Nine of Pentacles: Unflappable

One of my life goals lately is becoming more “unflappable.” Less bothered by what anyone else thinks (including those I love), and more self-contained. I realize some may see this goal as selfish, but I don’t bother too much about that. (See what I did there?)

It really is freeing. If somebody is mad at you? You don’t have to care. You can realize it feels really crummy to be mad and not blame or judge them for it, nor take it upon yourself to change the situation. If someone disapproves of your choices? No big deal. They can approve or not. It’s their choice, not about you. And if somebody else is hurting? You can be compassionate without having to adopt the pain (or task of resolving that pain) as your own. It works so much better than trying to fix it all!

You’ll always see the storms. But if you want to be unflappable, prioritize your own well-being while wishing well to the rest of the world. You just excuse yourself from the task of figuring out and executing the “well” that you’re wishing. It’s enough to have the good intentions and reserve the sense of responsibility for your own life. That’s all you really have rights to, anyway.

This Week in Tarot: You Do You

This week, we have the Nine of Pentacles from the gorgeous (although poorly photographed) Tarot Illuminati, along with Violet from Botanical Inspirations: Faithfulness & Modesty.

Refine your own sensibilities. Become your own guru and leave the rest of the world to do whatever it will. Our job–here, now, or anytime, really–isn’t to create a list of all the good things in the world and all the bad, enforcing one and eliminating the other. You see how that will bring you nothing but grief? It’s a never-ending job!

Our job is much simpler: decide how to live, on an individual level. Disregard anything outside of that.  We sometimes think our individual decisions requires compliance, from the mate or the kids or the parents or the neighbors or whomever. It doesn’t if you let go of the “how” part of the equation and stay firmly grounded in your own energy and focus. Plenty will want to argue this point, I know. But if you can let it go? You’ll find the truth underneath. By demanding to know the “how” part, you limit yourself from receiving the “what” part. It’s pure hubris to believe we know all or can do the work of manifesting better than the Universe can. Just let it in by not fighting all the ways it cannot work, and you’ll be forever ahead of the game.

It doesn’t matter what anybody is doing. You do YOU. That’s all you need to be doing.

[bctt tweet=”Being YOU does not require group consensus. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

Ultimately, the goal is to be unflappable as frequently as possible. The world can be doing what the world does. The boss or mate or kid can be doing what the boss or mate or kid does. No one benefits if you become upset with the external situations–least of all, yourself! It doesn’t prove you care. It doesn’t help the situation. It just adds to the drama. As much as you can stay solid in your own truth, while allowing others to think or be whatever they are thinking or being, the better you will fare this week. It’s an ongoing project, nurturing the self-contained contentment. It can be challenging at times, but it’s well worth the effort, I promise you.

Armchair Astrology: Retrogrades & an Eclipse, Oh My!

The usual disclaimer applies: I’m not an astrologer and I don’t play one on the internet. That having been said, I do pay attention to the energy flow and hence, I  watch astrology. So here are some high points of current astro cycles, “armchair” or dilettante style.

Mars is still retrograde until August 27th. If you don’t speak astrology, that translates to a whole lot of fussiness, barely repressed irritation (and more), and a general underlying theme of frustration. At least, that’s what I’m seeing. Remain aware of any anger you’ve got bubbling under the surface as well, as you don’t want to become a snapping turtle yourself. I’d stay out of conflict as much as possible and not worry too much about what anybody else is up to right now. Use this time to your best advantage, reconsidering how you go about getting things done and know that feeling of trying to run through the mud will ease up toward the end of the summer. We’ll get there! It’s a time to pace yourself.

Mercury also goes retrograde July 26th (until August 19th).  Standard advice applies here–this is the perfect time for revisiting any issue but especially those related to communication. I have great luck with editing under Mercury retro. Mercury is the messenger god, after all. Taking a second look during Mercury retro is highly recommended. Allow for breakdowns of technology, misunderstandings, and delays because you will experience some of that. Think of it as the time the universe is untangling knots in processes, procedures and lines of communication.  Just double-check your details and stay chill. It will be fine, really.

Add into the mix a full lunar eclipse July 27th in Aquarius. Mars and Uranus are involved here, so be extra careful of safety issues. I expect this to feel pretty raw and intense for many, with some sudden plot twists. I also expect the endings and changes that this brings on will ultimately empower, but it may not be an easy ride in the throes. Take excellent care of yourself physically and be sure to allow extra time to rest and recoup because it will help.

Be kind to yourselves out there!

Mind Your Own Damn Vibes: Weekly Flow Tarot, Jun 6 – 12

Ever interact at length with a big trash-talker? And somewhere along the way, you notice they have something bad to say about everybody? No matter who it is or what it is, they have criticism and ridicule. Maybe the delivery is entertaining and it initially comes off as theatre, showmanship. At first, it may seem situational. Oh, those crazy stories! But as time goes on you realize, every situation, all the time, does not equal “situational.” It equals ingrained behavior.

Eventually, it dawns on you: they must do exactly the same trash-talking about you.

Ow.

But the thing is, that trash talking doesn’t become true upon utterance. How someone talks about you (and everyone else) is really their problem much, much more than it is yours. I think of it as a form of illness, really. What a sad way to live–feeling as if you must tear others down to have value, yourself.

The only way such trash talk can really hurt you once you get past the initial emotional reaction, is if it syncs up with your vibration. So if the content rings true to your own doubts and fears, it will reinforce them. And if it doesn’t, then it’s just ridiculousness to you.

Is it nice? No. No, it’s not. Is it your problem? Not really.

You don’t have the power to decide for another, whether or not they’ll behave a certain way. You only have power and right to decide, what you let into your world. Whether you can and do evict the trash-talker from your life doesn’t matter, so long as you step back and release the trash talk itself.

This is a long-winded example of what the energy this week feels like to me. It’s identifying what doesn’t ring true to your soul, what doesn’t work for you. But it’s also removing the outside forces from the equation. It’s not your job to clean up anybody else’s energy and good thing, too! That’s impossible. It’s only your job to manage your own energy.  Fortunately, that’s a whole lot more manageable.

We’ve got a week of managing our own energy. Mind your own damn vibes.

IMG_5163

I’m seeing two very distinct themes in next week’s Tarot flow. 1.) Mind your own vibrations, not your neighbor’s! And 2.) Align your behavior with your true self, to clean up your vibrations. One could make the argument that I’m seeing these messages because I’ve been on a “crochet and listen to Law of Attraction videos)” spree. Or because I need them–couldn’t deny that. Or one could argue that I was drawn to do so because that’s what is in tune with the energetic weather, right now. I’m going with that option. Ha!

Monday, Love – Queen of Wands Rx: Love isn’t control. Love isn’t conditional. Love isn’t stubborn. Love just IS. The sentence, “I love you” is complete, without a “but” tagged on the end. You do not have to love everything someone does to love the person. Today, lead with your most loving thoughts and feelings. Sit quietly a few minutes and reflect on what you love before going out to meet and greet the world. When you take care to adjust your vibration prior to interacting or taking any action, you bring that vibration along with you and infuse your work, your conversations, your thoughts and your life with that vibration. Today? Bring love.

Tuesday, Joy & Stability, Four of Wands: Acknowledge a happy event and enjoy it, for God’s sakes! A safe haven is available right NOW and it’s stable Relish in it.

Wednesday, Seek/Base Chakra – The Lovers Rx: For greater security, look at what does NOT fit in with who you really are. Those nudges you get, where you feel uncomfortable? There is a reason, and that reason is that it’s not aligned with your soul’s intention. Seek out areas of disharmony not to focus upon them (and therefore grow them bigger), but to adjust them to find harmony.

Thursday, Control – Queen of Pentacles Rx: Dismiss the phrase “for your own good” from your conversational vocabulary. We sometimes think we’re doing someone else a favor by “taking care” of ’em to push them into being more whom we think they should be. Recognize the tendency for what it is: an illusion. Care for yourself first. Those inclined to follow suit, those in a receptive mode for the kind of energy you are putting out, will follow suit without any intervention on your part.

Friday, Moving On – Seven of Cups: Moving on is a choice–the outcome you cannot predict before you actually do it. Don’t worry so much about what is what, in terms of outcome. Thing is, you let go of what doesn’t serve, what you’ve outgrown or no longer vibe with and that energy is released to make space for your tomorrow. You know?

Saturday, Listen –Nine of Swords Rx: Your guilt and worries don’t tell you what’s going to happen. They tell you what you think about yourself. Listen to them, not because they are true, but because they are a map to exactly what’s holding you back.

Sunday, Final Release – High Priestess: Tuning in to your greater wisdom is a sort of surrender. It requires letting go of the dominant mind chatter and acknowledging that your inner self knows best while your physical self needs to step out of they way. Get out of your own way!

Overview/Advice, Coming Together – The Moon Rx: To truly connect, you must be willing to be seen. No lies, no hiding. Throughout the week, take the risk of being true to yourself and your feelings. Take the risk of being seen. I’m not saying, “Bare your very soul to anyone who happens to be standing nearby.” Discretion is fine. Just be sure, whatever words come out of your mouth, whatever action you propel your body into taking, whatever thoughts you allow residence in your brain? See to it, these are all honest representations of who you really are, and consistent with who you want to be. That’s simple enough, yes?

IMG_5160We’ve got affirmations times two, because two wanted to show up. So who am I to argue?

  • Passion – Archangel Haniel: “Trust and follow your renewed passion in your love life and career.”
  • Career Transition – Archangel Chamuel: “Your life purpose is triggering a blessed career change.”

Both of these draws speak to purpose and passion. What’s been on my radar recently is how much the energy we are wearing in the process is infused in whatever we do.

You want more money? Do not do money-related work when you’re down, scared or feeling the lack. FIRST get your feeling state up. Calm, center and then build it by intentionally evoking gratitude and appreciation for what you DO have, right now, for all the money you’ve ever had, throughout your lifetime. Feel grateful for all the physical comforts and gifts you enjoy NOW. Get that mood shifted upward, as optimistic and upbeat as possible.

You want love? Don’t reach out when you feel low and are looking for someone OUTSIDE yourself to build you up. If you do, you’ll get someone who reinforces insecurities. Holes in your self-esteem cannot be plugged up by outside interaction, although they can be temporarily soothed. This whole happiness thing is a totally inside job.

But whatever you are looking to do, whatever you want, sync up your thoughts and feelings with the desired outcome FIRST, before you do a damned thing. Because if you don’t, what you’ll do will be damned. So adjust your vibe first. Before anything else.

And then? See which action (if any) feels GOOD, right now. See what activity, what thought, what doing gives you the most joy, the most excitement, right in this moment. If there is nothing that lights you up, wait to move until there is. That is exactly how divinely inspired action, infused with a receptive energy for that you wish to receive, is constructed. Let passion lead the way!

Are you feeling the passion? Can you find a way to get closer?

How do you love yourself?

Love starts at home.

Self-worth is not something you can get from other people.

Self-worth is a gift you give yourself–it sets the stage, the energetic tone, for how everyone else in your life treats you.

[bctt tweet=”How you love yourself sets the tone for how others love you. #quotes”]

Self-love protects you from ongoing toxic relationships. You have no need to wonder if you’ve somehow invited or deserve poor treatment.

You don’t need animosity, towards those who are unkind. Just detachment.

Detachment from negativity is easy if you don’t believe, deep down, negative assessments are correct.

But if the ugly rings true? It sticks.

Whatever resonates most strongly with our deepest held beliefs, we pay attention to and give it weight. We draw that energy like moths to flame, into our daily experience.

What do YOU pay attention to?

The people in our lives can feed us or bleed us. But we prime the pump by becoming willing receptacles of either experience, by way of our beliefs about ourselves.

Whatever you believe about yourself, you will find confirmation (and dismiss the incongruent). This is confirmation bias at it’s finest.

Don’t like the way people treat you?

Don’t bother trying to change them. It’s putting the heart of your happiness in the untrustworthy hands of another.

Instead, look to adjust what you believe about yourself. Once you change that, everything changes.

Have you found this to be true for you?

p.s. I’m checking out interest in doing a Tarot class, customized to the interests of the folks taking it. Since it’s my first go, I’m not charging much for it but am looking to make it a fun, worthwhile experience to anybody who’s participating. So give me a holler if you would like to look into it.

One Step After Another: Weekly Tarot Flow, Oct 5 – 11

Thor my warrior kitten really did a number on me last time I was doing forecast layouts. I kept moving him back, back, back and he was ready to attack as you can see from the picture. It was really difficult to photograph the cards and do my thing with little, needle-like claws and teeth sunk into my forearm.

I let him in because I love the pictures with him exploring the cards–and okay, I’m a sucker for a crying kitten. But because I didn’t eject him from the room, I got pretty scratched up. And I have to take responsibility for that.

Sort of like this week’s forecast: I was acting as if I didn’t have any choice in my pain. But in reality, I just couldn’t have everything I wanted: a happy kitten, cute pictures and an easy, painless process completing my forecast. Thor was being true to his predator nature and acting on his need to play. He wasn’t trying to hurt me, although I did leave the room bloodied.

But the fault is mine: I was expecting him to conform to my desires and needs, without a realistic consideration for his.

You see where this is going?

IMG_4495

This week starts out on a challenging note, but eases up after Wednesday as Mercury prepares to go direct on Friday. (YAY!) What I like especially is that the advice and affirmation cards drawn give us very clear and easy-to-implement guidance for dealing with any stressors that come our way.

Monday, Six of Swords reversed/Healing Begins: Reversed, this is hesitation to make necessary transitions. When change comes calling in our lives, we generally have a limited choice: easy or hard. And by “easy” I don’t mean not low effort or little friction and adjustment. In this context, easy means voluntarily! Because “hard” is kicking and screaming all the way. Just let me put it this way: denial is not a functional defense here. Recognize what’s not right for you so that you can begin transitioning to what is, hard trek or no. Moon in Cancer.

[bctt tweet=”Every journey is not just begun one step at a time. It’s completed the same way.”]

Tuesday, Seven of Swords reversed/Seek Truth: Don’t hide from what you see. You don’t have to fully interpret it yet, let alone act on it. But note it, okay? Not just the parts you like. Don’t let your ego trip you up! Observation is recommended, with a detached, nonjudgemental air if at all possible. But you practice that already, right? Moon and Venus enter Leo.

Wednesday, Base Chakra + Five of Wands/Challenging Times: I’m not liking the looks of today! Sorry. Be aware of potential conflicts and threats to your basic security. Is someone posing a danger to yourself or your loved ones? Don’t ignore the warning signs, and the weird feeling that crops up in the pit of your stomach. Be ready to stand up for what matters. I’m not trying to be alarmist or anything. But stay frosty out there, okay? Hope I’m WAY off base for you! Moon in Leo.

Thursday, Eight of Swords reversed/Helpless and Hopeless: Reversed, this card points to an open window that allows exit from a stagnant situation. It makes me think of Skinner’s box and the concept of learned helplessness. Don’t assume you cannot affect change. Just take a step to free yourself, questioning all the rules you’ve put in place to maintain the status quo. Moon enters Virgo.

Friday, Nine of Wands/Rest & Reconsider: Deep breath. Allow the last few days to integrate into your consciousness and regroup your energy. Good day to take it easy. You know I’m going to suggest my favorite universal solutions, right? Time with loved ones, quiet time in nature and as always, naps are heartily endorsed! Give yourself a break to end the work week. You deserve it. Hello, Mercury direct! Moon in Virgo.

Saturday, Ace of Cups/Love Abounds: Immerse yourself in loving energy of any flavor–creative, familial, romantic, or gratitude based. Joy is the flavor of the day, so partake heartily. ♥ Moon in Virgo.

Sunday, Seven of Pentacles/Awaiting Results: Take stock of all the progress you’ve made and count it for goodness sakes! We focus so much on our shortcomings or not-quite-there bits. Acknowledge the long term work you’ve done and how far you’ve progressed. Efforts ARE starting to pay out, if you’re wondering. Yes, that’s what you are seeing. Woot! Moon enters Libra.

Overview/Advice, Six of Pentacles/Giving & Receiving: Be generous in every sense of the word, including the oft-overlooked form of generosity–allowing others to help you, too. You cannot only give without taking, any more than it’s right to only take without giving. Most of us are emotionally comfortable with only one side of that equation, which varies according to the individual. True balance demands we partake of both.

Affirmation: My emotions are vibrational interpreters. How frequently do you talk yourself out of listening to your gut? How often do we call ourselves “silly, stupid, overreacting, irrational” or something similar? When I say “do a gut check,” I mean listen to those feelings you get–especially the ones that “make no sense.” That is exactly how Spirit communicates to you!

A long time ago, early on in my spiritual seeking, I asked a reader, “How do I know when I’m on the right track, spiritually?” There was so much to consider, so many options that it just felt overwhelming trying to suss out what choices were right, which direction to go.

He smiled broadly. “Joy. Let joy be your guide.” As if it were so very, very simple.

[bctt tweet=”Let joy be your guide. It leads to truth. #quotes”]

But you know what? It is. It is just that simple.

Transformations and growth can be hard for sure, and even I’m not Pollyanna enough to suggest everything we’re faced with in life is joyful. I got that. But when you’re looking to navigate, check in with your heart. Look to follow even the faintest scent of joy if that’s all you’ve got and it will help you find your bearings.

So if you need a touchstone any time throughout this week, remember to graciously accept and receive generosity, and always seek joy. That will get you through any rough patches!

Are you as ready as I am for Mercury to go direct so we can just GET ON with this?

If you enjoy these forecasts, you may also dig Dixie’s book, Everyday Tarot Archives which covers the entire Tarot, card at a time. This forecast features the Psychic Tarot for the Heart Oracle and Ask and It Is Given Cards. If you’d like personal guidance, book a reading with Dixie.

What Can You Feel Good About? Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Jan 26–Feb 2

Weekly Tarot Forecast

“Do what you can feel good about.” I’ve given this advice many times, both to others and to myself in the mirror when faced with a hurtful situation. Family issues, rejections, and betrayals can sometimes leave us simultaneously wanting to make up and strike back. So in trying to decide what’s appropriate, a yardstick that doesn’t try to measure anyone else’s behavior is incredibly helpful.

This week? It’s like that. Do what you can feel good about and what you’ve committed to do.

Most of this coming week looks pretty good! While I’m not crazy about the weekend which the cards suggest may lean toward the raw side, I believe we can use the energy of the rest of the week to carry us through. It looks to be a fast-pasted week with emotional notes, starting off with the Knight of Cups, and including the Chariot and a very busy Five of Wands. The orange topic cards are people, so both yourself, others and your relationship(s) play a major role as well. In other words, this week doesn’t appear in a vacuum, folks. I expect both conflict and comforts to come from your inner circle. So be aware.

Also remember, we’re still in Mercury retrograde. So there may be a little déjà vu of old news showing up to spice up your week. Be graceful and gracious, and always double check your facts before taking action here, and you should be fine.

Monday, Future Life – Prince of Cups: This card promises an upcoming emotional connection, or a deepening of an existing emotional connection. Knights’ energy is not static; it moves! In short, your feelings take you new places. Sometimes it’s pleasant and sometimes it’s not, but it’s definitely moving. So what do you think of that?

Tuesday, Mind – Two of Wands: A decision to be made. If you wonder, “Am I up to this? Can I hold my own here?” The Two of Wands answer is “Yes,” although you may not be as certain as I am.

Wednesday, You – Ten of Pentacles: You’re surrounded by a loving family (be they biological or chosen) and the richness of being a part of that community. Revel in being a part of such a group.

Thursday, Others – The Chariot: Ah, people around you are going places! Be a follower or be a leader, but whatever you do, don’t stand still. You’ll get left behind.

Friday, Relationship – The Moon: This could go either way. There could be mystery and magic afoot, or it could turn out-and-out crazy on a dime. I would advise scrupulous honesty in all relationships. The Moon can show up for lies, and that’s not really the energy you want to invoke here. Don’t push for hard facts. Just allow interactions to take shape and don’t discount the power of emotions in creating reality.

Saturday, Hopes and Fears – Five of Wands: Either there is worry a conflict will never end, or an itching to kick some ass. Keep the temper in check.

Sunday, What You Can’t Change – Ten of Swords: Whoever has hurt you, it’s done. Whoever has not been true, it’s done. Facing up to the full impact is not fun by any stretch, but it’s the hardest part of betrayals. Once that’s over, the healing can really get underway.

Overview/Advice – Four of Wands: Regardless of what others do, honor your commitments and do what YOU feel good about. Your goodwill may waver based on others’ behavior, but your integrity should not. Stand by your word.

Affirmation: The Universe is Big Enough to fulfill my every intent. I am thinking of this in terms of expectation versus reality. I may EXPECT to get my desires in a straightforward, linear fashion because I’ve been “good” and tried my best to do my work. I may get disgruntled if I start at point A and life throws me a tsunami and I realize I’m so far away from my pre-identified point B that I can not longer find it in my radar.

But our vision is so very limited and sometimes, what we end up with is much different that what we envisioned. Doesn’t mean we’re not moving ahead or growing. It only means it’s not in the way we might have plotted it. We need both a deliberate intent for who we want to be, and the flexibility to ride the flow and discover new alternatives. At times, that ugly package is the Universe’s biggest gift and we just didn’t know. Wherever you are, make the best of it and know that if you surrender to the flow, you’ll get much further than if you fight it. Don’t ask “how” you’ll get there so much as focusing on the what you want your life to be about. That vision, attention to where you are going, is what gets you there. Fixation on the rocks brings pain. Fixation on the destination keeps you tracking ever towards it.

Hope you have a wonderful week and manage to sidestep the rocks. And if in doubt, remember, do what you feel good about! Everything else (eventually) falls into place. Much love.

How’s your week looking?

Law of Attraction Minus the Smug

Artist: Lapolat

Artist: Lapolat

I’ve had the Law of Attraction philosophy notably come to my attention a few times in the last week. While I absolutely see some validity to the notion, I find it grossly oversimplified as it’s most often advocated.

In other words, my personal interpretation of the Law of Attraction is not entirely mainstream.

There’s a shocker for you, huh? Har!

“Think perfect, happy, magic thoughts.” If you don’t have a happy, magic life, then you’re obviously to blame, right?

Bah! When I first started playing around with the Law of Attraction, the whole mindset me feel like such a loser. It’s a vicious circle! You come seeking a way to make your life better, but the drive itself to make your life better leaves you feeling bad because it’s YOUR FAULT things suck now, which means you feel even worse and cannot make your life better.

I do believe in the Hermetic Law, “As above, so below” and it’s corollary, “As below, so above.” That’s my starting point.

What we see in everyday life is to a considerable extent a reflection of our emotional life and vice-versa. When you start interpreting life events metaphorically, you will find countless parallels between your physical, real-world life and energetic state. This is not unlike how Tarot works, or dream interpretation, or magic, or talking to spirit animals. Whatever. I see my own life as one big, fat metaphor. It works for me because it holds true with my observations.

But I do NOT believe that if  your neighbor is an asshole or your bank account is low or you have illness, it somehow means your spirit is assholish or poor or sick! I don’t believe we should blame people for personal struggles–even though sometimes people are their own worst liability. Frequently, in fact. But rather than apportion blame, I prefer to focus on making things better where we can, or finding a more comfortable perspective where we cannot.

Now, if every relationship you have is a train wreck, or you are chronically broke, or somehow see the same problems over and over, of course you should consider the common denominator–i.e. yourself–and see what you can do about that. But I’m also willing to consider other options.

It’s my belief  we come to the physical plane for an endless variety of reasons, hoping to master an endless variety of lessons or serve others who are doing the same. Of all of the potential lifetime classes, the “Everything is Perfect all the Time” class with optional lab work in “Rich, Attractive and Youthful, Advanced” isn’t the only one open to the spiritually sound.

We are here not only to create perfection as some Law of Attraction devotees may assert, but also to grow!

If you want to grow deep compassion, you’ll probably have to endure pain.

If you want to learn serious generosity, you’ll likely somehow experience poverty.

If you want to become a healer, you’ll have to face your own wounds.

It goes on and on, just like that. Those who want flexibility must overcome obstructions. Those who want courage will get served threats. Those who wish for patience will be faced with frustrations. How could it be anything but? A piece of fur is pleasant to touch, but it won’t smooth out rough wood. You need the harshness of sandpaper for finishing wood. Muscles grow when they are exercised. This is the yang to the yin, how life works. It’s perfectly balanced. We develop those skills and abilities that we reach for and practice. We grow out of both desire and need. We grow through living! That growth, to me, IS the creative process of life, the beauty and wonder.

And I don’t need any Hippy-Dippy neo-do-gooders telling me that whatever pain I’ve got is due not thinking pretty enough thoughts. Often such suggestions are causally thrown out as a way to minimize the speaker’s discomfort–too often served with a side of smug.

Truth is, NONE of us have untangled the whole thread of the fabric of reality. We’re lucky to catch glimpses of it, understand small parts of the weave. The path for some is working to understand it just a little better. But I’ve yet to meet anybody who has the market cornered on truth, although plenty may think so. But “plenty” could stand to get the Hell over themselves, if you ask me.

I will encourage people to raise expectations of good, increase their vibration and improve the quality of the energy they put out. I do see like drawing like–along with, sometimes, complimentary. I know if you constantly focus upon and expect pain, then pain becomes–at least to a significant extent–your reality. I know that gratitude and joy draw more of what you are grateful and joyful for, into your life. I’ve seen these concepts at work, so I’m not trying to throw out the baby with the bathwater here. There is something to it.

But there is definitely an asterisk. I’m married to a mega Virgo. Worrying is his superpower. If the Law of Attraction worked without any asterisks, I can tell you right now, I’d be dead of some bizarre accident. Hell, we’d all be dead of some sort of global calamity. He could name off a dozen or more scenarios for the Earth’s demise. I could (and do) encourage him to worry less, but that’s like encouraging him not to breath so much. It is who he is and while it causes him grief, I am not about to suggest he is WRONG for being himself.

Nor will I suggest you are wrong for being who you are, however flawed, however wounded or pained that may be. You work with the raw materials of your life, and make the most you can of them. No reason to feel like crap doing so.

Do you subscribe to some version of the Law of Attraction yourself?
