03/15/14: Flavor of Words / Knight of Swords Rx

Knight of Swords Reversed

When the Knight of Swords appears reversed, I always think, “Watch your mouth.” When it’s in the position of being a lesson, I think about the impact of your words.

In Hebrew, the word “Ruach” means wind or spirit. It’s the same thing. Your words, the utterances from your mouth, have LIFE. Speaking aloud gives life to your ideas and it sends that energy out into the universe.

The lesson is about not bandying about words carelessly. Those tossed out without thought come back to bite you in the ass. Make your words sweet, lest you end up eating them!

Can you apply this lesson in your life?

03/14/13: And Now, the Good News / The Magician

The Magician Steampunk Tarot

“A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.” –David Brinkley

And now, the good news: for “Success,” we’ve got the Magician! Yesterday, it was a fight. Today, triumph is in your hands.

I love to see the Magician here because he’s Mercury’s man—he succeeds through his clear thinking, utilizing the power of his will to effectively direct his energy. Nothing is wasted when he takes matters into his own hands. And with the Magician, it’s all in his hands!

If you’ve got to mop up some messes,  so be it. Just know you can.

Are you taking matters into your own hands?

03/13/14: First the Bad News / 5 of Swords

Five of Swords

I’ve got good news and bad news. First (today), the bad news shows up in the form of the Five of Swords paired with “cons.”

You’re going to have to fight your rights. No if’s, and’s or but’s. Without a fight, you’re dead in the water today. Be prepared to stand up for what’s yours and defend yourself. Sorry! I much prefer those roses and rainbows where the world serves you its adulation on a perfumed silver platter.

But today ain’t one of those days!

However, stay tuned (tomorrow) for the good news!

You having to fight for right?

12/17/13: Stuck in a Stick Fight / 5 of Wands, 2 of Pentacles

Treating your adversary with respect is striking soft in battle. –Samuel Johnson

Five of Wands Two of Pentacles Steampunk Tarot

These two cards flopped out of the deck together, so I am reading them together. We’ve got the Five of Wands and Two of Pentacles from the Steampunk Tarot staring us in the face.

Sometimes people get frustrated because other people cannot or will not remotely approach their own expectation of “reasonable.” Beyond a potential rush from a dose of righteous indignation, this approach doesn’t offer much in the way of net gains.

You MUST effectively juggle conflicting perspectives or goals to navigate effectively today. In other words, you may be expected to take in consideration strong feelings or viewpoints that in no way, shape or form resemble your own. You may be asked to transcend your personal, strongly-held belief structure to function within a group or resolve a seemingly unresolvable issue.

You can do this, but it takes effort—and self-control.

It’s not about abandoning your identity or core values. It’s about knowing exactly what those issue are, and being generous with what those issues are not. You dig?

Don’t dig your heels in unless it truly matters, and be prepared to let go of the rest. That’s the only way you’ll be able to avoid spending the whole day whacking and being whacked with a bunch of sticks.

You stuck in the middle of a stick fight?

12/16/13: Tears and Naps / 5 of Cups

Five of CupsOh man…it’s the Five of Cups! Somebody’s crying in their beer today. Or crying over spilt beer, maybe.

It is what is it, you know? We win some, we lose some. Today, it’s about losing some. It’s okay to feel the pain. It’s okay to be sad. Release whatever tears need to be let go.

And then clean up that mess best you can and consider taking a nap Tears are healing, but so are naps!

You feeling this? (Dixie asks, flinching.)

12/15/13: Attachment Purge / 10 of Wands Reversed

Page of Wands

What are you carrying that you don’t need to be carrying? That’s what I’m seeing with the reversed Ten of Wands today. If you don’t really need to be holding on to that problem/grudge/annoyance/responsibility/whatever, then for God’s sakes, let it go!

If it’s truly “not your problem,” don’t act like it is. This can be a challenge sometimes, I know, I know! But the payoff is well worth it. A little attachment purge may be in order.

Do you see opportunity for an “attachment purge?”
