01/17/14: Heart-Centered / Knight of Cups

Knight CupsTo give our dailies a wallop of fresh energy, I decided to pair them with draws from the Deck of 1000 Spreads for several days as an experiment. I did not pre-select the positional definition cards, always preferring to trust I’ll get what I need. I always seem to.

The Knight of Cups rode in to save the day, pointing the way towards “Success.”

Tune in to heart energy, and live directly from your heart energy to succeed in your endeavors. I’d even go so far as to say that remaining fully in touch with your feelings could be one definition of success here.

Especially when we’re hurt, it’s easy to start shutting down the heart channel to limit pain. It seems better not to feel at all than to feel so much hurt. And we do have to shut down stimuli at times to keep from getting overwhelmed. But we don’t want that channel closed for long.

Act from a loving, compassionate place as much as possible, even if—or especially if—you have to handle a hard, hurtful, or otherwise delicate situation. You can set boundaries, make demands, or cut off abusive relationships from this place as well as offering hugs and kisses. It’s harder, but by the time you’re done, you’ll have no question your best.

The idea is that no matter what you feel the need to do or say, you don’t lose touch with your heart.

Do you have trouble staying in a heart-centered place under fire?

09/09/13: Flat Flattery / Knight of Cups Rx

Reversed Knight of Cups

I’m seeing this Knight of Cups today as a playa who ain’t as smooth as he (or she) believes. Hook and line may drop, but not the sinker!

This fellow thinks he’s mapped the road to the promised land via liberally applying champagne to his campaign. But those cups are turned upside down. She may enjoy her drink, but there is not enough booze in the bottle to get Mr. Smooth Operator past second base. He just hasn’t figured it out yet.

Flattery goes flat quickly today. For your part, be honest about who you really are and what you really want. People (that count) respect you for it.

And if you’ve got a Mr. or Ms. Smooth Operator pouring it on thick in hopes of taking a shortcut to your approval, you’re safe to acknowledge it for what it is. You can finish the offered drink or not.

Just don’t doubt yourself.

How do you usually respond to flat flattery?

09/04/13: Saying “No” to the drunk dial! / Reversed Knight of Cups

knight-of-cups-reversed-tarot

The reversed Knight of Cups often makes me think of being drunk: you may THINK you know what you’re saying, but…well, the next morning you can feel all “Big Shot” by Billy Joel. (Not that I’m showing my age or anything…ha!)

I’d not go getting all obsessive about though. Obsession is the root of many a drunk dial, you know? And drunk dialing never solves anything, my friends, be it literal or metaphorical dialing.

In short, get the emotional state clarified and stabilized before you try to act thereupon. There may be a blurty/gushy sort of compulsion over feelings that were not being openly acknowledged. Great to foster self-awareness; not so great to dump a half-cooked emotional stew into somebody else’s lap. That’s messy and can lead to embarrassment all around.

Meditation, journaling, exercise, artwork or even a damn nap may allow the subconscious to finish cooking. If you have a trusted confidant to help you sort things out, fair enough. But don’t be in too big of a hurry to ditch the emotional waves. There’s a lot to be said for coming to terms with your feelings before ridding yourself of them. They don’t appear in a vacuum. You want to understand and address the circumstances and thought processes that put you where you are before you rush out to be somewhere else, ya know?

And if you get incoming, don’t take it too seriously. Everybody occasionally offloads. Letting it pass with grace will earn mighty Karma points.

06/11/12: Ditching Drama / Knight Cups, 4 Cups, Page Swords

knight-cups-4-cups-page-swords

One of the things I dig about the Transparent Tarot is how it seems to hand out such fluid, clear messages…here it’s the Knight of Cups, Four of Cups and Page of Swords talking.

Emotionality (and maybe a teensy penchant for drama) may be getting things carried away and leading to unnecessary dissatisfaction. Seek clarity and rationality to break free.

05/09/13: Emotional Geyser / rev Knight of Cups

rev-knight-cups-tarot-meaning

Soooo….Yesterday, we were looking at suppressed emotion. This reversed Knight of Cups suggests emotion that’s definitely surfaced, and probably chaotic and ill-managed to boot. And yeah, we’ve seen this card VERY recently. Different draws, different days but same weather advisory.

My advice for this kind of energy is pretty standard: if you sense a blowup coming your way, duck!

Aside/energy tip: Here, I do mean physically get yourself out of alignment with anyone who is losing it; do not face them directly. Angle your body away and either cross your arms or cover your solar plexus area with your hand to blunt the emotional impact of the energy that’s shooting out.

If it’s your blowup, don’t aim it indiscriminately or there will be Hell to pay over it. And if’ it’s aimed at you, it way ain’t personal!

Here’s hoping you have NO idea what I’m talking about. Do you?!

05/05/13: Self-Righteous Drunk / rev Knight Cups

knight-cups

Knights are sometimes unpredictable members of the Tarot court, other than being strongly representative of the thoughts and ideals of their respective suits. Knights tend to be extremist, all-or-nothing expressions of an idealized interpretation of the suits energy. An inverted Knight of Cups is even less stable and more impulsive because he’s over-emotional, prone to mood swings and outbursts.

He’s about as predictable as a drunken teenager. And self-righteous? Televangelists have nothing on this guy!

If you’re dealing with the inverted Knight of Cups type, don’t expect him to keep his word (or even remember those words in the morning), although it may be true that he means what he says at the time. But his superpower is emotionally driven rationalization, and what’s true for him today may not hold the same sway tomorrow.

If you ARE this guy, you’d be well advised to shut up and sober up before making any grand declarations you cannot easily take back. Those hangovers can be a son-of-a-bitch, you know?

Are you feeling the Knight of Cups waves?
