Four of Wands & Nine of Wands: Self-Contained Stability

“You would do well to get over caring what other people think about you.” I was talking to one of my Tarot peeps recently when I gave this advice.

I know, I know. It’s definitely easier said than done.

But think about when this comes up, okay? We don’t need this sort of reassurance unless we’re shakey. If you’re confident already, there is no drive to find the outside confirmation. You just know. And in terms of stability, “just knowing” is the best place to find oneself.

On the other hand, when someone is unsure on some level, it begins to feel important–even vital–to get all the people to sign on. Putting aside the fact that getting mass adoption for any vision is pretty much a physical impossibility, the underlying question is even more compelling: do you really want to depend on others for stability? Because if you need the agreement, that’s exactly what you’re doing.

Of course, I love to take people along for the ride when I find something that works for me. I value being of service and it means a lot to me that sometimes, my thoughts or perspectives are useful to others. BUT that doesn’t mean I need the approval to feel okay. I also don’t advise looking to be of service directly until you’re at a point you’re comfortable when people ignore your input or just flat out disagree. Otherwise, you’re still kind of screwed.

I aim for a very self-contained stability. That’s the only way to be unflappable, you know? That idea is right up there with looking to the conditions around me to decide if I’m happy or not. There is just no point in that unless I want to be at the mercy of whatever I happen to look at. Not for me! It can be done internally. That’s the only way to have stability. So I’d suggest you reach for that. And next week? You’ll probably get a chance to practice.

Next Week in Tarot

Four of Wands rx Nine of Wands

This week, the forecast is coming in as the Four of Wands reversed, with advice from the Nine of Wands. This is the lovely Star Tarot deck.

Expect the general psychic weather to be unsettled. People may not be feeling safe or at peace; there’s a sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Maybe it’s you or maybe it’s just other folks, but there is a definite sense of unrest here.

In terms of advice? Fear and worry are contagious. Don’t catch it! Stand your ground. Tired or not, look to remain centered and sane, okay? Assume that what you see going on around you has a purpose and contributes to the bigger picture, whether or not you feel privy to the bigger picture.

Maybe to the people following the news, this seems like a ridiculous stance. I understand how looking around and seeing things you don’t like is upsetting. I am certainly not immune. But I do know that I can manage my perspective to choose those thoughts and ideas that feel best to me. I do know I can decide how much grief or struggle I will expose myself to on a daily basis. I do know that whenever things get tough, there call for improvement (and hence the energy in that direction) intensifies. I do know there is every bit as much good in the world as bad. And I know I have the choice of what I focus upon.

Do whatever you can–whatever you must, really–to stay solid, grounded and well this coming week. Expect that some folks may struggle and of course, extend your compassion and loving energy in their direction when you see it. But don’t get on that oh-my-God-the-world-is-scary train, because it’s hard to get off and it’s not going anywhere you want to go, anyway.

Are you feeling steady, grounded and safe? What might you do to enhance that?

Be well, friends! And if you need a little reorienting, feel free to holler at me for a one-on-one.

Hierophant & Knight of Pentacles: Fill Your Own Cup First

I’ve felt kind of guilty lately. I have a long list of small commitments that remain unfulfilled. It’s not that I don’t mean to, but sometimes life distracts.

I also want to do the best I can with everything I do. Which means I have to be able to focus on it.

A person has to have their mind, body, and spirit mostly in sync to reach that clear, knowing, in-the-flow zone.  And to get <<==there, you’ve got to fill your own cup first.

So if I want to get more done, I’ve got to quit pushing and fussing at myself for not having it all done. Because even the most minor case of the guilties isn’t filling my cup. You can’t give what you don’t have. So I make a point of giving it to myself, first.

Next Week in the Cards

The week’s outlook is represented by The Hierophant, with advice coming in as the Knight of Pentacles from the (gorgeous) Star Tarot.

Of course we take action. But it’s best taken when you’re in the zone, clear, and focused.

You’ve got to fill your cup first. Relax, distract, get quiet, get centered. Take good care of your physical needs and be kind to yourself. Get your body and your emotions clear. Then you’ll know exactly what to do and when to do it.

Get in te zone and tune in.

Page of Pentacles Rx: Clear Signals

“You are your own authority.” That’s been swimming in my head and coming out of my mouth lately. It doesn’t mean you aren’t interested in learning more or interacting with others. It just means you trust yourself.

  • You trust yourself to attract the information you need, as you need it.
  • You trust yourself to be able to FEEL your way through.
  • You trust yourself to make sound decisions.
  • You trust yourself to do your best.
  • You trust yourself to receive what you’ve asked for.

When we try to tune ourselves to the will or beliefs of others, we always end up confused and frustrated. It’s an ever-morphing target, even if you choose a single individual to please.  When we manage our own tuner–step and up claim our rightful role being in charge of ourselves–life becomes easier and feels better. You don’t have to find outside reassurances. You can look to get your own clear signal.

Of course, the flip side of that is true as well. You have to stay the hell out of everybody else’s realm of authority. But hey. It’s a whole lot easier to love and appreciate them all if you don’t consider yourself responsible for managing their lives, either.  You can love them without trying to fix them. ♥

Next Week in Tarot

Page of Pentacles Rx, Queen of Swords

Cell phone camera + old lady eyes = crapshoot photography, folks. My apologies.

Here, we’ve got the Princess of Pentacles reversed (aka the Page of Pentacles) along with the Queen of Swords from the Star Tarot deck.

Next week’s outlook–the reversed Page–speaks of misconstructed messages and partially understood facts. There’s a hint of information but it’s incomplete and potentially out of context.

All will come into clearer, more actionable focus when you apply the Queen of Swords’ energy to utilize her superpower: cool, clear logic.

One of my strongest Queen of Swords keywords is “discrimination.” Be discriminating about the information you ponder upon as it definitely colors your perceptions! Don’t be in a hurry to act. Let clarity guide your movements over outside stimulus. Let the facts flesh themselves out and make decisions based on what makes the best, most logical sense to YOU. The Queen may listen to counsel but she doesn’t require consensus. She just requires a clear signal.

Armchair Astrology: Venus Rx

User note: That title means I’m not a real astrologer and I don’t play one on the internet.

I’m feeling this Venus Retrograde (October 5 to November 7) fairly loud at the moment.  Think topics surrounding love and money you may well neigh have believed long dead resurrected. Personal zombies, just in time for Halloween. Are you excited yet?

This is what my psychic soundtrack is playing. Coincidence? Har!

I do find Venus retrogrades a very good time to review where your money has been going and make sure the flow matches what you most value.

And that’s kind of what we’ve been talking about the whole time, isn’t it? Focusing your attention in ways consistent with what you most value and letting the rest of the world do the same. Your job is getting your signal clear.

How you doing on tuning that signal?

p.s. If you want help tuning, give me a holler for a personal session.

Five of Cups & Chariot (Again)! : Softly Moving Forward

In my other (not-as-woo) enterprises, I sell books. The last few weeks, sales have been agonizingly absent.

Now, I could have let this lead to getting anxious or worked up or scared. That sort of thing creeps in sometimes, but for the most part, I’ve been framing this as an opportunity. It’s a nudge to up my own game, you know? Time and space to improve. Motivation to learn more. So much inspiration I would never have found, had I not been in the position to seek it directly.

I really think everything anyone does is the same. When we find ourselves in circumstances that are not to our liking, it’s not indication we’re screwing up somehow. It’s an opportunity–neigh, an outright call–to level up. Without things not working with way you’d like, you’d never be prompted to improve you know. (And yes, the sales are starting to come back, the way they always do.)

Here we’ve got the Five of Cups and the Chariot, both reversed, from the Star Tarot Deck. I have some mixed feelings about using reversals with the intricacy of the images on this deck, but that’s how they came out and I feel it’s appropriate to take into account the reversals.

But the really funny thing? These were the exact same two cards I drew (in a completely different incident) for last week. So repetitive Tarot is repetitive!

First and foremost, the sense of pain out in the wild (from the world at large) should be diminishing, along with the feeling of forcefulness in general. Energy is still moving, but it’s slower and softer than before, which will no doubt come as a relief to most as we’re all sensitive to varying degrees. I’m seeing this less “more of the same” and more “it’s easing.”  This is good news. It doesn’t make it all suddenly feel very soft and fluffy, but I’m seeing this as a definite, collective sense of relief.

The advice I’m seeing in this is to back off a little. Less categorizing of good and bad and less focusing on the fixes. You feel what you feel but don’t grasp at it and milk the emotions, you know? Let go of any grief you’ve got going, at least to the extent you are able. Don’t try to force change or lead the charge. Just take a step back and exhale. Generally, there’s not a bad time for that anyway.

[bctt tweet=”Let the world do whatever it does. You do whatever is true to YOU. #OnMyRadar” via=”no”]

It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing. Whether you love what you see or absolutely hate it, you always have the choice of how to frame it.  It can either be “proof” of disaster, or prompt for changes. You can BE whatever part of the situation you choose. Personally, I want to ride the change, the new and the improved. And I know damn well that the existence of the old mess is what drives the improvement into the new reality. So I’m good with that.

How are you doing with changes?

If you need a little help with your framing, give me a holler for a one-on-one. And be as happy as you can out there, friends!

Queen of Swords: Focusing on What?

So, I got my project wrapped up. I expected it to take me about 2 or 3 days. Instead, it took two weeks of very intense attention. I pulled some long work days and just wrapped it up late Thursday night.

Now, I was less-than-enchanted with the entire endeavor, until I realized something very relevant: the end result was completely worth the trouble. There were a number of issues that went awry and each one I fixed in turn. This back and forth, catalyzed by what I didn’t want really made a difference in what I got in the end. I would not have touched any of the side issues had they not broken. So yes, there was plenty of cussing and frustration. Yes, I could have finished in a couple of days if everything had gone the way I’d planned. And yes, the finished product would have been inferior had it gone the way I’d planned.

Looking at it that way makes me glad so much stuff broke! A legitimate bright side right there, front and center. If you can find one, I always urge you to adopt the bright side. It pays off.

Aside: Thanks to those who wished me well with the stuff I have been working on last week, either directly or in your heart. I know you’re sending me your goodwill and I do appreciate it very much. ♥ An especially bright side for me.

This next week, I’d encourage you to keep looking for your own bright side and keep that vision central when you’re making decisions and taking action.

[bctt tweet=”See what’s broken for what it really is: impetus forward.” username=”goddess_dix”]

Next Week in Tarot

The overall outlook is represented by the Queen of Swords with advice coming in from the Knight of Swords from the gorgeous Star Tarot Deck. Now, seeing this duo, right away I know, words will be flying over the next week. Not much of a surprise, huh? Words are already flying. But I’ve got more than obvious observations to share here.

This Queen is clear, focused and discriminating. There is (and will be) plenty going on. That doesn’t mean she (or we) need to digest all of it. That’s a surefire recipe for an upset stomach! What you don’t want provides the most value in spurring you towards what you DO want. So acknowledge it and then move forward. The queen focuses on her goals and anything that doesn’t contribute to those goals gets discarded. That’s a very effective approach.

What topic of focus is most in line with your values and intentions? Problems serve a purpose: they help identify areas of improvement and that’s where we want the greatest bulk of our energy to go.

What serves your greater purposes? THAT is where to direct your attention. This is a big world and we have lots of choice on how we spend our energy. Anything else is just a distraction. And if there’s one thing the Queen of Swords will not abide, it’s distraction.

The Knight would advise us to convey our ideas and messages with clarity. Dix would advise you to be mindful of tact, but not everybody listens to her. Har!

Thing is, if communication is especially sharp, critical or loud (whether or not you consider it accurate), anyone who does not agree already will tune it out. Factor your goals into your overall approach. If your goal is only to be heard, volume will suffice. On the other hand, if your goal is to inform, persuade or otherwise influence…well, doing so from a connected place will give you far more power than any other approach.

In other words, keep your head clear this coming week. When you see something you perceive as wrong, you can let it be discouragement to you or of service to you. The choice is yours.

What are you focused on?

Give me a holler for a personal visit if you want a little realignment.

Empress Rx: Rough Birth

As I write this, I’m still neck deep in a personal web project that was supposed to take a couple of days. It’s been over a week of hammering away and I’m still not there. I’m close, but not there. It’s also looking like I may need to go diving deep into databases, code and all sorts of techie muck.

It also reminds me why I quit doing tech work for other people. The end result will still be worth it, but I’m not loving the getting there part as much as I’d like. While I doubt anybody reading this is in the same boat as me exactly, I would not be surprised if you had some similar feelings about something important to you going down in your life.

And you know why I wouldn’t be surprised? These cards.

Next Week in Tarot

This week, we have the Empress reversed for the general outlook, along with Temperance for the advice from the gorgeous Star Tarot Deck. (Isn’t this a great deck? The cards are very large, oversized, so it’s clumsy as all get-out to shuffle but I think it would make a fabulous deck for pathworking if it’s catching your fancy.)

I want to say something’s just not working and it’s draining to boot. Your me-time may get put on hold to some degree or another while it’s sorted. Like a “breech birth” of a project or intentions. It’s coming out, yes, but all upside down!

But not all is lost. You can and do get helpful clarification through addressing what’s going wrong for sure, and you can use that to make the end result better.

[bctt tweet=”Problems coach you into better outcomes.” via=”no”]

Take some of what you wanted and some of what you didn’t and mix them together to make a better mix. Temperance is particularly suggestive of taking advice or listening to other opinions as well. Consider inspiration and input from unlikely or unrelated sources, as they are likely to hold a key piece of the puzzle. You can take disparate pieces to make a surprisingly cohesive whole.

Just remember as you plug your way through whatever you’ve got to plug your way through, it’s all okay. It WILL work out and you’ll get back to where you want to be. Take a deep breath and be still a moment. Listen for inspiration. Be aware you may be getting helpful hints from outside sources, either directly or indirectly, with a word or comment that can inspire solutions. Don’t let your self-care completely go, even if you have to adjust what and how much for a minute.

Hang in there! The end will be better for it, even if the middle isn’t quite what you want.

Are you feeling this? I hope not but either way, it will work out. Okay?

Be well, friends.

p.s. If you’d like to hook up with me for a one-on-one, just give a holler.
