Not Driving that Car: Weekly Flow Tarot, Jan. 5 – 11

thumbnail

To me, this is an almost invisible weekly forecast. It’s like the most important stuff going on is between your ears, you know? Not that is unusual in and of itself, but it’s pronounced this week. We’ve got 3 Major Arcana cards, so the week is officially a big deal. And all the other suits are represented. Hence, some variety.

But another thing that jumps at me, both the affirmation card and the advice/overview card give the same, very clear directive: Go with the flow and do not try to control it. Ride, don’t drive. And backseat (or passenger seat) driving counts!

Monday, Significator – Seven of Swords: Self-deception is definitely a temptation today. This can go either way, incidentally. You can decide you’re being so much more awesome (or blameless) than you really are, or you can decide you totally suck and take responsibility for what’s not yours. Just try to sidestep the temptation by prodding yourself to back up self-assessment with facts today, okay?

Tuesday, What is Hidden – Temperance: You don’t see everything that’s gone into the mix. If something doesn’t make sense today, understand there are other factors that you cannot see. Partial information, and hidden influences at play. Sit tight.

Wednesday, Future Life – Judgment Reversed: Who did what ceases to be as important once the mess is cleaned up. I’m reminded of a quote I cannot find at the moment, about ignorant people seeking to lay blame, whereas the wise seek to find solutions. It’s relevant to understand how things happen, sure. But who’s at fault matters a lot less than how to clean it up.

Thursday, Friends and Family – Three of Wands Reversed: Loved ones are dealing with their own disrupted plans. Doesn’t mean the world is blowing up, but they may be distracted or under stress. Be kind.

Friday, Health – Ace of Pentacles Reversed: Improvement on the health front is likely, but more needs to be done. Ace of Pentacles would suggest food and exercise is relevant. Hello, New Year’s Resolutions!

Saturday, Present – Seven of Cups Reversed: Confusing! Reversed, the Seven of Cups doesn’t say you’re being fooled. It says you cannot TELL if you have a clear view or not.

Sunday, Lesson – Justice Reversed: Sometimes circumstances are not fair. Sometimes people don’t seem to get their due. But this lesson isn’t so much “life isn’t fair” as I’m reading it; I’m taking it as a notice about how life responds to our personal sense of balance and groundedness. If you’re not balanced, your life is not, either. Get yourself aright, Grasshopper!

Advice/Overview – Five of Wands Reversed: It’s not worth fighting what happens this week, simple as that. Not worth fighting family or friends. Not worth fighting to have everything just your way. Look for calm, Zen, peace this week. Let events unfold. Don’t try to force. Be the grass in the wind, not the brittle branch, okay? That’s your assignment.

Affirmation – I let go of all expectations. Pretty self-explanatory, huh? Don’t try to script out the whole “life movie.” Take what comes and look to find what you’re grateful for not only each day, but each morning, afternoon and evening. Allow the Universe to do it’s thing. You may as well accept the Universal schedule because seriously? No other choice.

Zen is the keyword this week and I’d repeat that affirmation–I let go of all expectations–over and over every time you feel anxious. It’s a good one.

Fogged Mirrors. Oy! Weekly Flow, Sept. 15 – 21

Tarot Forecast Sep 15 -21

I’m seeing a lot of confusion over your own feelings and motivations in this weekly flow. If last week was fogged up windows, this week is fogged up mirrors. Eh, what are you gonna do? At the very least, knowing what you’ve got going down is helpful.

Noticing the general mix for the week, 3 Swords, 2 Cups, and 2 Majors—and some of them not exactly comfortable cards at that—I’m expecting some emotional (Cups) rawness (Swords) at least and dealing with situations that are personally significant (Majors).  The advice and affirmations suggest really going the extra mile to take care of yourself physically as being a helpful measure in holding up. I’d stay on that. All told though, whatever is murky and confusing throughout the week (with 5 of the 7 being reversed), you’ll understand by Sunday. So hang in there!

Monday, Others – Seven of Cups Reversed: This card in the position of others suggests a misunderstanding of who someone is, or perhaps a very incomplete conclusion based on limited (and misleading) information. I’d suggest not acting on hints about other people today because there’s a better-than-fair chance your info is off, incomplete or otherwise misrepresented. Stand back and wait until you have confirmation.

Tuesday, Crowning Influences – Seven of Swords: Who is flying under the radar, sneaking around and not telling the whole story? This is the deciding factor, what’s putting the icing on the cake today. Verify. Even if it’s what you’re telling yourself, verify today.

Wednesday, Underlying Influences – Nine of Swords Reversed: Denied worries or justifications you don’t really believe are clouding thinking. Come to terms with any guilt or fears you’ve been packing away in the back of the closet because they do influence you in ways you may not imagine.

Thursday, Finances: Queen of Swords Reversed: Is there a need for economizing that’s been brushed aside? The reversed Queen of Swords could point to a logical cut that has not been made. I’m not thinking painful so much as rational, reasonable, a good idea.

Friday, Situation: Chariot Reversed: Focus is off. Progress doesn’t get made when you’re running the wrong way, no matter how much you feel compelled to do so. You can counter this with the very simple question, “What do I hope to accomplish?” Because if your urges do not match your end-game, best not to act on them.

Saturday, What to take from the Past – Five of Cups Reversed: Remembering what you’ve lost is fine, but don’t dwell or fixate. Also remember the times you’ve come through grief and loss successfully. That counts, you know? That pain didn’t last forever and you’ve come through it. Today, instead of thinking of the “ow,” direct yourself to the healing from the ouch, how you got through and grew.

Sunday, Immediate Future – High Priestess: This is a reassuring card to wrap up the week with. Most of the flow up to this point is confusion, misdirection, self-delusion and out and out denial. Lots not being seen. Ending the week with the High Priestess says you’ll just know what you need to know without reaching for it. Get quiet and let your inspiration arrive. In the position of “Immediate future,” you may not be able to see far out in advance, but you’ll know for sure what the next step is, what to do right now. I’ll take it!

Overview/AdvicePage of Pentacles: Take care of yourself physically! Also take care of practicalities and deal with communications. Do your job, make you phone calls, answer your emails, shop for groceries and get your sleep. When the emotional side and the energetic side of life is not easy to grasp, the practical, everyday side can get neglected in a sense of being overwhelmed. This advice for the week is to keep up with your simple, everyday needs as a way of staying grounded and on task.

Affirmation – Cloak yourself in light. This speaks to protection on several levels. There is the old-fashioned “visualize a protective bubble of light around you” kind, a great habit to cultivate! There is the kind of light that comes from how you act, doing your honest-to-God’s best to being a decent person and living in accord with your moral compass. There is the kind of light that comes from who you surround yourself with, what companions you choose. There is the light that comes from what you fill your head with – your thoughts and energy and vibrations.

A really easy way to turn up your vibration any time you’re feeling low is gratitude shout-outs. It doesn’t have to be written down or even spoken aloud. Just say to yourself, “Right now, I’m grateful for…” and list two or three things, big or small. But let yourself dwell, soak in the feeling of being grateful, of appreciation, of happiness for those gifts. If it’s for someone else in your life, you can also share it. You’d be surprised how much that amplifies the good vibes.

Here’s hoping for a manageable week for you all out there, with plenty of light!

04/04/14: Career Imagination Amuck / 7 of Cups

7 of Cups

Damn. There’s a reason I don’t pull out the Medicine Woman Tarot a lot. This Seven of Cups…er, Bowls, pretty much bears no resemblance whatsoever to what I’m used to seeing. I could try and find the book for the deck to see if this one has more than a little spin per the creator. I could read it traditionally. Ultimately, I’ll just see whatever the card says to me but really, as much as I enjoy the great variety of Tarot in the world, sometimes I find this just freakin’ distracting…

That having been said however, I have a daily to do. So less kvetch, more forecast!

I want to ask, are you counting blessings before they are hatched? Are you over-romanticizing in the area of work?  In this “bowl” that appears to be a vision, there is true love, a dolphin grinning and what looks to be a mermaid in the background. Quite an idyllic scene! The scene outside the bowl isn’t bad, mind you. But it’s not quite as over-the-top A-MAZ-ING as the main focus of the card. I mean, who could manage to swim and hug in the ocean like that for God’s sakes?

My short answer here is that the career scene may be good—maybe even very good, with excellent potential. But there are rocks on the shore, so you need to be aware. The situation itself looks more potential-y than guarentee-y to me. (Both words according to Dixie).

And even a very, very good situation cannot hold a candle to what we conjure up in a fantasy. So separate it out. Know what you have reason to believe is real based on objectivity, past performance, and good, ol’ fashioned rationality. You may have awesome possibilities but don’t let yourself be run away with them. You could miss genuine, real-world opportunities in the process.

Loud Fat Ladies? Weekly Tarot, February 17, 2014

I can talk about fat ladies, because I am one.

Short version: What’s apparently clear and settled continues to be…deceptive. No need to get worked up or aggravated, just please, keep doing what you need to be doing. You may think that fat lady you hear singing is for you, but beware another, fatter lady showing up to crash the party.

In short, “the check is mailed” doesn’t cut it. That check needs to be received, deposited and cleared the bank with sufficient funds before you put the matter to rest! I’m thinking false finishes this week. Hello, Mercury is still retro, after all.

Are you dealing with false finishes?

11/28/13: Planning on Clarity / 7 of Cups

Happy Thanksgiving, folks!

Seeing the Seven of Cups today, I’m inclined to suggest you double-check the fruit in that Jell-O mold. All may not be what it seems…Ha!

Seriously, though…it’s a day people in the US at least often spend with family and close friends. It’s also the official kick-off to the holidays, and such special occasions often stir up long-forgotten pains and fantasies. It’s quite easy to slip into a distorted view of reality, even without multiple trips to top off the eggnog.

The uncle who seems to have everything, may not. The loved one who makes your house last on the visit list (if at all) may do it because there’s a ticket to the Guilt Trip express involved in doing otherwise. The success and failure and loves and hates that appear before you may be nothing of the sort in reality.

There is a simple way to rise above, though: be generous. Be kind. Be loving! This tactic sidesteps so much drama, it’s not even funny. This is how you find clarity. It’s not confusing to decide what “being kind” means. It’s not hard to figure out how to be gracious if you’re focused on yourself.

Don’t worry about what anybody else is seeing or thinking or being. Give of yourself, open your heart authentically and unconditionally, and the little stuff doesn’t amount to much in the face of such force.

And even if you don’t have a foggy Thanksgiving, it’s still sound advice and cannot help but make whatever you do today better. So why not?

I’ll be doing my best to have a healthy helping of this advice. And some turkey. We dig turkey.

You have Thanksgiving plans?

11/14/13: Don’t know what you don’t know… / 7 of Cups Rx

Reversed 7 of Cups Morgan-Greer TarotYou don’t know what you don’t know. That’s what the reversed Seven of Cups is mumbling in my ear. At least, I think that’s what he’s saying. Or she. This is a shifty one, this card!

You remember that party game of telephone line? Where one person whispers something to the next person, just once, and it goes around the room? Today is like that.

What you’re hearing may have nothing to do with what reality. Expect to be getting partial and distorted information. Maybe it was a lie, maybe a misunderstanding, maybe a bit of plain ol’ garden-variety insanity that got things where they are, but I’d say it’s likely everything is not as it appears at the moment.

Put your “Jump to Conclusions” mat away, because if you hop on it today, it could well slip out from under your feet. Nobody needs an nasty spill like that.

Am I saying those conclusions would be wrong? Hell no! Just that we don’t know.

What do do with it? Wait it out, of course. Pay more attention to the urges to ram headfirst than the “facts” upon which the urges are based. And as far as action, give it a minute, will ya?
