10/27/11: Hope on Tap | Star, Ten of Pentacles

“You’ve got that luck thing going,” my husband tells me. “I don’t know how you do it, but you do. You have the magic to make things work out.”

I do, you know. He hasn’t always trusted it, but it’s come through so many times, there’s empirical evidence. Even a double Virgo can’t argue with that. I call upon a deep, abiding faith things will work out properly if I remain open to it and on my path, coupled with dedicating myself to take those opportunities synchronicity provides. It’s a very powerful kind of magic.

Today’s Tarot is the Star (Aquarius) and the Ten of Pentacles (Mercury in Virgo). Keep the hope alive—the Star is a card of hope and healing; we often see her after having survived challenges, coming through to the other side. As one of the Tarot Eights, this isn’t a place she reached passively, after all. She’s had to work to get there. The seven smaller stars represent Chakras; she works to keep her energy clear and balanced. She utilizes her intuition (foot in the water) to live her daily life (foot on the ground), making practical, real world decisions.

This approach leads to the sense of harmony, abundance and prosperity the Ten of Pentacles promises. One of those cards people love to see, the ten speaks to a solid, happy family life, material blessings and a sense of safety and being “at home.” Doing your work and staying in tune spiritually definitely has it’s rewards! Stay optimistic, dedicated and hopeful, for you are on your way!

Can you use the Star’s energy? How do you?

Law of Attraction and Blame the Victim?

Law of Attraction Bad Things and Good People?

What do you see?

One of the more troubling questions when considering a Law of Attraction worldview is when things don’t go right. What if you haven’t manifested up yourself a reliable car or the perfect home base or trustworthy relationships or whatever it is you want, maybe after years of trying? What if, to put in bluntly, one or many parts of your life sucks?!

I mean, if I create my life and my life ain’t what I want it to be, doesn’t that imply I’m broken? Life sucks = me sucks? Which means I feel crummy about inferior performance in thinking perfect happy-thought-reality-making-beams, leaving me with even lamer thoughts until lo and behold, I now know I’m an utter loser! (Don’t interrupt Virgo hopped on the Guilt Trip Express, man. You’ll just get run over.) Vibration raising fail!

And then you’ve got to account for the whole crappy things happening to good people thing, or when something tragic happens to an infant or whatever. Occurrences clearly outside the range and focus of personal vibration. I mean, we can decide this must be a “soul contract,” a decision before incarnation to include certain touchstones in a lifetime to grow or serve in a certain way. But it’s not completely satisfying. And you still can’t help but feel unsettled, wondering if any of the crappy you’ve had in your life came from you somehow or somewhere along the way–an indication you’re not whole somehow?

I think some of the difficulty comes in seeing pleasant occurrences as good and hence, reward, painful as punishment. That’s over simplistic. So Old Testament, you know? We get a lot of useful growth from pain. It’s like Universal homework. We become better people through our pain, a lot of the time. It grants us access to perspectives and depth of understanding that we wouldn’t be privy to else wise. I’m not saying I won’t duck it if I have the chance. Hell yeah! But given a choice of paying the price and doing without, most of the time, I’d opt to pay my admission again if that’s what the knowledge cost.

Everything that comes in your life, you get something from it. Every bit of experience feeds you SOMETHING. Some experience tastes better than others, so we learn to steer our vibrational rate to up the percentage of desserts to bitter roots, you know? That sounds reasonable to me.

But beyond that…the vibration frequency you have, that’ the world you live in, you know? You carry it with you, you feel it whether it’s there or not. It becomes a larger part of your everyday experience. Over time, others that match that frequency will be drawn to you. That’s the range things will feel most comfortable in, for all sides. It’s like everybody is dancing to the same tune…a synchronicity. Energetic alignment is magnetic.

And as you keep expecting the same, consciously or not, the list of reasons to expect it continues to rack up. Empirical evidences accrues to support your reality. Vicious circle if you want to trade realities.

But you can call off the pity party. No point of teeth-gnashing regret. That feeds the energy you want to oust. Look to clear out the fears that are hiding underneath, whatever lurks below ground that you don’t want to keep in your experience. Cleaning house gives you a smooth, easy energy flow.

The gift with clearing those blocks, shaking out the fears, is that you instantly get protection. It provides relief. You don’t have to struggle to keep unpleasant thoughts at bay. When you’re relaxed and thinking clearly, your channel is clear. You can trust your gut. When there’s something you need to know, you will. And you’ll be turned off, warned, repelled by or otherwise separated from those who’s vibration doesn’t match yours. Severely mismatched energy is jarring and uncomfortable.  Energetic ties aren’t being formed. It’s not sticking to you! It loses it’s power when you can detach and instead,  and makes room for what feeds you instead. Faith takes over.

Change the inside, change the outside. Heal and be healed. The “who started it?” question isn’t especially relevant. Just keep growing. That’s what this Earth gig is all about.

What do you think?

Next Step Up, Always!

basement-stairsLilly says:

“Focus on what you DO want. A little tricky not to go into denial or delusional territory, but it DOES make me feel better than focusing on what I fear or don’t want.”

I’m not talking about tuning out what needs to be done or going “la-la-la” with your hands clamped over your ears. I’m not talking about chanting or affirming or praying to a candle to grant you the temporary insanity to believe you’ve got no problems to resolve.

But whatever the situation, you can fear it declining or anticipate it improving, you know? You decide how you look at it, what frequency you tune in to. Do you see help everywhere or do you see defeat everywhere? Whatever you continually look for, you’re gonna find, man.

It’s the same with people—some seek success through building up, others through tearing  down. Abundance versus lack. Love versus fear.

You tend to end up where you’re looking, so always, always look at the next step up. You don’t have to pretend you’re already there, but appreciating the progress you’ve made so far energizes you and seeing that next step within reach, you know you can make it. That IS what gets you there.

If you’re trying to back up from fears, attending to where you don’t want to go, there’s a good chance you’ll trip and fall right down into that darkness you aimed to avoid.

And when you do, you’ll say, “I knew it was gonna happen!” And you did, because it was all you could think about. Your focus made it real before it ever hit the material plane.

Turn around instead, and let the light at the top of the stairs guide your path, toward the next step up. That’s the way out of the basement.

Do you look for the next step up? How do you see it working?

10/14/11: Emotional Investments | 8 of Cups, Ace of Swords

eight-cups-ace-swords

8_of_CupsToday’s Tarot forecast is the Eight of Cups or Lord of Abandoned Success, associated with Saturn in Pisces, along with the Ace of Swords or Root of the Powers of Air, associated with the Air element. While we’re more familiar with the traditional rendition of the Eight of Cups—leaving!—I like Legacy of the Divine’s version, emphasizing the transformational factors of releasing emotional attachments that sometimes just gets overlooked.

Remember, we have to work (Saturn) to transcend (Pisces). It’s not automatic! Boundaries (Saturn) protect us from becoming swallowed (Pisces) in the emotional stew. We’re in part defining ourselves by what we’re choosing to leave behind. While I often think of the Eight of Cups as a sad card because it can be, it bears minding that it’s also a card of release, relief. Your load is lighter once you walk away, always.

The Ace of Swords would have us being sure choices going forward are conscious, not by default. Reason, ideals, and progression toward defined goals all fit well into the new paradigm. Swords are tools every bit as much as weapons. So use the tools you have at your disposal here, starting with the brain!

You have a choice. It may not be the choice you want mind you, but it’s your choice nonetheless. Instead of attaching energy in hopes of preventing what you don’t want (fear-based approach), try focusing exclusively on what you do want (love-based approach). Both approaches activate the Law of Attraction, you know. So be crystal clear on what you would like to attract. Combined with letting go of emotional investments you’ve outgrown, this is a very powerful combination changing your life.

Are you cashing in any old emotional investments?

Effective Affirmations 101

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” –Wayne Dyer

Effective Affirmations 101 3

Affirmations–short statements of what we want–are easy-to-use, feel good, and are a very practical tool for consciously changing our lives. Thoughts have energy, influencing the vibration of what you attract. The more a thought is repeated, the more deeply rooted the energy becomes in your life. Effective, well-constructed affirmations can shift our energy to powerfully alter our experience. So it’s worth the effort to learn how to use them well.

Tips for More Effective Affirmations

  • Use the present tense. “I’ll have what I want someday” is affirming nothing other than NOT having it now.
  • Affirm what you do want, not absence of what you don’t. Words like “don’t, won’t, can’t” and so on aren’t processed by the subconscious. The disclaimer part doesn’t get attached to the energy you’re sending out. So an affirmation like, “I’m not stressed” actually sensitizes you to stress! Oops.  Not the plan? Instead, try something like, “I feel calm and grounded.”
  • Forget the how; focus on the what. This is no time for control-freaking. Defining the how limits the affirmation’s potential unnecessarily. Have enough faith to allow your dreams multiple paths to realization.
  • Go for the essence, not a single example. It casts a wider net. Instead of, “I make it to work on time,” perhaps “I arrive early and with ease.”
  • Affirm with feeling. It’s the emotional charge in your affirmation that gives it wings. The more positive emotional energy your affirmation generates, the better (and faster) it works for you.
  • Use the one-step up approach. If you’re fearful about paying your bills, affirming yourself as a mufti-millionare is only going to leave you feeling like a liar!  You’ll have trouble generating the positive emotion that’s required to attract the energy you want when you cannot believe the affirmation. Start modestly and once you have that mastered, work your way up. “I have enough to share” or “I have many riches in my life” may be more accessible emotionally and still help shift your energy toward abundance. Once that comes easily and you’re feeling it, you can continue building from there.
  • Appreciate. Gratitude turns blessings up. Love, joy and appreciation are extremely potent vibrations. The most effective affirmations are often built atop acknowledgment of the blessings you already have in some form. If you remember to be thankful for the essence in whatever form it already exists, you’ll begin finding more and more of it to be thankful for.

Let the lack starve! Instead, look for hints of the energy in your life you’d like to grow, and use your affirmations to feed it!

Do you use affirmations? What helps you most?

08/24/11: The Magician Uses His Power

the-magician-tarotSometimes, we feel helpless when we’re not. Today, we get a reminder of our own strength and ability via Tarot’s card of the day.

Tarot_1_The_MagicianToday’s Tarot is the Magician or the Magus of Power, associated with Mercury. As one of the Tarot ones, he’s a singular force, representing the very essence of the power he calls upon from each of the elements. As one of the Major Arcana, his ability to wield that power for transform is remarkable.

The Magician is initiate, spiritual student, and as such, an effective conduit of energy. (I’ll also bet he practices psychic self defense!) The infinity symbol in the traditional RWS version emphasizes the lack of limitation. His white garment signals purity of intent, whereas the red cloak suggests action and real-world effectiveness.

When you see the magician, know that you are not helpless or at mercy of outside forces. YOU already have the power within you to direct your experience. The trick is always in how you direct that energy. You have the tools already! Start by imagining good outcomes, really feeling and conjuring up internally the emotions you’d like to create, and direct thoughts in accordance.

I’m not going to go all “The Secret” on you and say all that’s needed is thinking happy thoughts. But the Law of Attraction is effective. You just have work with the energy you attract. Once you set your will firmly , once you create the feelings and momentum toward positive outcomes, the actions required to bring them into being becomes accessible. You can act on what you believe as possible. Synchronicities fire up and you begin to materialize those possibilities.

You can’t use the Magician’s energy to control others. But you can use his energy to manage your OWN experience in situations involving others, which is far more useful without the Karmic implications of making someone else’s choices. Even difficult situations can give us valuable gifts, if we opt to extract lessons and insight consistent with our higher goals. Use that power you’ve got.

Are you feeling a sense of your own power?
