05/01/14: Lazy Day! / 9 of Cups

9 of Cups Meaning

Well Osh Zen calls a spade a spade, huh? The 9 of Cups is “laziness” here, but it’s a happy laziness. Hello, Taurus season! How are you?

One thing I’ve had to remind myself over and over again, that “me time” is kind of important. It counts.

Today, carve yourself out some as you desire. You can say Dixie said so. I don’t know who will give a $%$ that Dixie said so. But she does! There is bonding to be had, or clarity, or stress reduction, or inspiration, or who knows what sort of serendipity will be born? I know we have responsibilities and I’m not telling you to call off them. I’m saying “joy” needs to be on the list.

In other words, expect a direct payoff on enjoyment, relaxation, and indulging some wish. Some may call it “lazy” but I’m calling it “necessary and rewarding.”

What makes you happy today?

04/13/14: Compromise / 9 of Cups Reversed

9 of Cups Rx Meaning

Eh. Nine of Cups reversed paired with “Others” suggests a compromise, getting some, but not all, of what you’d like. Overall, even reversed this is a pretty positive energy. So my quick-off advice to you is not to lose sight of all the stuff you DID get from others in favor of what you gave up. Overall, it’s still likely you’re coming out pretty sweet on the deal.

I think it’s also worth noting we JUST saw this card recently paired with “mind.” Several rather positive cards lately inverted. I’m inclined not to call that bad luck so much as tempered or initially confusing good luck. Take that for whatever it’s worth.

04/10/14: Lost thoughts? / 9 of Cups Rx

9 of Cups Reversed Meaning

The Nine of Cups is associated with Jupiter in Pisces—as in gifts (Jupiter) that come out of nowhere (Pisces). Seeing this card inverted and paired with “mind” today, I’m inclined to think of potentially dismissing or forgetting some really great ideas.

My advice for the day: keep a notebook handy! Don’t let that inspiration melt away. Make a note of it. It could have some significant value down the road.

Do your ideas slip away from you? (Mine sometimes do! Working on keeping track.)

01/13/14: Why Sacrifice? / Hanged Man, 9 of Cups

hanged man 9 of cups

The Hanged Man is pretty comfortable in the avatar of Sacrifice, and the Nine of Cups is Tarot’s utter definition of wish fulfillment. I am glad to see this team, because I know exactly what to do with it.

Sacrifice, but with a POINT. Know what you’re working for by your sacrifice! Maybe you’ll let certain things slide because it’s productive in the grander scheme of things. Maybe you’ll do something you don’t really want to do because it gets you closer to where you want to be. Whatever stances you take, select them by your faith that it’s going to help you attain your dreams. And if you do this, have faith it will actually be effective.

Martyr is too strong of a word. But if you’re going to give something up, do it because that choice serves the bigger picture.

Are you sacrificing in light of the bigger picture right now?

12/26/13: Silver Linings / 9 of Cups Rx

nine-cupsMy Christmas gift to you is a happier card for the day after Christmas! Even reversed, the Nine of Cups is friendly. Thank God. I hate being a Dixie Downer.

Looking at this card for today, I want to say “silver lining.” Not the fake, BS type of “silver lining” thing people say just to make themselves feel better when somebody else is in pain. An absolute, legitimate, this-is-something-you’d-really-like type of silver lining.

So today, look for that silver lining. Toss the gift if you want to, but don’t trash the box without double-checking.

Have you found any silver linings today?

12/13/13: Something to be Grateful For / 9 of Cups

9 of Cups

Any day is a good day for the Nine of Cups! It’s the “Wish card” and promises a wish fulfilled.

If you have a wish fulfilled, I’d recommend setting aside some time to fully experience the gratitude and joy of that. And if it hasn’t shown up for you yet, I’d still recommend setting aside some time to fully experience the gratitude and joy of what you do have. We all have something to be grateful for, right?

That’s the cool thing about gratitude and joy. There is NEVER a bad time!

Are you feeling something to be grateful for now?
