Four of Wands Rx: Figuring it Out as We Go

I am generally not an anxious person. Right now, though…eh. Not so much my general temperament. I’m feeling at least regular twinges of worry and stress…

Probably along with 99.8% of the rest of the world.

Now I could rattle off a list of situations and unresolved questions to justify those feelings, for sure. My feelings are completely understandable from a logical perspective. Yours no doubt are, as well. I just see no benefit from justifying feelings. They are not right or wrong. They just are.

Besides–I have always found it far more helpful to accept and accommodate my feelings than to pick them apart. Explaining feelings repeatedly entrenches them. Fighting feelings as somehow “wrong” just doesn’t work. The only thing that’s always effective is riding the feelings out. That’s what takes you to the other side.

Next week, expect some generalized angst and a sense of (perhaps many) matters remaining unsettled. With a little faith, however, we can absolutely ride through the uncomfortable feelings to reach the other side. For real.

Next Week in Tarot

For the outlook, we have the Four of Wands reversed. Advice is the Hanged Man. Cards pictured are from the Crystal Visions Tarot deck.

Often, I read the Four of Wands as a feeling of “coming home,” finding your safe space. Reversed, the card suggests you’ll get home but still feel uneasy. I expect feelings of being unsettled or ill at ease to be prevalent throughout the coming week. This may persist even if there are no outward signs of things amiss.

Tell me something I don’t know, Tarot.

Still, I love the Hanged Man here for advice. Don’t do anything until you’re ready. Expect it all to work. Have some faith: in yourself; in your people; in the world; and in the Universe. Work that faith.

Make a mantra of the phrase, “We’ll figure it out as we go.”

We will, you know. We always do.

I mean, face it. How often does life go exactly as we plan? Just this side of never? But we do what we do, anyway. We figure it out as we go. We put one foot in front of the other today and then get up and do it tomorrow. Along the way, we can often find flowers to smell or birds to watch or people to hug.

So take it easy this coming week. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Accept whatever feelings come your way and call upon your faith (as opposed to massive action) to manage. Before you know it, we’ll have ridden to the other side. So hang on and be kind to yourselves through the process. We’re on this ride together.

You feeling angsty? Can you call upon your faith to help?

Queen of Swords: Writing Your Own Story

I’ve spent damn near a lifetime separating out what other people think of me from what I think of myself. Most days, it’s pretty automatic now, although occasionally I’ll run something that strikes a sore spot.

It took me a very long time to realize unless I agree at least a little bit with any assertion, it doesn’t impact me. If there’s no foothold inside me already, I cannot be touched.

The root of any emotional reaction isn’t from an outside stimulus. It’s internal. Keep that in mind the coming week…

Next Week in Tarot

For the weekly outlook, we have the Queen of Swords paired with advice from the Four of Wands using the Star Tarot (which I may or may not be slightly obsessed with at this point).

Now, I don’t read the Queen of Swords as “negative” per se, although she’s not especially warm and fuzzy, either. She is focused and precise, though. She cuts through whatever stands in her way and some would no doubt describe her as cold.

A “Queen of Swords week” would have facts surfacing, calculations made and some options eliminated. She excels in clarification, honing in on a particular course or outcome. Also, understand none of the Queen’s actions are actually personal regardless of how it may feel. This queen doesn’t operate that way. The Queen of Swords is all about the end game. Her vision of the end game will match her idea of the greater good. But the how-to part of her game puts emphasis on the bigger picture, not the individual components.

In terms of advice, the Four of Wands came in reversed for me (set upright for the picture). I see this as folks potentially feeling disrupted by what they see and hear around them.

Your job–should you choose to accept it–is to create a safe haven for yourself ANYWAY. Regardless of what happens in the outside world, you can foster an internal sense of stability, safety, and comfort for yourself. This is much easier when we remind ourselves such feelings are internal, not externally generated.

[bctt tweet=”Nobody else gets to write YOUR story.” username=”goddess_dix”]

It’s true, events spill over from outside yourself that may impact you. But we give others way too much control over (and credit for) how we feel. We act as if there is nothing we can do about our reactions to anything when in fact, the opposite is true. How you feel about anything is very closely tied to how you choose to think about it.

Others can and will tell whatever story they see fit. But for it to become YOUR story, you have to cooperate by believing it.

Do you feel like have a handle on your own story?

Four of Wands & Nine of Wands: Self-Contained Stability

“You would do well to get over caring what other people think about you.” I was talking to one of my Tarot peeps recently when I gave this advice.

I know, I know. It’s definitely easier said than done.

But think about when this comes up, okay? We don’t need this sort of reassurance unless we’re shakey. If you’re confident already, there is no drive to find the outside confirmation. You just know. And in terms of stability, “just knowing” is the best place to find oneself.

On the other hand, when someone is unsure on some level, it begins to feel important–even vital–to get all the people to sign on. Putting aside the fact that getting mass adoption for any vision is pretty much a physical impossibility, the underlying question is even more compelling: do you really want to depend on others for stability? Because if you need the agreement, that’s exactly what you’re doing.

Of course, I love to take people along for the ride when I find something that works for me. I value being of service and it means a lot to me that sometimes, my thoughts or perspectives are useful to others. BUT that doesn’t mean I need the approval to feel okay. I also don’t advise looking to be of service directly until you’re at a point you’re comfortable when people ignore your input or just flat out disagree. Otherwise, you’re still kind of screwed.

I aim for a very self-contained stability. That’s the only way to be unflappable, you know? That idea is right up there with looking to the conditions around me to decide if I’m happy or not. There is just no point in that unless I want to be at the mercy of whatever I happen to look at. Not for me! It can be done internally. That’s the only way to have stability. So I’d suggest you reach for that. And next week? You’ll probably get a chance to practice.

Next Week in Tarot

Four of Wands rx Nine of Wands

This week, the forecast is coming in as the Four of Wands reversed, with advice from the Nine of Wands. This is the lovely Star Tarot deck.

Expect the general psychic weather to be unsettled. People may not be feeling safe or at peace; there’s a sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Maybe it’s you or maybe it’s just other folks, but there is a definite sense of unrest here.

In terms of advice? Fear and worry are contagious. Don’t catch it! Stand your ground. Tired or not, look to remain centered and sane, okay? Assume that what you see going on around you has a purpose and contributes to the bigger picture, whether or not you feel privy to the bigger picture.

Maybe to the people following the news, this seems like a ridiculous stance. I understand how looking around and seeing things you don’t like is upsetting. I am certainly not immune. But I do know that I can manage my perspective to choose those thoughts and ideas that feel best to me. I do know I can decide how much grief or struggle I will expose myself to on a daily basis. I do know that whenever things get tough, there call for improvement (and hence the energy in that direction) intensifies. I do know there is every bit as much good in the world as bad. And I know I have the choice of what I focus upon.

Do whatever you can–whatever you must, really–to stay solid, grounded and well this coming week. Expect that some folks may struggle and of course, extend your compassion and loving energy in their direction when you see it. But don’t get on that oh-my-God-the-world-is-scary train, because it’s hard to get off and it’s not going anywhere you want to go, anyway.

Are you feeling steady, grounded and safe? What might you do to enhance that?

Be well, friends! And if you need a little reorienting, feel free to holler at me for a one-on-one.

Picking Perspective: Tarot Forecast, Nov 7 – Nov 13, 2016

One of my websites was a mess. I set about to fix it last night and it took me…I dunno. Six hours? Eight hours? Something like that. A tedious process, one page, one post at a time.

But I’m not looking for sympathy.

I could have easily gotten mad about the update that broke my site. Or cussed the developers and sent them nasty emails and social media complaints insisting they fix what they broke. The thought did cross my mind. I felt that decision point acutely, once I realized what was going on. Be upset or just dig in and do it?

Truth or not, blame wasn’t going to fix my mess, and it certainly wasn’t going to make me feel any better. Blame feels lousy–and powerless. The only thing that was going to fix my mess was me! And it could be hard–I could angry and upset for the hours I worked on it. Or it could be easy–glad I have the skills and knowledge to figure out what needed to be done and the time to just sit down and do it.

One step, one step, one step at a time. Methodically, clearly, one step at a time. Each step takes us closer.

There are  lot of things in this world like this. Life is messy and sticky and sometimes, kind of ouchy. You know? I use a trivial example but in the big scheme of existence, it’s the same principles holding for issues big or small. Most of the time, fault doesn’t matter. Only desired outcome matters. Only focus matters.

Focus and perspective determine your subjective experience. And we’re damn lucky that’s the case. Because perspective is self-induced and self-directed. Meaning we have control, and the freedom to decide what our experience is going to feel like. This is going to depend entirely on you. And this coming week is kind of like that.

Tarot Forecast Nov 7, 2016

This week? Would be a good idea to be aware of your perspective. We’ve got a mix of suits, with several inverted cards at the beginning of the week. So expect a slowish start, but it is what it is Overall, the questions, “How big a deal is this, really? What can I do to get where I want to be?” will serve you very well here.

Monday, Eight of Swords rx: Those doors that feel closed and locked are not locked and they are only closed because you’ve decided they are. You have options, always. Right here and right now, you have options you have not been seeing. Today, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of those options if you’re open to that. You can make significant and quite perceptible shifts if you take advantage of this window of opportunity. Look for them! Don’t be the only thing standing in your own way, dude.

Tuesday, Three of Cups rx: Some comfort in chitchatting with friends and social communities, but it’s incomplete. Whatever you share, be judicious about it. And be aware of how invested you are in other people’s lives. There is support, but it’s good to always retain status as one’s own guiding light.

Wednesday, Page of Swords rx: If you are signing agreements, read twice. Potential for something “just not quite right” in written material. Also potential for lies to be flitted about. If you can wait to sign an agreement, that would be good. If you cannot, that’s okay; for contract or verbal agreements,  though, double check the particulars.

Thursday, Ten of Swords: Many may be feeling overwhelmed with too much to do, think, handle, or figure out. Too much, too much, too much! Pace yourself, prioritize and don’t take on too much. And please don’t criticize yourself for being where you are. Just a little at a time, a little at a time, and feel good about every single step. One step at a time.

Friday, Strength: This vibe feels easier and more stable today. To deal with the flavor of yesterday’s energy, Strength suggests a gentle, but persistent approach, a light touch, over and over works well. Don’t go in gangbusters during the time. Deal gently, lightly, easily, confidently, a little and a little and a little and keep going. You’ve got what it takes to manage what you need to. Use a light touch, being persistent. Not insistent, persistent.

Saturday, Seven of Wands rx: Could express this energy as going along with the crowd even though you don’t agree, or as someone going underground with their beliefs and feelings to avoid conflict. It could manifest even as unexpected support for your convictions from quarters you didn’t expect. Just be aware of polarization and don’t hesitate to withdraw and eep your own counsel. Nothing wrong with that.

Sunday, Four of Wands rx: Would rather see it upright, but still a nice card. You can have harmony, a safe and happy place. as long as you don’t insist everyone feels and thinks they way you do. You can have an oasis in the storm but you have to create it yourself and carry it around with you. In other words, it’s built on internal perspective.

[bctt tweet=”Peace of mind is always homemade. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

Overview/Advice, Five of Cups rx: Be aware of potential for emotional overreaction and making a much bigger deal of things than they need to be. This is a vibe at large and MAN are we seeing it all over the place!  Take a deep breath (or 100), dial it back and let it play out before declaring the world as we know it has ended. Slow down.

Affirmation: I am willing to let go. There have been times I’ve been convinced things MUST go a certain way because it mattered so much. Sometimes, it did go my way but lots of times, not really. Not even close. And the world somehow didn’t implode. The suffering I felt was directly related to my willingness to let go of what was not within my control and live my own life and not try to fix others’ lives. Even others I loved very, very much. Whether it’s kids, spouse, friends, family, country, or, or, or, whoever it is, the only way it can stay alive and active in your experience is if you focus with thoughts, feelings, etc. The more energy you put into it, the more you attract of a similar feeling tone. If you don’t like it, give it as little attention as possible. Let it go and move on!

How are you doing managing your perspective?

Looking for What You Like: Tarot Forecast, Sept 26 – Oct 2

Back in the days when I worked in an office. I liked to give out cards at Christmas. Maybe stick a candy cane to them or something. But the real gift was the note inside.

For each person I worked with, I would spend a little while and write out a handwritten note of appreciation, mentioning something I particularly liked or enjoyed about them. I wanted each note to be personal, and completely heartfelt.

Sounds lovely, huh?

But you know the problem with that, right?

There’s always “that one guy,” or “that woman…” agh! The one that gets under your skin and drives you crazy.

“I don’t wanna do a note for So-and-So,” I’d think, a little belligerently, to tell the truth. Except it would be pretty rude to hand out sweet notes to everybody but that one.

This meant a few of my cards took an extra long time to compose. These challenging cards required me to step outside my ego a little bit and relax the defensive stance long enough to find something true, uplifting and kind in my heart to say about the somebody who absolutely drove me batty.

Funny thing, about those tough-to-write notes? While my notes were well received in general, the hard ones were the best received and without exception, my interactions always improved after writing one of those harder notes.

This week is a lot like that. Look for what you like–even if it’s harder to see than what’s in your face–and you’ll do well.

Audio Version of This Forecast – more rambly goodness.

Monday, Future – Four of Wands rx: Don’t run too far into the future, in your head. Don’t make a big deal out of, “Where is this going, where is this going, where is this going?” There is a lot of wiggle room in the energy right now. Wrong turns may be just the break you need. So get your chill on.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Knight of Pentacles rx: It’s okay to want what you want. More money, more stuff, more friends, more comfort. It’s ALL okay to want, whatever it is you want, for yourself, without guilt. Your suffering does not add to the life of another. Lifting up yourself is contributing to the whole at the same time. If you find yourself fussing about wants, allow yourself the space to like what you like without guilt. Appreciate what is already around you; that will clear up any wobbles in your vibe in very short order.

Wednesday, What to Avoid – Ace of Cups: Normally, the Ace of Cups would be a small feeling, one that’s just taking root. So practice an awareness of your emotions. If you find yourself out of emotional sorts, actively look to soften that emotion and get re-centered. So back off from the specific negatives to more generally negative…to more generally positive. Any uncomfortable emotion, look to soften it up in the early stages before it gets bigger.

[bctt tweet=”Shift toward positive emotions when feelings are little, before they’ve grown. #OnMyRadar”]

Thursday, Cons & Friendships – Two of Wands rx: Be aware of the egos of friends – or how they may step on your ego’s toes. There is no need for everybody to see things the same way. Your job is not to set anyone else’s vision. It’s to be true to your own vision. Today, the work is not to gain widespread agreement. The work is to live what you know.

Friday, Lesson – Empress: Nurture yourself! Self-care is awesome. Arts and crafts, or any kind of creative project, is especially rejuvenating. Soothe yourself and be gentle with you.

Saturday, Problem – The Fool: This combination says, the issue is what you don’t know. Your job is to gather more info. It’s a day for fact finding.

Sunday, Finances – Death rx: Ugh! No, I’m not going to say, “Your bank account looks like death warmed over.” Because, c’mon! But I will say, if you have been working on finances? You’ve made strides. To go further, add more harmony in your life and less discord. Don’t fight about money with anybody. Out loud or in your head, don’t bother with how anybody else believes money should be spent. Look for areas of agreement, and ignore other stuff. Think of a field that’s been burned out, with new seedlings germinating and popping up. It takes time, so be patient! Let it be and it will shift.

Overview/Advice, Blocking or Covering – Page of Wands rx: Stress from people pulling different ways this week. Don’t be overbearing in advocating for your opinion or option. You don’t have to agree with everybody or anybody. Just look to understand other perspectives. That is enough.

Affirmation – The better it gets, the better it gets. You will find what you’re looking for. So if you’re looking for ways to correct you kid, you’ll find issue after issue after issue to correct. If you’re looking for awesome things about your kid, you’ll find that, over and over and over, again too. Look for what you love. Don’t push against anything this week. It’s fine, not to find harmony with everybody and everything.  Just look for what you like. And have an awesome week!

Do you try to look for what you like in situations?

Be The Light Or Look for It: Weekly Tarot Flow, June 19 – 25, 2016

I’ve been thinking about what creates a feeling of security.

We can say, “Oh, I’ll feel secure when I have this much in the bank, when I have this relationship, when this other thing is going okay for me.”

And we mean it. But that’s not true.

I know for a fact, there isn’t a magic event that creates a sense of security. Even those things we think will do it, don’t.

Because much like happiness, security isn’t bestowed by a specific set of outside events. That feeling is an internal state. An internal hunger can only be filled for a short time from outer circumstance. It’s not long before that hunger has to be fed again.

And that sense of safety is not something you can give somebody else. If you have some and want to share, the best you can do is be the lighthouse.

A lighthouse doesn’t go looking for lost ships to tell them which way to turn. It just stands and shines. Solid, unwavering and consistent. Those who are so inclined can certainly use the light to orient themselves.

This week? Be the lighthouse if you can. If not? Look for the light to lead your way. Either works.

20160618_161808_HDR

We’ve got a few majors this week, so I’m anticipating some punch to events, especially through midweek. We start out with a “wait and see, and keep your mouth shut doing it,” for the first couple of days. Midweek, just be sincere. I don’t even know what that Death card is about on Thursday, but keep yourself grounded. And the last couple of days into the weekend could be time for cleaning up, adjusting your attitude back to optimistic if you can, and self-care yourself silly this weekend. It will help keep your attitude on track!

Monday, Ace of Pentacles Rx: Keep an eye on spending, lest some of your cash get away from you. Lower energy day, so pace yourself. Not un-doable by any means. Just pace yourself. And if you’re in question about something that comes up? Hold off, don’t act for a couple of days. The answer will clarify before the end of the week.

Tuesday, Seven of Swords: Mouth? Shut. Good time to keep some of your observation to yourself. Let others underestimate what you know. Just do your thing and stay out of the fray today.

Wednesday, Knight of Cups: Act from your heart today, even if you feel a little sappy. Very important to act only in ways which you can feel good about. Compassion, kindness and empathy are great assets. Spread them everywhere!

Thursday, Death: Ouch. If you’ve got something that is wiped out, blows up? Realize it was to that point, that nothing could be done. Just clean up the mess, but know that what replaces it? It will be stronger, better. If you don’t feel this, well, I’m glad! But know others may be dealing with this flavor of energy. So tread lightly.

Friday, Magician Rx: Control what you can and let go of what you can’t. You’ll see some of both. It’s okay. All things work out in due time.

Saturday, Wheel Rx: Look for encouragement in small accomplishments, without expecting everything will necessarily be to your liking, at least just quite yet. Lucky breaks are on the horizon, but not quite here yet.

Sunday, King of Cups: Emotionally replenishing day on order! Eat well, drink a little if you like, and spend time doing whatever speaks to your heart–preferrably with people who also speak to your heart.

Overview/Advice, Six of Pentacles Rx: Give others a chance to figure out their own problems. You’re not doing favors by stepping in before you’re asked. Focus your energy this week on yourself and what you need.

Affirmation, Four of Wands: Celebrate the good. There is always some, and it’s always worth celebrating. And from this celebration, your sense of security and abundance grows. This is one, very important way you can be the light. ♥
