Do-it-Yourself Magick Work: Weekly Tarot Forecast, Feb 8 – 14, 2016

I have been known to…go my own way. Have my own (unusual) take on the world. Live according to my own rules.

It’s not a recipe for lacking accountability. Because my rules? They’re stringent enough.

But they are rules I can LIVE with. I do the best I can. And some days, that best is better than others. But it’s always my best.

Next week, do the best you can. Live by your own rules, but understand what–and more importantly, WHY those rules are. And for the situations where you feel like you have no outs? Well for those, do a little magic work.

In general, we need to stay busy in the coming week. Doing our thing. The week also looks like the perception is HEAVILY influenced by our attitude, so keep the attitude in focus. There’s a strong call to march to your own tune–provided you can justify why you chose that particular song.

Thusfar, I haven’t checked the astrology to cross reference Josi’s take on the week, but I’ll be doing that next. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some similarities though. I wait until after I’m done most of the time so I’m not unduly influenced. My own tune, man.

Here’s the video version, or read text version below.

For those of you who prefer the written word or just need a quick check later in the week, below are the crib notes.

febweekly

Monday, Page of Wands – Take action! Don’t just make a to-do list, but mark stuff off of it!

Tuesday, Ace of Pentacles rx – Understand there might be some delays. That’s why you need to get started. Refinement will be required.

Wednesday, Ten of Cups rx – Upright is nicer, but we can still work with this. If you have 9 things to be happy about and one thing to be bothered by, don’t focus on that one bothersome thing.

[bctt tweet=”Set aside what’s not perfect in your life to focus on what you love. That turns it up.”]

Thursday, Nine of Pentacles – Not that bad! Learning is favored, and a great time to study and pick up a new skill. Hands-on practice will be especially effective.

Friday, Hierophant rx – Take an unconventional approach. Know the rules and understand them so you can “bend a few rules” and push some envelopes.

Saturday, King of Wands rx – Don’t cram your viewpoint down anybody’s throat. Passion is awesome. But not too pushy. Too pushy backfires.

Sunday, Five of Pentacles rx – There’s a hesitation in asking for needed support and possibly exaggerated feeling of lack. To a certain extent, it’s a false scarcity. Review if the lack is real, or more representative of something you’d prefer not to chase.

Overview/Advice 7 of Wands: Make your own decisions, but be prepared to justify them.

Affirmation: Magick! Make your own magick by aligning everyday actions with magickal intentions. Whatever you feel is outside your control, well take physical action symbolic of what you want to manifest, with intention. It really does help!

Keynote Speech: Weekly Tarot, Jan 4 – 10

I remember the week before school would start every year. It was one of my favorite parts of the summer, oddly enough. Getting all those school supplies lined up, marked with my name. Virgin paints, new crayons, colored pencils. Paper and pencil holders and notebooks, each so full of possibilities.

Yes, I like office supplies.

But this week? It reminds me a little of this. We’re starting off a new year. And whether you loved 2015 or could not wait to kick it to the curb, fresh starts can be helpful. We’ve got clean notebooks and fresh pens. Let’s write in some good stuff, shall we?

To start the new year off with a little bit of fun, I thought I would use the lovely Housewives Tarot. I haven’t had this deck out the while, and I really do enjoy it. So let’s see what the ladies have to say.

IMG_4856 - Copy

We have a lot of Pentacles and a lot of Cups this week. So what you’re doing, real-world manifestations are important, all while tracking your emotional flow. It looks like some time of organizing and reprioritizing. A great week to be working on your planner for the year!

Also notice the Eights we have to begin the week? Routine and schedule gets along very well with Tarot Eights. Build some continuity into your week and maintain a routine if you can. It will help.

Basically, we’re looking to find our groove this week. Think of it as the year’s keynote speech, looking to set the tone.

Monday, Eight of Pentacles: Just keep focused on your work, and do the best you can. Nothing out-of-the-ordinary demanding attention. Just do your job. That’s all you need to do today.

Tuesday, Eight of Cups: Tuesday is a little trickier. There’s a potential to be overstimulated, hopped up like you’ve had too many lattes. Decide what’s worth your energy and what’s not a good use of your vital life force. You can pick what you take in here, metaphorically consume. Just eat the tasty bits. And lay off the coffee! Also? Mercury retrograde official, settling in.

Wednesday, Seven of Pentacles reversed: A great day to consider what fits into your long-term plans and what does not. Everything is up for reevaluation. Mercury will force review if you don’t volunteer for the job first. Some adjustments to be made, but they are ultimately useful.  It’s instructive (if sometimes annoying) to see what needs to be realigned.

Thursday, Page of Cups reversed: Possibility of mood swings or childish outbursts. If some of the sloshes on you, realize it’s not about you–as if it ever is. As far as dealing with it, I distinctly advise against feeling sorry for yourself; just keep moving along. These are not the mood swings we are looking for, oh Jedi Grasshopper.

Friday, Nine of Pentacles: A good day for detail work, cleaning up, getting things in order to finish off the work week prepped and ready to go next week. Focus looks good, coupled with a solid attention span. Another day to do your job! Go forth and kick some ass.

Saturday, Temperance: Here you can take those little lists you compiled through the week (be they mental or literal) and prioritize them according to your master list. What do you really want? The week is largely been about details in small things. Saturday, you look at the bigger picture, and how everything fits together. Compromises can be achieved today. Or integrating lessons from the week. A good day for reflection.

Sunday, Magician reversed: Matters may arise that are now out of your hands. Know that the situation is basically stable, even if  you have some anxiety over it. So don’t rush to judgment: don’t declare winners or losers. Just keep communicating, keep doing your thing.

Overview/Advice, Six of Cups reversed: Throughout the week in all decisions involving others, ask “What’s in it for them?” I’m not saying someone is trying to snow ya here. Just that the information is relevant.

Affirmation: Why does my saying ‘no’ to it means saying ‘yes’ to it? Now this is a law of attraction idea,  whenever you give your  emotional energy to becomes included in your life. But even if you’re not thinking all law of attraction, it makes sense. If you constantly think about a certain topic it becomes part of your experience, whether it happens in the physical sense, or just vividly trollops through your imagination on loop.

You know the phrase, “I should charge them rent for living in my head?” It’s the same idea.

This week gives us opportunities to direct our day-to-day experience. More forcefully, by choosing what we want in it. By choosing the people and the emotions and the activities, that we want and deliver attention to, we are steering the boat.

[bctt tweet=”Extra Attention = A vote for that flavor of experience. “]

When you find yourself aware of what you’re thinking about, that can become an opportunity to cast another vote. Sometimes people will say, “vote with your feet.” I’m saying, vote with your head!

Remember – this is the year’s keynote speech. Stay on topic and on schedule. Ha!

Are you falling into the flow?

Heart and Brain: Weekly Flow Tarot, Aug. 30 – Sept. 5, 2015

When my kids were little and getting in trouble for something, I integrated praise or even jokes into those talks, at least as much as I could manage. The point was remaining emotionally engaged with them throughout. I wanted them to know I loved them, I still saw them as good kids, even when I wasn’t remotely pleased with specific behavior. This week’s energy reminded me of that…you need to exercise both heart and brain to be successful.

IMG_4441

I look at this layout, and I see making rational choices despite emotional pulls, doing what makes sense. It calls for maintaining an awareness of and respect for feelings without letting them run the show entirely, you know? I see the potential for tough love, but even more, a decision to work through challenges and continuing to behave in a loving way, while still doing what needs to be done. The mix of Swords and Cups is very suggestive of a parent lovingly (but very clearly) correcting a child, or someone having a heart-to-heart (aka “Come to Jesus”) talk with someone. I’m not saying those types of scenarios are inevitable, but I’m seeing that as one way this could express. Saying what needs to be said in a loving way, as opposed to what’s easiest to say, or avoidance.

Monday – King of Swords: Rationality for the win, especially in the world at large. Do what needs to be done–no more, but no less, in terms of having expectations. The King of Swords is fair always, but never a pushover. He doesn’t demand so much as he expects. Follow through is a good idea, as is approaching ever question from a rational, thoughtful platform.

Tuesday – The Lovers: Choose to be kind. Choose to see the good in people, wherever and whenever you can.

Wednesday – Queen of Swords: Another opportunity to make clear, rational decisions. This time, it’s more directed at home, starting with the mirror and working your way out. The Queen of Swords always suggests prioritizing to me. She has a laser focus so even when she does multitask, she can always tell you what is top of the list. This approach will serve you well.

Thursday – Page of Cups: Say what’s in your heart. Be honest, even if it feels a little vulnerable.

Friday – Eight of Swords Reversed: Opportunity for a leap ahead or significant progress, if you’re willing to overcome fear to do it.

Saturday – Eight of Cups Reversed: Don’t leave everything behind. Just what doesn’t work for you anymore, what you’ve legitimately outgrown.  There is a baby in the bathwater, you know? Fish out the baby.

Sunday – Eight of Pentacles: Keep working away at what you’ve been doing all week. Stay the course and hey, get your chores done before the next week begins! It looks busy, next week.

Overview/Advice – Nine of Pentacles: Thor Kitten is helping by pointing this one out to us as important. Use what you’ve learned! You have the skills and understanding you need here. Any stress that comes up this week, look to approach using what you’ve already learned, and with a refined sense of class. “Grace” would make an excellent keyword to keep in mind.

Affirmation: Azure – Protect Yourself. This affirmation and picture suggests clarity. You have something you need to say? Say it certainly, but stick to the point. You have something that’s not working in your process? Cut it off, as soon as you see it’s a problem. Don’t wait. Boundaries are your friends. Know what you can and cannot do my friends, and commit to only that in the former category.

[bctt tweet=”Be as kind as you can without sacrificing the message. #tarot #forecast”]

This is not a comfortable week for pushovers or procrastinators! Those that stay on task, on point, and are kind but fair–including fair to themselves–fare best.

Waterlogged: Tarot Flow, Aug. 17 – 23, 2015

It was late at night; I was laying on the couch. I had been crying–so much crying, there were no tears left. Exhausted but not sleepy, I just watched tree branch outlines shimmy back and forth through the window shade, rhythmic outlines, back and forth like the hypnotist’s swaying watch. There was just nothing left…no thoughts that hadn’t already been thought to death. No emotions that hadn’t been cried out. And nothing to do, nothing at all.

I didn’t know where I was going, but I knew for sure: it was going to be different.

Looking at this forecast, I’m remembering that night, mid Pluto transit. Because this week’s forecast, is like what followed that night. I surrendered, because there were no other option. The gift of surrender, however, is the fresh start that follows.

Weekly Tarot Forecast

Looking at this layout, I’m expecting one emotional week! Lots of cups and water-related cards. I would hasten to add, “emotional” doesn’t equal “bad emotions.” But it may not be all fun, and without question, a bit on the intense side. The absence of swords entirely–the mental element–is quite notable.

[bctt tweet=”#Tarot Forecast: Don’t expect people to make sense this week, including yourself.” #astrology]

Did you set an intention for the recent Leo new moon? Because this week, it looks like lots of potential for take-off with a dramatic flair! Just know that you’ll likely be taking off with a case of the feels, man.

Monday, Disruption – Creativity, The Empress: It’s funny to see the Empress associated with disruption. Usually, I think of her as being so calming, maternal figure that she is. But then I remember, the Empress is Venus energy, and Venus is retrograde. Of course, the card is inverted. Today, I expect bits of the past to stir the pot in the present, particularly in areas of love, money and creativity. Artistic or creative endeavors can make an impact and have a special power to show truth that isn’t understood otherwise. Metaphor packs a punch, too.

Tuesday, Patience and Planning – Innocence, The Sun: Not the day to be jaded. Look at projects and plans with fresh eyes, and try to inject solid, happy energy. Approach any goal setting with the eyes of a child, no preconceived notions. Look to cultivate Beginner’s’ Mind.

Wednesday, Passion Ignited – Trust, Knight of Cups: Big admonition to go with your heart and let the Universe sort out the details. This is loud and clear, y’all. Take that leap of faith.

Thursday, Harmony (with Base/Security & Throat/Communication Chakras) – Healing, King of Cups inverted: Who you are and what you say need to be sync with how you live. Anywhere that is it not in harmony creates pain. I don’t care about the “why it’s not” part. I’m sure you have good reasons. I’m just saying, living out of step with your inner self leaves you feeling insecure, insincere, and wounded. Look to align. It’s worth the trouble.

Friday, Light – Playfulness, Page of Wands inverted: Yes there is work to be done, but do it with your playful side intact. Don’t rain on your own parade! A light-hearted, fun approach gains more traction, even if you have to stretch a bit at first to introduce it.

Saturday, Accelerated Motion – Ripeness, 9 of Pentacles: Ah, blessed sweet progress! Efforts show payoff, and it feels like the world is truly moving. This feels to me more like an understanding, a connecting of the dots, than outward changes. Realization of how far you’ve come.

Sunday, Firm Foundation – Inner Voice, High Priestess: Do you need me to spell this out? Probably not! You know which way to go. That little voice inside is telling you. If your anxiety is drowning it out, get quiet and empty your mind. It will not steer you wrong.

Overview/Advice, Transformation – Going with the Flow, Ace of Cups: The gift for riding the wave of emotion this week is that your internal guidance system is full-on, on the job.  You just have to follow it. It makes ALL the difference in the world. Stay tuned in and stay the course. I’m not gonna lie–transformation is very hard work. It’s also very much worth it.

Aug 17 affirmation backAffirmation – “I trust the process of life. There is a rhythm and a flow to Life and I am part of it. Life supports me and brings to me only good and positive experiences. I trust the process of life to bring me my highest good.”

This is a tough affirmation for me to completely get behind.

I get the concept, for sure. All that happens is what needed to happen, that’s the basic idea. But I’ll tell you, it doesn’t always feel like that, and I’m talking big ways as well as small. I cannot bring myself to call every experience “a positive one” because a really important part of my job it talking to people who are in pain. Can every experience be used to it’s full advantage? Sure! I’d even go so far as to say it may be for the highest good ultimately–even when it’s hard to see or say that. But damn. It can hurt in the process. And I’m not okay with sugar-coating that fact up.

You know what? I’m going with a compromise. “I trust.” That’s my affirmation for this week. Just trusting is hard work. And just trusting is enough.

Do you have a case of the feels?

Right Place, Right Time: Weekly Tarot, Aug 10 -16

How often do you wanna just slap the Sally Sunshines of the world, who constantly assert the whole “everything happens for a reason” crap? You create your reality, you’re at the right place at the right time, there are no mistakes…etc. I say that sort of thing myself, full well knowing if I heard it at the wrong time, I’d want to slap me! When you’re hurting, it sure doesn’t feel like it.

But I’m going to say it anyway: you are in the right place, at the right time. Even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Anytime I see this many inverted cards with 5 days of 7 reversed, I know it’s going to be a two-steps-forward-one-step-back kind of week, most likely without a constant sense of clear direction and perhaps some strife. Bearing that in mind might help when you’re on the “one step back” of the energetic dance. Seeing the number of Wands (Fire energy) with some swords in there for good measure, I’d bet on some intensity as well.

That said, there is a lot of reassurance here as well.

August 10 - 16 Forecast

Monday, Sacrifice – Participation, 4 of Wands Inverted: What do you have to give up, to fit in to the group, be it work, family, friends, whatever? Is it worth it? It may well be, I’ll hasten to add. I cannot answer that question for you. I can only say it looks like a letting go is required to be a part of that gang. But that looks like the question at hand.

Tuesday, Material Harvest – Ripeness, 9 of Pentacles: Knowledge, education and training pay off financially. Being a class act across the board and comporting yourself with professionalism is highly recommended. Now, the fact this card appears at all tells me many will be tempted to behave otherwise. So heads up, huh?

Wednesday, Positive Movement Forward – Playfulness, Page of Wands Inverted: There is a time for work and a time for play, but you can maintain a fun-loving, pleasant attitude throughout. Make an extra effort to be upbeat today. It will help both you and the general populace at large.

Thursday, Stand Your Ground – Fighting, Knight of Swords: Looks like you may be on your own with a moral question, or at least it feels that way: the “on your own” part, as well as the “moral question” part. Be prepared to articulate your convictions, along with the reason for them. Integrity may not grant you a unanimous decision, but it sure feels a lot better and it can win the respect of the right people.

Friday, Partnerships & Alliances – Possibilities, 2 of Wands Inverted: Unlike yesterday, today smells of compromise. Of course, “compromise” isn’t a dirty word. It’s all in what you compromise. Wants versus needs, preferences versus moral questions, you know? Let go of what doesn’t matter; stand firm on what does. Choose your battles.

Saturday, Love Begins – Healing, King of Cups Inverted: Let loved ones in to what’s going on in your heart. Connect and share. It’s okay–you don’t have to feel 100%. The love in and of itself is healing.

Sunday, Rejoice in Celebration/Third Eye Chakra – Ice-olation, 3 of Swords Inverted: Another advisement to connect–both to spirit energy and loved ones. Darkness isn’t vanquished through fighting, but through light. Love heals, love comforts, and love wins.

[bctt tweet=”Do not flail against darkness. Just shine light. #quotes”]

Overview/Advice, Emotional Loss – Trust, Knight of Cups: Mourning a loss? It can feel like a free fall. Allow yourself to be supported, by loved ones and by spiritual convictions this week. It’s not taking the easy way out, to reframe and choose to believe. It’s healthy and healing.

Affirmation: All is well in my world. Sometimes, this is a damn hard affirmation to wrap your head around, isn’t it? Sometimes it feels like we are anything BUT well! Truth is, though, our scope of understanding is limited. We’re in school, and we don’t get to peek at the full lesson plan.

I can say there have been lots of times when I felt like my life was pretty much done in one way or another–things would never feel “okay” again, so I thought. And I can say with certainty, each and every time, that feeling was temporary. If you’re there now, my heart goes out to you. I hope the thought such states are temporary is of some comfort.

I would urge you, any time you feel too much hurt, too much darkness in your life, make it a point of shining light. That can mean helping someone else, surrounding yourself with beauty, caring for an animal, making something creative, planting flowers, even cleaning house. It doesn’t matter how you make light. Anything that engenders feelings of joy, love, or gratitude is like a floodlight energetically. It makes a difference.

You are in the right place, at the right time. You just may not know it, right now. You do know how to shine a little light, though. So when you don’t know anything else to do? Do that. Shine a little light. It will help.

How you doing out there?

Releasing Regret: Weekly Tarot Forecast, July 27 – August 2

Regret is on my radar this week. After tragedy hits, it’s so easy to find a million and one ways it might have been avoided–at least, that’s how it goes down in the imagination. Things you did or didn’t say and do play out over and over from every angle, like a broken record in your brain that just won’t stop.

We generally do the best we can. But what does one do when their “best,” in retrospect, doesn’t feel like “enough?” That’s the sort of regret that’s on my mind right now and  I find some comfort in this week’s affirmation.

[bctt tweet=”#Peace comes from remembering that only #love is real. #affirmation #quotes”]

Anything that doesn’t feel like love? You can release it. It’s okay.

forecast 0727thr802

This week doesn’t look especially easy to me. Emotional fluctuation is evident. The good news is, there are up’s as well as down’s. Maybe this will hit your personally or maybe it won’t, but either way, it’s good to stay aware of the bigger picture for some. The keys to making the best of it–personal or not, by the way–are held in the advice and affirmation cards.

Monday, Conflict and Defeat – Five of Swords: There is a heaviness, a tiredness for some folks today. An air of resignation about this. Retreating for some rest and recuperation is the best strategy if you can manage it. And if are not one hit by the heaviness, be kind to others because you never know what weight they carry in their own heart.

Tuesday, Emotional Loss – Five of Cups: Palpable loss and pain. Seek comfort and solace in the affection of loved ones. “Normal” as you knew it may not be possible, but a new normal can become possible

Wednesday, Victory & Success – Six of Wands: Some hope, recognition or acknowledgement. A welcome respite for anyone struggling.

Thursday, Fulfillment of Wishes – Nine of Cups: Speaks for itself, really. A wish comes true. May it give you hope and strength, if you’re in short supply.

Friday, Sacrifice – Hanged Man: Let go. Release. Do nothing. Allow all feelings, whatever they are, to wash over you, through you, and drift away beyond you. Do what you need to do, for the greater good.

Saturday, Material and Spiritual Prosperity – Six of Pentacles reversed: This weekend holds some rewards, but some discontent as well. There’s a tendency to not trust what is going well. Look for trusted advisors to use as sounding boards if it helps.

Sunday, Material Harvest – Nine of Pentacles reversed: Evaluate budgets and spending. This doesn’t mean you’ll run short so much as you want to be sure you’re getting the best value from all your investments–financial and energetically. Specifically seek out reasons to be grateful.

Advice/Overview: Disruption – The Tower reversed: Minimize disruption. During emotionally challenging times, turn to routine, familiarity, and checking items off your list to carry you. If your default “normal” is not available, start to construct a new normal. There is comfort in the everyday activities. Simple chores, small rituals of living, a regular sleep schedule and nutritious food are some of your tools in minimizing disruption. Honor your feelings, but don’t completely set aside the business of life. That “business of life” bit can get you through a lot.

Affirmation – Archangel Chamuel: “Peace comes from remembering that only love is real.” So often, upsetting words are misunderstood, even by the person speaking them. What you’re saying to others is most often a reflection of how you’re feeling about yourself. We see everything–EVERYTHING–though the filter of our perception and emotional state at the time. And that filter can be very hazed or distorted. That filter doesn’t necessarily reflect reality.

Love is not physical proximity. Love does not reside in some magic words to set things aright or secure a particular outcome. Love doesn’t require acquiescing to another’s desires, or really any action at all. Love is an intention, a state of being that can be held in the heart for one and all–family, friends and strangers. Love can transcend time and space and physicality. In that way, love is the only thing that is real.

How are you doing out there?

Love,
Dix
