Magician and King of Pents: Magical Words vs. Practical Actions

I heard from someone recently whom I’ve not talked with in a very, very long time.

It was just a little surreal, if you want to know the truth.

The words and ideas were incredibly familiar. Deja Vu. I understood the points of reference, because they were an integral part of my history. At the same time, there was a disconnect. That history remains history, not active in the present tense.

It was sort of like he was trying to speak to the person I used to be, hoping to call her to action. That chick doesn’t live here anymore. Her purpose was making the way for who I am, today. And who I am today will make way for who I become, tomorrow. That’s my idea of a good life, anyway.

Next week has kind of a similar vibe. Forget winning over anybody to your version of righteousness. Just live your own vision of what being a good human looks like. The rest will sort itself.

Next Week in the Cards

The outlook this week comes in the guise of The Magician, with advice as the King of Earth (Pentacles), pictured here from The Good Tarot.

With Magician as a forecast, people will be weaving their own stories in the week to come. They will likely be acting on those stories as well–the Magician is a can-do kind of guy. He channels personal focus into working his own magic.

It’s worth noting that the Magician is  ruled by Mercury. Therefore, we’re talking about a very focused and very mentally active energy. The phrase “you can hear the wheels turning in his head” could be describing the Magician. He’s looking to put together a spell to make things happen, and he’s not necessarily above utilizing slight of hand in the process.

While I generally like to see the Magician in readings because he indicates utilizing personal power, he has a different tone for me this week forecast. I still believe his intentions are on the up-and-up. But using your personal power/magic to run your own life is much different than using it to manipulate.

Advising us on the way forward, however, is the always solid King of Pentacles. This King is highly pragmatic and well-appointed to ground and balance the more mental energy of the Magician. Pentacles speak to manifestation, real-world practicalities. Kings rule kingdoms full of real, live subjects, after all. Their reign is not limited to the theoretical.

This King is especially concerned with the physical well-being of his kingdom. So the help he offers is often of a very concrete, practical nature. Do those in front of him have enough to eat? Do that have adequate shelter and clothing? Philosophy takes a back seat to immediate, physical needs in his priority list.

I’m expecting a week where information disseminated may be especially slanted or cherry-picked to suit a specific narrative. Honestly it feels a little silly even suggesting such, because there is so much of that already. We’re surrounded by competing narratives vying for the status of “truth” every single day.  How is it even worth commenting upon?

And yet, these cards suggest being more aware than usual of this phenomena. So it’s likely to be particularly easy to get caught up in the weeds if you’re not watching for it. We all fall into this to some degree anyway. What’s most credible, what stands out as being especially meaningful to each of us personally is based upon what we already believe.

To ground and stay clear, channel the King here. He’s a very practical guy. Address your own physical needs first–health, food and rest. Then begin working your way out through the “kingdom.” Family, friends, neighbors may be addressed and then, as time and energy allows, the world at large.

I wouldn’t bother trying to change someone’s mind about what’s “real” next week. Not much point. But if you see someone hungry? Feed them (or contribute to an organization that does). If you see someone struggling, lend a hand. Offer a word of encouragement, a prayer or a little support as you’re able. Do what you can to help yourself, your loved ones and then to those you meet.

Small, heartfelt acts of kindness, compassion and love–even a smile or a kind word–will do the most good for the most people. It’s how you stay sane, grounded and clear here, no matter what you see on the TV.

Just address what’s right in front of you with the sole intention of being helpful. That’s all you can realistically do, but the good news is that it’s absolutely enough!

Be well, friends.

If you’d like a personal consult, hit me up and we’ll talk.

Ten of Pentacles Rx: Mind Your Own Affairs

I was hanging out with a friend recently. She was talking about catching some grief for befriending folks who live to a different standard than she (and the other person) follows.

The specific differences we’re talking are irrelevant, really.  It could have been a Republican to a Democrat or a Christian to an atheist or whatever. Anything that entails a differing set of beliefs about what’s moral and true would qualify.  The combinations are endless.

“They’re good people. That’s all I need to know. ”  In short, she doesn’t run someone’s life through any sort of ideological litmus test before opening up her heart.

I’ve got mad respect for that approach. I think it’s so much more fruitful to live the best life I can personally than to appoint myself director of everyone else’s choices.

This coming week, it would be a great approach to emulate. (And after that as well, but that’s another issue.)

Next Week in Tarot

For the outlook, we’ve got the Ten of Pentacles (reversed) and advice was the King of Pentacles (also reversed). I photographed them upright because the level of detail on artwork of the Illuminati Tarot is much easier to take in upright.

Here’s the video version.

A lot is going on in the world. Many people–perhaps some especially close to you–have many opinions of what’s righteous versus what’s folly amongst the hubbub.

Your job is to make completely sure you’re managing YOUR affairs. You all know I’m always harping on staying in your own lane–as much a reminder to myself as to anyone else. But this week, the cards are backing me up on this one. There’s enough going on already. You just do YOU, okway?

If you want a little extra perspective while you’re figuring out what you want, though, I’m more than glad to help. Give me a holler for a private session.

King of Pentacles Reversed: Help that is Helpful

“Believing in someone is a much greater gift than protecting them. ” I was handing out this (unsolicited) advice to a friend recently, and I felt the punch of it even as I said the words.

I had to laugh later when I realized: this is advice I could well stand to heed myself. That’s why I felt the extra punch.

Parenting helped me some in this regard, but it sure didn’t eradicate the drive to fix or rescue. No matter whose knot it is, I want to untangle it. The urge is compelling, not subtle. And the urge says a lot more about me than the specific person or predicament I’m looking at.

[bctt tweet=”What you feel is about your interpretation, not what you are seeing.” via=”no”]

Of course, there is nothing wrong with being part of another’s solution. That’s a very humbling and rewarding role. I get the honor of this often when I read Tarot. But that doesn’t mean I’m the ultimate origin of the solution. Anything but!

It may seem like a subtle distinction, but in reality, it’s huge: if I’m solid, tuned in and steady, I remain receptive to the ongoing flow of intuitive inspiration. So in those interactions, I can easily find the just right words to deliver at just the right time. I know exactly what to do and exactly when to do it.

My faith in what I know about the Universe and the power I know everyone has can help override their worries. I’m not infected by their distress. It’s not that I don’t care. It’s really the opposite: I see them in their power and I know in a very strong way, they are equipped to create their own lives, whether or not they’re plugged into that fact.

Really, feelings of love, caring and faith are my cues I’m actually being helpful. When I feel scared or upset for someone–and see myself somehow as the path to their salvation or worry that I don’t know how to save them–that’s evidence I’m currently off-center and have little to offer beyond amplifying what they are already feeling.

Thanks, Tarot, for another timely reminder in the form of next week’s forecast.

Next Week in Tarot

This week, our forecast shows up in the guise of the King of Pentacles reversed with advice from the Eight of Wands reversed (Mini Radiant Rider-Waite in a Tin). While these aren’t particularly harsh Tarot cards, seeing them both reversed adds an element of tension.

For a little more clarification,  I grabbed my Botanical Inspirations deck and we got Amaryllis: Determination and Creative Achievement. It’s speaking to the outcome of following this advice.

I suspect we’ll generally have what we need to manage this coming week, but may not feel very sure of that fact. We may reach out to others, especially for practical or physical assistance. There’s also a potential for over-extending personal resources in an effort to rescue or otherwise provide for others you may not see as capable of taking care of themselves.

So questioning either your own ability to manage or someone else’s may be part of the mix. In either case, you want to make sure any action taken is done so from the right place. If you find yourself saying something like, “If I don’t do this, who will?” that’s your cue, you’re buying into a mirage. Same goes for thinking, “There’s no way I can manage this.” Both are illusion.

The advice here is to the point: don’t see anything as “an iffy situation.” It’s not. See it as workable. See any problem or crisis as serving a purpose, a turning point or improvement opportunity.  See whatever situations that crop up as necessary, even helpful to strengthing and clarifying the greater picture. See it all as a means of leveling up.

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” –Maya Angelou

True creativity is inspired. That’s why you cannot use it up. Your job isn’t to produce it from thin air, either for yourself or someone else. Your job is to tune in and allow the flow. This also sets the stage for other people hooking up to it as your connection helps influence them at the same time.

I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t provide support. Done right, that’s a beautiful experience for all involved! But when you do it from a position of strength in compensation for another’s weakness, it’s only reinforcing the status quo and lack of stability. If it doesn’t feel good, it’s not really helping.

I AM saying to only offer your own energy up from a steady and grounded space. If you want to provide meaningful support, do so only when you’re feeling strong love, appreciation, and respect for the strength and abilities of the other person you wish to assist. In such cases, you are tuned in and whatever you give will have a much more meaningful and longer-lasting impact. And isn’t that why we do it?

How comfortable are you with providing support? Have you noticed it working this way for you?

If you’d like a little support coming from a space of faith in your abilities to master your life, give me a holler for a personal session. ~Dix

King of Pentacles & 5 of Wands Rx: Full Table

There’s still an edge in the (energetic) weather out there. I assume you’ve noticed? Many people are wrought up and many are angry or scared.

I mean, that doesn’t mean you have to be upset yourself. It’s certainly okay if you are. I’m not going to judge you! But whenever you can find ways to soften it up, feel a little better, it’s good to do that. It’s a kindness to yourself and it can encourage others within your sphere of influence. So it’s public service as well. Har!

The world is changing and disruption is always part of evolution.  It doesn’t mean it’s necessary to be stuck in it.

You know what really helped me? I gave myself permission not to feel like I’m on the hook for deciding how best to solve every problem.

It sounds kind of ridiculous when I put it that way. But we do that, to ourselves. We feel like we must generate an informed opinion on the rightness and wrongness of what everyone in the world does. We think we have to be for or against every idea about how to live or rule our world. We feel like we must be personally responsible for making sure everyone’s needs are met and the world is running smoothly. So often, we feel like we must understand everything and most of all, DO SOMETHING.

I gave myself permission to pick and choose, how I want to focus my own energy. It’s enough to wish well out unto the world without holding myself individually responsible for the entire execution.  I can send out my good wishes, kind thoughts, magic mojo and prayers out there for the betterment of all. And best of all, I don’t have to figure out how those intentions come about. I have faith I’ll get to be part of it, in all the ways I’m inspired to participate. But even from the start, I am participating by holding and amplifying the good vibes. I love that job.

Next Week in Tarot

This week, the outlook card is the King of Pentacles, with advice coming in as the Five of Wands reversed from the colorful Star Tarot.

I want to tell you there is enough, of everything–enough food, enough time, enough love, enough money. The King of Pentacles always has enough and then some. But even more than that? There is enough room for all of us. You don’t need to fight. I mean, you can. I’m certainly not going to try and stop anybody, or I’d be fighting, too. But it’s not necessary.

I’m hearing The Who in my head.

“I don’t need to fight, to prove I’m right. I don’t need to be forgiven…”

You know what? You don’t. None of us do.  Of course, if we claim that freedom for ourselves, we have to extend it to others. That’s only fair, right?

This week–appreciate all the food on your table, literally and metaphorically. Expect to have what you need. Expect others to find what they need. Exercise your faith. Circumnavigate as much of the conflict as you can. Use your own conscious focus to  It will make for a much more comfortable (and satisfying) week.

Be well, friends.

King of Pentacles: Finding Your Flow

Sometimes, I wish I were better at taking my own damn advice.

Recently, taking the advice I’m about to hand out here would have come in very handy. Too bad I didn’t manage it.

But every day is new, right?

The King of Pentacles (Cosmic Tarot) is a happy dude. He enjoys what he’s got and he enjoys sharing it.  You can expect to eat well if you hang about his house. He’s on deck this week, but the caveat is that he can do his work in your life much easier if you loosen up a bit about fears on getting what is needed first. Being okay with now while expecting more is what’s going to click everything into place.

The Trumpet Gentian (Botanical Inspirations) suggests being at peace with your now. That’s very good advice, and if it’s not coming smooth, you don’t have to attack it head-on. In fact, it’s easier not to go head on, if you’re feeling some struggle. Just look to set it aside a little and assign it to the Universe to sort.

So, we’ve got the reassurance, needs will be met. The King is clear about that. Follow that up the faith that comes from lining up your energy with what you want, and the trek will be SO MUCH smoother.

It’s not the faulty circumstances you want to force into a better place here. It’s your flow–the ease with which your life operates.  You want to be going with the current rather than against it, and that’s not action work. It’s energy work, which sets in motion the circumstances and events necessary to progress. You can progress by fighting your way through it, but man. It’s hard work.

Never, ever, ever skip lining up the energy. Especially if it’s something you care a lot about. It just takes a few minutes but it can save you countless hours of struggle.

Hang in there and be well, folks! Much love.

Purposeful Destruction: Tarot Forecast, Week of 4/10 – 4/16, 2017

I was contemplating, just how much we spend our lives reinventing ourselves. You know? In so many ways, on a day-by-day basis.

We’re children. We’re grade-schoolers. We’re college students or girlfriends or bus drivers or parents or woo-woo folks or, or, or… We’re either victim or victor courtesy of the definition we give our stories.

[bctt tweet=”Our stories help us evolve. Choose wisely.” username=”goddess_dix”]

But some stories no longer work. They were appropriate in their time, but conditions change–the most often, us. We evolve, grow, and that’s a wonderful thing. The awkward and uncomfortable bits can get messy.

It’s easier when you realize what’s going on. This week? It felt like that, to me. Our stories are shifting around. The outside world is not grounded, and there is a definite clearing of the decks.

Full Moon in Libra (4/10). The lights are coming up.

Your job is to reinvent yourself.

Transcript from the video below.

Hey! So this last week has been kinda nuts, huh? What are you gonna do?!

I will do my best, though, to see what I can get for you for some Tarot guidance for the week ahead.

Hey, this is Dixie from A Fool’s Journey dot com. I am here with some weekly Tarot for you, for the week of April, what is it? 4th through 10? [No, Dixie, it’s not.] 2017. I hid my cheat sheet.

I have, this week, the Osho Zen deck. Now I prefer to read these guys without reversals because it’s a nontraditional deck and it can get a little sloppy if you start bringing too many things into it. But we’ll take a look anyway.

[1] Ten of Wands, Moon, Hierophant [Advice/Ten of Swords] [2] Death, King of Pentacles [3] Ace of Swords

Ho, ho, ho. Okay. The first thing that I want to say is, we start the week with a sense of being overwhelmed! Like carrying a weight of the world on our shoulders. It’s important that you, you let go a little bit. You wanna realize that being very upset or very worked up about things you have no absolutely no control over is probably not your best plan. But what are you gonna do?

Moving into it, as, as the week progresses, there is a shift of the energy. I do feel like it gets a little bit lighter. But not fluffy. Okay? Absolutely not fluffy. We’ve got Death! But we also have Abundance, which is the King of Pentacles.

Okay, so. Understand that what’s going on, that all of the things that are happening right now are a function of stuff getting rooted out or changed in the world. That Death is associated with Scorpio, Pluto energy, so we’re talking about death and rebirth! Transformation. What’s rotting and icky and old getting rooted out. So, is it a good thing? Well, it’s a necessary thing for life to continue. Does it feel good? Not usually. But what are you gonna do?

Now the outcome of this, um, for the outcome, we have Consciousness. Hmmmmmm.

So the point of all of this is there is a new awareness or a new ability to deal with things that comes through the course of this. Now since this a forecast for the collective, I’m expecting to see this, kind of on a large scale, but also on kind of a more micro scale. So macro, micro. So, whatever feels like it’s just being torn up and uprooted and messed around, something fierce in your life, understand that there’s a reason for it. And you’ll come with a new awareness, and ability, once it’s done.

Okay? Let’s do a take-home message, or a, a advice/overview. Okay.

For that, I’ve got rebirth. Which is, I believe the ten of swords [it is]. No, wait a minute. Yeah, that’s the ten of wands. Eh. Anyway, rebirth.

So, it’s a good time to reinvent yourself.

Now if you follow astrology, you know that several planets are either retrograde or going retrograde. We’ve got Mercury retrograde, starting the 9th, I believe it is? So, there’s going to be a lot of review and looking back and then adjusting and fitting it into current circumstance. Understand that’s kind of a part of what’s going on. Doesn’t mean there’s something wrong.

So this week feels a little heavy to me, but in the big picture, in the bigger, broader view, it’s, I think it’s gonna be a good thing. Although I’m an eternal optimist, so what are you gonna do?

So that’s my forecast for the week. I hope it’s helpful to you. Yay! And if it’s not, maybe next time or maybe somebody else suits you. I don’t know.

Take care. Peace out from the Zen Goddess.
