02/12/13: Feely Faith / Princess of Cups

princess-cups (394x622)

Maybe those feelings are a bit…confusing. New, under-developed. Maybe you’re unsure or uncertain. This is the Princess, after all, aka the Page of Cups. She’s so full of water that she’s blue!

Or maybe she’s holding her breath, waiting for it all to pass.

That’s okay.

Feel it, whatever’s got you in it’s grip. Let the tide come in, knowing for a fact that every time it does roll in, it just as surely will roll back out. Let all those feelings wash over you, move through you, without holding on.

Even if it doesn’t FEEL right, right now. Believe that you don’t have to fight or figure it out in the moment. Know that it becomes clear, once the tide washes back out.

That, my friends, is the definition of faith. It’s worth the work of developing, if only for your peace of mind.

03/14/12: Madness or Magic? | The Moon

“The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to.” Carl Sandburg

Today’s Tarot is the Moon, associated with Pisces. (And if you read the Book of Seshet, companion to the Rosetta Tarot, you’ll understand exactly why.) Here, she’s depicted as Scylla, a sea serpent from Greek mythology. The heads of wolf and dog as part of her body give a nod to Tarot Moon card tradition, suggestive of wild, untamed nature. This is an unpredictable card by nature.

Between her and her counterpart, Charybdis (a giant whirlpool, here shown with stairs leading to the depths of the unconscious), it’s clear that navigating will be fraught with potential peril. Let’s just say nothing is clear cut. Exactly what you’d expect, with Pisces energy.

The Moon speaks to the unknown—below consciousness, dreams and delusions, a great, watery mass of shadows and mystery. Pisces can grant spiritual epiphanies or a descent into madness, and you’d be hard pressed to identify which is which in the process.

SO…when you see the Moon, understand you’re no longer standing on solid ground. What you perceive is outline, suggestion, with no more than intuition to connect the dots. Or is it imagination? That’s what you’ve got to figure out. Be aware of the potential for deception, particularly the self-made sort. You may find incredible insight and a spiritual experience—or you may just have a helping of crazy on your plate.

Either way, stay attuned and look for daybreak before you make any big leaps. And don’t hesitate to pray! That’s a good way to access guidance and faith from the Moon’s realm of dreams and illusion. It’s a trip you take alone. Since you can’t trust your eyes in the silver shimmer, ask for divine assistance as needed.

Everyday Tarot, 06/25/11: Transcending Polarities

daily-tarot-forecast-transparentI wanted something fresh, so I reached for the Transparent Tarot. Superimposing the images triggers entirely different stories than you’d get looking at each card in isolation. It’s like visual poetry, sure to stir something up! And stir it did.

Today’s Tarot forecast is a three card spread—er, stack.

  • The Moon or “Ruler of Flux and Reflux,” associated with Pisces (I know, it’s counter-intuitive. Think in terms of meaning and don’t gripe to me about it.)
  • The World or “The Great One of the Night of Time,” associated with Saturn
  • Two of Wands or “Lord of Dominion,” associated with Mars in Aries

Two Major Arcana—it’s a deep, what we’re looking at. The two figures present their wands to each other, each with like force and conviction. It’s a polarity.

See how this Moon has her physical eyes closed, but her Third Eye open? Framed by the World energy—integrated, confident of her own integrity—she can afford to be generous. She understands on a deep level how differences in perspective are part of the natural order, trusting each to travel their own sacred path in their own time and way, without getting caught up in the details. Details aren’t necessary to live well here.

So the stuff that gets under my skin? The people, places and things that so often frustrate me? How about I let go of it, look higher, seek a more complete picture where everyone is exactly where they’re supposed to be, doing whatever it is they need to do? That doesn’t mean I don’t need to protect myself at times. But those times are relatively few and far between.

Today, I’m looking to be respectful of everyone I meet, whether they vibrate very much like me or very much apart. I’m going to understand, on a soul level, each of us is here, walking our own path, and that is a sacred and individual (Fool’s) journey; it’s not necessary for me to understand others’ paths; my job is to walk my own as well as I can. For everyone else, send as much love as possible when we pass.
