2 of Pentacles: One Step at a Time

I’m trying to unclog a kitchen sink as I write this. Jury is still out on whether there will be a plumber in my future or not. We’ll see!

Maybe this will sound dumb to you. But it’s true: the way I’ve felt about this situation is like a less-intense version of this week’s forecast.

Next Week in Tarot

Here we have (a slight blurry) Two of Pentacles (aka Rainbows/Moment to Moment) for the outlook and Nine of Swords (Clouds/Sorrow) for advice from the Osho Zen Tarot deck.

The outlook isn’t hard to read. Lots going on this week, so just don’t let it overwhelm you. Take it step by step, moment by moment and stay in the present to manage it all.

But for advice, sorrow? It’s an Osho deck, so I looked to see what Osho has to say here.

The arrow is hurting: it can be used. The pain is not to make you miserable, the pain is to make you more aware! And when you are aware, misery disappears. -Osho

So yeah, if you are feeling some woe, okay. Don’t try to pretend you feel better than you feel. But don’t see it as something gone horribly wrong, okay? See it as an indication, nay, an opportunity, to transform here. You can feel better. You can adjust your outlook and adjust your choices and find ways to feel better. Honestly, feeling upset with yourself is often a much bigger deal than the actual situation was anyway.

Letting your feelings run their course and then deciding to get back on track to a better-feeling place is the way you get beyond sorrow.

When something goes wrong with the house, I sometimes get anxious or overreact. I am bothered because I feel helpless to fix it, much like this sink. In reality, I have plenty of resources at my disposal and there are multiple paths to a solution.  I already know this for something as trivial as a clogged sink, but the same principle applies to everything. The Universe has resources at the ready all the time. We don’t have to come up with the answers. We just have to manage our emotions well enough we can be inspired to some.

So hang in the moment as much as possible. If all is not sunshine and roses? Okay, I get it. Life isn’t always. Just feel what you feel without adding angst about how you feel to the mix. Take time out and try not to get it all over everybody else if you can.

And then, when you can? Let go a little. Relax a little. Know you’ll figure it out as you go. In truth, that’s the only way we figure anything out: as we go.

Nine of Swords: Easy Does It…

Quick aside: For those of you that noticed I didn’t post last week, sorry (and thank you for missing me)! I was very wrapped up in a work project and simply didn’t manage. Thanks for looking for me, though!

“Living what you don’t want makes your heart call out louder for what you do what.” I said that to a worried mom earlier today, and it’s true. It’s just a way to remember that no matter what is going on, something is coming of it and that “something” is ultimately able to work in your favor.

Now, I’m all about looking at the bright side. Enough that I am sure I annoy the holy heck out of people. Sometimes, I get tired of listening to myself. Har!

But the fact is, sometimes you don’t like what happens in your world or the bigger world. Sometimes, it’s hard to see an upside. Sometimes, you are going to feel hurt or upset or disturbed. Because that’s part of life.

Storms happen.

When you’ve got a storm underway, I’m not going to tell you to pretend to like it. I am going to say it’s best if you can avoid obsessing, though. Obsession and focus just makes those clouds bigger and blacker and scarier and doesn’t do a damn thing to help you ground and stay clear enough to navigate well.

Self-care is your best friend. Staying as connected as YOU can, easing your own path, is your primary responsibility. That doesn’t make you uncaring about what you see as going wrong. It makes you well-prepared to deal with whatever comes your way from a place of clarity and connection. Your work in that regard can serve an an umbrella against the storm.

Coming Week In Tarot

This week for the outlook, we have the Nine of Swords (Sorrow) and for advice, the Five of Swords Reversed (Compassion) from the Osho Zen Tarot. Ouch! This rendition is an especially interesting one. I always imagine this man sitting alone in a corner of his room at night, chastising himself for what he might have done differently. I think a lot of us do that on occasion. I also don’t see it ever being especially helpful.

Expect the coming week may include general worries, possibly guilt or a sense of isolation creeping in at times. This is a melancholy energy and I expect it to be floating around out in the wild. Incidentally, it may not be your personal energetic state–and if it’s not, please don’t adopt it! You have nothing to offer anyone else if you sink right down to the same vibration they are wrestling with, you know? It’s a good idea to learn to stay stable within your own energy no matter what’s going on elsewhere.

But if it is yours, that’s okay, too. You can manage well enough. We all have those fluxes and learning to soothe ourselves and shift is a valuable skill.

Don’t look to others for solutions or reassurance. Don’t battle out with the rest of the population over what’s the best or most right or take any polls about how you should live your life (looking at you, Libra)!

Instead, remind yourself you are doing the best you can, and that your best is always enough. Pull back from any issues of contention and just shoot for comfort. Self-care is always a viable and frankly, wise choice.

Be kind to yourself. Don’t worry about what anyone else things or does or is. It’s their job to decide what’s right for them and how they feel about things. It’s your job to do the same for you.

Take an easy, gentle approach to the week and look for opportunities for levity and it will go better for you.

Ill-informed Urges: Weekly Tarot, April 24-30, 2017

You ever get that itch, to DO something, deal with something right-this-very-second–not so much because you think the issue is ripe for the undertaking, but more because you just want it d-o-n-e-done? That? I call it “crisis mode” and I became well acquainted with the state during custody hearings years ago and many times since, as a parent. Because parenting can be hard.

But really, that urge to “get this shit over with” never really did much helpful that I can tell. Faith goes further.

This week, I’d suggest you soothe yourself and do as little as possible to get immediate relief and nothing beyond that, if you are feeling that way.

Plenty of Swords in the coming week’s forecast–some worry and clouded presentations to be anticipated. Information isn’t complete or clear cut and the urge to act anyway grows. I’d say don’t do anything drastic, though, because it seems likely it WILL NOT turn out as intended. Force won’t work. Just little seeds you can plant (Ace of Pentacles), some of which may grow up nicely. Mmm’kay?

Hi. This is Dixie from A Fool’s Journey. I am here to do your Tarot forecast for April 24th through 30th, 2017.

Okay. Let’s see what we got here. Boom, boom, boom. I’ve got the Gilded Tarot deck. It’s a pretty deck. I love this deck.

Oh goodness. Swords, swords, cups…ah.

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at this, is…sigh. A lot of questionable words going around, and people who think they know what’s going on, but they don’t necessarily know. The truth.

We’ve got King of Swords, Nine of Swords, and Seven of Cups reversed to start. So going into the week there’s a sense of, maybe you were sort of clear on it to begin with, but then you start worrying about it and the guilt sets in.

And there are all these other inputs. Or sources of information that’s just kind of mucking things up. So eh. Be aware of that.

Okay? Moving in, going through the week, I’m seeing this, Seven of Swords reversed, Three of Swords reversed, as a tendency to want to hide what you find, what you think others will find unacceptable.

And not only what you think, but what you feel like. Like somebody, you know, lying to their boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever. Or hiding an expenditure from their spouse. It has that kind of feel to it to me.

And the worry being that there’s not gonna be love or acceptance. That really doesn’t feel very good. We end the week with action, although I don’t know necessarily that it’s inspired action. Because it’s the High Priestess reversed. So the outcome of this is something does happen, but I’m not sure if it’s what we want to happen.

But…to clarify it, I pulled a secondary card on that and I got Ace of Pentacles. So in this, do, do the least that you can.

We’ve got a lot of planets retrograde. It’s kind of a murky, mucky time. So do, do what relieves a little bit of the pressure, but don’t, like, “Okay. This has to be a grand gesture, this is gonna fix everything that’s ever been wrong!” ‘Cause how often does that crap work, anyway? You know?

But in this case, little bit, little bit, little bit, okay? And then for the outcome/advice, I have got Justice reversed. Um, don’t try to force what you consider to be fair, because that will throw you off balance.

Your balance, your happiness, your peace of mind, you comfort level in your own head and in your own life and in your own little circle is THE MOST important thing! That’s your job. It’s not your job to fix your kids or your spouse or your coworkers or your neighbors or your Facebook friends. It’s your job to take care of you! Do what you need to do to do that; let everybody else do their own jobs.

Icing on the Cake: Tarot Forecast, Jan 30 – Feb 4, 2017

I blame astrology–but one recurring theme of my life has been people that I care about exiting–sometimes quite dramatically.

I know, I know, we all deal with this to one degree or another. But it’s been notable for me, at least to me. It’s been a function of my life for many, many years. Important relationships, poof! Friends, sure, but also close family. I have not always taken this well mind you, but maturity has helped me make a lot of progress on that front.

This feature of being me has given the opportunity to find lots and lots of different perspectives on the phenomena. And being who I am, I always look for the perspective that feels best to me.

Our connections, meaningful as they are to us, giving so much fun and love and healing and growth, are all interludes in our lives. We each live inside our own hearts and heads with our own, unique perspectives and no amount of explanation or persuasion can fully admit another. And that’s beyond okay; it’s how this works. That’s how we’re built. It’s a gift, really, when we can share bits and pieces of it with another, but wholly unnecessary for a happy life.

Think of it like icing on the cake. It’s great to have icing but with or without, the cake still tastes good.

This week coming up? It’s a lot like that. The only thing that really matters is sticking true to who you are. This is your cake. Let the universe ice it.

This week’s forecast audio…

The week as a whole may require you to step back a bit to get your orientation, so take your time and let the week’s events roll over you. There is a very clear flow to this forecast, gradual and progressive. I’m seeing/feeling plenty of hysteria out in the wild–so you’ll have to make the choice to opt out if you’d prefer not to ride on that train. Disciplined focus and a determination to feel good are your tickets to a better experience.

Especially notable in this week’s draw is the number of Sevens–the sixteen of the Tower reduces to seven, and we’ve got the Sevens of Wands, Pentacles, and Cups, along with the Chariot, Seven in the Major Arcana! Tarot Sevens offer a clarifying force: focus, drive, and turn points are often called into play. There’s also a sense in Tarot sevens of being separate, standing alone to make one’s decisions while the rest of the world does whatever it does. So if you keep that in mind, you’ll have more success.

Let’s hop on in to the day-by-day and see what we’ve got going.

Monday, Rebuild (Tower) – This angel has lots of heart energy going on…a very soft interpretation of the Tower. Take wherever you are, make peace and start focusing on what you want. Read: focusing NOT on what’s wrong, what might be wrong, how long it will be wrong, how to force the wrong out of your experience. Focus on what you want, and ways you can add that energy in your life. Focus is not the devastation, but the rebuilding. This works from applying it to yourself, all the way out: to your family, neighborhood, country, or world. I recommend focusing on what you want to build!

Tuesday, Strengthening Bonds (Ace of Pentacles) – Look for common ground. You disagree on 25 things with your neighbor but agree on two? Focus on and explore the two you agree upon! That’s the basis for moving forward. That is the only space in which progress is possible.

Wednesday, Base Chakra + Love (The Lovers) – Security and stability comes from the heart, not external circumstances. If you want to offer that to others, or find it for yourself, come at it form a heart space. Look for and express love and kindness. Focus on the energy of love and kindness to activate the vibration of love and kindness. If you are feeling a bit alone, to activate more love, focus your attention on things that help bring out that energy for you. A pet you love, food or a movie, whatever, doesn’t matter what it is. Just feel the appreciation, as appreciation is the same family of vibration as love, so it will activate love. Love is always good medicine.

Thursday, Choose your Battles (Seven of Wands) – Self-explanatory, don’t you think? Trying to get others to be you is always a losing proposition, so I never recommend it. ‘Nuff said.

Friday, Awaiting Results (Seven of Pentacles) – Don’t push to know all the details, how it’s all going to be, now, now, now, now, now. Set out your intentions and be clear, and let the world morph around your clarity and focus of feelings. The results of the vibration you’re offering will settle themselves.

Saturday, Daydreams and Decisions (Seven of Cups) – Lots of visions dancing in your head. Mentally a very active time. You get to decide what you focus on. Let your mind wander, sure, but steer it towards the “wouldn’t it be great if…” end of the scale. Make any necessary decisions, WHILE you’re in a good feeling place.

Sunday, Move (Chariot) – We’ve had some clarification this week. Monday, we decided what we want. Tuesday, we searched for common ground. Wednesday, we helped ourselves and others feel a bit more secure, coming from a heart-centered place. Thursday, we acknowledged not everything is worth fighting about, Friday, we sat back to let the flow come. Saturday, we get into a good-feeling place with our imagination and make decision from that good-feeling place. Sunday, you may have the option to take some action on it–inspired action, that comes from being connected, plugged in and being in a good place.

Overview/Advice, Darkest Fears (Nine of Swords) – Some of what you feel is “wrong” is worry, imagination used against yourself. Understand the yucky feelings you may have may not be premonition signaling an eventuality, but more born of personal fears. Look for where you can come together with the portion of your experience, however humble it may be, that you find is representative of what you want to see. I don’t mean come together to complain! Look for areas of commonality, harmony and agreement. This will help soothe and even out your energy, giving you more clarity. It’s a step towards living a happy life, which is kind of why we’re here.

Starling Advice: Tarot Forecast, Jan 9 -15

Our office window birdfeeder has attracted a string of different birds, and I watch them come and go. Lots of finches, because hey, finches run in packs. The cardinals come, often both Mr. and Mrs. And just like old, married couples, they start to look alike after a while. The big blue jays that grab the big nuts and glide off. Warblers galore and beautiful bird songs off and on all day.

The Starlings have really been speaking to me, standing out. But then again, they were kind of born to stand out, no? With the iridescent sheen and the little dots like stars in the night sky, how could you miss them?

Starlings are known for being gregarious birds–and for their imitations. They imitate not only many other birds, but also mimic environmental sounds and have local dialects. They are studied for insight into the development of language.

And while they are fairly aggressive birds, they also know how to work in in a group. The grace of their flock dances defy description.

This is a week to be as the Starlings would suggest–be your beautiful, iridescent self, always. Of course. Don’t shy back and hide, but stay flexible in your communication. Keep your action in keeping with what you want to be about, you know? Going with the flow, (gracefully) is highly recommended.

Lots of Pentacles coming up, with a smattering of swords. So we’ve got our primary focus on results, concrete, physical, flesh and blood manifestations. Not so much emotional focus or mental focus.Outcomes are emphasized over conceptual issues. So let’s dive in!

Monday, Nine of Pentacles rx:  Don’t nitpick. Upright, this card shows a very refined, clean approach. Reversed, something is not quite there yet, missing a little something. But relax into it and understand it’s a process, just like you’re a work in progress. It’s fine, wherever you’re at in it. Enjoy and appreciate what IS working right and don’t make a big deal about what is still coming into refinement.

Tuesday, Page of Pentacles: You will begin to get some clarity on the types of issues bothering you yesterday. The message will be recieved. Look for it and work with it.

Wednesday, The Empress: Great day for creative pursuits. The Empress is the Tarot mama. Great day also for self care (and isn’t creativity a form of self care)? Great day to make something, bake something, nurture someone else or yourself. A warm, fuzzy day. So enjoy it.

Thursday, Ace of Wands rx: May be a delay getting started on something you wanna get rolling. That’s okay! Don’t stress, just let it be. It will come together in time. Let it go and keep on doing what you’re doing.

Friday, Five of Pentacles rx: Possibility for overreaction. I’m seeing a kid crying themselves silly after dropping an ice cream cone. Overreaction to small losses due a limited perspective. However you feel is fine. I’m not saying to feel bad over how you feel. Just don’t amp up unhappy thoughts by playing them on autoloop. If you’re feeling like something is a really, really big deal today, fair enough. It matters because it’s important to you. But do what you can to soothe yourself and understand with a little perspective, you will see it differently.

Saturday, Three of Swords rx: Adjusting to something you want that feels missing. Reversed, it’s an opportunity for healing if you’ll allow it. It’s a choice, what feelings you ramp up vs. what you let go. It’s within your capacity and any rawness there is actually on the mend.

Sunday, Four of Pentacles rx: A little anxiety going down. It’s not necessarily based in reality. I’m seeing this as internal. Very much what’s going on in the head, not in the world. You may be anxious or there may be a rawness in the world at large. So look to soothe the anxiety without trying to take action to “correct” the situation.

Overview/Advice, Nine of Swords rx: Anxiety or guilt may be players, with some having difficulty sleeping this week. Let go as much as you can because the Self-Blame Express ain’t doing anything useful for anybody. If you do the “what if, what if, what if” disaster scenarios, stop! You’re amping up unrest. Try to catch yourself quickly before it picks up steam and is harder to redirect. And your week will feel so much nicer, even if the objective circumstances are exactly the same. Pretty neat trick, don’t you think?

Affirmation: When I reverse the thought, I reverse the condition. Sorry if you’re not a Law of Attraction person. But the idea is, there is nothing in life that cannot be changed. You use your emotions as your guide. For example, if you have chronic pain–it’s hard to ignore, in your face. You don’t have a choice as to where you are with that in the moment it’s happening, other than how you think about it.

You can have that pain and feel angry, scared, or frustrated. You can also have it and feel hopeful, believing it will get better, or intentionally distracted by other things. The pain may be the exact same physical manifestation, but the experience of it is much different. You may be in a place you don’t want to be. You can either suffer a great deal by dumping unhappiness on top of it, or you can reach for the best feeling, most optimistic thought you have access to. If you reach for better-feeling, what you live is the best you have access to in the moment. How justified any feelings are doesn’t matter pragmatically. If I’m choosing between justified anger or unjustified happiness? No contest.

Grab onto the best-feeling thoughts you have access to and ride them up. Over time it will raise your vibration and improve your experience without regard to outside conditions.You see how there is freedom in being able to always pull yourself back to center? Just keep bringing yourself back, bringing yourself back, again and again and you’ll find your life shifting in ways you really like.

Stay in the flow and you’ll fare well, even if it takes you a minute to realize.

Mood Management: Tarot Forecast, Jan 2 – 8, 2017

Sometimes when I’m out and about, people will come up to me to comment on my hair.

Some are complimentary, or they tell me I’m brave. That amuses me a little.

Because I’m not scared of hair color. I’m not scared of looking funny for a little while if something goes weird. But most of all (and what they are usually talking about), I’m not scared of other people disapproving of me.

Happens all the time.

Really, I like when that happens. As we live as true to ourselves as possible, others will disapprove. Which is quite convenient, if you ask me. The ones that don’t vibe with me get pre-sorted out, no fuss. They can be with their people and I, with mine.

Reactions are personal to the reactor, not the recipient. Reactions are never really about what that person is seeing so much as they are about how an individual interprets what they see. There is always a filter of belief coloring reaction.

We get to pick, what beliefs to hold. We get to filter the color of our own reactions. That’s a useful little trick, right there.

My sense of the coming week is like subjectivity on steroids. It’s feeling watery as Hell. Whether one likes the sensation or not all that much, it behoves us all to wide whatever waves we’ve got as best we can, no? Plus we can get some fun out of the deal.

Monday, Ace of Cups. There is a bit of a feeling of a fresh start. Reflective mood. Where have I been? Where am I going? Time to consider where you’re at emotionally. Contemplation will come naturally.

Tuesday, Strength rx: Just a little bit of impatience. All those fresh starts of the New Year may just not be as instant as you’d prefer. To deal, focus on one thing, one area of attention, and in that area, take one concrete, tangible act. If you intend to keep a nicer space, don’t feel overwhelmed. Pick up one small area, and fix THAT. The feelings of being overwhelmed and impatient can be sidestepped by allowing yourself more breathing space. It will help.

Wednesday, Nine of Swords upright: Pegging this as worry. Suspicion or paranoia possible. Trust is a bit elusive. If anything is not clear to you today, let it sit and clarify. It will clarify and your perceptions may be murky. No need to jump right on top of ambiguous stimuli. A lot of unrest is internal, so let the fog clear before drawing conclusions.

Thursday, The Magician: The garden grows according to what you plant. The finished building runs according to the foundation you lay. What you have now is an outcropping of what you laid down initially. Realize where you are is according to how you lay down the foundation. Not from a judgey/self-critical space. From a standing-in-your-personal power space. Focus and prioritize feeling good to reclaim your power.

Friday, Page of Pentacles Rx: Easy to drop a detail. Easy to miss a little something or other. Doublecheck and take your time. Go back over plans and give ’em a second readthrough. Be flexible. I’m seeing lateness, little annoyances. Be prepared for minor slowdowns, one thing at a time, easy on the multitasking, things will go smoother. Potential for miscommunication, someone “not getting the message” so be aware.

Saturday, Two of Pentacles rx: Something could easily fall through the cracks. I’m seeing someone oversleeping their alarm, missing a plane, etc. Have backup plans in place, and give yourself space to pick up any dropped stitches because there will be some. Then you’ll be sitting pretty.

Sunday, Four of Pentacles: Some ups and downs throughout the week, but a lot of them are just perceptual. This some rest and ease in stability. Some rest. You can exhale today.

Overview/Advice, Ten of Cups: Have as much fun as you can during the week. Don’t judge on terms of outside conditions. Judge in terms of how you feel, and prioritize your feelings. Many times in the choice between looking for a thought that feels good vs. accurate assessments, we choose accurate because we don’t want to feel foolish. But I’d argue to always assume the best. Even if you know it’s not all warm and fuzzy, it’s okay to remember it has nothing to do with you. Put lots of emphasis on being as happy as you can and it will make motion forward much easier.

Affirmation: I can deliberately reach for joyous thoughts. You don’t have control over many outside conditions. There are lots of things any of us look at and will think, this can be better. We all have the choice, how involved we want to be in other people’s heads, or do we want to just reach for joyous thoughts? Every disaster thus far has worked out. Look at what you feel better thinking.

The quality of the experience is about mood managements. You may not initially think it’s within your control but it is.
