Seven of Swords: Don’t Take A Vote!

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man. True nobility lies in being superior to your former self. -Ernest Hemmingway

I’m used to being in my own little world, to some degree or another. I’m good with that, though. I do my best to make it a good world. Better every day.

And I’m particular about what I want in my world. Discriminating, you could even say. (And you would say, if you’re a Virgo.)

This week, the cards suggest a discriminating approach for us all.

Seven of Swords: Don't Take A Vote! 1

We’ve got the Seven of Swords (or Air, from The Good Tarot) along with Magnolia–Nobility & Self-Esteem from Botanical Inspirations deck. Together, they are telling me to keep on tuning in to inner guidance without seeking permission from anybody else. The focus is on taking stock of your own business.

Make up your own mind. And allow everybody else to make up theirs. Give yourself permission not to fix. You don’t need to adjudicate. It’s enough to live in accordance with what rings true in your heart. That is a function of grounding yourself and tuning in, not group consensus.

[bctt tweet=”Feel your way through. The heart hears true. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

That heart never leads you astray.

If you want a little help getting plugged in, hit me up for a 1-on-1.

Seven of Swords: Under Wraps

Still on the “don’t overthink it” train here, as I hear myself dishing up versions of that advice left, right and backward.

Which also means, it still applies to me. Or I wouldn’t find myself in the position of amplifying that message.

Damn it.

Go with the flow.

Be easy, Breathe. Give yourself time to let the details fill in for you.

The path is yours and just yours. FEEL your way through.

Nobody knows what you’re doing better than YOU. Even if you don’t know quite yet. Because you will.

In the Cards for This Week

We have the Seven of Swords–that’s a card of holding your own, being true to yourself without weighing in outside opinion.

And we’ve got Nasturtium–Victory & Conquest. We don’t win by defeating other people. We win each time we are true to who we are, in the purest form of our spirit. When we act in harmony with the spark of the divine that is who we are, at the core?  That’s how we win.

Steer with your feelings, and keep the details to yourself. (Video here.)

It’s not necessary to get outside confirmation of your thoughts. In fact, it’s counterproductive and you can’t travel far on borrowed confidence. You definitely want to grow your own confidence this week by letting the details fill in on their own. They will. Just breathe deeply and give it a minute.

[bctt tweet=”Forget outside confirmation. Seek INSIDE confirmation. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

That’s all there is to do. Relax and lean into the faith you’ll figure out the best path as you travel it. You not only can, but you will. Look for the signposts of blessing along the journey and it’s sure to be sweeter than it would have, otherwise. It helps you create a more beautiful now-reality.

Do you have some changes brewing?

This week’s forecast features the Good Tarot (because I’ve been digging on the artwork) and the Botanical Inspirations Deck (because it’s been speaking clearly to me). Want to look at your personal business? Give me a holler.

Ill-informed Urges: Weekly Tarot, April 24-30, 2017

You ever get that itch, to DO something, deal with something right-this-very-second–not so much because you think the issue is ripe for the undertaking, but more because you just want it d-o-n-e-done? That? I call it “crisis mode” and I became well acquainted with the state during custody hearings years ago and many times since, as a parent. Because parenting can be hard.

But really, that urge to “get this shit over with” never really did much helpful that I can tell. Faith goes further.

This week, I’d suggest you soothe yourself and do as little as possible to get immediate relief and nothing beyond that, if you are feeling that way.

Ill-informed Urges: Weekly Tarot, April 24-30, 2017 2

Plenty of Swords in the coming week’s forecast–some worry and clouded presentations to be anticipated. Information isn’t complete or clear cut and the urge to act anyway grows. I’d say don’t do anything drastic, though, because it seems likely it WILL NOT turn out as intended. Force won’t work. Just little seeds you can plant (Ace of Pentacles), some of which may grow up nicely. Mmm’kay?

Video Transcript

Hi. This is Dixie from A Fool’s Journey. I am here to do your Tarot forecast for April 24th through 30th, 2017.

Okay. Let’s see what we got here. Boom, boom, boom. I’ve got the Gilded Tarot deck. It’s a pretty deck. I love this deck.

Oh goodness. Swords, swords, cups…ah.

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at this, is…sigh. A lot of questionable words going around, and people who think they know what’s going on, but they don’t necessarily know. The truth.

We’ve got King of Swords, Nine of Swords, and Seven of Cups reversed to start. So going into the week there’s a sense of, maybe you were sort of clear on it to begin with, but then you start worrying about it and the guilt sets in.

And there are all these other inputs. Or sources of information that’s just kind of mucking things up. So eh. Be aware of that.

Okay? Moving in, going through the week, I’m seeing this, Seven of Swords reversed, Three of Swords reversed, as a tendency to want to hide what you find, what you think others will find unacceptable.

And not only what you think, but what you feel like. Like somebody, you know, lying to their boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever. Or hiding an expenditure from their spouse. It has that kind of feel to it to me.

And the worry being that there’s not gonna be love or acceptance. That really doesn’t feel very good. We end the week with action, although I don’t know necessarily that it’s inspired action. Because it’s the High Priestess reversed. So the outcome of this is something does happen, but I’m not sure if it’s what we want to happen.

But…to clarify it, I pulled a secondary card on that and I got Ace of Pentacles. So in this, do, do the least that you can.

We’ve got a lot of planets retrograde. It’s kind of a murky, mucky time. So do, do what relieves a little bit of the pressure, but don’t, like, “Okay. This has to be a grand gesture, this is gonna fix everything that’s ever been wrong!” ‘Cause how often does that crap work, anyway? You know?

But in this case, little bit, little bit, little bit, okay? And then for the outcome/advice, I have got Justice reversed. Um, don’t try to force what you consider to be fair, because that will throw you off balance.

Your balance, your happiness, your peace of mind, you comfort level in your own head and in your own life and in your own little circle is THE MOST important thing! That’s your job. It’s not your job to fix your kids or your spouse or your coworkers or your neighbors or your Facebook friends. It’s your job to take care of you! Do what you need to do to do that; let everybody else do their own jobs.

Okay? That’s my forecast for you. I hope it’s helpful. Let me know how your week went. Does this help? Does this, kinda, help keep you in the zone? Let me know.

Take care, peace out from Dix the Zen Goddess. Ommmmmm! Bye-bye.

Harder than it Needs to Be: Weekly Tarot, Mar 13 – 19, 2017

There was one trap I used to trip into, time and time and time again when back I did tech work. I’d research how to  do this or that, and look advice from all over for the PERFECT way to go about it. Without fail, the “perfect way” was always ridiculously demanding and difficult to accomplish without far more resources than I had readily available.

Perfection is also very subjective, no? We all have different needs and goals. So another person’s perfect solution would look different from mine. Becuase MY perfect solution takes into account what I can easily do versus what’s a huge struggle.

But I didn’t think like that. I’d still pine for “perfect” or at least “best possible” and try very hard to make that happen. It sounds good but most of the time, I didn’t have the [knowledge / skills / software / time/ help / pick one or more] required to effectively execute. So there were lots of things I ended up making WAY harder than they needed to be. “Good enough” might be readily within my grasp, but I wasn’t pleased when I knew better could be achieved and if I tried harder–much, much harder–maybe I could get there?

I cannot count the number of nights I was up way too late, sitting in front of a computer and cussing myself for committing to way more, way fancier, than necessary. I can’t say I’m entirely over that–too much Virgo in me, yo. But I notice it and have made a lot of progress (or I’d NEVER be able to produce videos for y’all).

When I took a look at this spread, the overriding message was loud and clear.

You’re making it harder than it needs to be.

If that’s as far as you read, you’ll have what you really need to know. Back up a bit and focus singularly on where you want to go, leaving the how out of it.

[bctt tweet=”Manage your own feelings and leave the rest of the world to manage theirs. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

But if you want more? Here are the bullet points, man.

Next week in Bullet Points

  • Monday, Six of Swords rx: Willpower alone will not get you there. There’s a requirement: letting Universal forces work instead of plowing ahead doggedly in the only direction you think will work. It won’t be the path expected and it absolutely cannot be forced. Yielding will get you where determination will not go.
  • Tuesday, Six of Pentacles rx: With Venus retrograde, make sure how you distribute resources reflect current values and not old news. Review and realign based on what’s valuable to you NOW.
  • Wednesday, Two of Swords rx: You cannot make other people’s decisions and if you try too hard to push ’em? Prescription for disaster.
  • Thursday, Page of Swords rx: Mixed messages. Be wary of (yourself or others) saying one thing but in actuality, meaning another. Don’t say what you think they wanna hear. Just lay down tracks of unadorned truth, but sprinkle some kindness on top if you can. It’s a smidge edgey.
  • Friday, Seven of Swords rx: Something that you think nobody is watching? Watched. Always behave in a way in private that you’d be comfortable with becoming public, if ever it did.
  • Saturday, Temperance rx. Don’t overdo the drinks! Tendency to over-indulge or act without sufficient restraint. DESIGNATED DRIVER! No unnecessary risks.
  • Sunday, Nine of Pentacles rx: Tendency toward rawness, coarseness, maybe not intentional but there are still sharp edges on interactions. Presentation is not refined. Focus on the message and not the frilly edges and realize your own words may have the same rough, ragged edges to listeners.
  • Overview/Advice: Eight of Swords. You can do what you’re ready to do when you’re ready to do it. All those external factors making it harder? Let ’em go, emotionally. Forget justifications. Just shift your focus from fears to desires to let the path open up for you. Faith, my friends, is your savior here.

Just focus on where you want to go, and don’t try to micromanage the rest of the world. It’s the scripting that is throwing people off. “If I say this, he will say that and she will do this…” That kinda stuff. I would expect that approach to backfire like an old clunker next week. On the other hand, eyes on your own lane and you’ll make it through the week with flying colors.

Do you often make things harder than they need to be?

See what you can do about that, if you do. And be well!

Path is Personal: Weekly Tarot, Aug 1 – 7

How much does what other people think of you matter to you?

I have often wondered how it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, but yet sets less value on his own opinions of himself than on the opinions of others. –Marcus Aurelius

This issue has been on my radar. It’s wonderful to feel appreciated and understood. It’s validating. It just feels damn good! But when you’re not feeling that, how much adjustment are you willing to undergo? Do you really think you can do enough head-standing and back-flipping to please someone else?

Not to mention, that’s a job I don’t want! Let’s say I was able to contort myself enough to keep another happy for the sake of argument. Well, yippee for me. All that means is I’ve signed on to a job of being someone I’m not to obtain approval that feels disingenuous from the start because it is! It’s not who I am, it’s pretend. The very premise is disempowering to both parties.

It says to the other, “You are not able to produce your own happiness without my performance.”

It says to me, “It’s not okay to be fully myself. I must hide and contort and sacrifice my identity. Any acceptance I find this way is hollow because it’s based on a projection.”

There are no winners in this scenario.

I would argue that it’s not ever my business what someone else thinks about me, and furthermore, it’s never about me. Never. Any individual’s point of perception is about themselves, where they are, how they look at the world. They can like what they see looking at me or not like what they see, but the liking or not liking is always about the person who is liking or not liking.

We stagger through life sometimes, not only looking to create a long list of what’s definitively “right and wrong,” but much worse, we undertake the impossible task of trying to force others to subscribe to our lists of good and evil. That is a pointless endeavor if ever there was one.

This week? Don’t try to assert your list onto others. Your list of what works for you or what doesn’t is for YOU and you alone. Withdraw your attention from anyone who is trying to assert their list unto you. Just be true to yourself, as purely as you can. Strictly speaking? This is advice for always. But I’m thinking it may come into play this week.

20160716_134658_HDR

With several reversals, I’m expecting slow progress and potential for frustrations and delays. With Uranus–the planet of big surprises and freedom going retrograde–this isn’t a big surprise. The week goes smoother if you know things will just take time and remain ready to roll with the flow.

Monday, The Star rx: Make a conscious decision to reach for optimism–folks are having trouble holding on to it and it really is healing and helpful.

Tuesday, Four of Pentacles: Stable, solid day. Anxiety is possible, but pointless. Expect stability and “no change” today. Relax into it as much as you can.

Wednesday, Seven of Swords: An excellent time to keep your own counsel. Operate under the radar and draw no attention to what you’ve got going on.

Thursday, The World rx: I don’t know about you, but I’ve been taking regular “news breaks.” Not breaks to watch news. Breaks as in avoiding news, limiting news. There’s a lot of jarring energy out there and it serves us well to limit how much we consume at a given time.

Friday, Page of Pentacles rx: Book light today, as energy may be a bit depleted after the week. Y’all know I’m a big fan of naps! Self-care, quiet time, and a lighter-than-normal schedule are all very soothing and helpful.

Saturday, Five of Wands rx: Step back from the conflict and don’t make it your own. Look for points of agreement instead of differences. There are plenty of both, but far too few people focusing on the agreements and far too many focusing on contention.

Sunday, King of Swords rx: Incomplete information; don’t be quick to cut out options. Take it slow and wait for facts to emerge. A great day to look for what you want and like, softly, and ignore what you don’t, completely.

Overview/Advice: Three of Swords rx: We feel what we feel, and there is nothing wrong with whatever we feel. But we also decide, courtesy of our focus, where our emotional setpoint lies. If you’ve got heartache or tears, fair enough. I would never suggest you deny any emotions. They provide valuable guidance. I would, however, suggest not wallowing, not milking the pain–Scorpio moons, I’m looking at you! Feel whatever you feel, and release. Feel and release. Then turn your focus on what lifts you up. Because you know what? We can all benefit from uplifting. Tip: If you get less specific about thoughts that bother you (and more specific on thoughts you enjoy), you’ll feel better pretty quickly.

Affirmation: Worrying about illness can create more illness. To make this more widely applicable–there is not a damn problem in the history of humanity that’s been solved by worrying hard enough. As a super Virgo, I can state this as a fact. So why do that to ourselves?

What worrying does is amplify the subjective experience of what’s unwanted by activating it in our vibrations, consciousness, our emotional bodies. Of course I see plenty wrong in the world–and I see plenty right. When I see hate, I can hate the hate (thus adding to the sum total of hate) and draw attention to it (thus giving it more airplay and momentum). Or I can decide I’d rather see love and embody that love, thus adding to the sum total of love. If enough do this, you get a collective tipping point where love overpowers the hate. Every subject has both poles–what you want surrounding it and what you don’t. Rather than adding energetic support to what I don’t want, I’m going to embody what I do want. Feels a lot better and does some good at the same time. I don’t freak out about worry. I just look to notice it and release it: not by “not thinking about it,” but by crowding out those worry thoughts with the more empowering thoughts of what I do want instead.

This forecast uses the Tarot Nova with an Abraham-Hicks affirmation card. You probably already know about Dixie’s book, Everyday Tarot Archives and the whole consult thing.

Shady! Weekly Tarot Forecast, July 4 – 10

I get a funny, slightly disturbed feeling being lied to. Like milk that’s going bad, you know? It’s almost, but not quite right. It generally hits my solar plexus. It’s not always very noticeable–and my desire to believe can lead me to disregard it. Many times, it has. But the feeling itself is still valid, and very reliable.

I almost never say anything, when I get that feeling.

That is what this forecast reminded me of. That shady, “off” feeling–and the decision not to say anything about it.

20160702_175811_HDR

Looking at this forecast as a whole, there’s sort of a “shady” feeling about it. Like there is plenty to misconstrue, a bit of confusion. I’m seeing one of those shell games, or 3 Card Monte. I’m not saying someone is actively trying to con you. But truthfully? It’s a possibility. Although much of the time, people con themselves. That, too, is a possibility this week. Most of these cards are minor arcana, however. So I’m thinking the confusion doesn’t have super long-term consequences. Of the week, Friday’s recommendation for self-care and the overview of taking some time to yourself are the most important parts to note.

While Mars is now direct and that feeling of trudging through mud is abating, this week still feels slower-moving than most. Progress is possible, but gradual. Two steps forward, one step in a completely random direction and…where the Hell was I going again? Like that. So take your time, okay? Rushing not advised. Roll with it, friends!

Monday, 7 of Cups Rx: This smacks of self-delusion, very possibly a “too good to be true” thing that, unsurprisingly, isn’t. Listen to the intuitive nudge of feedback–specifically, that one you’d like to ignore. Because if you don’t…well, you’re gonna be cussing yourself in the morning, Ya dig?

Tuesday, 4 of Cups: Content or complacent? That’s a matter of perspective. Either way, there’s more interest in dreaming about what could be today than actually taking action on the issue. If you have the choice, I’d schedule light today because it doesn’t seem super productive. But if you get a chance for a little daydreaming, the energetic weather should support that.

Wednesday,  Knight of Swords Rx: Somebody isn’t getting the message. Is it you? If you have important info to communicate, verify the recipient actually receives your message and understands what you’re trying to say. It may take more than one attempt to exchange information. There is also potential for muddied thinking and getting facts mixed up so double check your details. The necessary info is there, it’s not missing, but it could be in the wrong place. Like a form that has the right answers, but on the wrong lines.

Thursday, 8 of Cups: Release. Let it go! The hurt feelings and the what-if’s and the but-they-should-have-knowns. All of it. If it causes you pain or holds you back, step away. If you cannot yet do this literally, do it emotionally. Focus specifically and intentionally on what encourages you and makes you feel good and set aside the rest.

[bctt tweet=”Focus on what supports you and leave behind what doesn’t. ” username=”goddess_dix”]

Friday, The Empress Rx: Mama could use some love. If you’ve been busting tail looking after everybody else, today is a good day to look after YOU. A little play time, in particular, will replenish your giving well.

Saturday, 7 of Swords: Uh oh. Something is going down under the radar. Somebody lying? Maybe. If you have a difficult maneuver to pull off, you can today: provided you keep your mouth shut about it! There is just more going on than meets the eye. That’s not necessarily a problem, but it could be, depending. Don’t assume all the relevant facts are in the open.

Sunday, 4 of Pentacles: All is well. You are safe, and you made it through a tricky week just fine. It’s a good day to stay home and eat, if you have the option! Conserve your energy and resources and replenish yourself for the week coming up.

Overview/Advice, The Hermit: If you feel stressed out, frazzled or confused at any point this week, retreat! Go off by yourself for a bit and meditate. Or read. Or study whatever appeals to you. Or just sit, in nature and quiet. This will help SO MUCH, you have no idea. Don’t tell me you don’t have the time. Make the time. It will get you through any of the other difficulties with your equilibrium intact.

20160702_175753_HDRAffirmation: “My thoughts are in harmony with health.” This advice works to maximize physical health of course. But it also applies to any type of health–emotional, financial, relationship health, whatever.

Whether you feel sick or well, focus on the wellness. Focus on improvements and appreciation for what’s going right. If you find little to appreciate, go more general as opposed to specifics, as it’s easier to do. And if you have trouble conjuring wellness thoughts on any particular topic, distract yourself with pleasant thoughts and activities unrelated. The point is to fill your mind with pleasant thoughts and your body with pleasant feelings.

Possible affirmations? I feel good. I like feeling good. I’m getting better all the time. I’m getting stronger every day. I love making progress. Most of the time, I feel good. It’s a good day. I appreciate my body. I appreciate my mind. I like me!
