Five of Swords: When You Don’t Get It

“I just don’t get it.”

That’s a phrase I’ve been saying a lot lately. I suspect I’m not alone.

Instead of succumbing to the urge to fight whatever “it” I just don’t get, I’m taking a little detour. I’m seeking a better understanding of whatever it is that I don’t get.

Now, this may not be the route for everyone. But it’s been helpful for me. You’ll get your own chance to decide what’s best for yourself coming up.

Next Week in Tarot

The forecast is the Five of Swords–ugh. Advice is once again the Knight of Swords.

The Five of Swords pretty much always signals conflict. Sometimes internal, sometimes external, but no matter what, this card heralds incoming battles. No surprise here.

The images on this rendition notably emphasize the feelings involved, with so many swords cutting through hearts. The central cross and star visually suggests self-righteousness to me.

People are very likely to feel like their personal cause is holy and sacred. Ironically, they may have powerful enough emotions about that cause to remain convinced nobody else’s feelings are relevant.

We’ve been seeing an abundance of Swords lately, which isn’t super surprising considering the state of the world right. Insofar as advice goes, embodying the principles you want to promote remains a valid prescription for honoring the Knight of Swords. Meticulous integrity is certainly a great way to follow his lead.

But there are many ways to express the energy of Air, the Sword’s element. We could go with reason, intellectualism, emotional distancing, discrimination or elimination. We could become more dispassionate or  “cut away” something that doesn’t serve. There are a plethora of choices here.

Recently, I’ve been leaning into the Swords’ spirit of investigation and curiosity. I’m not seeking pockets of agreement so much as I’m looking for clarity and a better understanding. I’m looking to “get it,” not so much judge it.  I am convinced the better I understand what I’m seeing, the easier it is for me to moderate emotional responses to it.

This coming week, expect conflict to continue unabated. This could refer to either personal or collective conflict or maybe both. I’m sorry about that. I know many are tired.

For your part, seek ways to utilize the Knight of Swords’ energy. You can become a personal example of  principles you revere.  You can emotionally distance, occupying your mind with other things You can look to better understand viewpoints that diverge from your own. Or you can jump right into the fray. I don’t choose that one because it doesn’t feel good to me. But I’m not going to tell others what to do, tempted as I may sometimes be.

Good luck out there, friends.

Justice: Just Live It

I’ve noticed a rather infuriating phenomena: when I get an all-but-overwhelming urge to set somebody straight, if I step back and take a deep breath, I realize that doing so would generally make me guilty of exactly whatever I’m fired up to criticize.

I usually manage to catch myself, which is good! Hypocrisy is not a good look. I can’t very well go on saying “it all starts and ends in the mirror” day and and day out without holding myself to the same standard, after all.

I don’t think it’s just me, either. If you’re emotionally distanced enough from the topic of a debate, you can observe this dynamic over and over again. It difficult to spot where you have heavy emotional investment. But try observing debates on issues where you have some detachment and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.

Damn you, Law of Attraction!

Next week? I wouldn’t try to set the world right. Instead, I’d suggest personifying the reality you want to propagate.

I advocate for this “live it” approach a lot, I know. And I know not everyone agrees with me on that. So be it! As far as I’m concerned, the only way to claim your own power consistently and fully is in the choice of who you want to be. That’s all I see anybody has control over or rights too, anyway.

Maybe you’ll want to consider the idea, anyway. Next week will offer ample opportunity.

Next Week in the Cards

Forecast for this week is Justice–advice is the Knight of Swords. The cards pictured are from the Star Tarot deck.

Choices have consequences. I expect we’ll notice consequences (including the unintended kind) becoming more and more evident as the week rolls on. Bills are starting to come up for the decisions made up to this point.

So what to do individually in such an environment? The Knight of Swords advises clarity, behaving without hesitation in strict accordance with your own standards. He practices what he preaches and it he does so without hedging or excuses.

In short, he isn’t an “ends justify the means” kind of guy. In fact, this Knight is NOT all about the feelings. He favors reason, science, intellectual clarity and equality in all his dealings. If he has one standard for those he agrees with, then he is careful to apply the same standard to those he finds less enchanting. He’s nothing if not consistently fair.

It would be a very good time to make sure you’re clear about your principles and make even more sure you’re living up to them personally.

Make your actions match your words and spend your energy MOVING toward the world you want (as opposed to trying to herd others away from the world you don’t want). This may sound like semantics, but in practice it’s as different as night and day. You can either obsess over all you find wrong, or you can leave it in the dust as you move forward.

I’m moving forward. What you do, my friends, is always your call.

If you’d like to up your own clarity quotient, give me a holler for a private session. We’ll work it out together.

Knight of Swords & Queen of Pentacles Rx: Plan in Pencil

I’ve been sort of compulsively crocheting lately, utilizing little snatches of time that I carve out from my daily routine. In the morning during coffee time. My break between work and cooking dinner. In bed while watching TV.  I’m using whatever yarn I’ve already got on hand (admittedly plenty).

Crochet is very calming to me. It’s highly satisfying to complete either a square or an entire project (even when I have no end game whatsoever about what to do with the finished item). It’s meditative and clears my head.

I love the process of the creation. It feels like magic to me–literally making something out of nothing by waving my magic (crochet) wand in and out of some string. I enjoy the planning too–deciding what to make and selecting an approach to get there.

I especially like picking out what yarn to put together. Yarn choice has such a huge impact on the finished piece. Considering what yarn would compliment the texture of the stitch, or laying out colors next to one another to contemplate their potential marriage makes me feel like an artist.

It pleases me tremendously, and the whole point of the activity is being pleased. Even if I didn’t enjoy the planning, I’d still need to do it, though. Since I’m using my existing yarn stash, some planning is necessary to get an finsihed project I like.

But sometimes, the outcome of my planning looks absolutely nothing like what I planned! At times, it’s a better than I’d hoped for but sometimes, not so much. I may form plans all I want, but I come up with consistently better results if I’m open to amending the plan as I go.

This forecast reminds me a lot of this process.

Next Week in Tarot

Ever have on of those weeks where you thought you knew what you were doing, but it turned out nothing like you thought it would? You may consider the changes great or not so much, but you couldn’t have seen them coming. That is exactly what I’m expecting here.

For the outlook next week, it’s the Knight of Swords. Advice is the reversed Queen of Pentacles, paired with the reversed Two of Swords, all from the bright and lovely Crystal Visions Tarot.

This Knight suggests information and ideas will be freely flowing and move fast–although there may just-as-fast-moving changes in direction. Tarot Knights can often signal impulsiveness or unpredictability as well as general movement.

We’d be well-advised not to get too comfy with whatever appears to be “in progress.” Pentacles are the suit of physical manifestation, so this Queen coming in reversed says that nothing is set in stone yet. You cannot take it to the bank. So don’t get married to any approach for taking care of an issue based on what you hear early in the week. Some elements will likely remain in place, but there may be material differences from what you heard early on versus what eventually comes to pass.

There’s also the matter of that reversed Two of Swords I pulled for extra insight regarding the advice. This angel chick tells me isn’t a lot to figure out here. She’s blindfolded. So you won’t be able to see everything coming. No need to overthink–a real temptation in this environment! Instead, remain flexible and pencil in the options because they are prone to needing adjustment as the week wears on.

In other words, roll with the punches. This next week, you may have to pull out some stitches or change plans mid-project. Colors you thought would work together may not, or those you thought wouldn’t may be perfect together. None of this is necessarily a bad thing, but it can undoubtedly trample on your joy if you’re not ready to be flexible. So be flexible!

Are you feeling the need for flexibility?

If you need a little help sorting, as always you can contact me for a private consult here.

p.s. I’ve had some great messages from spirits, guides and dead folks in pre-session meditations. It wasn’t something I planned so much as something that’s developed over time, to the point some of my regulars have told me these are a highlight of their readings.

So I wanted to experiment with this. I’m thinking email sessions (with mp3 downloads) on the meditation visitors plus a simple Tarot spread looking for advice from whomever shows up. The messages in general tend to be very uplifting and encouraging, so think of it like a personal development reading.

I’m trying just a few of these to see how they work out before deciding if I want to make it an ongoing option. So if you’d like to be one of the first (maybe only) to try a Spirit Messages Reading, send  $40 via Paypal this week and we can see how it goes!

Queen of Swords: Focusing on What?

So, I got my project wrapped up. I expected it to take me about 2 or 3 days. Instead, it took two weeks of very intense attention. I pulled some long work days and just wrapped it up late Thursday night.

Now, I was less-than-enchanted with the entire endeavor, until I realized something very relevant: the end result was completely worth the trouble. There were a number of issues that went awry and each one I fixed in turn. This back and forth, catalyzed by what I didn’t want really made a difference in what I got in the end. I would not have touched any of the side issues had they not broken. So yes, there was plenty of cussing and frustration. Yes, I could have finished in a couple of days if everything had gone the way I’d planned. And yes, the finished product would have been inferior had it gone the way I’d planned.

Looking at it that way makes me glad so much stuff broke! A legitimate bright side right there, front and center. If you can find one, I always urge you to adopt the bright side. It pays off.

Aside: Thanks to those who wished me well with the stuff I have been working on last week, either directly or in your heart. I know you’re sending me your goodwill and I do appreciate it very much. ♥ An especially bright side for me.

This next week, I’d encourage you to keep looking for your own bright side and keep that vision central when you’re making decisions and taking action.

Next Week in Tarot

The overall outlook is represented by the Queen of Swords with advice coming in from the Knight of Swords from the gorgeous Star Tarot Deck. Now, seeing this duo, right away I know, words will be flying over the next week. Not much of a surprise, huh? Words are already flying. But I’ve got more than obvious observations to share here.

This Queen is clear, focused and discriminating. There is (and will be) plenty going on. That doesn’t mean she (or we) need to digest all of it. That’s a surefire recipe for an upset stomach! What you don’t want provides the most value in spurring you towards what you DO want. So acknowledge it and then move forward. The queen focuses on her goals and anything that doesn’t contribute to those goals gets discarded. That’s a very effective approach.

What topic of focus is most in line with your values and intentions? Problems serve a purpose: they help identify areas of improvement and that’s where we want the greatest bulk of our energy to go.

What serves your greater purposes? THAT is where to direct your attention. This is a big world and we have lots of choice on how we spend our energy. Anything else is just a distraction. And if there’s one thing the Queen of Swords will not abide, it’s distraction.

The Knight would advise us to convey our ideas and messages with clarity. Dix would advise you to be mindful of tact, but not everybody listens to her. Har!

Thing is, if communication is especially sharp, critical or loud (whether or not you consider it accurate), anyone who does not agree already will tune it out. Factor your goals into your overall approach. If your goal is only to be heard, volume will suffice. On the other hand, if your goal is to inform, persuade or otherwise influence…well, doing so from a connected place will give you far more power than any other approach.

In other words, keep your head clear this coming week. When you see something you perceive as wrong, you can let it be discouragement to you or of service to you. The choice is yours.

What are you focused on?

Give me a holler for a personal visit if you want a little realignment.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17

Roughly 99% of the stuff I’ve spent much of my life worrying over hasn’t come to pass. I think that means I’m a mother.

And that which has come to pass? My worrying didn’t somehow prepare me to cope better. It just amped up the unpleasantness.

So now? I ease myself a step back any time I notice I’m starting to spiral into a worry-fest, whether the focus is personal or more global. Because it’s all the same. Experiencing disasters in my head is practicing disaster and knocking me off my center. It does no good and it feels rotten, which is my first and biggest clue it’s not a good idea.

These days, I look to expect better and screw what’s “realistic.”

I’m noticing a theme here for the last few forecasts. Or maybe, it’s a mostly a theme in my head, in my life. But I’m finding myself repeatedly drawn to taking a step back and a deep breath. Centering back to the self. Step back and center, step back and center. Taking what’s useful and ignoring everything else.

It’s a silly little thing, true, and honestly much easier to say than it is to do. But if you make this a practice–that’s another theme in my head, practice, consistency, repetition–but if you make this a practice, what you find is that you’re more at peace than you were before.

It’s the difference between trying to solve someone’s problems in your head, then offering and advocating for your solution, then worrying about whether or not your solution will be properly implemented or at all…OR offering the support of believing in the individual’s ability to make their own choices, live their own life, and resolve their own problems.

What you do most often is what shapes your day-to-day existence. And for me? I want peace, support, love and an easy sense of calm to shape my world. So let’s get specific and see how we do that for next week.

Day-by-day forecast taken directly from the video above.

Okay, one thing really, really notable about these cards, is that all except one of them are inverted.

A crappy picture of next week’s cards.

Ohhhhh.

Now, I don’t read inverted cards as the opposite of the traditional meaning. I usually read it as having the same energy, but not freely expressing. However, when I have a week full of inverted cards, I know it’s probably not gonna be a super comfortable, easy ride. Just so you know.

So, with that having been said, let’s just kinda hop right in here, and see what we’ve got.

It, looks like an emotional week.

Monday is the Page of Cups reversed. Potential for emotional overreaction. Where people wear their feelings on their sleeves. Or are otherwise just easily upset, maybe even including you.

So, space. Space, okay? Everybody needs lots of space. And extra downtime.

Naps. Naps are good. Naps are your friend.

So Monday might be a little edgey. Sorry. What are you gonna do?

Tuesday, the Knight of Swords reversed. Knights, especially inverted knights, have a tendency to be impulsive. In the suit of Swords, reversed again, there’s potential for impulsive words or blurting or harsh kind of sharp or critical language.

So be aware of that. And I hope you’re not on the receiving end. Do what you can not to be on the giving end, ok? ‘Cause these kind of words, a lot of times, there’s a hangover.

Just so you know.

And Happy Valentine’s Day. HAHAHA!

Wednesday, we have the Two of Cups, which is lovely card, inverted, which I would prefer to see it upright, but still to me this is the beginnings of a little bit more harmony or a little bit more connection, or at least the potential for it coming in the week. So, not everything is in harmony. The basic points are actually in agreement, but you might not notice you’re busy fighting. You take what you can get, right?

Thursday, I have the Queen of Swords and I have her upright. Now, I want to tell you to be fair. Be clear. And filter! Not just filter your mouth, although I’m never going to advise against that. I’ll be honest!

But listen to the facts, not how they’re presented. Listen to the message or the intention, not whether or not you agree. In other words, take what information, take what understanding, needed, that you want, that is useful, that is helpful, that forwards things along and discard the rest!

If somebody uses an insensitive word or is not particularly thoughtful about how they express themselves or whatever, the Queen of Swords just ignores, ignores, ignores. She does not respond to anything she doesn’t like or she doesn’t need or doesn’t want. So that’s what we’ve got and that will really, really help you on Thursday.

And probably before and after Thursday a little.

Friday, it’s the Seven of Pentacles, which is another generally speaking positive card, reversed. Now in this case, it feels like what you do doesn’t matter. I’m not going to say that’s true, or overall or in this case for that matter. But that’s kind of the feeling that I’ve got going on. Thursday. To deal with that, I have the Two of Wands reversed.

And what I want to say in that regard is don’t push back. Just back up, back up, back up; in fact, I’m seeing a car, backing out of a parking space. Backing up don’t get, stuck, solidified. You know. It…don’t get in a place that is not…don’t put yourself in a corner. Just kind of back up, easy does it, easy does it, that’s kind of the vibe I’m wanting for the whole week!

Saturday, the Emperor reversed. When I see this, a lot of times there are control freak issues. So control yourself, not the other. Whatever that’s worth. And people might be trying to control you. And, I mean, you know what to do with that.

You smile, and you say, “Thank you so much for your caring and concern for me. I really, really appreciate that. And I will take everything you have to say under advisement.”

In other words, I’m going to do exactly what I want to do, but I want to acknowledge you in a positive way that you can’t really argue with. Mmmm! Problem solved.

Okay. Sunday, I’ve got the Four of Swords. But it’s shown up reversed. Now, the Four of Swords in general is a card of rest or relaxation. Having it reversed on Sunday makes me think, hmmm. Maybe there’s some last minute details that need to be attended to. Check Sunday. On my clarification, I got Strength. But check Sunday, and see if there’s any follow through or anything that’s gotten missed or just kind of slid on by that you could stand to deal with, okay? Before the week gets started.

Overview/Advice: The Five of Swords reversed. [Note: I  missed covering this in the video.]

No need to take score or decide what is right and what it wrong. It’s superfluous. You can evaluate for YOURSELF, your own experience and life, what you want there and what you don’t. But there is no reason to compare that to anything else to decide what is better and worse. You “win” here by not caring who wins, instead just directing your own experience.

Our affirmation here, we’ve got, “Everything I touch is a success!”

And the back of it says, “I now establish a new awareness of success. I know I can be as successful as I make up my mind to be. I can move into the winning circle.”

At first, I thought it said, I could move into Wyoming. Why, is Wyoming special?

“Golden opportunities are everywhere for me. Prosperity of every kind is drawn to me.”

Whether you’re into these kind of affirmations or not, people have really big tendency to acknowledge what goes wrong and dismiss what goes right. At least in their conversation, so I’m assuming we’re doing it in our heads as well.

And I say to you, how about acknowledging what goes right and ignoring what goes wrong? Maybe a simple concept, maybe revolutionary. Depends.

I’m seeing water, a huge body of water. And like being in a big body of water, you don’t want to try and fight the tide. You want to relax into the flow, and then kind of paddle the direction that you’re looking for. That’s the mental image, imagery that I’m getting. In other words, you try to fight the tide in the coming week, you’re going to drown in it. If you ride it, then when it’s calm enough, edge towards the direction you want to go, and you’re going to be a lot more successful. So light touch next week.

Don’t fight yourself, the tide or anybody else. Just take your time. Slow and steady.

Glorious Singularity: Tarot, Oct 24 – 30, 2016

The last several weeks, I’m seeing a theme in the forecasts–or maybe? The theme is in my head, my experience. But either way, it’s a valid theme.

[bctt tweet=”Focus on your own life and let others live theirs. #OnMyRadar ” username=”goddess_dix”]

Even if you think the others are crazy or stupid or deluded or clueless or careless or just out-and-out wrong. Be YOU, regardless of what others are being or doing.

I’m beginning to think, this message is why I’m here. My intention for this incarnation, is to spread the message of following your own path without judging or pushing against anybody else’s path.

Why else would I be so gloriously and singularly weird, spending so much of my time hoping to inspire others to be true to their own glorious singularity?

Sometimes we think the world would be better if everybody agreed with us. But that’s not true. The diversity–including the bits we don’t like–make for a much richer experience. Even the ugliness inspires desire for better. Everything inspires desire for better.

Our job is not to get others to conform. Our job is not to conform. Our job is to be true to ourselves, singularly. And that is more than enough. It’s glorious.

Audio Version of the Weeks Forecast

The Zombie Tarot deck loves repeats. Zombies like to shuffle. Get it?

Funny but true.

Lots of Court Cards this week, which tells us personalities will play a big role in events. A fair number of reversals–some of the expressions of personality that have impact will not be conscious behavior. There is still a lot of delusion, lies, and harsh words out there but it’s not too hard to dodge. Just pay attention to yourself and you bypass 98% of the BS and feel better in the process. Also understand, we definitely are ending the week on a high note. So traveling on the high road pays off!

Monday, Queen of Swords Rx: Be aware of your words. Don’t be in a hurry to cut someone off–in traffic, in words, in deeds, from your life, whatever. Take your time. The Queen of Swords cuts ties swiftly in general. Reversed, she can be a bit hasty. So if you’re getting the urge. set it aside for a minute. Put it on the back burner and wait, okay?

Tuesday, Seven of Pentacles Rx: This energy feels impatient, just like yesterday. All things are developing over time as appropriate. Just chill. Just because you cannot see all the progress doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Take a chill pill and all will be well.

Wednesday, Seven of Cups: The world should go home. It’s drunk. Confused. There’s an irrationality going around. Don’t buy into it–or fight against it, which is a lesser-known way of buying into it. And don’t go drink without a designated driver. Don’t try to fight the distortion. Let it roll over you and pass on by. This really works best. You cannot fight waves, but you can be solid and let them wash over you or you can float atop them. Those that bend will not break.

Thursday, Death: Yesterday’s distortion and upheaval from earlier this week (and before) will come to a culmination. Rotten, the not right, will be exposed. The jig is up! I don’t know what jig we’re talking. But it’s up anywho! On an individual level–stick to what you know and don’t try to control others. Just let it be.

Friday, Knight of Pentacles: Attend to the details and be meticulous. Focus on you, let your neighbors do whatever they are doing. Care for your OWN details and leave the rest.

Saturday, Knight of Swords Rx: Don’t blurt angry words, even if you have to stuff your mouth with Fritos to avoid it. Be kind with your words! The world needs kindness, you need kindness, and it just feels better for everybody.

Sunday, Six of Wands: Love wins. Kindness wins. Joy wins. All the love you’ve planted earlier this week blooms like a beautiful garden. This is an awesome day so enjoy it!

Overview/Advice, King of Pentacles Rx: Don’t try to clean up your neighbors yard or fix anybody else’s issues. Focus this week, eyes on your on paper, clean up your own room, tidy up your own life. Looking for other people’s problems is a fancy way of avoiding your own life. Stay in your own lane, keep your own house in order and let other people handle theirs. You have enough resources for yourself. Use them for yourself.

Affirmation: I am safe in the Universe. All life loves and supports me. It really IS all right. Some of what people are upset and freaking out about? It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. Yes, there are jerks out there but life is okay. All will be fine!

Take care, stay clear, be happy! Are you feeling your glorious singularity?
