Seven of Pentacles: Tending Your Personal Garden

The world is virtually popping with unsolicited advice–and loud advisors. Have you noticed?

Whether you consider it outright criticism or desire to lend a helping hand, it’s all more or less the same thing. People line up to tell the rest of the world how they “must” think, act and feel about anything and everything.

I always want to ask, “How’s that working out for you?” But I don’t. I’d rather fly below that particular radar myself.

I realize much of this comes from a natural desire to help. I’ve offered unsolicited advice for the same reason. Other times, people preach in an attempt to shore up their own sense of stability surrounding a particular topic. Or sometimes, people are fighting what they perceive as ignorance or misinformation.

The common denominator isn’t the justification list for telling you what to do. Truth be told, the list of “musts” has very little if anything to do with you, but a whole lot to do with who gets to make decisions for you, who gets to define your own reality.

Gotta own what’s yours in order to steer your own life. Absolutely! And the flip side of that is letting other people own their own reality.  Just know, when you are hit with incoming criticism or a how-to-live lecture, it’s not about you. By (my) definition, it cannot be. But the response, or the decision to fire your own reality right back at ’em?

That is all about you. I expect these issues to be relevant the coming week.

Next Week in Tarot

Seven of Pentacles: Tending Your Personal Garden 1

For this week’s outlook, we have the Seven of Pentacles, with the inverted Page of Pentacles coming in as advice from the mini Radiant Rider-Waite deck. (Aside: if you’re looking for a travel deck, this one is a lovely choice: petite and manageable, in its own little tin.)

I’ve been seeing a lot of this seven lately–sometimes cards are just loud, you know? In the context of a weekly forecast, he’s suggesting plenty a-popping underneath the surface. Seeds planted long ago are in process of bearing fruit. So whatever is going on around you either personally or in the wider world, don’t assume it’s something brand new. It’s not. It’s been growing roots for some time now.

However, there’s also no point in assuming you can extrapolate “the ultimate truth” from what you see, either. The page of Pentacles is a master of detail but reversed? He may be getting the message entirely backward. You cannot divine another’s full motivations. Things may work out very differently than intended. Mixed, incomplete or confusing messages are all possible with this page being reversed. What’s more? The Page of Pentacles is not tentative. He may be quite sure of his messages, accurate or not.

I would encourage everyone to step back to avoid huge, sweeping (and irrevocable) declarations in the coming week. Let the harvest be complete here, okay? Stay in your own lane and assume the best of everyone because whether or not they are able to deliver on it, almost everyone does mean well.  It’s been my experience that people who are being unkind in some sort of pain. The worse the behavior, the worse the pain. I may not choose to involve myself with their issues, but that doesn’t mean I must denounce them, either.

Take note of what you perceive this week, sure. When is that a bad idea? But do so in pencil and don’t toss anything important in the mail yet, okay? Sometimes words are hard to take back so save yourself the need by keeping your own counsel right now. This is a lot easier to do if you keep your nose out of anybody else’s life. Stand back and wish them well and let the Universe sort it out.

Do you have a tough time keeping your mouth shut?

If you want some help sorting your thoughts, though, give me a holler for a private session.

7 of Pentacles: Be Your Own Tree

This is what I’ve been waking up to, lately. In my head, playing on the ol’ psychic soundtrack.

It’s not a forecast in my mind, so much as a prescription. You know? A prescription.

7 of Pentacles: Be Your Own Tree 2

The Seven of Pentacles in the non-traditional Psychic Tarot of the Heart is “Awaiting Results.” I love the how she’s becoming the tree–seeing herself as part of the results that are coming into being.  Aligning herself with her future expectations.

I’ve seen the Nasturtium from Botanical Inspirations recently, too. Because the quote stuck in my head.

He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still. Click To Tweet

All roads lead home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html.

Feel your part, the role your energy plays in the whole of experience. Be solid and steady and consistent, in keeping your self centered and grounded. Align, by grounding, plugging in, listening to the inner voice.  Then you can feel your way through anything and you’ll already be growing towards the sun.

Be your own tree. And be happy, every opportunity that presents itself.

And if you wanna chat one-on-one, you know where to find me.

Choosing My Part: Ten of Wands & Seven of Pentacles

May you live in interesting times. –Unknown

If your wish is to live in “interesting times,” that wish has been amply granted in my book! But “interesting” isn’t necessarily bad. Or good.

I’m sure some would argue that point. And that’s beyond okay. It’s great! Because those arguing are playing the role they’ve chosen. And I get to play the role I’ve chosen. It’s all as it should be.

I’ve been making it a practice for a good, long while now to aim for a less “conditional” life. Meaning, I want to carry my Zen around with me, inside my heart, imprinted upon my soul. I choose to create the calm, centered space within instead of letting it be granted or denied based on what I see when I look out into the world.

Can you see how that’s the only path to freedom, right there?

Of course I have preferences. Sometimes, what I see is upsetting. But there is SO MUCH out there! The world is full of both what I would choose and what I would not. The “would not” list is more likely to make the nightly news but it doesn’t mean it’s more prevalent, statistically speaking. Bad news is not “more true.” It’s just better publicized.

So choosing where I point my attention isn’t denying truth. It’s choosing the truth I want to participate in, via attention. It’s  energetically amplifying what I value. It’s loving what I find lovely instead of hating what I find hateful. There’s certainly room to approach it in others ways, but I know this feels better to me. I have control over ME and my contribution to the collective energy pool. I get to decide what I’m chipping in, here and now. And I want to chip in love.

A long time ago, I decided to make one of my central aims in life to bear no ill will. I may waver here and there, but by and large, I do pretty well in this regard and I’m happy with that. It feels right.  I’m infinitely more comfortable wishing well to anyone and everyone–without taking it upon myself to define what “well” means for that matter–than trying to sort out who deserves my good intentions. I don’t know how anyone got to the place they are at, and I don’t know what will move them forward to another place. I don’t need to know. It’s not my job to know!

It’s my job to be me, the best I can. And you know what? It’s a pretty nice way to live, right there.

I know that evolution happens in the face of friction and upset. I know that beliefs frame perceptions and once beliefs stretch, there is no going back. This is how the Universe expands, you know? So no matter what is going down, all of it is contributing on more levels than we could possibly grasp. All goes to clarify and refine intentions of the collective. So while there are things in this world today I would not choose, I don’t worry about it. I don’t see anything as wrong. It’s change, in progress. The chaos will serve a purpose.

Quantum leaps are born from chaos. Bless it all. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

This Week in Tarot

Choosing My Part: Ten of Wands & Seven of Pentacles 3

I was less than enthusiastic about seeing “Suppression”–the Osho Zen version of the Ten of Wands. I mean, can you say, “Depressing?” So I drew another card for guidance and on cue, Patience, aka the Seven of Pentacles followed up with some reassurance and ever-applicable advice.

I see the overwhelming burden so many are feeling now, looking around at many events they have no control over. There’s a sense of being unable to move, taking on the weight of so much. It’s heavy and depressing and also? Voluntary. It may not seem voluntary, but it is. These problems become your problems courtesy how you frame it in your head.

Patience speaks to the natural cycle of growth. In the strife now, in the midst of conflict, seeds of tomorrow are planted.

This week, I’m going to continue to let go that which is not mine. I’m going to frame all that I see as part of the natural cycle of life, understanding that no event is a discrete one-and-done, isolated from everything else. It’s all part of the grand dance of life and there’s beauty there, whether I can articulate it or not. I’m going to wish well upon the whole of humanity and I’m going to love as completely as I’m capable of loving. I’m going to decide to see the good and I’m going to find it.  Maybe some of you will join me.

♥ Peace out.

Living the Microcosm: Weekly Tarot, May 1 – 7, 2017

“If you keep telling yourself the exact same stories about this, you’ll keep having the exact same feelings.”

I heard myself saying this to a friend recently. And like most of my best advice, it’s just as (annoyingly) applicable to the me as to the recipient! Maybe moreso, but I’m not gonna quibble either way.

STORIES matter, whether or not they ever find their way out of our mouths.

We craft and evaluate our own stories according to criteria that is better at keeping us stuck than moving us upward and onward. We try to accurately capture the feelings at the time, deepening that emotional groove with each recounting. We list and weigh facts as objectively as we can muster. We may look to persuade, presenting our cases and seeking agreement for our rightness or soundness of reasoning. I get it. It’s human nature and it’s what we have been taught is appropriate in recounting stories.

But you know what? If your stories are very faithful reruns of events you didn’t like, that is EXACTLY the energy you are activating each time that story comes to mind. That energy grows with your focus. Is that really where you want to go?

But what if you rewrote your stories? What we want and what we don’t want in any situation show use the polarities of every subject. Rather than picking up the “don’t want” end and running with it, justifying that repetition because it seems a more “true” version of events, why not shift your focus to only the “wanted” end. That side of the coin is just as real and you can work with it. It also feels a hell of a lot better.

Pretend for a minute that all is well–perfect actually, because it kind of is. Pretend that the Universe works as it should–because honesty, it does. Imagine that it’s not your job to extract any specific outcome, but simply to amplify energy you want in your life courtesy focus, using your feelings as guide to how you’re doing. Because yes, that is exactly how it works.

Keep a check on your stories. Experiment with cleaning them up to better reflect what you want to live instead of what you don’t want to repeat. Right now is a great time to rewrite stories and give them happier endings.

Living the Microcosm: Weekly Tarot, May 1 - 7, 2017 4

This week, don’t try to figure out long term implications for the world at large. Just live your own priorities true.

Oh man. The energy out in the wild has been wonky as Hell, huh? CHARGED. Electric and concentrated and driven. And most of all? Not so easy to predict, in terms out specific outcomes, as in where this rocket is going to light in the end. So don’t.

Here’s my weekly forecast to help give you grounding amidst the buzz.

Tarot Forecast (Video Transcript)

Mayday! Mayday! Incoming Tarot forecast!

Hey. This is Dixie from a fool’s journey. I am here to bring to you the tarot forecast, May 1st through 7th, 2017.

So, just gonna hop right in there. And see what we get.

Okay. Starting off the week, uhhhh. I want to say, I have a feeling of second guessing choices and decisions. Like we’re not, folks are not certain that they’re making a good call. I mean, there’s an orientation that’s very clearly towards the future.

But the emotional tenor of the choices that we’re making or how we’re seeing things play out is a little uncomfortable.

Just going into the beginning of the week. Moving in, I would advise you not to overdo the what-if scenarios. Like well, what if this happens and then that happens and then what if this, you know, if this happens and then that happens and…uh huh. Huh uh. That’s not gonna help.

We’ve got the four of cups, reversed. So don’t go arrrgghh, well you know, this and then this and then this, duttutututu. Because you know that’s how it works out anyway. It never is!

And don’t make everything about, well what’s the greater lesson. Just…sigh. Just look to lock in on what’s important to you and let go of the DETAILS about how that happens or if other people are gonna respect it or if it’s gonna dit-tit-dit-ti-tuh.

Like if setting certain boundaries is very important to you, then set the boundaries and stick to them. If getting along is very important to you, then work to get along and let go of the stuff that doesn’t serve that purpose.

The thing is, focus on the goal, not on the means to get there. Okay? If you do that, the week should go pretty well for you.

Focus on the goal, not the means to get there. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

And for the take-home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, for a take home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, advice/overview, message…I have got the seven of pentacles reversed.

What I want to tell you is that not everything you see is going to have a natural progression to what you, where you think it’s going.

So this predicting the future, that everybody’s doing like, “Oh my gosh. We’re on the road to disaster!” Is not helping. And it’s not accurate! More importantly.

So roll it back and keep your focus in the microcosm, not the macrocosm this week and in terms of where you put your emotional energy and I expect it to go pretty well for you.

I hope that helps. Let me know if it works out for you or if these forecasts are helpful because I need to know whether or not I can keep doing them.

Okay? Take care, peace out from Dixie. Mmmmmmmm. The Zen Goddess. Bye-bye!

Think my hair could be bigger? Because I think my hair could be bigger. It was pretty big right after I fixed it. And then, like, five minutes later, kind of went whoosh.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17

Roughly 99% of the stuff I’ve spent much of my life worrying over hasn’t come to pass. I think that means I’m a mother.

And that which has come to pass? My worrying didn’t somehow prepare me to cope better. It just amped up the unpleasantness.

So now? I ease myself a step back any time I notice I’m starting to spiral into a worry-fest, whether the focus is personal or more global. Because it’s all the same. Experiencing disasters in my head is practicing disaster and knocking me off my center. It does no good and it feels rotten, which is my first and biggest clue it’s not a good idea.

These days, I look to expect better and screw what’s “realistic.”

I’m noticing a theme here for the last few forecasts. Or maybe, it’s a mostly a theme in my head, in my life. But I’m finding myself repeatedly drawn to taking a step back and a deep breath. Centering back to the self. Step back and center, step back and center. Taking what’s useful and ignoring everything else.

It’s a silly little thing, true, and honestly much easier to say than it is to do. But if you make this a practice–that’s another theme in my head, practice, consistency, repetition–but if you make this a practice, what you find is that you’re more at peace than you were before.

It’s the difference between trying to solve someone’s problems in your head, then offering and advocating for your solution, then worrying about whether or not your solution will be properly implemented or at all…OR offering the support of believing in the individual’s ability to make their own choices, live their own life, and resolve their own problems.

What you do most often is what shapes your day-to-day existence. And for me? I want peace, support, love and an easy sense of calm to shape my world. So let’s get specific and see how we do that for next week.

Day-by-day forecast taken directly from the video above.

Okay, one thing really, really notable about these cards, is that all except one of them are inverted.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17 5

A crappy picture of next week’s cards.

Ohhhhh.

Now, I don’t read inverted cards as the opposite of the traditional meaning. I usually read it as having the same energy, but not freely expressing. However, when I have a week full of inverted cards, I know it’s probably not gonna be a super comfortable, easy ride. Just so you know.

So, with that having been said, let’s just kinda hop right in here, and see what we’ve got.

It, looks like an emotional week.

Monday is the Page of Cups reversed. Potential for emotional overreaction. Where people wear their feelings on their sleeves. Or are otherwise just easily upset, maybe even including you.

So, space. Space, okay? Everybody needs lots of space. And extra downtime.

Naps. Naps are good. Naps are your friend.

So Monday might be a little edgey. Sorry. What are you gonna do?

Tuesday, the Knight of Swords reversed. Knights, especially inverted knights, have a tendency to be impulsive. In the suit of Swords, reversed again, there’s potential for impulsive words or blurting or harsh kind of sharp or critical language.

So be aware of that. And I hope you’re not on the receiving end. Do what you can not to be on the giving end, ok? ‘Cause these kind of words, a lot of times, there’s a hangover.

Just so you know.

And Happy Valentine’s Day. HAHAHA!

Wednesday, we have the Two of Cups, which is lovely card, inverted, which I would prefer to see it upright, but still to me this is the beginnings of a little bit more harmony or a little bit more connection, or at least the potential for it coming in the week. So, not everything is in harmony. The basic points are actually in agreement, but you might not notice you’re busy fighting. You take what you can get, right?

Thursday, I have the Queen of Swords and I have her upright. Now, I want to tell you to be fair. Be clear. And filter! Not just filter your mouth, although I’m never going to advise against that. I’ll be honest!

But listen to the facts, not how they’re presented. Listen to the message or the intention, not whether or not you agree. In other words, take what information, take what understanding, needed, that you want, that is useful, that is helpful, that forwards things along and discard the rest!

If somebody uses an insensitive word or is not particularly thoughtful about how they express themselves or whatever, the Queen of Swords just ignores, ignores, ignores. She does not respond to anything she doesn’t like or she doesn’t need or doesn’t want. So that’s what we’ve got and that will really, really help you on Thursday.

And probably before and after Thursday a little.

Friday, it’s the Seven of Pentacles, which is another generally speaking positive card, reversed. Now in this case, it feels like what you do doesn’t matter. I’m not going to say that’s true, or overall or in this case for that matter. But that’s kind of the feeling that I’ve got going on. Thursday. To deal with that, I have the Two of Wands reversed.

And what I want to say in that regard is don’t push back. Just back up, back up, back up; in fact, I’m seeing a car, backing out of a parking space. Backing up don’t get, stuck, solidified. You know. It…don’t get in a place that is not…don’t put yourself in a corner. Just kind of back up, easy does it, easy does it, that’s kind of the vibe I’m wanting for the whole week!

Saturday, the Emperor reversed. When I see this, a lot of times there are control freak issues. So control yourself, not the other. Whatever that’s worth. And people might be trying to control you. And, I mean, you know what to do with that.

You smile, and you say, “Thank you so much for your caring and concern for me. I really, really appreciate that. And I will take everything you have to say under advisement.”

In other words, I’m going to do exactly what I want to do, but I want to acknowledge you in a positive way that you can’t really argue with. Mmmm! Problem solved.

Okay. Sunday, I’ve got the Four of Swords. But it’s shown up reversed. Now, the Four of Swords in general is a card of rest or relaxation. Having it reversed on Sunday makes me think, hmmm. Maybe there’s some last minute details that need to be attended to. Check Sunday. On my clarification, I got Strength. But check Sunday, and see if there’s any follow through or anything that’s gotten missed or just kind of slid on by that you could stand to deal with, okay? Before the week gets started.

Overview/Advice: The Five of Swords reversed. [Note: I  missed covering this in the video.]

No need to take score or decide what is right and what it wrong. It’s superfluous. You can evaluate for YOURSELF, your own experience and life, what you want there and what you don’t. But there is no reason to compare that to anything else to decide what is better and worse. You “win” here by not caring who wins, instead just directing your own experience.

Our affirmation here, we’ve got, “Everything I touch is a success!”

And the back of it says, “I now establish a new awareness of success. I know I can be as successful as I make up my mind to be. I can move into the winning circle.”

At first, I thought it said, I could move into Wyoming. Why, is Wyoming special?

“Golden opportunities are everywhere for me. Prosperity of every kind is drawn to me.”

Whether you’re into these kind of affirmations or not, people have really big tendency to acknowledge what goes wrong and dismiss what goes right. At least in their conversation, so I’m assuming we’re doing it in our heads as well.

And I say to you, how about acknowledging what goes right and ignoring what goes wrong? Maybe a simple concept, maybe revolutionary. Depends.

I’m seeing water, a huge body of water. And like being in a big body of water, you don’t want to try and fight the tide. You want to relax into the flow, and then kind of paddle the direction that you’re looking for. That’s the mental image, imagery that I’m getting. In other words, you try to fight the tide in the coming week, you’re going to drown in it. If you ride it, then when it’s calm enough, edge towards the direction you want to go, and you’re going to be a lot more successful. So light touch next week.

Don’t fight yourself, the tide or anybody else. Just take your time. Slow and steady.

Icing on the Cake: Tarot Forecast, Jan 30 – Feb 4, 2017

I blame astrology–but one recurring theme of my life has been people that I care about exiting–sometimes quite dramatically.

I know, I know, we all deal with this to one degree or another. But it’s been notable for me, at least to me. It’s been a function of my life for many, many years. Important relationships, poof! Friends, sure, but also close family. I have not always taken this well mind you, but maturity has helped me make a lot of progress on that front.

This feature of being me has given the opportunity to find lots and lots of different perspectives on the phenomena. And being who I am, I always look for the perspective that feels best to me.

Our connections, meaningful as they are to us, giving so much fun and love and healing and growth, are all interludes in our lives. We each live inside our own hearts and heads with our own, unique perspectives and no amount of explanation or persuasion can fully admit another. And that’s beyond okay; it’s how this works. That’s how we’re built. It’s a gift, really, when we can share bits and pieces of it with another, but wholly unnecessary for a happy life.

Think of it like icing on the cake. It’s great to have icing but with or without, the cake still tastes good.

This week coming up? It’s a lot like that. The only thing that really matters is sticking true to who you are. This is your cake. Let the universe ice it.

Icing on the Cake: Tarot Forecast, Jan 30 - Feb 4, 2017 6

This week’s forecast audio…

The week as a whole may require you to step back a bit to get your orientation, so take your time and let the week’s events roll over you. There is a very clear flow to this forecast, gradual and progressive. I’m seeing/feeling plenty of hysteria out in the wild–so you’ll have to make the choice to opt out if you’d prefer not to ride on that train. Disciplined focus and a determination to feel good are your tickets to a better experience.

Especially notable in this week’s draw is the number of Sevens–the sixteen of the Tower reduces to seven, and we’ve got the Sevens of Wands, Pentacles, and Cups, along with the Chariot, Seven in the Major Arcana! Tarot Sevens offer a clarifying force: focus, drive, and turn points are often called into play. There’s also a sense in Tarot sevens of being separate, standing alone to make one’s decisions while the rest of the world does whatever it does. So if you keep that in mind, you’ll have more success.

Let’s hop on in to the day-by-day and see what we’ve got going.

Monday, Rebuild (Tower) – This angel has lots of heart energy going on…a very soft interpretation of the Tower. Take wherever you are, make peace and start focusing on what you want. Read: focusing NOT on what’s wrong, what might be wrong, how long it will be wrong, how to force the wrong out of your experience. Focus on what you want, and ways you can add that energy in your life. Focus is not the devastation, but the rebuilding. This works from applying it to yourself, all the way out: to your family, neighborhood, country, or world. I recommend focusing on what you want to build!

Tuesday, Strengthening Bonds (Ace of Pentacles) – Look for common ground. You disagree on 25 things with your neighbor but agree on two? Focus on and explore the two you agree upon! That’s the basis for moving forward. That is the only space in which progress is possible.

Wednesday, Base Chakra + Love (The Lovers) – Security and stability comes from the heart, not external circumstances. If you want to offer that to others, or find it for yourself, come at it form a heart space. Look for and express love and kindness. Focus on the energy of love and kindness to activate the vibration of love and kindness. If you are feeling a bit alone, to activate more love, focus your attention on things that help bring out that energy for you. A pet you love, food or a movie, whatever, doesn’t matter what it is. Just feel the appreciation, as appreciation is the same family of vibration as love, so it will activate love. Love is always good medicine.

Thursday, Choose your Battles (Seven of Wands) – Self-explanatory, don’t you think? Trying to get others to be you is always a losing proposition, so I never recommend it. ‘Nuff said.

Friday, Awaiting Results (Seven of Pentacles) – Don’t push to know all the details, how it’s all going to be, now, now, now, now, now. Set out your intentions and be clear, and let the world morph around your clarity and focus of feelings. The results of the vibration you’re offering will settle themselves.

Saturday, Daydreams and Decisions (Seven of Cups) – Lots of visions dancing in your head. Mentally a very active time. You get to decide what you focus on. Let your mind wander, sure, but steer it towards the “wouldn’t it be great if…” end of the scale. Make any necessary decisions, WHILE you’re in a good feeling place.

Make decisions steeped in the feeling you want for the outcome. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Sunday, Move (Chariot) – We’ve had some clarification this week. Monday, we decided what we want. Tuesday, we searched for common ground. Wednesday, we helped ourselves and others feel a bit more secure, coming from a heart-centered place. Thursday, we acknowledged not everything is worth fighting about, Friday, we sat back to let the flow come. Saturday, we get into a good-feeling place with our imagination and make decision from that good-feeling place. Sunday, you may have the option to take some action on it–inspired action, that comes from being connected, plugged in and being in a good place.

Icing on the Cake: Tarot Forecast, Jan 30 - Feb 4, 2017 7Overview/Advice, Darkest Fears (Nine of Swords) – Some of what you feel is “wrong” is worry, imagination used against yourself. Understand the yucky feelings you may have may not be premonition signaling an eventuality, but more born of personal fears. Look for where you can come together with the portion of your experience, however humble it may be, that you find is representative of what you want to see. I don’t mean come together to complain! Look for areas of commonality, harmony and agreement. This will help soothe and even out your energy, giving you more clarity. It’s a step towards living a happy life, which is kind of why we’re here.

Hope that’s helpful and hope you have an awesome week.

How’s your cake coming?
