One Step After Another: Weekly Tarot Flow, Oct 5 – 11

Thor my warrior kitten really did a number on me last time I was doing forecast layouts. I kept moving him back, back, back and he was ready to attack as you can see from the picture. It was really difficult to photograph the cards and do my thing with little, needle-like claws and teeth sunk into my forearm.

I let him in because I love the pictures with him exploring the cards–and okay, I’m a sucker for a crying kitten. But because I didn’t eject him from the room, I got pretty scratched up. And I have to take responsibility for that.

Sort of like this week’s forecast: I was acting as if I didn’t have any choice in my pain. But in reality, I just couldn’t have everything I wanted: a happy kitten, cute pictures and an easy, painless process completing my forecast. Thor was being true to his predator nature and acting on his need to play. He wasn’t trying to hurt me, although I did leave the room bloodied.

But the fault is mine: I was expecting him to conform to my desires and needs, without a realistic consideration for his.

You see where this is going?

This week starts out on a challenging note, but eases up after Wednesday as Mercury prepares to go direct on Friday. (YAY!) What I like especially is that the advice and affirmation cards drawn give us very clear and easy-to-implement guidance for dealing with any stressors that come our way.

Monday, Six of Swords reversed/Healing Begins: Reversed, this is hesitation to make necessary transitions. When change comes calling in our lives, we generally have a limited choice: easy or hard. And by “easy” I don’t mean not low effort or little friction and adjustment. In this context, easy means voluntarily! Because “hard” is kicking and screaming all the way. Just let me put it this way: denial is not a functional defense here. Recognize what’s not right for you so that you can begin transitioning to what is, hard trek or no. Moon in Cancer.

Every journey is not just begun one step at a time. It's completed the same way. Click To Tweet

Tuesday, Seven of Swords reversed/Seek Truth: Don’t hide from what you see. You don’t have to fully interpret it yet, let alone act on it. But note it, okay? Not just the parts you like. Don’t let your ego trip you up! Observation is recommended, with a detached, nonjudgemental air if at all possible. But you practice that already, right? Moon and Venus enter Leo.

Wednesday, Base Chakra + Five of Wands/Challenging Times: I’m not liking the looks of today! Sorry. Be aware of potential conflicts and threats to your basic security. Is someone posing a danger to yourself or your loved ones? Don’t ignore the warning signs, and the weird feeling that crops up in the pit of your stomach. Be ready to stand up for what matters. I’m not trying to be alarmist or anything. But stay frosty out there, okay? Hope I’m WAY off base for you! Moon in Leo.

Thursday, Eight of Swords reversed/Helpless and Hopeless: Reversed, this card points to an open window that allows exit from a stagnant situation. It makes me think of Skinner’s box and the concept of learned helplessness. Don’t assume you cannot affect change. Just take a step to free yourself, questioning all the rules you’ve put in place to maintain the status quo. Moon enters Virgo.

Friday, Nine of Wands/Rest & Reconsider: Deep breath. Allow the last few days to integrate into your consciousness and regroup your energy. Good day to take it easy. You know I’m going to suggest my favorite universal solutions, right? Time with loved ones, quiet time in nature and as always, naps are heartily endorsed! Give yourself a break to end the work week. You deserve it. Hello, Mercury direct! Moon in Virgo.

Saturday, Ace of Cups/Love Abounds: Immerse yourself in loving energy of any flavor–creative, familial, romantic, or gratitude based. Joy is the flavor of the day, so partake heartily. ♥ Moon in Virgo.

Sunday, Seven of Pentacles/Awaiting Results: Take stock of all the progress you’ve made and count it for goodness sakes! We focus so much on our shortcomings or not-quite-there bits. Acknowledge the long term work you’ve done and how far you’ve progressed. Efforts ARE starting to pay out, if you’re wondering. Yes, that’s what you are seeing. Woot! Moon enters Libra.

Overview/Advice, Six of Pentacles/Giving & Receiving: Be generous in every sense of the word, including the oft-overlooked form of generosity–allowing others to help you, too. You cannot only give without taking, any more than it’s right to only take without giving. Most of us are emotionally comfortable with only one side of that equation, which varies according to the individual. True balance demands we partake of both.

Affirmation: My emotions are vibrational interpreters. How frequently do you talk yourself out of listening to your gut? How often do we call ourselves “silly, stupid, overreacting, irrational” or something similar? When I say “do a gut check,” I mean listen to those feelings you get–especially the ones that “make no sense.” That is exactly how Spirit communicates to you!

A long time ago, early on in my spiritual seeking, I asked a reader, “How do I know when I’m on the right track, spiritually?” There was so much to consider, so many options that it just felt overwhelming trying to suss out what choices were right, which direction to go.

He smiled broadly. “Joy. Let joy be your guide.” As if it were so very, very simple.

Let joy be your guide. It leads to truth. #quotes Click To Tweet

But you know what? It is. It is just that simple.

Transformations and growth can be hard for sure, and even I’m not Pollyanna enough to suggest everything we’re faced with in life is joyful. I got that. But when you’re looking to navigate, check in with your heart. Look to follow even the faintest scent of joy if that’s all you’ve got and it will help you find your bearings.

So if you need a touchstone any time throughout this week, remember to graciously accept and receive generosity, and always seek joy. That will get you through any rough patches!

Are you as ready as I am for Mercury to go direct so we can just GET ON with this?

Purge Fest: Weekly Flow Tarot, June 22 – 28

weekly tarot forecaset

What’s not working for you? Because the majority of this week seems to be about purging what isn’t working. You know. Like a cat walking across your weekly Tarot layout.

I’ll be honest. I advise that OTHER PEOPLE purge a lot more than I manage to accomplish myself. Does that make me a hypocrite? It’s so much easier to give advice than take it!

But really? I think it’s time…

It will lighten your load a lot, if you clean out the closets, both literally and metaphorically. If you’re feeling stuck, particularly, letting go of old junk, which holds old energy, will do wonders. If it’s overwhelming, don’t worry. Just do a little bit at a time and you’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it makes.

So let’s get our work gloves on here and get busy with the week, shall we?

Monday, Passion Ignited – Knight of Wands: A day full of joy and excitement! I like this one. It may be romantic, creative or just plain doing what you love to do. But it’s clearly a day to get excited. Enjoy it! There are challenges coming so make the most of this.

Tuesday, Deception & Envy – Eight of Pentacles reversed: Jealous coworkers? Beware. Strained partnerships? Watch for some truth-bending or plain ol’ jealousy coming into play. If something isn’t quite working, look to jealousy as potential cause. Don’t hold on to it. Just be aware of it, as a factor.

Wednesday, Moving on – The Emperor: One word here–boundaries. Set (and enforce) them to move ahead. Ignore them at your own peril. M’kay?

Thursday, Material Harvest – The Tower reversed: Finances may take a hit, but not the end of the world. Whatever is crumbling down, is already broken. Denying it doesn’t fix it. You have a chance to fix it up before it reaches critical mass. I’d advise doing just that.

Friday, Material & Spiritual Prosperity – Nine of Wands reversed: Perseverance is a virtue and sometimes, damn useful. Bull-headedness? Meh, not so much. Ask for help if you need it. And as Kenny Rogers said, “Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em.” You’ll get further realizing that sometimes, stepping back is the best course of moving forward.

Saturday, Disruption – The Empress reversed: No smothering! This looks like mommy time (or a “mommy attitude”) run amok. Don’t be overly (or uninvitedly) parental to the people around you, unless, you know, you’re actually the parent. On the other hand, someone suffering an emotional blow or setback may require more “mothering” energy than normal. Just be sensitive to how you are connecting to others and whether or not you’re coming across as parental.

Sunday, Conflict & Defeat – Four of Wands reversed: Today is all about safety zones. If you don’t have one or cannot provide it for someone else, it’s…just sad. That’s all. Honor the need for safe space. Appreciate those who offer it to you, and treat it as sacred space whatever safe harbor you offer to someone else. Whatever you do, absolutely do not violate another’s trust. Trust transgressions made today will not be easily forgotten.

Overview/Advice – Three of Cups reversed: Make your own decisions. Friends are the bomb, no doubt! But live your own life. You’re the one who has to tolerate the consequences of your actions.

Affirmation, Clear Your Space – Archangel Jophiel: “Get rid of clutter, clear the energy around you, and use feng shui.” The overall theme I’m seeing this week is on letting go of what is not working. It’s clearing your space to make way for the new–figuratively, sure, but also literally. Clearing the decks is essential. This is not always an easy or fun process, but it is always a necessary one.

Do you need a good purge?

Choose Peace. Weekly Tarot Flow, Mar 30 – Apr 5

I’ve had a really, really difficult time getting this forecast written. My blogging software has eaten it multiple times now. The browser even crashed when I started to write it online. Makes me kind of wonder.

Is that an omen?

BooBut I’m really trying. And I’m not giving up. That’s kind of what I’m expect it’s going to take for success this week. It’s been a really long time since I’ve seen this many inverted cards, folks. Seven out of eight Tarot cards agree, it’s not going to be a smooth-flowing week. Not that I equate that with bad. I just think it’s best to be up-front here, you know?

And of course, we’ve got a Blood moon this week, a full lunar eclipse coming up April 4th, in Libra. It’s hitting my chart and I’m not sure what to expect exactly–hello, we’re talking eclipse! But it’s part of a cycle of full lunar eclipses (called a tetrad) that started back April 15, 2014, also in Libra. So you might want to think back to that time, not so much exactly what was happening then, but perhaps the processes, the changes that began around that time. This is the third in the cycle, with the final one being Sept. 27, 2015 in Scorpio.

Just a little something to be aware of.

In terms of the week coming up…I pulled cards from the Psychic Tarot Oracle to give us the topical realm, and pulled from the Tarot Nova for the forecasting bit.

Tarot-March-30-April-5-Forecast

Monday, Positive Movement Forward – The Star: Well, this is a very optimistic start for the week! I would not be surprised to hear some encouraging news or hopeful signs. Yay! Make the most out of this, folks.

Tuesday, Mental Conflict – Six of Pentacles reversed: How much generosity is appropriate? Pay your own bills before picking up someone else’s tab. It’s helpful to remember which problems are legitimately your own to solve and judge what you can offer while still feeling joyful.  Another way this energy to could materialize is in the question, how much can you overlook? I’m inclined to suggest “benefit of a doubt,” provided that option won’t put you in a perilous position. Realize that objectively “knowing” another’s motivations isn’t always important. Sometimes, we may choose to assume the best simply because it’ doesn’t cost us to do so, and we’re happier that way. Be pragmatic and assume the best if it doesn’t cost you to do so.

Wednesday, the Universe – Wheel of Fortune reversed: If it looks like bad luck, try to consider it in a broader context. Don’t let the little picture get you down, because the little picture changes frequently and quickly. Don’t think, “I cannot take any more trees falling on me!” Think, “This forest path is lovely.” Or something along those lines.

Thursday, Choose Wisely – Nine of Wands reversed: Do not be stubborn for the sake of winning. Be stubborn if it’s important to you, really matters. Let it go if not. If you hear yourself saying anything about “the principle of the thing,” you may want to reconsider. Is the principle in play pride?

Friday, Love Begins – The Hermit reversed: Do not stand on tradition today. And do not isolate. Open up your heart, and act accordingly. Be very genuine, even if (especially if) your version of genuine is not typical. You can only do this effectively if you know yourself pretty well, though. You do, right?

Saturday, Recognition and Reward – Death reversed: Happy Eclipse! Have you been to Hell and back (or made it most of the way back)? Because this looks like an acknowledgement of what you’ve learned on that trip. It’s like a whiff of transformation is in the air. Celebrate your not inconsiderable progress. It’s not quite done, but getting there.

Sunday, The Waiting Game – Ten of Wands reversed:  Release, release, release! Release attachments to “how things must be.” Release responsibility that is not yours. Release unnecessary burdens. Release unwanted physical items. Great day for a purge. You want to know, when things are going to click together? To get there from here, we’re looking to let go. That’s the key.

Overview/Advice – The Chariot reversed: Stay flexible and don’t get fixated on a specific outcome. We most likely don’t have the whole picture yet. You can know what you’re going for overall, but a good chance you wouldn’t recognize the final form at this point, you know?

Affirmation – “Shanti: I am the angel of peace. I bring you new tranquility and a smoother road ahead.” I’ll take it! But yeah, in terms of making use of this as an affirmation…look for peace. Look for tranquility. This can be another exercise in letting go, in looking to see the best in people, or dismissing the worst offenders from your life. Whether you are deciding there was no ill intention or whether you dismiss someone from your life, either way you’re choosing peace. You know?

Choose peace. Every time and every place you can. Choose peace.

How’s your week looking, friends? You faring okay with the eclipses?

Two-Step Forward Tango: Weekly Flow Tarot, Dec 29 – Jan 4

Tarot Dec 29 - Jan 4

As I look this over, I think of the bit I just read today from my friend Josi, on the 1st quarter moon.

“It is quite common to encounter blocks to intentions at this time. These blocks are not necessarily horrible. Sometimes they are small things that we overcome quite easily. But what they do is put that challenge in front of you so you can walk through the whole assessment thing. You stop, consider your goal, consider the challenge and then decide if you still want to follow through. ” –Josi Case

That’s what this week looks like to me. Challenges and reassessing—two steps forward, one step back in a perhaps-frustrating-but-probably-fruitful dance. I think this is the kind of week that won’t make sense in the middle. It’s only after the fact we’ll realize what all happened. You know what I mean?

Monday, Goal- Magician reversed: The goal is not to have to force each and every little bit of the process. We want a little flow without having to “make it happen” utterly and entirely. Since we’re talking “goal,” that means we’re not there yet.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Six of Cups:  A wish for things to be simpler, less complicated. This is a desire to let go, relax and trust the first person who stands before us. It’s a wish for a sense of innocence. In the position of “unconscious desires,” you may not be aware of just how strong this drive actually is. Be sure you’re not inadvertently overlooking the obvious or blindly trusting today. Not saying things ARE complicated or people ARE untrustworthy. For all I know, that’s not so. But factor the weight of personal desire out of the evaluation algorithm.

Wednesday, Partner, Nine of Wands reversed: The partner here is tired and wants to just let go. Expect this, and offer a hand if appropriate.

Thursday, Future – Strength reversed: You don’t have to hold out forever. But for now? Yeah. Hang on, slow, steady and gentle.

Friday, Disappointment – Chariot reversed: This is a detour. Disappointment over getting sidetracked. Even reversed, the Chariot is a pretty positive card. But I’m reading this as impatience with a delay. Sorry!

Saturday, Blocked or Covering – Queen of Swords: We need a release, and one not based on emotional consideration. Where are you overbooked, overworked, unable to keep up? What ball doesn’t really belong in your court? What habit must you give up in order to reach your goal? What’s weighing you down, or in your way? That’s the root of the detour, right there.

Sunday, Past – Five of Pentacles: The Five of Pentacles is nobody’s favorite card (at least, that I know of), but hey…it’s in the position of “past.” That helps. I see this as longing for something now gone, feeling a loss of old. It could be as simple as mourning a loss of innocence from Tuesday’s “unconscious desire.” It could be feeling Saturday’s realization, which cannot really be taken back. Honor whatever feelings you have, but reach out to your support system as well. I find there is always a support system available when I see this card; people are often just reluctant to invoke it.

Advice/Overview – The Moon: This week is a very small, and in some ways deceptive part of the picture. A lot of grounding and reassurance can take place via reframing. Work a little magic with your words, focusing on the where you’re going over where you’ve been. The moon is the realm of both magic and madness, so work the magic hard to skip the crazy part.

AffirmationListen to your heart. When we’ve got a challenging stint facing us, doing the best we can, doing what we feel good about deep down inside, is a sort of insurance. This is a way you can live without regret, so long as you know you’ve always done the best you know how to do. I used to ask my kids when facing dilemmas, “What would you feel good about?” I suspect this may be a useful question to ask yourself this week, focused only on yourself. What would I feel good about doing? Whatever it is, do that.

How’s your week looking?

Life’s White Spaces: Weekly Flow Tarot, Dec. 22 – 28

Tarot Dec 22 -28

Happy Solstice/New Moon! There is unquestionably some magic on tap, but it’s a Capricorn new moon. So you have to turn on the faucet yourself.

This looks to be a very transitional week. I’m reminded of cleaning out a closet to make way for new clothing, or clearing out a room so someone can move in. Looking at next week as a whole, it strikes me as a mix of emotion and action. But the twist is that most of the “action” potential is rooted in inaction. Big happenings are settling into life’s white spaces—what’s not is as important (or more so) than what is. It’s what you are not doing, not saying, not forcing, that opens up the room to allow. Even saying that is making me feel all existentialist or something. But let’s hit the highlights, day by day.

Monday, Question – The Hanged Man: The question here is one of inaction. Maybe not what you should do, so much as what you should leave alone. For any situations where you are feeling unsure, faith and allowing situations to play out is the recommended strategy.

Tuesday, What to Take from the Past – Page of Cups: Strong, loving heart energy is what you want to access today. Jaded and loving don’t mix. Look a for a pure, uncomplicated, and heart-centered approach. No finesse or relationship management required or desired. I won’t say it’s necessarily easy. It requires a sometimes staunch faith to execute. Some might call this naïve or simplistic. I call it potent, very potent energy.

Wednesday, Hobbies and Talents – Four of Cups: Pastimes and activities you enjoy are a form of meditation. They definitely allow a different perspective. These kinds of activities today may alert you to what you’re missing as much as what you have. You don’t have to seek these answers, by the way. The act of losing yourself in personal expression creates space in your head and your heart, not filled up with daily bustle. It provides a contrast so the points can be more readily perceived.

Thursday, What to Avoid – Four of Wands reversed: Merry Christmas! Advice? Be extra respective of other’s partners and family, even if you don’t feel all that enthused. Not the day to suggest a divorce to anybody! Now maybe this is common sense on a day people often spend with family or maybe not, but the reversed Four of Wands suggests not to disrupt any apple carts. What you don’t say counts! It’s also an important day to honor commitments.

Friday, Co-Workers – High Priestess: The High Priestess is another one of those between-the-lines energies. In the position of co-workers, it would suggest an unspoken understanding related to people you are partnering with. This could be work of course, project related. But it doesn’t have to be. It can speak to any flavor of joint project. Partners may know more than you think they do. Listen for what’s not said. If you are in doubt regarding your own behavior with co-workers, wait, hold back or remain silent. This is another example of the white spaces.

Saturday, Pros – Strength reversed: It’s interesting to find Strength reversed in the “Pros” position. I’m going to say having limits as to time, energy and resources is actually helpful today. It allows you to be human, and encourages you to grant yourself permission to let go of some things in order to direct your resources into others. Your strength shows up via energy freed by what you are not doing. White spaces.

Sunday, Resolution – Nine of Wands reversed: Problems are resolved via not being the last holdout! Stubbornness is not helpful today. Yesterday, we looked at how much was too much. Today, let the “too much” part go. That’s the resolution.

Advice/Overview – Chariot Reversed: Avoid singled-minded focus (read: myopic). The Chariot is indirect anyway. Reversed, it’s so indirect as to be confusing.

AffirmationClaim Your Boundaries: I spoke to someone recently about their circle, and how it’s shrinking. I had a rather vivid image, of a circle around the person, getting smaller and smaller. I don’t think of this as inherently bad. It’s like extract, the essence being accessed. The energy is not so watered down. Reducing a sauce by cooking it down, you know? You allow the heat and time to do it’s work. That’s what this coming week is about. New moons are for starting new projects, new energy patterns, but an inherent component of a new energy pattern is continuing, day by day, to release existing patterns. You have to have white space before it can be filled. Boundaries management is always a vital skill. But for this week, you’re not trying to direct the entire orchestra of everyone in your life. You’re not off to save the world or find the “magic right words” to teach kindness to someone on the internet. You are only regulating yourself. People get confused, thinking boundaries are about regulating the behavior others. They are not…otherwise, setting boundaries would be an impossible proposition. We cannot control anybody else. But boundaries never regulate others. Boundaires specify what you allow into YOUR experience. That is much, much simpler.

Are you noting some “white spaces” in your life?

Something Old, Something New: Weekly Tarot Flow, Nov. 17 -23

Tarot Flow Nov 17 -23

Somebody, somewhere said, “In every ending, there is a beginning.” That’s this week in a nutshell. A mash-up of endings leading to beginnings.

We’ve got a couple of Tarot Tens, which speak to wrapping things up, and a couple of Aces, which speak to starting something new. In between, there are choices, details, and a little shot of optimism. This could work! But it’s not all sunshine and roses, every minute. The bumps in the road look to be specifically related to integrating what you’ve learned so far into your now, your partnerships, and coming out the other end with a more solid, long-term vision for the future. You can do this!

Monday, Co-workers – Seven of Pentacles Reversed: Those damn people you work with just don’t always take the long term view Agh! Somebody needs to. Could it be you?

Tuesday, Past – Nine of Wands Reversed: What did you bail on before it was quite done? That’s the clean up left. Not a lot, but a little, and that little bit remaining is important.

Wednesday, Partner – Two of Swords: A choice to be made between you and your partner. Weight it out, and consider the facts. Take into account everyone’s needs, not just those of either self or other. Rational is the way to go here. Careful balancing will give you the best result. Be fair.

Thursday, Finances – Ace of Cups: A new financial opportunity…or even just a bit of optimism. A currently small but encouraging bright spot related to money.

Friday, Past Life – Wheel of Fortune Reversed: Something that seemed like bad luck at the time maybe was not. Why? It gave you something you needed, even if you didn’t know.

Saturday, You – Five of Swords: You can wipe up the floor with any opponents today. Don’t be a poor sport if you do, though.

Sunday, Pros – Ace of Pentacles: Efforts are especially productive today, even if it seems like just a “little bit.”

Advice/Overview – Ten of Cups: You can get your guidance this week form looking to your emotional states, and in particular which options you feel “at home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html” with. The best choices this week ring true to your heart, and feel consistent with your family heritage. In other words, those values you carry with you, possibly some so deep they seem to run in your blood? Honor them. Honor yourself. This will guide you.

Affirmation, Leadership – Archangel Gabriel: “It is time for you to assume your leadership power and position, and lovingly guide others.” In the context of this week’s reading, I’m seeing the need to be very clear about what works for you and take the lead on moving in that direction. The people that should be walking next to you down that path, will follow. Release attachment to who comes along. Release attachment to anyone else’s choices. Just make your own, and focus on maintaining a generous, loving attitude. Lead by example, and by conviction. A heart full of joy and love makes a very compelling example.

How’s your week looking?
