Page of Wands and Queen of Swords Rx: Rough Draft

I think of myself as borderline notorious for the “we’ll figure it out as we go” approach. I may play with ideas but I don’t studiously chart my course out, no matter what the goal. What others may see as chaotic, I see as inspiration-driven.

Doesn’t “inspired” sound nicer than “crazy?”

But when you live this way, you’ve got to cut yourself slack when your inspiration doesn’t turn out quite like you might expect. You get the signs, you feel the steps but the ending doesn’t come together the way you expected.

It doesn’t mean you have screwed up. It means the whole is still taking shape. It means what you saw as an end game isn’t necessarily all there is to it. It’s merely an edit, a bullet point in the draft of your bigger story.

I’m not seeing completed manuscripts next week. I’m seeing rough drafts.

Next Week in Tarot

Outlook is the Page of Wands, with advice coming from a reversed Queen of Swords, pictured here from tthe Radiant Rider-Waite.

I can’t help but thinking the blurriness of this image provides yet another clue of the energy we’ve got on deck. (Beside, faulting “this crazy energy” sounds much better than blaming my sub-standard photography skills, don’t you think?)

The Page of Wands is definitely passionate and more than a little idealistic. That’s all fine and well, so far as it goes. We just sometimes forget how youth impacts interpreting a page.

Pages are children. Though this guy’s outlook may be bold and his heart full of fire, his vision isn’t necessarily mature or wise. Far from it. Anytime you’ve got a page weighing in, you can figure whatever he’s representing is relatively undeveloped. He’s not the tiny sprout of an idea as shown by an Ace, but he likewise cannot speak with the mature and well-defined voice of King, either. He could grow into a competent king, but he ain’t there yet.

Next week, expect passion to overrule logic. People may insist on emotional gratification without the clue one as to what form such gratification could take. Practicalities are dismissed summarily in the face of strong feelings. They may say, “I’ll know it when I see it,” but you can take that more precisely to be, “I’ll know it when I FEEL it.”

Now, the reversed Queen of Swords offers interesting advice. When this lady is not aright, we’re cautioned to be especially careful of becoming over-critical or harsh as these are some of her potential weaknesses. It would be very easy to do more damage than good by picking apart someone else’s position.

Upright, this queen is frequently responsible for sorting out solutions, ruling out what is unworkable or impractical from from sound strategies that ensure progress. But as she came in reversed, timing isn’t conducive to full critical analysis or insightful discrimination between the workable and problematic. There isn’t enough information or personal clarity to do the job right at present. Facts may slow to come in and remember, that (wound up) page is still running the show.

Your best bet here is allowing yourself a step back from and and all emotional fervor. Assume good intentions all around and stifle urges to attack others based on differing perceptions.

It’s that “happy or right?” question revisiting. Even if you’re completely right (and you certainly may not be under these conditions), you can still blow it all up by forcing conversations on those not yet receptive.

Whether you’re most strongly identifying with that Page or the Queen, consider this moment in time to be akin to presenting a rather rough draft of the final work. Get your outline organized clearly and do a little self-editing before sending your words out.

Much love, my friends. Stay safe and sane out there! And if you want a little support working out your own draft, hit me up for a personal consult. You know where to find me.

Two of Cups & Page of Wands: Peace & Passion

I’m tired.

I had to get up up much, much earlier than my body wanted to accommodate repairmen. So I started this column in the morning but set it aside for lack of focus.

When I came back to it, I realized the cards weren’t merely showing me next week’s forecast. They were very succinctly setting my cranky butt straight over what’s been churning through my brain all day.

This is obviously a function of being tired, because Tarot never talks back to me like that otherwise.

Snort!

Seriously, though: I’m going to do my best to follow this advice not only the rest of the day, but next week and beyond. It’s damn good advice.

Next Week’s Tarot Forecast

I’m sticking with The Good Tarot for now because I’m still in the mood for a softer, prettier interpretation of life.

We’ve got the Two of Cups (Water) as outlook, which traditionally is depicted as a couple, sort of like a lesser version of The Lovers. For advice, there is the Page of Wands (or as she’s presented here, Messenger of Fire).

Now, the Two of Cups often heralds a young romance or the like, so it’s a welcome addition to any forecast. As with any Tarot card, there are layers you can unpack. My friend, Josi, prompted me to associate this card with making peace at some point, and it stuck.

You may not have any external interactions whatsoever. It’s not necessary, although it may be part of the mix. But whatever is weighing on your heart, you have the power to make peace with it right now.

Ruminating? Feeling misunderstood or underappreciated? It’s not anybody else’s job to value you. It’s your job to do it for yourself. The arguments you’re making in your head are ultimately with yourself.

The Two of Cups suggests we hold fast to optimism. Good intentions have been set and there’s unfailingly a hopefulness inherent in the energy of this card. People enter into relationships expecting everything to work out. While the future remains unrevealed and perhaps even anxiously anticipated, long-term expectations are nonetheless positive. People don’t enter into unions expecting those unions to break down.

It’s an encouraging outlook. We don’t know what we’re getting. But we are in the position to make peace with the ride anyway, holding out reasonable hope for safe and ultimately beneficial travels.

Furthermore, this little fiery Messenger giving advice would have us let our inner flames glow and grow–but more importantly, act on the fires of passion. Wands are the no-compromise family of the Tarot court.

Allow yourself to imagine successful scenarios and  move forward in that direction. You may have to alter course, but you won’t have to compromise the root, the true heart of your intentions. Just trust that you’ll work it out as you go along. Because you will.

Next week, make peace with wherever you are–or where the world is, whatever. This will help clear your head and settle the din so you can hear (and follow) the truest intentions of your heart. It’s so much less confusing when you’ve made your peace first.

Have a great week, friends. And if you want to schedule a one-on-one to work things through, give me a holler.

Page of Wands: Yelling it Like (You Believe) it is

Something’s been eating at me the last couple of days. I couldn’t quite put it into words until I read this story my friend, Josi, wrote on letting the heart speak.

There was something more important than being right in that moment. Being kind. Being honest. And, sharing how I really felt.” – Josi

The focus on being more “right,” better informed, and frankly, far more morally justified than one’s neighbor is strong right about now.

Personally, I don’t think I’ve ever been lectured into becoming a better human being. But it doesn’t mean people ain’t gonna try. Just look at these cards for next week…

Next Week in Tarot

For outlook this week, we have the Page of Wands (Fire), with advice being the Queen of Pentacles (Earth) reversed. These cards are from The Good Tarot deck.

People are speaking passionately–often, that reads as angrily. Fear is a great activator for anger and the fear is thick right now.

Messages coming from the Page of Wands may be brash or blurted, but are seldom moderated. Dump a lack of tact into a mix of uncertainty and you’ve got explosive potential. Expect next week to be full of people telling one another what’s-what in no uncertain terms. Expect those others being told to push back.

Furthermore, understand both sides of these arguments near-universally believe they are holding the moral high ground while smacking one another back and forth.

Advice for the week–the reversed Queen of Pents–would suggest not to be the one to light the fuse on any firecrackers or “truth bombs” or whatever you want to call it. Step back. Take no action. Do not feed your own voice into the noise when you’re feeling all wound up and self-righteous because I can guarantee you, it almost certainly will do no good.

Now, I’m not even suggesting many of the folks a-yellin’ aren’t objectively “right.” Or maybe your clever comebacks are more “right.” Or somebody is partially right and the others are or are not or what the Hell ever. I don’t know and in utter frankness, I don’t care.

The bigger picture, the higher truth, isn’t a specific set of facts. The higher calling is giving a damn about both yourself and your fellow human beings.

The higher calling is kindness. The higher calling is compassion.

The higher calling is LOVE.

Of course, we aren’t going to feel loving full on 24/7/365, especially in the midst of stress and uncertainty. And that’s fine. But neither will anybody else. You need to give not only each other but also yourself plenty of space and understanding in this regard.

My advice is pretty simple. as usual: If you want to share your perspective or make your case, great! Just make sure you do so ONLY when you’ve reached a point you can speak from a loving place. There is a whole lot better chance your words will hit the mark to be heard if you tune in your heart before you let your mouth take over. And yes, I’ll say it: this is never bad advice. It’s just extra timely right now.

Don’t forget what matters. And stay safe out there, friends!

~Dix

p.s. Give me a holler for a personal consult if you think it would help. I’m more than willing to work with you on fees if that’s an issue right now. We’ve gotta look out for one another.

Living the Microcosm: Weekly Tarot, May 1 – 7, 2017

“If you keep telling yourself the exact same stories about this, you’ll keep having the exact same feelings.”

I heard myself saying this to a friend recently. And like most of my best advice, it’s just as (annoyingly) applicable to the me as to the recipient! Maybe moreso, but I’m not gonna quibble either way.

STORIES matter, whether or not they ever find their way out of our mouths.

We craft and evaluate our own stories according to criteria that is better at keeping us stuck than moving us upward and onward. We try to accurately capture the feelings at the time, deepening that emotional groove with each recounting. We list and weigh facts as objectively as we can muster. We may look to persuade, presenting our cases and seeking agreement for our rightness or soundness of reasoning. I get it. It’s human nature and it’s what we have been taught is appropriate in recounting stories.

But you know what? If your stories are very faithful reruns of events you didn’t like, that is EXACTLY the energy you are activating each time that story comes to mind. That energy grows with your focus. Is that really where you want to go?

But what if you rewrote your stories? What we want and what we don’t want in any situation show use the polarities of every subject. Rather than picking up the “don’t want” end and running with it, justifying that repetition because it seems a more “true” version of events, why not shift your focus to only the “wanted” end. That side of the coin is just as real and you can work with it. It also feels a hell of a lot better.

Pretend for a minute that all is well–perfect actually, because it kind of is. Pretend that the Universe works as it should–because honesty, it does. Imagine that it’s not your job to extract any specific outcome, but simply to amplify energy you want in your life courtesy focus, using your feelings as guide to how you’re doing. Because yes, that is exactly how it works.

Keep a check on your stories. Experiment with cleaning them up to better reflect what you want to live instead of what you don’t want to repeat. Right now is a great time to rewrite stories and give them happier endings.

This week, don’t try to figure out long term implications for the world at large. Just live your own priorities true.

Oh man. The energy out in the wild has been wonky as Hell, huh? CHARGED. Electric and concentrated and driven. And most of all? Not so easy to predict, in terms out specific outcomes, as in where this rocket is going to light in the end. So don’t.

Here’s my weekly forecast to help give you grounding amidst the buzz.

Tarot Forecast (Video Transcript)

Mayday! Mayday! Incoming Tarot forecast!

Hey. This is Dixie from a fool’s journey. I am here to bring to you the tarot forecast, May 1st through 7th, 2017.

So, just gonna hop right in there. And see what we get.

Okay. Starting off the week, uhhhh. I want to say, I have a feeling of second guessing choices and decisions. Like we’re not, folks are not certain that they’re making a good call. I mean, there’s an orientation that’s very clearly towards the future.

But the emotional tenor of the choices that we’re making or how we’re seeing things play out is a little uncomfortable.

Just going into the beginning of the week. Moving in, I would advise you not to overdo the what-if scenarios. Like well, what if this happens and then that happens and then what if this, you know, if this happens and then that happens and…uh huh. Huh uh. That’s not gonna help.

We’ve got the four of cups, reversed. So don’t go arrrgghh, well you know, this and then this and then this, duttutututu. Because you know that’s how it works out anyway. It never is!

And don’t make everything about, well what’s the greater lesson. Just…sigh. Just look to lock in on what’s important to you and let go of the DETAILS about how that happens or if other people are gonna respect it or if it’s gonna dit-tit-dit-ti-tuh.

Like if setting certain boundaries is very important to you, then set the boundaries and stick to them. If getting along is very important to you, then work to get along and let go of the stuff that doesn’t serve that purpose.

The thing is, focus on the goal, not on the means to get there. Okay? If you do that, the week should go pretty well for you.

[bctt tweet=”Focus on the goal, not the means to get there. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

And for the take-home, for a take home, advice/overview, message…I have got the seven of pentacles reversed.

What I want to tell you is that not everything you see is going to have a natural progression to what you, where you think it’s going.

So this predicting the future, that everybody’s doing like, “Oh my gosh. We’re on the road to disaster!” Is not helping. And it’s not accurate! More importantly.

So roll it back and keep your focus in the microcosm, not the macrocosm this week and in terms of where you put your emotional energy and I expect it to go pretty well for you.

I hope that helps. Let me know if it works out for you or if these forecasts are helpful because I need to know whether or not I can keep doing them.

Okay? Take care, peace out from Dixie. Mmmmmmmm. The Zen Goddess. Bye-bye!

Think my hair could be bigger? Because I think my hair could be bigger. It was pretty big right after I fixed it. And then, like, five minutes later, kind of went whoosh.

Looking for What You Like: Tarot Forecast, Sept 26 – Oct 2

Back in the days when I worked in an office. I liked to give out cards at Christmas. Maybe stick a candy cane to them or something. But the real gift was the note inside.

For each person I worked with, I would spend a little while and write out a handwritten note of appreciation, mentioning something I particularly liked or enjoyed about them. I wanted each note to be personal, and completely heartfelt.

Sounds lovely, huh?

But you know the problem with that, right?

There’s always “that one guy,” or “that woman…” agh! The one that gets under your skin and drives you crazy.

“I don’t wanna do a note for So-and-So,” I’d think, a little belligerently, to tell the truth. Except it would be pretty rude to hand out sweet notes to everybody but that one.

This meant a few of my cards took an extra long time to compose. These challenging cards required me to step outside my ego a little bit and relax the defensive stance long enough to find something true, uplifting and kind in my heart to say about the somebody who absolutely drove me batty.

Funny thing, about those tough-to-write notes? While my notes were well received in general, the hard ones were the best received and without exception, my interactions always improved after writing one of those harder notes.

This week is a lot like that. Look for what you like–even if it’s harder to see than what’s in your face–and you’ll do well.

Audio Version of This Forecast – more rambly goodness.

Monday, Future – Four of Wands rx: Don’t run too far into the future, in your head. Don’t make a big deal out of, “Where is this going, where is this going, where is this going?” There is a lot of wiggle room in the energy right now. Wrong turns may be just the break you need. So get your chill on.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Knight of Pentacles rx: It’s okay to want what you want. More money, more stuff, more friends, more comfort. It’s ALL okay to want, whatever it is you want, for yourself, without guilt. Your suffering does not add to the life of another. Lifting up yourself is contributing to the whole at the same time. If you find yourself fussing about wants, allow yourself the space to like what you like without guilt. Appreciate what is already around you; that will clear up any wobbles in your vibe in very short order.

Wednesday, What to Avoid – Ace of Cups: Normally, the Ace of Cups would be a small feeling, one that’s just taking root. So practice an awareness of your emotions. If you find yourself out of emotional sorts, actively look to soften that emotion and get re-centered. So back off from the specific negatives to more generally negative…to more generally positive. Any uncomfortable emotion, look to soften it up in the early stages before it gets bigger.

[bctt tweet=”Shift toward positive emotions when feelings are little, before they’ve grown. #OnMyRadar”]

Thursday, Cons & Friendships – Two of Wands rx: Be aware of the egos of friends – or how they may step on your ego’s toes. There is no need for everybody to see things the same way. Your job is not to set anyone else’s vision. It’s to be true to your own vision. Today, the work is not to gain widespread agreement. The work is to live what you know.

Friday, Lesson – Empress: Nurture yourself! Self-care is awesome. Arts and crafts, or any kind of creative project, is especially rejuvenating. Soothe yourself and be gentle with you.

Saturday, Problem – The Fool: This combination says, the issue is what you don’t know. Your job is to gather more info. It’s a day for fact finding.

Sunday, Finances – Death rx: Ugh! No, I’m not going to say, “Your bank account looks like death warmed over.” Because, c’mon! But I will say, if you have been working on finances? You’ve made strides. To go further, add more harmony in your life and less discord. Don’t fight about money with anybody. Out loud or in your head, don’t bother with how anybody else believes money should be spent. Look for areas of agreement, and ignore other stuff. Think of a field that’s been burned out, with new seedlings germinating and popping up. It takes time, so be patient! Let it be and it will shift.

Overview/Advice, Blocking or Covering – Page of Wands rx: Stress from people pulling different ways this week. Don’t be overbearing in advocating for your opinion or option. You don’t have to agree with everybody or anybody. Just look to understand other perspectives. That is enough.

Affirmation – The better it gets, the better it gets. You will find what you’re looking for. So if you’re looking for ways to correct you kid, you’ll find issue after issue after issue to correct. If you’re looking for awesome things about your kid, you’ll find that, over and over and over, again too. Look for what you love. Don’t push against anything this week. It’s fine, not to find harmony with everybody and everything.  Just look for what you like. And have an awesome week!

Do you try to look for what you like in situations?

Clean Your Own Space First: Tarot Forecast, Apr 25 – May 1, 2016

I’ve been spending a lot of time processing emotions in the last week or three. Very intense, very private, and very fluid emotional processing.

Many times during this process, I felt a strong urge to DUMP that dirty dishwater right into someone else’s lap. Didn’t matter who, really. Someone connected? Sure! Someone who happens to be standing too close? Yeah, probably.

But you know what? I didn’t. I didn’t do that. I keep it mostly too myself and finished up my own chores and I’m really glad I took that approach. Because now, I have some healing, and now I have a much clearer picture of additional areas I need to clean up.

That’s what I’m seeing for next week, too. The need to process internally and allow healing to take place. There will be time for talking and those conversations could definitely go down in the week ahead. Just make sure the emotional processing and reaching for clarity comes first. Don’t dump at the first sign of discomfort. Ride it out, find out where the discomfort is coming from, and then turn to outside measures once you’ve made some efforts to deal with your own, internal emotional status.

Tarot Forecast, Apr 25 May 1 2016

In keeping with all the planets currently retrograde in the sky, I’m sensing the need for a light touch. More emotional housekeeping: the kind where you clean your own digs, not offer to white-glove the neighbors’ house. It’s like the full moon we just had in Scorpio blasted out some of the crud, and it’s our job to clean up the remaining mess.

Detail work, you know? Detail work. Finish dusting out the gunk and put a shine on it.

Monday, Patience – Queen of Cups: It takes a minute to sort out emotional flux. Feeling something stronger than you’d expect, or not as strong as you’d think? That’s a clue. More than expected emotion and you’re tapping an emotional vein, buried. Less and you’ve shifted, perhaps without even being aware.

Tuesday, Light – Five of Pentacles Rx: If you’re feeling dejected and bereft, you can get your hope back a couple of ways; first, turn your attention to all the great support you have on offer or have already received; and secondly, start looking at what you DO have instead of what you do not.

Wednesday, Moving On – Ten of Pentacles Rx: Let go of your vision of perfection – the perfect family, the perfect job, the perfect situation. It’s holding you back. I call this the “Magic House Syndrome” because it became a joke, when we were having a house built, how PERFECT everything was gonna be, once we got that house. Of course it’s silly but most of us do it sometimes. So instead of Magic Housing it, look at what you find, what you have around you this very second, and find ELEMENTS of perfection and grace in your now.

[bctt tweet=”Seek elements of divinity and grace in the present. That’s where they are hiding. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

Thursday, The Waiting Game – World Rx: It takes time to integrate new or disruptive lessons completely and responsibly. Allow it.

For today, I’m hearing David Bowie singing “Changes” so I’ll leave it to him to inspire you further.

Friday,  Shadow- Ten of Cups Rx: This combo whispers of family secrets–so secret nobody acknowledged them?  History may repeat itself, but you’re under zero obligation to respond in the same way as you have, historically. In fact, I’d suggest you don’t. Shine light in the closet. Acknowledge out loud what’s wrong (and what’s right). See it all, not just little bits and pieces.

Saturday, Spiritual Strength –Page of Wands Rx: Spiritual strength, that sense of being “backed up” by the unseen forces, is not coming through assertion of will. No projection required. Only observation.

Sunday, Intuition –  Two of Pentacles Rx: You want to hear the voice of Spirits? You seek to commune with the truth of your soul? Well, sit your ass down and shut up a minute, will ya? Because you cannot commune with Source when you’re running a dialogue, either out loud or in your head. Intuition fills empty space. To make room for it in your life, there has to BE empty space. Prescription: Quiet time!

Overview/Advice, Memories of Love Knight of Pentacles: This Knight is a very literal sort, and he doesn’t just think, think, think. He DOES, because while he’s extremely intellectual, he’s also part of the suit of Pentacles. So real world manifestation is his thing. Throughout the week, access your kindest, most loving memories and feelings about any person, place or situation before setting plans into motion or even opening your mouth tooooooooo wide. This will raise your overall vibration and connect you with the loving feelings, solid. It also will make for a much more pleasant week. If you retain nothing else from this forecast, remember this bit and you are covered, okay?

Affirmation – Burgundy: Awaken your passion. Creativity is healing and brings great revelations. But the presence of creative energy in your life is not automatic. It requires courting. This week? COURT Creativity and make her your mistress.

Are you in process of some emotional housekeeping?
