Action vs. Timing: Knight of Wands Rx

We live neck deep in a culture of action. Act, act, act! Something must be done, and now!

You want to change your life? You want to impact the world?

You must push through, move forward, carry on, and MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!

And if the things aren’t happening? Well, you just need to try harder.

Bleh. And it’s all because, action is the only option people seem to respect.

What if, instead of leveraging sheer will–and trying to brute force life into acquiescing to our demands–we decided to work with the energy, first?

What if we lined up with it, got in tune with it, set our intentions and focus on what we want (as opposed to escaping the horrific fate we don’t want)?

What would that feel like?

Because let’s face it: brute force is a crapshoot at best, and it leaves you exhausted when you’re done. I won’t tell you that the force of will won’t move life’s rocks from one pile to another. It does, but it’s slow, iffy at times, and it’s a very, very hard way of going about it.

But if you can line up with the energy, first and foremost, then really? Whatever action you take will feel good, and be easy. And most of all? It will be effective.

The reversed Knight of Wands here is impulsive and ill-timed action. Action taken from a place of fear, to avoid disaster, or from a place of anger, to push an agenda (however well-meaning). It’s an attempt to brute force life circumstances into unwilling submission and it’s marginally effective at best.

This week? Okay, all the time. But especially this week? Wait until you FEEL the momentum and feel the inspiration and can take your action with a confidence, a knowing that it’s the thing to do and the time to do it. THAT action? It will serve you very well.

Video Transcript

Hi. This is Dixie from A Fool’s Journey dot com. Here with some weekly thoughts for ya. Hang on.

Hey, thanks for hanging in. I am doing another quickie, lazy I’m-not-gonna-set-up-my-video-equipment video on my cell phone. So, let’s see what we’re looking at for the week.

Okay. I’ve got the Knight of Wands reversed. And what I want to say about this is, you don’t have to move right now.

Okay. Sometimes there’s like, an urge, or um, almost a compulsion to answer that email, to make the phone call, to tell somebody, you know, to give somebody what-for. To intervene, or act or whatever.

And here, I want to recommend that you hold back until the action is obvious. If you can avoid acting from a place where you’re stressed out and you’re trying to fix a big problem and you’re oh-my-Gosh, I just hope this works! And that kind of stuff? Your outcome will tend to be better.

Because you bring a whole different type of energy to it. If you’re kind of chill about it. You know when the action is right. And try to bring the emotional energy that you want for the final outcome to the action and you’ll be a whole lot more successful.

So that’s this week’s look at what’s on my radar. Hope it’s helpful to you. Take care, peace out. Ommmmm! Talk to you later. Bye bye.

Do you rely on action or energy or the combination of the two?

This week features the Radiant Rider Waite (again) and if you dig the forecasts, you’d probably dig the Everyday Tarot Archives book. Or just book Dix.

Only Now. (Weekly Tarot)

I’m experimenting with format for the Everyday Tarot. Nothing to worry over, if you’re inclined to extrapolate. I’m well! (You know who you are.)

Right now, I’m more looking to ride the wave incoming, and (hopefully) help translate it for you.

And I just pulled a few cards for me. I had a question. But as soon as I saw them, I knew they wanted to speak to you, too.

Only Now. (Weekly Tarot) 1

The Ace of Swords is clarity and focus. It’s a single, undiluted idea. It’s a beginning of a beginning. With this Ace, the idea will always be good but it’s far from complete, and you never know how far it will go. Which honestly (as this Ace demands), that’s a lot of the excitement of any new idea. It’s fun to watch them grow up!

And the Six of Cups is trust–a childhood trust, uncomplicated. It’s a gift, for no other purpose than pleasure. This card brings the gift of being in the moment. Those children aren’t worrying about yesterday or next week. They’re not asking, “How, how, how, will the world will sort itself out?!?” They are sharing a moment. The moment. The only moment any of us have. Now.

NOW is the only moment there is. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Behind them lies a castle: they are well provided for.  There are many beautiful flowers–blessings. In Cups–the heart. It’s a beautiful place to be.

Simple, unadulterated optimism. Expecting and accepting all is well. Appreciation without qualification. Being present in the moment. Knowing you’ll know what you need to know, as you need to know it. This is how you plug into the flow, where it feels good and you remain connected to your great knowings.

And the outcome? That’s the Knight of Wands.  He’s going places, and fast! He’s having fun, creating and building a life he loves. This guy? He’s having a good time.

I want to take a ride like that. How about you?

This week’s forecast featured themini Radiant Rider Waite because Dixie is lazy and it was already out of the Tarot bin. Also, it is a great working deck who speaks very clearly. Shoot me an email if you want to see what that (or another) deck have to say to you.

Mine Vs. Yours: Weekly Tarot, Mar 6 – 12, 2017

The grocery checker looked me up and down.

Are my pants irking her?

Some people don’t approve of fuzzy pants at the grocery. What harm they see in it, I have no clue. It’s not a funeral, for Godssakes. Am I disrespecting the broccoli? I just want some coffee creamer and chocolate-something. Should I have to change clothes for that?

Mine Vs. Yours: Weekly Tarot, Mar 6 - 12, 2017 2

I think not, but you probably guessed as much. Besides. The world needs more color and I’m doing my part.

Doesn’t matter if she likes my pants or not. I’m in her line. So be it.

“I just love your hair!” she says, when it’s my turn up. Oh.

Now, I don’t worry so much about what people think any more–a blessing of age. But there was a time, once upon a self-conscious phase ago, when I chastised myself for wanting to wear fuzzy pants everywhere.

“You just need to grow up!” I’d say sternly inside my head.

“What kind of a person lives their lives in fuzzy pants?” Of course the answer to that is easy enough. The kind of person who really likes fuzzy pants!

My job is to decide what pants suit me that day, and wear them.  Not to bother about outside reaction to the pants. That checking other faces instead of hitting up the mirror is what trips us up.

Soon as you look outside yourself to see how you're doing, you've lost the plot. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

This coming week is a lot like that.

Daily Bullet Points

It ain’t touchy-feeling this week, folks. But it doesn’t have to be scratchy-ouchie, either. Up to you, to play the cards as they come.

  • Monday, Eight of Swords. Limitations are self-imposed. In the context of having “scripts,” know people may not play their prescribed roles. Focus on just your own role instead for better outcome.
  • Tuesday, Eight of Wands. The sense of unsettledness is not fun, but short term. Everything is already underway, dude! Chill and let the energy that’s already in motion play out.
  • Wednesday, Five of Wands. Are you fighting? Do you really need to be? Sidestep unnecessary kerfuffle and choose your battles. People have wildly divergent interpretations of the same events.  Respect and let be. Because if you try to force others to become you, it won’t go well.
  • Thursday, Knight of Wands rx. Be wary of acting impulsively. Stay heart-centered, yes. But don’t insist that others understand you. That’s much less important than being you. You stay in your joy without looking for anybody else to validate your excitement.
  • Friday, Six of Pentacles rx. Be generous with assumptions. Assume the best of all.
  • Saturday, Page of Swords rx. Miscommunications and wires crossed. Possibility of bluntness, without malice but misunderstandings and sore feelings are possible. Be aware and you can miss than bus.
  • Sunday, Knight of Cups. Emotionally supportive tone to close the week. Good day to bask in love, in whatever form it exists in your love. Focus on loving feelings

Summing it up: The less you try to control others, situations, and conditions outside yourself, the better off you’ll be. All control starts at home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html. With you, in your own head, I’d add. You know, In case you had already turned your attention to spouse or kids or something…snort.

Are you tuned to your own channel?

Benefit of the Doubt: Tarot Forecast, Dec 12 – 18, 2016

My kids give me shit about my age sometimes, but truth is I don’t really care how old I am. Not that I’m going to admit that. I will tell them to shut up anyway. But in truth, I like where I am, and look to always like where I am.

Isn’t that the mark of a happy person?

Being at peace with wherever you are. Liking yourself. Knowing your life is your own and it’s worked from the inside-out. How you focus determines your experience.

Energetic weather in the wild is kinda wonky right now. At least, the way I’m feeling it. Intense, fast-moving. Ups are way high and the lows are way low and they both are shifting poles pretty rapidly. So it’s good to have some coping skills on hand.

Finding and holding your center will do you a world of good under these conditions (or any, really). What we’re shooting for here is an inner knowing that it’s okay, a sense of realizing who you are and who you want to be and that nothing can rock your peace. Your calm. Your happiness and sense of who you are.

Easier said than done? Sometimes. But it becomes easier and easier to maintain this stance, the more you practice it.

Practice when it’s easy and when conditions become less than optimal, it will be your default setting. Look for ways to feel good, as much as you can. Appreciate whatever you can. Live as happy as you can. And don’t bother with what anybody else is living. You cannot vibrate for another and you cannot force them to your perspective.

But you can look to keep your perspective as pliable and possible. You can do your best to make peace with your now, being true to who you really are. You can stay centered in your respect for yourself. Everything else will form around that core if you keep steady to that energy.

Benefit of the Doubt: Tarot Forecast, Dec 12 - 18, 2016 3

There’s a joke, where I live. “Don’t like the weather in Kansas? Wait five minutes, it will change.”

I didn’t say it was a funny joke.

But next week? It is a lot like that.

The good news in that is that whatever is utterly under your skin on one day? Probably be a non-issue within 24 hours. It’s a quick-change week, so don’t get too wrapped up in any sort of drama because it will be short-lived. That’s something to work with, huh? So let’s hit the day-by-day play-by-play.

Monday, Death: Might be a tough day. Sorry! Could even be an ugly or upsetting event in the news. In a short-term forecast, the “weightier” cards like Death don’t have the same implications as other, longer term readings, though, so no need to get overly wrought up. But do understand the day may have some heavy or difficult energy, nonetheless. It is what it is, but don’t worry about it much because why? Look at tomorrow.

Tuesday, The Sun: Pretty much the exact opposite emotional tone from yesterday. Yay! It’s a great time for fun activities. Look for things to appreciate and feel joyful, and make the most of these kind of days when you get them. Enjoy! Because that’s why we’re here.

Wednesday, Knight of Wands rx: Progress is happening, even if you feel impatient about it. I’m seeing someone tap, tap, tapping their foot. But do know we’re moving forward and call upon your patience mojo. It’s totally warranted.

Thursday, Queen of Wands: Perfect follow-up to yesterday. See? Here’s evidence of the progress we’re making. Enjoy the progress. It’s a good creative day, with lots of room for joy.

Friday, High Priestess: Action? Not so much. Turn inward, get grounded and have quiet, reflective time. Meditation is super-charged. Intuition is right on. Passive, receptive trust in your knowing. And know everything is okay.

Saturday, Hanged Man rx: Antsy feeling, like a drive to do something, do something, do something. The picture folks have conjured is not entirely clear. Postpone action a bit and work on your faith. Get your mindset CLEAR, before you take action. If you don’t have the faith in place, don’t make the phone call, write the letter or whatever. Faith comes first and don’t move on anythign until you got it.

Sunday, Eight of Cups rx: Want to toss up your hands to walk away? You’re not quite ready. The situation isn’t there, all the facts are not out, etc. Just trust! Keep working on the faith. We’re getting there…

Overview/Advice, Two of Wands: Pointing towards a couple of things. Standing your ground, being firm and convinced in what’s right for you and settling in for that. Not activism or convincing others, but for YOU. The second element that’s highlighted here is paitence. It’s a longer term energy, the long game for this coming week. There are ups and down, but breathe deeply, take your time, and let it unfold at it’s own pace. MAKE PEACE with where you are. Rushing won’t get you away from what you’re unhappy with…get where you want emotionally first, and the outer circumstances morph accordingly.

Affirmation: “I am developing the skill to direct my thoughts.” You may not realize how much impact this has. We’re not truly responding to what’s happening outside ourselves. It’s what’s happening in our heads! You can have the exact same experience, but whether it’s Heaven or Hell is determined by what you’re thinking about it.

Any new circumstance you’re exploring, do an emotional temperature check. See how you’re feeling about it. If you’re feeling uneasy, uncomfortable for any reason, look to shift your thoughts. If you do this early on before you get a lot of momentum, it’s much easier to shift. If you can shift up the emotional tone of the situation, you completely shift your experience. This changes the outcome. A lot of what is good or bad in your experience, as in pretty much ALL of it, is a function of how you think about it, which determines how you feel about it. This week, practice checking in on your feelings and ask, “Is there a way I could think about this that would feel a little better?” Don’t worry if that something you could think would be considered “true” as some kind of objective reality. Just look at ways to frame it to feel better and choose that.

The benefit of a doubt is really a gift for yourself. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

We talk about giving someone else the “benefit of the doubt” as if it’s really about the other person, a gift of some sort. It’s not. But it’s definitely a gift. See, regardless of the situation and regardless of how convinced you are that it’s likely one way or another, you can still assume it’s coming from a malicious, ugly place (and maybe it is), or you can assume no ill-intention as default (and maybe that’s true, too). Even if it’s coming from an ugly place, getting upset about it doesn’t help you and your experience. If you assume even the ugly is not about you because it never is–even if the other person thinks it is, it’s still about how they look at the world–then you’ll have a much happier life.

Personally? I think that’s a very awesome gift!

Are you free with your benefit of a doubt?

Centered: Weekly Flow Tarot, May 30 – June 5

Crocheted BlanketsI have been a little crazy, with my crocheting. Like, I’ve gotten started with it and suddenly, I’m whipping it out it like a mad woman.

Yes, it’s significantly opened up my creative force. Y’all have NO IDEA how many ideas come to me when I’ve got a hook and yarn in my hand. I often keep a notebook beside me. It’s insane.

But it does a lot more.

It calms me. It’s meditative. It helps me get out of my fears or frustrations or mind chatter, wherever I happen to be, to very simply get centered.

Centered. That’s how I feel after manipulating yarn into fancy knots for a few hours.

It’s nothing short of magic. And this week? You need to grab on to what centers you and make it happen, baby!IMG_5158

There are ups and downs in the week’s forecast, as per normal. But the feeling of environmental instability is notable. So what do you do with that? You create your own stability. I’m seeing this spread as a whole as a very clear call to be responsible for staying centered. That means not getting sucked in to drama. It means speaking from the authority of what YOU feel good about, what your inner guidance system says, regardless of what outside energy is like. You carry your own calm this week. Which works wonderfully, provided you commit to the process.

Monday, Just Breathe – The Empress, rx: Self-care, not other-care, is where efforts are best focused today. I know you sometimes hurt for others. But you cannot do much for others if you’re underperforming yourself. This is PRIORITY ONE, folks.

Tuesday, Simply Love – The Wheel of Fortune: Opening the heart is magnetic–it opens up opportunities and draws others not only to you, but your work as well. Luck today comes from huge gratitude and a loving attitude. That’s where your fortune lies. Turn up the love.

Wednesday, Challenging Times/Solar Plexus Chakra – The Fool, rx: Challenging times are opportunities to identify and reclaim your own power. In this way, what we may have called “mistakes” can be rightly considered gifts. Move slowly today, and stay rooted in your own authority to fare best.

Thursday, Share the Love – The Chariot: Don’t know which way to go? Easy. What does your heart tell you? What option is most loving? Do that.

Friday, Refusing to See – Four of Cups: Some people will be distracted by their own misconceptions today. Don’t need to be one of them! Acknowledge what’s in front of you before extrapolating on it.

Saturday, Healing Begins – Knight of Wands: Listen to your heart’s desire and take steps from that place. MOVE towards what you want!

Sunday, Coming Together – Eight of Wands: So situations are not a done deal, quite yet. But? Things are moving quickly, perhaps behind the scenes. Have faith and hang in.

Overview/Advice, Find Balance – The Emperor: Do not let the pushes to and fro–from outside, or from fears or desire–lead you off center. This week, keep grounding, keep pulling back to your center, your core. Grounding exercises, in fact, are an awesome way to recharge. Do one of those millions of “being the tree, rooting in the ground” visualizations. Get outside. Participate in physical activity. Basically, whatever brings you back into your body is worthwhile. If anything upsets or bothers you this week, look to call upon your own authority to pull back to center. Don’t react; retract until you feel steady. You have the right. You have the authority to refuse to budge until you feel solid. So do it!

Affirmation from Archangel Metatron: “Call upon me to clear and open your chakras, using sacred geometric shapes.”

IMG_5159Even if you’re not into sacred geometry (and aren’t interested in pursuing it at present), you can certainly look to clear your chakras. Looking at your physical needs and honoring them. Finding space for joy and pleasure, and honoring that. Feeling and enforcing your personal power, and honoring that. Feeling the love in your heart for yourself, for those in your circle and for humanity…and honoring that. Communicating your truth, seeing with your inner eye of intuition and connecting to source–honoring each bit of your life.

Perhaps it can be a week-long quest, with each day of the week focusing on a chakra. Red for Monday, Orange for Tuesday, etc. Working with gemstones or even clothing in the colors of the rainbow will help with chakras.

Meditation–especially using mandalas–or some geometrically-based art projects or mandala coloring is another perfect activity to connect to Metatron’s healing force.

In terms of thinking of this as a weekly affirmation, I’m taking as advice to take ALL our needs into account and addressing the world’s challenges from a clear, solid place. The theme of the forecast this week is all about pulling back to center and this affirmation echos that.

Center. Ground. Stay true to who you are.

I am solid, balanced and centered. #affirmation Click To Tweet

Climb Little Goat: Weekly Tarot Forecast, Jan 11 – 17 , 2016

We’ve got a New Moon in Capricorn (9th) and the Goat vibe is palpable right now.  And this sucker is setting off all kinds of cosmic triggers. There is a definite shifting of gears.

And I’d tell you what this experience is like for me, but don’t know that I can in a comprehensible way. Words seldom fail me, but lately, they’ve felt damned inadequate. And when I try to use my words anyway, well, they often haven’t hit their mark.

The general impression I have, though, is like the past and present and future are all sort of coalescing into a very trippy piece of performance art.

What the Hell, Universe?

tarot forecast 2016

We’ve got a few repeats from last week. My overall impression of the coming week is climb, climb, climb. Keep doing your thing! The appearance of two Knights and two Pages is notable, though. Be on the lookout for both messages, and quick turnarounds of situations (and probably, moods) in the coming week. Keep on task, keep making plans, and take your time executing. One foot in front of the other, little mountain goat.

Monday, Page of Cups reversed: Monday blues? Don’t get hung up on it. If you stay busy, and keep bringing your attention back to task, you be able to get through just fine. Maybe watch a nice movie when you can swing it. Or a bath. Prescription: Bath!

Tuesday, Knight of Pentacles: Keep double checking your facts! Mercury is still retrograde. Detail work pays off. So keep doing it.

Wednesday, Judgment reversed: Not a good day to declare war, or bang down the gavel. Not all  relevant information has come to light. So withhold judgment. Just do your thing. Not all the facts are in, so no jumping to conclusions.

Thursday, Knight of Wands: This would be a great day to go for a run. Be active, make something, cook. It’s a physical day. So it drives any physical tasks that you have. Stay focused, creative. And try to engage your passion somehow during the day. Your fire burns bright, so make use of it.

Friday, Three of Pentacles: You can pull everything together today. Like a master project planner. All the little bits and pieces are a lot more clear today. Yes obviously, Mercury is still retrograde, so not all is fine and dandy in terms of executing new plans. But you sure can work on them and review them. And Friday would be a very productive day to do that.

Saturday, Six of Wands reversed: Yes, you can get some stuff done today. But it’s not gonna be as much as you planned or wanted to. If you can accept that going in, you’re gonna be much happier with the results.

Sunday, Page of Swords: Words have power today. Even messages that you didn’t necessarily think somebody was gonna get, will probably come through clearly. Potential for bluntness, so be aware of the emotional impact. But strong communications happening today.

Overview/advice, the Fool reversed: Take your time! There is no great rush to hop right in. It’s like the  an artificial sense of urgency is coming and going throughout the course of the week. You don’t need to jump on anything before you feel competent to do so. If you jump the gun, you have the potential for regrets and some type of loss. To take your time making your determinations. Yes, you will get started. Eventually. But don’t rush it.

Affirmation: We are all co-creators within a diverse universe. Everything that happens in your life becomes a part of you: you have a piece of the experience, and the experience has a piece of you entwined. So often, we tend to think that everything is all about us, or not at all about us. And it’s neither, really.  We don’t have full creative license to decide what sort of obstacles we face, but we do have the ability to write our own parts to a large extent.

Write a part you can be proud of, the way you handled yourself and your challenges.

If all else fails, keep climbing little goat. #Capricorn #NewMoon Click To Tweet
