Four of Pentacles: Stability. Do What You Will

I got a reminder this week to pay attention to what sort of energy I consume. Enough consumption and you become saturated. Eventually, you find yourself leaking some of that same energy and getting it on other people in the process.

That’s not who I am. That’s not who I want to be.

You’d think I’d be expert at following my own advice by now, but I’m just as human as the next gal. The good news is that I caught it quickly and was able to turn it around. It felt SO MUCH better!

I have said forever and a day: if you need the world to cooperate with you to be happy, you’re screwed. Not going to happen. You do have control over yourself and your perspective, however. It’s a big world. Decide where you want to place your focus.

Stay vigilant, friends.  Whatever energy you’re most consuming will impact your sense of reality.

Next Week in the Cards

For outlook, we have the Four of Pentacles. Advice comes in as the Nine of Pentacles–these cards are from the Star Tarot Deck.

I can’t tell you how happy I was to see this card as the outlook.

Tarot fours denote stability–think the four legs under a table. Sometimes you’ll get this card in the face of anxiety, particularly over financial or physical matters (Pentacles).  With or without the worry factor in place though, an underlying, stable energy is depicted. So while the coming week may or may not feature anxiety, the world will not fall apart. That’s good to know!

The Nine of Pentacles is also an interesting draw for advice. This card often refers to education, formal or otherwise.

The woman pictured in the Nine is a person of learning and refinement. She overcomes her baser (animalistic) instincts to advance her own growth. Hers is an utterly personal endeavor, not collective. She doesn’t rely on force to overpower. Instead, rewards come to her as a result of a kind, gentle and loving stance.

Next week, be open to learning and new perspective. Don’t try to force personal conclusions onto unwilling recipients. The Nine of Pentacles doesn’t suggest we school others.  Following her advice would have us leaning into a gentle, kind and observant stance with the intention of self-improvement. That’s always an achievable goal.

Ready to move forward in your own life? Hit me up for a personal session and we’ll look at it together.

King of Swords & Nine of Pentacles: Who controls whom?

I’ve been mulling over the concept of personal responsibility in interactiosn. Its been highlighted through many different lenses as I go about my daily life and interact. Fitting, I think, considering the recent Full Moon in Libra.

On the one hand, I’m a big believer in not relying on outside confirmation in general. What people say and do is determined by how THEY look at the world, not any solid reality about you. An outside form of measurement is a poor and unreliable substitute for listening to intuitive guidance for directional cues.

Besides, allowing contentment to be conditional on the outside world is a one-way ticket to misery, right there. None of us can garner the kind of cooperation that would be needed to force the rest of world to behave! And it wouldn’t be our right to do so, even if we could.

On the other hand, I’m a big believer in the Law of Attraction because I can see it operating. But putting these two ideas together creates a little conundrum.

The Law of Attraction would suggest that the all experiences have to match the personal vibration. There is no way to evade responsibility for our lives.

Here, however, I’d be quick to point out the difference between responsibility and blame.

What if there were no “blame?” What if we are all just where we are and like it or not, there is still value being delivered, a contribution to the greater whole?

I no longer assume the things I don’t like in my own world are broken, proof of shortcoming or random disaster. I guess I’ve gradually developed a different worldview… This life is a work of art. A creation to be experienced: both what we’d consider light and darkness has it’s place in ultimately making the world more than it was before.

I don’t expect anyone else to adopt this perspective. Because I try to keep my nose firmly out of other people’s perspectives. It’s up to you! But the ideas I’m talking here are definitely in line with next week’s vibe.

Next Week in Tarot

This week, I grabbed the colorful but decidedly non-traditional Osho Zen Tarot for a fresh look at what’s up. We got the King of Swords (aka Control) as the outlook, with the Nine of Pentacles (aka Ripeness) as advice.

I expect a lot of “black and white” with how people think, react and present this coming week. There’s a strong sense of polarization and unfortunately, not a lot of flexibility in this vibe. What’s more, it’s definitely got a strong whiff of holier-than-thou about it.

“Control” isn’t just a keyword here. It’s the intention of many right now.  If you’re not on board, they may try to push you off the boat! That’s the bad news.

The good news is, you don’t have to be a player in this silliness!

Our advice is “Ripeness.” Ripeness is letting things take their natural course, letting life do it’s thing. Focusing on harvesting your own fruit when it’s ready, without worry about the schedule factor or bothering about how anybody else is tending garden. I’m suggesting an inward focus, (although to be fair, I usually do suggest this). But the cards are backing me up here.

When there’s a heavy flavor of control in the wild, you’ve got three choices.

  • Be one of the controllers.
  • Be one of the controlled. (This option includes fighting back the controllers, by the way, because it’s still running your show even if you’re not doing what they want, you.)
  • Ignore it altogether and do your own thing.

See why I’m voting for the latter here?

Here’s hoping your own week is peaceful and your enjoy your own (ripe) fruit.

p.s. If you want a personal consult, give me a holler.

Nine of Pentacles: Unflappable

One of my life goals lately is becoming more “unflappable.” Less bothered by what anyone else thinks (including those I love), and more self-contained. I realize some may see this goal as selfish, but I don’t bother too much about that. (See what I did there?)

It really is freeing. If somebody is mad at you? You don’t have to care. You can realize it feels really crummy to be mad and not blame or judge them for it, nor take it upon yourself to change the situation. If someone disapproves of your choices? No big deal. They can approve or not. It’s their choice, not about you. And if somebody else is hurting? You can be compassionate without having to adopt the pain (or task of resolving that pain) as your own. It works so much better than trying to fix it all!

You’ll always see the storms. But if you want to be unflappable, prioritize your own well-being while wishing well to the rest of the world. You just excuse yourself from the task of figuring out and executing the “well” that you’re wishing. It’s enough to have the good intentions and reserve the sense of responsibility for your own life. That’s all you really have rights to, anyway.

This Week in Tarot: You Do You

This week, we have the Nine of Pentacles from the gorgeous (although poorly photographed) Tarot Illuminati, along with Violet from Botanical Inspirations: Faithfulness & Modesty.

Refine your own sensibilities. Become your own guru and leave the rest of the world to do whatever it will. Our job–here, now, or anytime, really–isn’t to create a list of all the good things in the world and all the bad, enforcing one and eliminating the other. You see how that will bring you nothing but grief? It’s a never-ending job!

Our job is much simpler: decide how to live, on an individual level. Disregard anything outside of that.  We sometimes think our individual decisions requires compliance, from the mate or the kids or the parents or the neighbors or whomever. It doesn’t if you let go of the “how” part of the equation and stay firmly grounded in your own energy and focus. Plenty will want to argue this point, I know. But if you can let it go? You’ll find the truth underneath. By demanding to know the “how” part, you limit yourself from receiving the “what” part. It’s pure hubris to believe we know all or can do the work of manifesting better than the Universe can. Just let it in by not fighting all the ways it cannot work, and you’ll be forever ahead of the game.

It doesn’t matter what anybody is doing. You do YOU. That’s all you need to be doing.

[bctt tweet=”Being YOU does not require group consensus. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

Ultimately, the goal is to be unflappable as frequently as possible. The world can be doing what the world does. The boss or mate or kid can be doing what the boss or mate or kid does. No one benefits if you become upset with the external situations–least of all, yourself! It doesn’t prove you care. It doesn’t help the situation. It just adds to the drama. As much as you can stay solid in your own truth, while allowing others to think or be whatever they are thinking or being, the better you will fare this week. It’s an ongoing project, nurturing the self-contained contentment. It can be challenging at times, but it’s well worth the effort, I promise you.

Armchair Astrology: Retrogrades & an Eclipse, Oh My!

The usual disclaimer applies: I’m not an astrologer and I don’t play one on the internet. That having been said, I do pay attention to the energy flow and hence, I  watch astrology. So here are some high points of current astro cycles, “armchair” or dilettante style.

Mars is still retrograde until August 27th. If you don’t speak astrology, that translates to a whole lot of fussiness, barely repressed irritation (and more), and a general underlying theme of frustration. At least, that’s what I’m seeing. Remain aware of any anger you’ve got bubbling under the surface as well, as you don’t want to become a snapping turtle yourself. I’d stay out of conflict as much as possible and not worry too much about what anybody else is up to right now. Use this time to your best advantage, reconsidering how you go about getting things done and know that feeling of trying to run through the mud will ease up toward the end of the summer. We’ll get there! It’s a time to pace yourself.

Mercury also goes retrograde July 26th (until August 19th).  Standard advice applies here–this is the perfect time for revisiting any issue but especially those related to communication. I have great luck with editing under Mercury retro. Mercury is the messenger god, after all. Taking a second look during Mercury retro is highly recommended. Allow for breakdowns of technology, misunderstandings, and delays because you will experience some of that. Think of it as the time the universe is untangling knots in processes, procedures and lines of communication.  Just double-check your details and stay chill. It will be fine, really.

Add into the mix a full lunar eclipse July 27th in Aquarius. Mars and Uranus are involved here, so be extra careful of safety issues. I expect this to feel pretty raw and intense for many, with some sudden plot twists. I also expect the endings and changes that this brings on will ultimately empower, but it may not be an easy ride in the throes. Take excellent care of yourself physically and be sure to allow extra time to rest and recoup because it will help.

Be kind to yourselves out there!

Refined Approach: Weekly Tarot, May 8-14, 2017

I’m going to cut to the chase this week and let this (brief) video do the talking. Transcript below.

Transcript from the Video

Howdy! This is Dix from A Fool’s Journey. I’m just gonna do a quick [snap] to the point check in for next week. Okay?

Stay tuned.

Howdy, this is Dix from A Fool’s Journey. I’ve got my Tarot deck. I’m gonna pull one card and [snap] riff on it and just get right to the point.

Nine of Pentacles. Wanna tell you to be refined. Not, you know, not stick your pinky finger out when you drink your tea. Graceful. Kind. Understanding. Take a broader perspective.

My sense is that there’s a lot for you to watch if you’re not trying to jump in there and control other people or run the world or decide what’s right or wrong. Look at everything that comes up like a learning experience. Or like a potential, a potential education for you. Way to open your eyes.

And you’ll make the most of the week. Hope that’s helpful for ya! If it is, let me know. If not, okay. Maybe next time! Take care, peace out, bye bye!

Mmmmmm.

Excuse me. That’s the sound of the cats. Tttttooo-tooo-tooo. Ohhhhhh. Cats! Can you not do that? They’re worse than kids.

This week’s forecast features the Gilded Tarot. Hit me up for a 1-on-1, if you’re so inclined or check out my book, Everyday Tarot Archives. And peace out.

Don’t Drown. Surf! Weekly Tarot, April 17 – 23, 2017

There’s a lot going on in the world right now, or at least, it feels that way to me. Plenty of it, I don’t feel super warm and fuzzy over. Decisions that are not mine. Situations that may impact me, directly or indirectly, or they may not–beyond the fact that I’m seeing it all and having FEELINGS about it.

But either way, I do know what my own choice is about. HOW I want to live. WHO I want to be. WHAT I want to direct my own, precious attention toward.

That’s the kind of mood I’m feeling for next week. Like, there’s plenty of mess within your field of vision–mess that you have FEELINGS about–and most of that mess, you don’t have much say in. Sort of akin to parenting. Ha!

Look for guiding lights–thoughts and perspective from traditions that speak to you and give you comfort. Worry less about what other people are “getting” and just keep your corner of the world as tidy as possible.

Gonna do a little Tarot for you. The week of April 17 – 23rd, 2017. Hang on.

Hey, this is Dixie from afoolsjourney.com. Here with your weekly Tarot forecast. I have got the Gilded Tarot here this week. And just gonna lay a few cards, down and dirty. And see what we got.

Oh, good lord! I’ve got Death again. Which, I just had last week. Got the Hanged Man, which may have had for the last week one. I used the Osho Zen last week, and I don’t always translate that immediately in my head.

I don’t want to stop and think on video. ‘Cause it’s an ugly enough process when I’m doing it in real life. Okay. Starting off the week, where we’re at, let’s take a look here. Death reversed, five of pentacles, and page of cups. Mmmmmmm. Reversed.

I don’t want to say this is Chicken Little and the sky is falling, because I don’t think it’s quite that bad. But there’s a sense of somberness, and I’m seeing like, a funeral procession, as far as how people are reacting in general. You know, I’m gonna say news, but it’s not necessarily an issue of world wide news, although, that’s entirely, way too entirely possible, but what they’re hearing, what they’re doing in their personal life, a lot of reacting to the emotional message instead of necessarily reacting to the facts. Which, actually people do quite a bit but they don’t always recognize it.

Starting from that place, though, there’s an idea, “Who’s learned from this? Have we learned from this? We might not have learned from this.”  There’s kind of a feeling of being on the outside looking in, there’s nothing that can be done, yada, yada, yada.

So when you have that kind of thing going on, one option that you have is kind of looking to tradition and seeing what’s usually done here and why. Or looking to, you know what? I usually don’t recommend that people look to their spiritual authorities or whatever. But I don’t want to say that this is a person so much as look for inspiration in spiritual texts or in quotes or poetry or whatever it is that usually inspires you. Okay, ’cause there’s comfort in that. And the outcome of all of this, what your goal is, okay, what you can expect, from the week, is to exercise a little bit of faith.

Also since we did end up on the hanged man, I would heartily suggest that you don’t force anything. We’ve got a smack ton of planets in retrograde at the moment and there will be no forcing anything. It’s like fighting water, if somebody’s like, going under water. And the harder you fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, the more you go down.

Okay? So that’s…be aware. Call on your faith. It really is okay. It will continue to be okay. However, life is gonna feel slow as mud, so I don’t know what to tell ya’ other than cope, cope. You’re good at that. You’re good at that.

Now let me pull a card for overview/advice. To see if we have any special…[laughs]. Okay. We’ve got, got the Emperor reversed!

And the Emperor reversed says, Don’t try to control-freak it or you’ll be sorry! Because you’ll have a mini revolt on your hands!

So, really the best you can do to take care of yourself and stay in the flow and let go of the need to control, because kind of central to the energy this week as far as what I’m seeing is a feeling of being on the outside looking in, being left out in the cold, and there’s nothing you can do, aaaggghhhh. And [shug], you know, you can feel that way or you can feel like I have faith in the Universe, Universal forces, and God, spirit, guides, you know, the law of attraction, whatever it is that you believe in, assuming you believe in something. And I am assuming that because you probably wouldn’t be watching me if you didn’t. But have faith in whatever it is to take care of things. Your job is to take care of yourself, to take care of your mood, your state of mind, your thoughts, and do the bast you can with that.

So that’s what I got for you for the coming week. I hope it is helpful. Go out there, stay safe, be happy, do what you can and what you can’t? Let go! Okay? Ahhhhh.
Peace out from Dixie. Bye-bye.

Harder than it Needs to Be: Weekly Tarot, Mar 13 – 19, 2017

There was one trap I used to trip into, time and time and time again when back I did tech work. I’d research how to  do this or that, and look advice from all over for the PERFECT way to go about it. Without fail, the “perfect way” was always ridiculously demanding and difficult to accomplish without far more resources than I had readily available.

Perfection is also very subjective, no? We all have different needs and goals. So another person’s perfect solution would look different from mine. Becuase MY perfect solution takes into account what I can easily do versus what’s a huge struggle.

But I didn’t think like that. I’d still pine for “perfect” or at least “best possible” and try very hard to make that happen. It sounds good but most of the time, I didn’t have the [knowledge / skills / software / time/ help / pick one or more] required to effectively execute. So there were lots of things I ended up making WAY harder than they needed to be. “Good enough” might be readily within my grasp, but I wasn’t pleased when I knew better could be achieved and if I tried harder–much, much harder–maybe I could get there?

I cannot count the number of nights I was up way too late, sitting in front of a computer and cussing myself for committing to way more, way fancier, than necessary. I can’t say I’m entirely over that–too much Virgo in me, yo. But I notice it and have made a lot of progress (or I’d NEVER be able to produce videos for y’all).

When I took a look at this spread, the overriding message was loud and clear.

You’re making it harder than it needs to be.

If that’s as far as you read, you’ll have what you really need to know. Back up a bit and focus singularly on where you want to go, leaving the how out of it.

[bctt tweet=”Manage your own feelings and leave the rest of the world to manage theirs. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

But if you want more? Here are the bullet points, man.

Next week in Bullet Points

  • Monday, Six of Swords rx: Willpower alone will not get you there. There’s a requirement: letting Universal forces work instead of plowing ahead doggedly in the only direction you think will work. It won’t be the path expected and it absolutely cannot be forced. Yielding will get you where determination will not go.
  • Tuesday, Six of Pentacles rx: With Venus retrograde, make sure how you distribute resources reflect current values and not old news. Review and realign based on what’s valuable to you NOW.
  • Wednesday, Two of Swords rx: You cannot make other people’s decisions and if you try too hard to push ’em? Prescription for disaster.
  • Thursday, Page of Swords rx: Mixed messages. Be wary of (yourself or others) saying one thing but in actuality, meaning another. Don’t say what you think they wanna hear. Just lay down tracks of unadorned truth, but sprinkle some kindness on top if you can. It’s a smidge edgey.
  • Friday, Seven of Swords rx: Something that you think nobody is watching? Watched. Always behave in a way in private that you’d be comfortable with becoming public, if ever it did.
  • Saturday, Temperance rx. Don’t overdo the drinks! Tendency to over-indulge or act without sufficient restraint. DESIGNATED DRIVER! No unnecessary risks.
  • Sunday, Nine of Pentacles rx: Tendency toward rawness, coarseness, maybe not intentional but there are still sharp edges on interactions. Presentation is not refined. Focus on the message and not the frilly edges and realize your own words may have the same rough, ragged edges to listeners.
  • Overview/Advice: Eight of Swords. You can do what you’re ready to do when you’re ready to do it. All those external factors making it harder? Let ’em go, emotionally. Forget justifications. Just shift your focus from fears to desires to let the path open up for you. Faith, my friends, is your savior here.

Just focus on where you want to go, and don’t try to micromanage the rest of the world. It’s the scripting that is throwing people off. “If I say this, he will say that and she will do this…” That kinda stuff. I would expect that approach to backfire like an old clunker next week. On the other hand, eyes on your own lane and you’ll make it through the week with flying colors.

Do you often make things harder than they need to be?

See what you can do about that, if you do. And be well!
