life that cannot be changed. You use your emotions as your guide. For example, if you have chronic pain–it’s hard to ignore, in your face. You don’t have a choice as to where you are with that in the moment it’s happening, other than how you think about it.

You can have that pain and feel angry, scared, or frustrated. You can also have it and feel hopeful, believing it will get better, or intentionally distracted by other things. The pain may be the exact same physical manifestation, but the experience of it is much different. You may be in a place you don’t want to be. You can either suffer a great deal by dumping unhappiness on top of it, or you can reach for the best feeling, most optimistic thought you have access to. If you reach for better-feeling, what you live is the best you have access to in the moment. How justified any feelings are doesn’t matter pragmatically. If I’m choosing between justified anger or unjustified happiness? No contest.

[bctt tweet=”Happiness does NOT require justification.” via=”no”]

Grab onto the best-feeling thoughts you have access to and ride them up. Over time it will raise your vibration and improve your experience without regard to outside conditions. You see how there is freedom in being able to always pull yourself back to center? Just keep bringing yourself back, bringing yourself back, again and again and you’ll find your life shifting in ways you really like.

Stay in the flow and you’ll fare well, even if it takes you a minute to realize.

Do you get advice from the birds?

Mood Management: Tarot Forecast, Jan 2 – 8, 2017

Sometimes when I’m out and about, people will come up to me to comment on my hair.

Some are complimentary, or they tell me I’m brave. That amuses me a little.

Because I’m not scared of hair color. I’m not scared of looking funny for a little while if something goes weird. But most of all (and what they are usually talking about), I’m not scared of other people disapproving of me.

Happens all the time.

Really, I like when that happens. As we live as true to ourselves as possible, others will disapprove. Which is quite convenient, if you ask me. The ones that don’t vibe with me get pre-sorted out, no fuss. They can be with their people and I, with mine.

Reactions are personal to the reactor, not the recipient. Reactions are never really about what that person is seeing so much as they are about how an individual interprets what they see. There is always a filter of belief coloring reaction.

[bctt tweet=”Beliefs are the filters we forget we are peeking through. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

We get to pick, what beliefs to hold. We get to filter the color of our own reactions. That’s a useful little trick, right there.

My sense of the coming week is like subjectivity on steroids. It’s feeling watery as Hell. Whether one likes the sensation or not all that much, it behoves us all to wide whatever waves we’ve got as best we can, no? Plus we can get some fun out of the deal.

Monday, Ace of Cups. There is a bit of a feeling of a fresh start. Reflective mood. Where have I been? Where am I going? Time to consider where you’re at emotionally. Contemplation will come naturally.

Tuesday, Strength rx: Just a little bit of impatience. All those fresh starts of the New Year may just not be as instant as you’d prefer. To deal, focus on one thing, one area of attention, and in that area, take one concrete, tangible act. If you intend to keep a nicer space, don’t feel overwhelmed. Pick up one small area, and fix THAT. The feelings of being overwhelmed and impatient can be sidestepped by allowing yourself more breathing space. It will help.

Wednesday, Nine of Swords upright: Pegging this as worry. Suspicion or paranoia possible. Trust is a bit elusive. If anything is not clear to you today, let it sit and clarify. It will clarify and your perceptions may be murky. No need to jump right on top of ambiguous stimuli. A lot of unrest is internal, so let the fog clear before drawing conclusions.

Thursday, The Magician: The garden grows according to what you plant. The finished building runs according to the foundation you lay. What you have now is an outcropping of what you laid down initially. Realize where you are is according to how you lay down the foundation. Not from a judgey/self-critical space. From a standing-in-your-personal power space. Focus and prioritize feeling good to reclaim your power.

Friday, Page of Pentacles Rx: Easy to drop a detail. Easy to miss a little something or other. Doublecheck and take your time. Go back over plans and give ’em a second readthrough. Be flexible. I’m seeing lateness, little annoyances. Be prepared for minor slowdowns, one thing at a time, easy on the multitasking, things will go smoother. Potential for miscommunication, someone “not getting the message” so be aware.

Saturday, Two of Pentacles rx: Something could easily fall through the cracks. I’m seeing someone oversleeping their alarm, missing a plane, etc. Have backup plans in place, and give yourself space to pick up any dropped stitches because there will be some. Then you’ll be sitting pretty.

Sunday, Four of Pentacles: Some ups and downs throughout the week, but a lot of them are just perceptual. This some rest and ease in stability. Some rest. You can exhale today.

Overview/Advice, Ten of Cups: Have as much fun as you can during the week. Don’t judge on terms of outside conditions. Judge in terms of how you feel, and prioritize your feelings. Many times in the choice between looking for a thought that feels good vs. accurate assessments, we choose accurate because we don’t want to feel foolish. But I’d argue to always assume the best. Even if you know it’s not all warm and fuzzy, it’s okay to remember it has nothing to do with you. Put lots of emphasis on being as happy as you can and it will make motion forward much easier.

Affirmation: I can deliberately reach for joyous thoughts. You don’t have control over many outside conditions. There are lots of things any of us look at and will think, this can be better. We all have the choice, how involved we want to be in other people’s heads, or do we want to just reach for joyous thoughts? Every disaster thus far has worked out. Look at what you feel better thinking.

The quality of the experience is about mood managements. You may not initially think it’s within your control but it is.

How are you with mood management?
