Queen of Swords: Focusing on What?

So, I got my project wrapped up. I expected it to take me about 2 or 3 days. Instead, it took two weeks of very intense attention. I pulled some long work days and just wrapped it up late Thursday night.

Now, I was less-than-enchanted with the entire endeavor, until I realized something very relevant: the end result was completely worth the trouble. There were a number of issues that went awry and each one I fixed in turn. This back and forth, catalyzed by what I didn’t want really made a difference in what I got in the end. I would not have touched any of the side issues had they not broken. So yes, there was plenty of cussing and frustration. Yes, I could have finished in a couple of days if everything had gone the way I’d planned. And yes, the finished product would have been inferior had it gone the way I’d planned.

Looking at it that way makes me glad so much stuff broke! A legitimate bright side right there, front and center. If you can find one, I always urge you to adopt the bright side. It pays off.

Aside: Thanks to those who wished me well with the stuff I have been working on last week, either directly or in your heart. I know you’re sending me your goodwill and I do appreciate it very much. ♥ An especially bright side for me.

This next week, I’d encourage you to keep looking for your own bright side and keep that vision central when you’re making decisions and taking action.

Next Week in Tarot

Queen of Swords: Focusing on What? 1

The overall outlook is represented by the Queen of Swords with advice coming in from the Knight of Swords from the gorgeous Star Tarot Deck. Now, seeing this duo, right away I know, words will be flying over the next week. Not much of a surprise, huh? Words are already flying. But I’ve got more than obvious observations to share here.

This Queen is clear, focused and discriminating. There is (and will be) plenty going on. That doesn’t mean she (or we) need to digest all of it. That’s a surefire recipe for an upset stomach! What you don’t want provides the most value in spurring you towards what you DO want. So acknowledge it and then move forward. The queen focuses on her goals and anything that doesn’t contribute to those goals gets discarded. That’s a very effective approach.

What topic of focus is most in line with your values and intentions? Problems serve a purpose: they help identify areas of improvement and that’s where we want the greatest bulk of our energy to go.

What serves your greater purposes? THAT is where to direct your attention. This is a big world and we have lots of choice on how we spend our energy. Anything else is just a distraction. And if there’s one thing the Queen of Swords will not abide, it’s distraction.

The Knight would advise us to convey our ideas and messages with clarity. Dix would advise you to be mindful of tact, but not everybody listens to her. Har!

Thing is, if communication is especially sharp, critical or loud (whether or not you consider it accurate), anyone who does not agree already will tune it out. Factor your goals into your overall approach. If your goal is only to be heard, volume will suffice. On the other hand, if your goal is to inform, persuade or otherwise influence…well, doing so from a connected place will give you far more power than any other approach.

In other words, keep your head clear this coming week. When you see something you perceive as wrong, you can let it be discouragement to you or of service to you. The choice is yours.

What are you focused on?

Give me a holler for a personal visit if you want a little realignment.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17

Roughly 99% of the stuff I’ve spent much of my life worrying over hasn’t come to pass. I think that means I’m a mother.

And that which has come to pass? My worrying didn’t somehow prepare me to cope better. It just amped up the unpleasantness.

So now? I ease myself a step back any time I notice I’m starting to spiral into a worry-fest, whether the focus is personal or more global. Because it’s all the same. Experiencing disasters in my head is practicing disaster and knocking me off my center. It does no good and it feels rotten, which is my first and biggest clue it’s not a good idea.

These days, I look to expect better and screw what’s “realistic.”

I’m noticing a theme here for the last few forecasts. Or maybe, it’s a mostly a theme in my head, in my life. But I’m finding myself repeatedly drawn to taking a step back and a deep breath. Centering back to the self. Step back and center, step back and center. Taking what’s useful and ignoring everything else.

It’s a silly little thing, true, and honestly much easier to say than it is to do. But if you make this a practice–that’s another theme in my head, practice, consistency, repetition–but if you make this a practice, what you find is that you’re more at peace than you were before.

It’s the difference between trying to solve someone’s problems in your head, then offering and advocating for your solution, then worrying about whether or not your solution will be properly implemented or at all…OR offering the support of believing in the individual’s ability to make their own choices, live their own life, and resolve their own problems.

What you do most often is what shapes your day-to-day existence. And for me? I want peace, support, love and an easy sense of calm to shape my world. So let’s get specific and see how we do that for next week.

Day-by-day forecast taken directly from the video above.

Okay, one thing really, really notable about these cards, is that all except one of them are inverted.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17 2

A crappy picture of next week’s cards.

Ohhhhh.

Now, I don’t read inverted cards as the opposite of the traditional meaning. I usually read it as having the same energy, but not freely expressing. However, when I have a week full of inverted cards, I know it’s probably not gonna be a super comfortable, easy ride. Just so you know.

So, with that having been said, let’s just kinda hop right in here, and see what we’ve got.

It, looks like an emotional week.

Monday is the Page of Cups reversed. Potential for emotional overreaction. Where people wear their feelings on their sleeves. Or are otherwise just easily upset, maybe even including you.

So, space. Space, okay? Everybody needs lots of space. And extra downtime.

Naps. Naps are good. Naps are your friend.

So Monday might be a little edgey. Sorry. What are you gonna do?

Tuesday, the Knight of Swords reversed. Knights, especially inverted knights, have a tendency to be impulsive. In the suit of Swords, reversed again, there’s potential for impulsive words or blurting or harsh kind of sharp or critical language.

So be aware of that. And I hope you’re not on the receiving end. Do what you can not to be on the giving end, ok? ‘Cause these kind of words, a lot of times, there’s a hangover.

Just so you know.

And Happy Valentine’s Day. HAHAHA!

Wednesday, we have the Two of Cups, which is lovely card, inverted, which I would prefer to see it upright, but still to me this is the beginnings of a little bit more harmony or a little bit more connection, or at least the potential for it coming in the week. So, not everything is in harmony. The basic points are actually in agreement, but you might not notice you’re busy fighting. You take what you can get, right?

Thursday, I have the Queen of Swords and I have her upright. Now, I want to tell you to be fair. Be clear. And filter! Not just filter your mouth, although I’m never going to advise against that. I’ll be honest!

But listen to the facts, not how they’re presented. Listen to the message or the intention, not whether or not you agree. In other words, take what information, take what understanding, needed, that you want, that is useful, that is helpful, that forwards things along and discard the rest!

If somebody uses an insensitive word or is not particularly thoughtful about how they express themselves or whatever, the Queen of Swords just ignores, ignores, ignores. She does not respond to anything she doesn’t like or she doesn’t need or doesn’t want. So that’s what we’ve got and that will really, really help you on Thursday.

And probably before and after Thursday a little.

Friday, it’s the Seven of Pentacles, which is another generally speaking positive card, reversed. Now in this case, it feels like what you do doesn’t matter. I’m not going to say that’s true, or overall or in this case for that matter. But that’s kind of the feeling that I’ve got going on. Thursday. To deal with that, I have the Two of Wands reversed.

And what I want to say in that regard is don’t push back. Just back up, back up, back up; in fact, I’m seeing a car, backing out of a parking space. Backing up don’t get, stuck, solidified. You know. It…don’t get in a place that is not…don’t put yourself in a corner. Just kind of back up, easy does it, easy does it, that’s kind of the vibe I’m wanting for the whole week!

Saturday, the Emperor reversed. When I see this, a lot of times there are control freak issues. So control yourself, not the other. Whatever that’s worth. And people might be trying to control you. And, I mean, you know what to do with that.

You smile, and you say, “Thank you so much for your caring and concern for me. I really, really appreciate that. And I will take everything you have to say under advisement.”

In other words, I’m going to do exactly what I want to do, but I want to acknowledge you in a positive way that you can’t really argue with. Mmmm! Problem solved.

Okay. Sunday, I’ve got the Four of Swords. But it’s shown up reversed. Now, the Four of Swords in general is a card of rest or relaxation. Having it reversed on Sunday makes me think, hmmm. Maybe there’s some last minute details that need to be attended to. Check Sunday. On my clarification, I got Strength. But check Sunday, and see if there’s any follow through or anything that’s gotten missed or just kind of slid on by that you could stand to deal with, okay? Before the week gets started.

Overview/Advice: The Five of Swords reversed. [Note: I  missed covering this in the video.]

No need to take score or decide what is right and what it wrong. It’s superfluous. You can evaluate for YOURSELF, your own experience and life, what you want there and what you don’t. But there is no reason to compare that to anything else to decide what is better and worse. You “win” here by not caring who wins, instead just directing your own experience.

Our affirmation here, we’ve got, “Everything I touch is a success!”

And the back of it says, “I now establish a new awareness of success. I know I can be as successful as I make up my mind to be. I can move into the winning circle.”

At first, I thought it said, I could move into Wyoming. Why, is Wyoming special?

“Golden opportunities are everywhere for me. Prosperity of every kind is drawn to me.”

Whether you’re into these kind of affirmations or not, people have really big tendency to acknowledge what goes wrong and dismiss what goes right. At least in their conversation, so I’m assuming we’re doing it in our heads as well.

And I say to you, how about acknowledging what goes right and ignoring what goes wrong? Maybe a simple concept, maybe revolutionary. Depends.

I’m seeing water, a huge body of water. And like being in a big body of water, you don’t want to try and fight the tide. You want to relax into the flow, and then kind of paddle the direction that you’re looking for. That’s the mental image, imagery that I’m getting. In other words, you try to fight the tide in the coming week, you’re going to drown in it. If you ride it, then when it’s calm enough, edge towards the direction you want to go, and you’re going to be a lot more successful. So light touch next week.

Don’t fight yourself, the tide or anybody else. Just take your time. Slow and steady.

Glorious Singularity: Tarot, Oct 24 – 30, 2016

The last several weeks, I’m seeing a theme in the forecasts–or maybe? The theme is in my head, my experience. But either way, it’s a valid theme.

[bctt tweet=”Focus on your own life and let others live theirs. #OnMyRadar ” username=”goddess_dix”]

Even if you think the others are crazy or stupid or deluded or clueless or careless or just out-and-out wrong. Be YOU, regardless of what others are being or doing.

I’m beginning to think, this message is why I’m here. My intention for this incarnation, is to spread the message of following your own path without judging or pushing against anybody else’s path.

Why else would I be so gloriously and singularly weird, spending so much of my time hoping to inspire others to be true to their own glorious singularity?

Sometimes we think the world would be better if everybody agreed with us. But that’s not true. The diversity–including the bits we don’t like–make for a much richer experience. Even the ugliness inspires desire for better. Everything inspires desire for better.

Our job is not to get others to conform. Our job is not to conform. Our job is to be true to ourselves, singularly. And that is more than enough. It’s glorious.

Audio Version of the Weeks Forecast

The Zombie Tarot deck loves repeats. Zombies like to shuffle. Get it?

Funny but true.

Lots of Court Cards this week, which tells us personalities will play a big role in events. A fair number of reversals–some of the expressions of personality that have impact will not be conscious behavior. There is still a lot of delusion, lies, and harsh words out there but it’s not too hard to dodge. Just pay attention to yourself and you bypass 98% of the BS and feel better in the process. Also understand, we definitely are ending the week on a high note. So traveling on the high road pays off!

Monday, Queen of Swords Rx: Be aware of your words. Don’t be in a hurry to cut someone off–in traffic, in words, in deeds, from your life, whatever. Take your time. The Queen of Swords cuts ties swiftly in general. Reversed, she can be a bit hasty. So if you’re getting the urge. set it aside for a minute. Put it on the back burner and wait, okay?

Tuesday, Seven of Pentacles Rx: This energy feels impatient, just like yesterday. All things are developing over time as appropriate. Just chill. Just because you cannot see all the progress doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Take a chill pill and all will be well.

Wednesday, Seven of Cups: The world should go home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html. It’s drunk. Confused. There’s an irrationality going around. Don’t buy into it–or fight against it, which is a lesser-known way of buying into it. And don’t go drink without a designated driver. Don’t try to fight the distortion. Let it roll over you and pass on by. This really works best. You cannot fight waves, but you can be solid and let them wash over you or you can float atop them. Those that bend will not break.

Thursday, Death: Yesterday’s distortion and upheaval from earlier this week (and before) will come to a culmination. Rotten, the not right, will be exposed. The jig is up! I don’t know what jig we’re talking. But it’s up anywho! On an individual level–stick to what you know and don’t try to control others. Just let it be.

Friday, Knight of Pentacles: Attend to the details and be meticulous. Focus on you, let your neighbors do whatever they are doing. Care for your OWN details and leave the rest.

Saturday, Knight of Swords Rx: Don’t blurt angry words, even if you have to stuff your mouth with Fritos to avoid it. Be kind with your words! The world needs kindness, you need kindness, and it just feels better for everybody.

Sunday, Six of Wands: Love wins. Kindness wins. Joy wins. All the love you’ve planted earlier this week blooms like a beautiful garden. This is an awesome day so enjoy it!

Overview/Advice, King of Pentacles Rx: Don’t try to clean up your neighbors yard or fix anybody else’s issues. Focus this week, eyes on your on paper, clean up your own room, tidy up your own life. Looking for other people’s problems is a fancy way of avoiding your own life. Stay in your own lane, keep your own house in order and let other people handle theirs. You have enough resources for yourself. Use them for yourself.

Affirmation: I am safe in the Universe. All life loves and supports me. It really IS all right. Some of what people are upset and freaking out about? It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. Yes, there are jerks out there but life is okay. All will be fine!

Take care, stay clear, be happy! Are you feeling your glorious singularity?

Precise Shot – Tarot October 10 – 16, 2016

My husband and I play Dungeons and Dragons on the computer together.

Some of the projectile weapons in the game have an enhancement called “Precise Shot.” That means the shot hits only who it’s aimed at. No collateral damage.

It’s the kind of thing you may not think about, before you run into that. But not hitting anybody but who you’re aiming at often has a lot of advantages.

That would be handy in real life.

This coming week? We could use some precise shot on our words.

weekly tarot forecast

Lots of Swords, so be aware of communications, potential for ouch factor. Contention may be a thing. Sharp assessments and sharp words. So watch your words! And don’t take sharp words from others to heart.

[bctt tweet=”Mud aimed AT you is never ABOUT you. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

Monday, Eight of Pentacles: Just keep pluggin’ and do your thing. Think progress, not completion. One step at a time. A little here, a little more, a little more is how it gets done so keep hammering, slow and sure.

Tuesday, Wheel of Fortune rx:  What seems like a bad break may not be. Go with the flow and accept both what looks good and what looks not good as just part of the cycle. Don’t fixate on a single situation thinking it must work out a certain way for your world to feel “okay.” Understand this is the way the world flows. Just roll with it, man.

Wednesday, Four of Swords: It’s okay to take a breather. The world will not implode if you take the night off. Plan some recoup time today and it will serve you well.

Thursday, Queen of Swords: Be judicious with your words and be very clear. Carefully chosen words will keep you from implying more than you mean to say. Don’t script for others. But to make your words most effective, be sparing with them. That will help you reach your objectives.

Friday, Seven of Pentacles: Recognize where you are in the bigger cycle. The progress you’ve been making adds up and factors are lining up. We’re at a waiting phase, while seeds gestate.

Saturday, Knight of Swords rx: Tendency to blurt, speak impulsive. Understand people may be over communicative in a number of ways, so be ready to step back to keep yourself centered. Not a great day for signing contracts so don’t be in a hurry. Let it rest before finalizing.

Sunday, King of Swords rx: Let the dust settle before diving into action.  May have urges to “do something” but you’d be better advise to go slow and easy.

Overview/Advice, Three of Wands: The week in general feels like there’s a lot of gestation, n0t culmination. So be patient, with yourself and circumstances. Continue to expect things to work out fine and they are, so long as you stay out of the way. Staying out of the way is your job right now.

Affirmation: Everything I touch is a success. While it may not initially feel this way, you can see success if you take a longer view. If you see yourself as here for the experience, the learning and the joy, then everything you look at will show itself in that context. Even if the experience is very negative, it can still contribute to your success in many ways. Just like someone coming out of a bad relationship is more focused than ever on having a better relationship the next time around (and value it much more as well).

“I am where I am. It’s fine where I’m am. I’m doing what I need to be and I’m learning what I need to be learning. All is well.”

That attitude will serve you well. Take your time. Don’t be in a hurry to respond or fight. Step back, take care of yourself and take your time. That will move you through the week intact and you’ll be pleased to realize you’ve made some progress even if it didn’t feel like it at the time.

Are your words landing the way you’ve meant?

Faith Through the Hills: Weekly Tarot, Aug 29 – Sep 4

When I was a kid, there were certain back roads we went down sometimes, that had big hills. And mom would sometimes drive these roads, way faster than she probably should have. And it my tummy would drop, like being on a roller coaster ride.

I laughed and laughed and laughed. And there was nothing I loved better than when we got to drive on one of those hilly backroads.

I loved it even more than when we sang “Row Your Boat” rounds in the car and would get confused and laugh all over the verses.

For some people, the way we rode those roads wouldn’t have been fun. It would have been terrifying or upsetting.

But it never was for me. I had complete faith in my mom. I knew it was all okay. Never entered my mind it would be anything but. So I got to fully experience the joy of how it felt.

Faith is a beautiful thing.

Note to self: Clean rug before using the good camera.

Note to self: Clean rug before using the good camera.

Faith will serve you well in the week ahead. A lot of this week has kind of a slow-motion feel to it. That makes sense as we’re hitting full on Mercury Rx. And Mercury has been showing his butt some even during the shadow leading up to it, so it looks like this one might be a little ride (Aug 30 – Sep 22).

But it’s okay. Really, it’s okay.

Because you know what? What the ride is like is never about the condition of the road. It’s always about the emotional state of the rider. Those bumps and potholes are always gonna be there. They can be either annoying and scary or exciting and fun, depending on where you are vibrating at when you hit ’em.

Have faith and have fun.

Monday, The Emperor: Stay in your own lane and watch the road. The Emperor is about control, but to me? His strongest position of control is always that of self-control. What other people are doing is of less interest than what he wants, what he’s doing, and where he’s going. Nothing gets him to lose sight of his goals.

Tuesday, Ace of Pentacles: One step at a time, one item off the checklist at a time. A great day to enjoy nature or physical pleasures like good food or yes, sex.

Wednesday, Six of Cups Rx: A little uneasiness around other people’s words. Who is trustworthy? You don’t have to figure it out on the spot. Time will sort it out. You just remain rooted in what you know to be.

Thursday, The Hermit Rx: Don’t take another’s word for reality. You don’t have to isolate–in fact, I would suggest you don’t. But everything, everything, everything you need to measure according to your own yardstick.

Friday, The Fool: Have some fun for God’s sakes!

[bctt tweet=”Fun isn’t where you’re at or what you’re doing. Fun is all attitude. #OnMyRadar ” username=”goddess_dix”]

Saturday, Knight of Swords Rx: If somebody says something that rubs you the wrong way, let it roll off your back. Don’t worry or overthink it. Distract yourself!

Sunday, Ace of Cups Rx: Emotional replenishment time today. You may be a little low on the emotional energy. If you are, it’s going around. Be gentle with yourself. Schedule light and make room for fun. You’ll soon feel better.

Overview/Advice, Six of Pentacles: Pace yourself, and budget your energy. Generosity is awesome, but the most important kind of generosity is that of the spirit.

Affirmation: Bat. The bat symbolizes a rebirthing process. Hello, caves!

Stay in your Own Lane: Weekly Tarot, July 11 – 17

There’s been more than “an edge” to the energetic weather in the last week. People are tired, hurting and upset. And they want to DO something about it.

But so much of the time, we feel powerless. And if we’re trying to change others? By and large, we are. At least, we can’t change other people by ramming them, head-on and full force, with the full blast of our own worldview. Nobody’s looking for your worldview. They already have their own. So what’s left?

Changes are made on an individual level, when an individual in interested and receptive to change. It cannot be forced very well. It’s when enough individuals change that a tipping point happens in the collective and societies change, the world changes.

Stay in your own lane. BE the change you want to see. Envision it, FEEL it, and focus upon it. When you do that, you embody that change.

I don’t mean to suggest you focus upon what’s wrong. That amplifies the wrong.

You are the most powerful when you’re aligned with source energy. And you’re most aligned with source energy when you feel good. And you feel good when you’re focused upon what’s pleasing to you, generating the feeling state of what you want.

Can you feel good when there is so much chaos and sadness and hurt in the world?

Yes, you can! It takes practice. It takes caring about how you feel. It takes going out of your way to add into the world what you want to see.

You want to see more unity and harmony? Don’t lecture it. LIVE IT. You want to see compassion and love and helpfulness? Be that, and you’ll start seeing it more and more. And better yet, your good intentions rub off on those around you. And theirs rub off. And so on.

Kindness and love are never wasted. So realize that YOURS counts and spend them liberally.

forecast

This week’s forecast has several inverted cards – I expect a feeling of being “off” or otherwise out of sorts to easily sneak upon us this week. Staying on top of your own feeling state and always reaching for what feels better from where you are at is the perfect remedy for this. Distractions, stepping back to find things to appreciate about every part of your day, and relentless self-care are great remedies. Be kind to yourselves out there!

Monday, The Hierophant: Don’t cut corners or look to innovate right now. It’s a bit much for what we’ve got going. Tried and true, traditional, and consulting with the experienced professional leads to the best results. Respecting institutions and what they represent is in order. It’s a day to color inside the lines as much as possible.

Tuesday, Knight of Swords Rx: Be on the lookout for crossed wires or people jumping the gun without adequate information. Put your “Jumping to Conclusions” mat away, for the love of God! There’s no point trying to communicate important messages when the recipient is not in a receptive mode. Focus looks a little shaky today to me, so utilize distraction to your advantage. Distract yourself from anything you don’t like!

Wednesday, Three of Pentacles Rx: Flexibility and willingness to surrender to the flow of what happens, not what you thought would happen, nets the best outcome. Working independently where possible is favored. Ever heard the phrase “death by committee?” Consensus may be elusive but that doesn’t mean you cannot sit firm in clarity. It just suggests make progress on your plans before you consider bringing others into the fold.

Thursday, The Emperor: Stand your ground and remain in control of yourself! Do what you feel best about, without waver or apology. The control the Emperor calls for is self-control. Don’t invest in swaying the world, nor in being swayed by the world. Stand firm, tall, grounded in your own knowingness.

Friday, Page of Pentacles Rx: This is coming across to me as a feeling of being tired, worn out from the week and weary. Self-care, naps, good food and quieter, comforting activities are good choices. Look to replenish your physical body and with it, your emotions and outlook also respond positively.

Saturday, Justice Rx: If you focus on injustices–either in the world or in your own life–it nets a headache and not a lot more. Use this day instead to regain your own balance and equilibrium. Feed your spirit with the facts that support the worldview you want to be a part of growing.

[bctt tweet=”There are an infinite number of facts. The ones we focus on, grow. #OnMyRadar #LOA” username=”goddess_dix”]

Sunday, The Fool: Have fun today! Carefree and silly. Great time to try something new or go on an adventure. Hint: It’s the attitude that creates adventure, not the activity.

Overview/Advice, Eight of Swords: Maybe you feel stuck. But the “stuckness” is not so much the outside circumstance as it is how you are perceiving the outside circumstance. To find more options, look around you without the running “fear chatter” in your head. Play what-if with a twist: only pleasing outcomes are allowed.

Affirmation, King of Cups: What an awesome affirmation prompt! Some started ideas for you…I am love. I am generous. My good feeling uplifts everyone. I act from a place of peace. Compassion drives my life. My emotions are my strength. I feel my way to right. I appreciate. Joy fills my heart. Love rules all.
