Jealous Much?

“You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars. ” Gary Allan

jealousyI’d planned on writing about jealousy for the full moon. It’s a Leo topic, you know? Instead, it sat in draft while I ended up talking to one of my Tarot peeps about–wait for it–jealousy! Har!

Aside: Nadia over at Ruby Slipper Astrology wrote a great (and succinct) post that covers being unappreciated. Good reason it was on my radar, I guess. Fits the sky.

Maybe it would be more semantically accurate to call it “envy,” but I’m talking about resentment over someone else having what you don’t.

The interesting thing to me about jealousy (or whatever you call it) isn’t what is says about whome/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_htmlver deemed “unduly blessed.” It’s not even what it says about the person feeling jealous, although it says something to be sure!

I’m interested the practical outcomes, energetically.

If I am jealous of your status, I am setting myself apart not so much from YOU, but from that status specifically.

I’m attaching a negative vibration (read: repelling energy) between myself and the coveted status. I’m defining having that status as evidence of wrongdoing, or the effects of dumb luck.  I’m finding reasons why you did not get there honorably, and excuses as to why I am not there myself. This is what we do to comfort ourselves.

By not crediting you directly, I’m relinquishing my own power to obtain similar outcomes. It is a shallow comfort.

I’m not saying I never feel jealousy. I’m as human as the next gal! But whenever it crops up, I know it’s a poke for me to look deeper and ask myself, “Why?” More times than not, it’s because I fear myself lacking.

And fear IS a great saboteur of success, having not a damn thing to do with anybody else. The good news is, fear is a problem that can be solved!

If someone else accomplishes what I would like for myself, there is encouragement! That means I could do so, too! If they worked harder than I am willing to work to get there, or have skills I do not possess, then it is not my path. But someone else’s shininess doesn’t detract from my own shine. Many beautiful flowers can come together to make up a garden.

Fear and resentment are repulsive energies. Appreciation and gratitude are magnetic energies. It’s not hard to guess which will bring the most success. Instead of rolling around in jealousy, I’m looking to up my own game and raise my own vibrations. That gets me where I want to go!

What do you notice about jealousy?

10/28/11: Six of Wands, Strength | Recognition

Sometimes, I forget how long and how hard I’ve worked at mastery, learning and becoming competent in the fields I’ve undertaken. Being all Virgo and Saturny, I tend to feel like it’s never, ever enough. I’ve been getting pings otherwise, though. That’s heartening. Today’s Tarot is a ping for me. Maybe a ping for you, too?

ace-of-wands-strength-tarot-meaning

Today’s Tarot is the Six of Wands (Jupiter in Leo) and Strength (Leo). Guess it’s time to turn up the lights and start the show, huh? Leo says so, because you’re starring! Expect public recognition stemming from your ongoing efforts at exercising  personal strength.

When you scrub and scrub and scrub, yes, that shine is noticeable to one and all. You may have gotten accustomed already. You may have trained yourself to see the tiny dull spot on the floor, zero in on what is less than perfect. But big picture, it pales next to the shine you’ve invoked via elbow grease. You HAVE done the work, so acknowledge it.

Keep on, okay? And when someone expresses their admiration for your work, don’t argue with them, okay? Humility is laudable, but modesty doesn’t need to be extended to reject all accolades. It serves everyone when you learn to accept a compliment. The graceful response is, “Thank you.”

Are you getting recognition for your hard work?

09/09/11: Don’t Look Far for the Strength

strength-tarot

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” –Lao Tzu

Usually, I complain about repeats. Not today. I like this one! Because I’m still convinced, I was a cat in a former life. It gave me the gift of Leo rising, I’ve no doubt. :cat:

Today’s Tarot Forecast is Strength or Daughter of the Flaming Sword, associated with Leo. As the infinity symbol above her head suggests, she can tap into a seemingly endless, inner reserve of power to achieve her aim. Just as the Magician, it comes from within. She’s taming the beast—she rules her passions, not the other way around. It’s obviously not physical, outwardly obvious prowess we’re looking at. She’d never win via brute force. But with gentleness, love, and purity of intention, she commands the lion with ease.

Know you already have what you need to effectively manage your emotions;  this isn’t a woman trembling, at the mercy of her fears or haunted with doubts. She is capable of mastering the situations and she knows it. Yes, it does take stamina and resolve, but she has access. It’s her belief in herself, her own capability, that continually recharges her energy.

Are you finding the strength?

08/04/11: Your Part in the Show | Knight of Pentacles, Strength & Justice

It’s been a bit of a chaotic week around my house. Maybe you’ve noticed, my energy hasn’t been as present? Sorry about that, but real life goes on. However, things are settling I’m glad to say, and as always, Tarot is here to help us  with much-needed perspective. So let’s take a peek, shall we?

zodiac-tarot-3-card

  • Prince of Stones (aka Knight of Pentacles), associated with Air in Earth
  • Strength, associated with Leo
  • Justice, associated with Libra

Practical concerns rule the day; don’t let details slide. They matter. Think everything through carefully, and then follow through on your ideas to make it real. Mercury is now in retrograde (infamous communication snafus and do-overs until Aug. 26) along with a Cardinal Grand Cross, so we can safely say there’s stress. Having backup plans and allowing for flexibility is favored in this astro-weather.

Perseverance is also a must—it’s absolutely time to perform! You’re on the stage and will be judged (or more likely, judging yourself) according to how dramatically you pull it together. Special attention to balance and fairness also pays off. Each individual has their own part to play. Appropriate boundaries are a necessity to managing well. Where divisions of responsibility are not equitable, expect problematic issues to surface. While this may be uncomfortable, it’s necessary to resolve such questions for a truly sustainable future.

Cheer on others but earn your own applause, granting loved ones the respect to believe they can earn theirs. Your faith in their abilities to pull it off is more valuable than any direct assistance you could provide, anyway.

You working on your performance?

Jewels the Psychic Cat!

Jewels the Tarot Kitty!

Jewels understands me better than many people.

I like saying I was a cat in a former life. When I first started saying this, it was mostly just my Leo rising, joking. But after talking for years to Jewels, I’m not kidding quite so much anymore.

When I had an intuitive portrait done at a psychic fair, the first thing out of the artist’s mouth was, “You’re surrounded by cats!” I had to laugh–I had five of ’em at the time! There’s no denying my affinity with felines. And it’s easy to see with Jewels, since we’re close.

I’ve long said this kitty is psychic. It’s the most reasonable explanation. She KNOWS when I’m having a bad day and gives me extra attention, even in uncharacteristic ways. She’s incredibly smart. She hides when something she doesn’t like is coming up (without any indication of what’s coming) and is exceptionally vocal, carrying on full conversations with me.

Technically, I (generally) speak in English and she responds in Cat. But we do understand each other perfectly. I’m taking this as evidence!

Have you ever known a psychic animal?

Everyday Tarot, 05/13/11: Power to Conquer…Yourself? Strength

tarot-strength-card-psychic-tarot-oracle“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.” –Buddha

Usually, when you hear someone described as “stubborn,” it’s considered a bad thing. At times, though, it serves. Really, it’s all dependent on what you are stubborn about, you know? If the issue belongs to you, and is tied up with your deeper convictions, then yes, dig your heels in. It’s important!

Otherwise…well, maybe not so much. It’s always a question of choosing your battles. If carefully chosen, there’s little temptation to give up before winning.
