Something Old, Something New: Weekly Tarot Flow, Nov. 17 -23

Tarot Flow Nov 17 -23

Somebody, somewhere said, “In every ending, there is a beginning.” That’s this week in a nutshell. A mash-up of endings leading to beginnings.

We’ve got a couple of Tarot Tens, which speak to wrapping things up, and a couple of Aces, which speak to starting something new. In between, there are choices, details, and a little shot of optimism. This could work! But it’s not all sunshine and roses, every minute. The bumps in the road look to be specifically related to integrating what you’ve learned so far into your now, your partnerships, and coming out the other end with a more solid, long-term vision for the future. You can do this!

Monday, Co-workers – Seven of Pentacles Reversed: Those damn people you work with just don’t always take the long term view Agh! Somebody needs to. Could it be you?

Tuesday, Past – Nine of Wands Reversed: What did you bail on before it was quite done? That’s the clean up left. Not a lot, but a little, and that little bit remaining is important.

Wednesday, Partner – Two of Swords: A choice to be made between you and your partner. Weight it out, and consider the facts. Take into account everyone’s needs, not just those of either self or other. Rational is the way to go here. Careful balancing will give you the best result. Be fair.

Thursday, Finances – Ace of Cups: A new financial opportunity…or even just a bit of optimism. A currently small but encouraging bright spot related to money.

Friday, Past Life – Wheel of Fortune Reversed: Something that seemed like bad luck at the time maybe was not. Why? It gave you something you needed, even if you didn’t know.

Saturday, You – Five of Swords: You can wipe up the floor with any opponents today. Don’t be a poor sport if you do, though.

Sunday, Pros – Ace of Pentacles: Efforts are especially productive today, even if it seems like just a “little bit.”

Advice/Overview – Ten of Cups: You can get your guidance this week form looking to your emotional states, and in particular which options you feel “at home” with. The best choices this week ring true to your heart, and feel consistent with your family heritage. In other words, those values you carry with you, possibly some so deep they seem to run in your blood? Honor them. Honor yourself. This will guide you.

Affirmation, Leadership – Archangel Gabriel: “It is time for you to assume your leadership power and position, and lovingly guide others.” In the context of this week’s reading, I’m seeing the need to be very clear about what works for you and take the lead on moving in that direction. The people that should be walking next to you down that path, will follow. Release attachment to who comes along. Release attachment to anyone else’s choices. Just make your own, and focus on maintaining a generous, loving attitude. Lead by example, and by conviction. A heart full of joy and love makes a very compelling example.

What’s your point? Weekly Flow Tarot, Oct. 27 – Nov 1, 2014

weekly-tarot-flow-oct27-nov1

Ever undertook a project that you never would have undertaken, had you had any clue how much it would entail? Don’t feel bad if the answer is a resounding, “Yes!” by the way. Sometimes, I think this is a trick my invisible friends use to get me to do just about anything. This week’s forecast makes me think of that phenomena. It’s the last mile of some journey, the part where you’re sick and tired of the whole shebang but there is still more to be done. Not a lot more, mind you. But more nonetheless.

But regardless of the weekly forecast, there is some reason to rejoice: Mercury has gone direct! He’s still a bit mottled in his shadow period for a few days, but before the week is out, he’ll be up to his regular hijinks. So let’s sit back a minute and thank God for that!

Okay, down to business!

Monday, Unconscious Desires – Knight of Wands: Be aware of just how bad you’re itching to break free. The Knight of Wands doesn’t know how to sit still; he’s always burning to get a move on. It would be easy enough to rationalize doing what you really want to do anyway. I’m not saying what you want to do isn’t the best choice. Just know WHY, okay?

Tuesday, Advice – Nine of Wands: This is quite an overwhelming scene! But in the position of “Advice,” the Nine of Wands is going to tell you to finish your business. Make sure each and every one of those Zombies is double-tapped, really dead and/or otherwise neutralized before moving on.

Wednesday, Coworkers – Nine of Cups: A lovely reprieve in the middle of what looks like it could be a challenging week. You have HELP. Woot for help! Whether this is a literal coworker, or a family member or friend who fills that role, there is a happy place here, a haven away from stress and strife, courtesy another who works by your side.

Thursday, Significator – Seven of Pentacles: What is the point, today, this whole week? Very clearly, what you’re building for the future. Lessons learned, seeds planted, foundation laid. That’s it!

Friday, Present – The Lovers: A good day not only for romance, but for appreciating what you have in the NOW. Because we are in the present, and we do have love in our lives. Right?

Saturday, What to Avoid – The Chariot: It’s unusual for me to draw a card like the Chariot in the position of “what to avoid,” since it’s generally a positive vibe. Not to mention it’s a bit at odds with the overall trend of the week, so it particularly catches my attention in such a context.  I want to say to you, be committed to your ultimate outcome, but not the road that must be travelled to get there. These are two different things, you know? Sometimes those side trips provide you with a lot more than you would have ever known if you hadn’t had any detours.

Sunday, Clarification – Ten of Swords: Overwhelm sinks in. Not my preference for wrapping up the week, but I just draw ‘em, I don’t pick ‘em! In the context of clarification, though, I’m going to say there has been a whole lot more going on than perhaps you were aware of throughout the week. That knowledge could well hit like a ton of bricks. Give yourself space to process.

Overview/Advice – The Empress: Throughout the week, keep in mind what you are actually creating here, what you’re giving birth to ultimately. That’s the point. That’s the reason for sticking things out until you’ve done what you need to do, and learned what you need to learn. The theme all week has been perseverance, yes, but not blind perseverance! It’s not about pure stubbornness. It’s conscious, guided perseverance we’re going for, as the Chariot and Empress gently remind.

Affirmation –Violet: Create a balanced life. It’s not always easy, it is? Not for me at least! All toghether, this weekly flow Tarot reminds me of a couple of questions that often come in handy for me:

  • What do I hope to accomplish here?
  • How is the action I’m contemplating contributing to that goal?

If you can honestly answer those two questions, you’re good to go. What’s your point? That’s what you need to be aware of this week. Know your point, know what you want to create, and you’ll have some direction in doing it.

Do you know your point?

Good in the Long Run? Weekly Tarot Forecast, 8/11–8/16

I was talking to someone about a recent event, something that upset me a lot.

“It’s no doubt a good thing in the long run,” I said. “It was upsetting but I needed to be more proactive than I was.”

That sums up this week’s forecast pretty well. It’s all about the long run.

Tarot Forecast Week of Aug 11 2014

When 5 of 7 daily draws are reversed, I know it’s going to be a challenging week. And oddly enough, this week ushers a meeting of the Tarot Kings. The only King who didn’t show up at the summit is the King of Swords. Does that mean a level head is going to be in short supply? Eeek!

I do expect plenty of action, though, as the Wands are kind of jumping out here. And we have a special appearance by a card somehow shuffled into the wrong deck, so of course I’m going to interpret that for you. Would you expect anything less? Ha!

Monday, Clarification – The Star Reversed: The situation is less important than how you FEEL about the situation. This looks like disappointment coloring assessment. It’s not the direness of it all that hurts, it’s the loss of hope. But you know, even reversed, this is a positive card. I think at least some of pessimism is unwarranted if not all of it. Maybe the outcome’s not what you wanted, but more importantly, it is what you needed?

Tuesday, Romance – King of Pentacles Reversed: I’d much rather see this King upright for the topic romance but since he isn’t, it’s a day when you may not want to act overtly possessive with your sweetie or partner. Allow space and remain friendly and supportive, keeping it light. I’m just seeing a potential for overwhelm and impatience with neediness. If you are currently sans sweetie, consider this advice in terms of any close relationships. Let it be light and fluffy as much as possible, okay?

Wednesday, Mind – Page of Cups Reversed: Emotions impact how you hear the message. Thinking may be cloudy or wires are likely crossed. Don’t sign anything or make irrevocable declarations until the fog lifts.

Thursday, Heart of the Situation – Nine of Wands: You have to stick it out! That’s the bottom line. Rewards come to those who don’t pack up their toys and go home, even if it appears you have very little support. Don’t give up!

Friday, Career – King of Cups Reversed: Engage the brain-mouth filter in any career interactions to save upset.

Saturday, Conscious Desires – King of Wands Reversed: Inertia is the curse of the King of Wands reversed. In the position of Conscious desires, he says, “I don’t wanna!” Compromise. Work some and play some.

Sunday, Resolution – Ace of Wands: This is a more productive day to work through your to-do list. Or at least, you could finish one, very important item on that list. Take advantage.

Overview/Advice – Four of Pentacles: You may feel scared, but you are also stable. Move through the week slowly and deliberately. You’ll make it!

Affirmation: My future is glorious. If you cannot believe it when you say it, do the one-step up. Maybe try, “My future could be bright.” And work you way from there.

Bonus card (hidden in the Deck of 1000 Spreads) – Seven of Pentacles: Between this and the affirmation, I’m finding some encouragement. Sometimes the day-to-day struggles become the trees for which we miss the forest. You know? This week is all about what needs to be done long term, what’s best in the long run. Sometimes, what’s best in the long run isn’t too exciting in the short run.But that doesn’t change the fact you’ll be glad you did what you needed to do…in the long run.

Are you dealing with “the long run” lately?

Illusion Ends! Weekly Flow Tarot, August 4 – 10

flow 001

Looking at this week at a whole. I’m thinking we’re talking a significant change of perspective…perhaps not entirely comfortable. Like when a child first realizes there is no Santa, it seems to be a week for outgrowing outmoded lessons. We’ve got a couple of Major Arcana (big deal) along with a mix of the other suits. But whatever form it takes in our lives, I’m really thinking it’s a long term re-orientation.

Monday, Question – Two of Wands: Black and white, this or that? While this art doesn’t show a faceoff, the Two of Wands usually implies one, although it may not be visible.  There is a choice of some sort. The job today is to clarify what it is you are choosing between.

Tuesday, Lesson – The Moon reversed: Looks like learning about some personal “crazy” – someplace where you may have been deceving yourself coming into focus. A little ouchy maybe, but good in the long run.

Wednesday, What to Take from the Past – The Hanged Man: Was there a time when your faith that everything would be okay was stronger? When you were more sure things would work out or you’d get exactly what you needed? That. That is good to bring with you into the now. Music, prayer and naps are saving graces. Showers and baths are also soothing.

Thursday, Relationship – The Fool Reversed: Don’t be petty, and don’t be surprised if somebody you’re connected to is a little petty. It’s a mood, it will pass.

Friday, Disappointment – Eight of Pentacles: Work can be so much…well, work. It’s not always exciting but responsibility can have it’s own rewards. If you’re not happy with where you are, start looking to take one step closer to where you’d like to be. It starts with now.

Saturday, Clarification – Four of Cups Reversed: Have your expectations been unrealistic? Daydreams gone amuck? Maybe what you’ve got isn’t so bad, really. It’s just not what you imagined. Maybe you can start imagining from today, huh? That’s a plan.

Sunday, What to Leave in the Past – Knight of Swords: Filters on the mouth are good. Being critical is not necessarily helpful. Saying everything you’re thinking when it is critical, not a great idea.

Overview/Advice, 7 of Pentacles: Everything this week, good bad and ugly, consider the long-term implications. You’re doing what you need to do to get where you need to get. It may not be where you expected, I got it. But hey, is it really that bad? Or does it maybe have possibilities you never imagined? Go there.

Affirmation: All is Well in my World. This is kind of self-explanatory, don’t you think? Appreciate what you’ve got, man. So many don’t have that. Be grateful. And be well. Have a great week!

Rewriting Your Childhood: Weekly Flow Tarot, June 23 – 27

Tarot Forecast, Jun 23 - 26

Mid-week bump:  This week has been…odd. I guess that’s the word for it, odd. Nothing happened, really. Nothing to speak of. But the vibe is…off. Like a video where the sound is just a little off sync, you know? Even today’s Gemini moon, which I was looking forward to, didn’t do it for me. I generally love Gemini moons. Today, I have the attention span of a 3-year-old hopped up on soda and Pixie stix.  I did the best I could with it.

And I took a mini-nap. Because one of my intentions has been to value and honor my natural rhythms. And my natural rhythm said stop trying to focus for a minute and just be…

As far as the forecast this week for me, personally, mostly I’ve just been thinking about these family issues. What being a mom means to me, how my mom and family has colored who and how I am. Wondering if I’m a good mom sometimes, butting in not too much, not too little, but “just right.”  I was one of those people that didn’t seek out becoming a mom. I wanted to play! Being a mom found me. I think I’m pretty good at it, most days. But then again, I have a reasonably high opinion of my opinion.

And I’ve been trying, really hard, to pick up more Lenormand! I enjoy the group we have and am really glad I opted for a private venue. It feels like coffee with some friends or something. Very nice vibe.

How y’all doing out there?

With the appearance of 3 Majors in 6 cards drawn, I know we’re looking at a week whose events reverberate for a long time after. I want to suggest you treat this week as sort of a microcosm of the life you’d like to build for yourself, you know what I mean? This week is like a play, and in extemporaneously acting it out, you’re writing the script for the coming months. Don’t script anything you wouldn’t like to sit through in reruns.

It’s also notable that the week is flanked with the Empress (as “What to Avoid”) and the Emperor (as “Negative Influences”). Venus and Mars will each have their say, and tend to a bit more than their say, apparently. With appearance of the Queen of Cups reversed (another maternal card), the Seven of Pentacles (in the “Friends and Family” position no less) and the Six of Cups reversed as an overview (nostalgia), it looks to be a week utterly brimming with issues having their root in childhood.

Is that a chorus of rejoicing I just heard? Har!

I just pull ‘em, I don’t pick ‘em, man.

Monday, What to Avoid – The Empress: Don’t fuss, muss or over-mother. Don’t jump into someone else’s creative process. Don’t pick up that pencil and finish the paper yourself if it ain’t got your name at the top. Meddling is a bad idea today! Take care of yourself and let others do the same. As I often say, butting out is an act of respect, demonstrating your faith in others to handle their own business.

Tuesday, Positive Influences – The Fool: Beginner’s mind and a fresh, unjaded outlook are the keys to exciting discovery. Curiosity and stepping forward without fear or preconceived conclusions take you the furthest. Consider the day an exciting experiment, and you are the scientist. No telling what will turn up!

Wednesday, Friends and Family – Seven of Pentacles: The emotional color of your inner circle relationships was planted long ago. If you feel good about how it has blossomed, awesome! If not, time to do a little weeding. But understand, we are definitely reaping what we’ve sown in this arena. Do you need to rethink your gardening plan?

Thursday, Future Life – Queen of Cups Rx: It’s not easy going forward. Emotional tides (sometimes enough to make you feel crazy) are to be expected. This is HOW you grow, so don’t think you’ll be able to sidestep it. But do know it’s temporary. What washes in, also washes out. Let it flow. A hot bath, peaceful music or a glass of wine are Dixie-approved coping mechanisms today. Drunk-dialing, not so much.

Friday, Negative Influences – The Emperor: Control freaking, a BAD idea. Dictators can expect a coup. Don’t put your foot down unless you’re okay with a potential revolt resulting. Ultimately, the person it’s most important you be able to control is yourself. But you know this!

Overview – Six of Cups Rx: Nostalgic moments from eons ago aren’t quite a magical the second time around, you know? I want to say a lot of the function of this week is learning to see our past with new eyes—adult eyes. Some bits of the past lose some of their luster looked at from an adult perspective. But some of what towered as insurmountable, you’ll find much less imposing. There’s a bittersweet feel to this process to me.

Affirmation: It is natural for my body to be well. In the context of the weekly flow, seek to heal whatever is “unwell” instead of living your life with a limp. This can be (and often is) an emotional limp, naturally. But the task this week is realizing that you don’t need to walk funny anymore. If you’ll skip the bossy-boss routine and focus on yourself, you will be able to make strides potentially releasing some very old angst. That’s worth a few scrapes over, if you ask me.

The bonus here is that your physical health may well improve for your efforts.

Perspective with Plans / Weekend Flow, May 31–Jun 1

May 31 Weekend Flow

Are you feeling the shadow of Mercury Retrograde yet? I’m seeing little signs of the next retro coming in now (June 7-July 1). I’ve got myself a boatload of Mercurial goodness, so I tend to tune in to his schedule anyway. But I’m thinking he’s already planning his retrograde hijinks now that the shadow has started. Be ready to think on your feet!

With two Pentacles cards and one from the Wands suit, it’s going to be a good weekend for grounding activities—going outside, exercising, cooking, gardening, or everybody’s favorite, sex! Being fully present, in the moment and in your body, along with a go-with-the-flow approach, helps keep life pleasantly on course this weekend.

Saturday, Reversed Three of Pentacles: Expect social plans going slightly awry. Flexibility has the potential to be the saving grace of the day. I wouldn’t expect an apocalyptic mess. Just don’t overreact to last-minute schedule changes or unexpectedly unavailable cohorts. I’d also avoid a rush to judgment over this behavior, because it’s likely the facts are not in.

Sunday, Seven of Pentacles: Patience IS a virtue today. The vibe favors long-term preparations of any sort. Of course, no question it would be a great time to work in your garden—that’s what the guy pictured is doing! But it’s also a good time to go grocery shopping, or update your budget (Pentacles, hello!) or wash clothes for the coming week or organize your closet by season and color. (Sorry, that was a Virgo moment we just had there.) The point is that anything you do today to make tomorrow easier has an especially solid payoff. But you’re totally good standing back and admiring your progress prepping for the future, too.

Coping, Queen of Wands Reversed: Avoid stubbornness or temper tantrums. I’m seeing the possibility for blurting criticism with immediate regrets to follow, so watch your mouth, eh? Too much type A behavior and you may be apologizing to somebody before the weekend is through!

Affirmation: “I see my parents as tiny children who need love.” Now, that’s kind of an odd affirmation (to me), but it’s interesting in the context that of something that’s been on my radar—how very much we carry our childhood with us, and how unconsciously. We give our parents such power over our own self-definitions, when in truth they are every bit as jacked up as we are. Sometimes more. We carry that into our relationships with one another and our own children.

In the context of this weekend’s forecast, that affirmation suggests knee-jerk reactions or out-of-kilter emotional responses that crop up may be connected to old childhood issues. And what’s more, your folks probably didn’t have any better idea of how that impacted you than the people that could be triggering the same thing now.

Does this fit with your weekend?
