Ten of Pentacles Rx: Mind Your Own Affairs

I was hanging out with a friend recently. She was talking about catching some grief for befriending folks who live to a different standard than she (and the other person) follows.

The specific differences we’re talking are irrelevant, really.  It could have been a Republican to a Democrat or a Christian to an atheist or whatever. Anything that entails a differing set of beliefs about what’s moral and true would qualify.  The combinations are endless.

“They’re good people. That’s all I need to know. ”  In short, she doesn’t run someone’s life through any sort of ideological litmus test before opening up her heart.

I’ve got mad respect for that approach. I think it’s so much more fruitful to live the best life I can personally than to appoint myself director of everyone else’s choices.

This coming week, it would be a great approach to emulate. (And after that as well, but that’s another issue.)

Next Week in Tarot

For the outlook, we’ve got the Ten of Pentacles (reversed) and advice was the King of Pentacles (also reversed). I photographed them upright because the level of detail on artwork of the Illuminati Tarot is much easier to take in upright.

Here’s the video version.

A lot is going on in the world. Many people–perhaps some especially close to you–have many opinions of what’s righteous versus what’s folly amongst the hubbub.

Your job is to make completely sure you’re managing YOUR affairs. You all know I’m always harping on staying in your own lane–as much a reminder to myself as to anyone else. But this week, the cards are backing me up on this one. There’s enough going on already. You just do YOU, okway?

If you want a little extra perspective while you’re figuring out what you want, though, I’m more than glad to help. Give me a holler for a private session.

Four of Cups: Finding Unseen Solutions

I held my tongue the other day. Figuratively, at least.

See? It happens!

I kept myself in check until I got a grip on an almost overwhelming urge to be helpful. I didn’t end up saying anything.  The non-beneficiary of my wisdom was someone (justifiably) freaking out over a tech catastrophe.

I know the feeling very, very well. Having managed websites and online services for many years, I’ve had more than my fair share of similar catastrophes. Some only impacted my business, while the worst also impacted my customers, who depended on me to make things work. So yes, I understand.

In fact, compared to my worst freakouts (with full-on cursing and tears), she was holding it together fine. But she was distressed and don’t like people being in distress when I know I have an answer.

I just realized it was an answer she probably wouldn’t have been interested in hearing. I saw no point in further aggravating her to make myself feel better.

Here’s the advice I didn’t give: Once you’ve done what you initially know how to do, the ONLY thing that ever helps is surrender.

Let it go for a while. Step back and distract yourself. Focus on something else and give the problem space.

You are not going to get any flashes of inspiration when you’re freaking out over “how bad” the situation is.  It never, ever happens. You’re not going to make progress. You’re not going to fix it. If anything, you’ll make it worse. The voice of experience knows this.

When things feel like a mess and you have no idea what to do now, the best course is always to offer yourself some relief from the mess.

Whenever and however you can, step back and surrender what is to the current moment. Move your attention elsewhere for a while. Eventually you’ll get your inspiration on how to address the situation most productively. But that inspiration won’t come in the throes of panic. There’s too much static in the emotional waves for you to plug in and hear any answers.

Inspiration only shows up after you detach enough to clear the space for it. It can come quickly, but will take however long is required to clear your head. Nothing else works.

That approach is pretty much what I’m advising for next week. You can listen or not, but I’m doing my best to sell it!

Next Week in Tarot

The outlook this week is the Four of Cups–sage advice comes in the form of a very lush Ten of Pentacles from the rich and colorful deck, Tarot Illuminati.

The Four of Cups indicates we initially won’t see all our options. The most workable choice is close, but easy to miss. Obsessing over past failures, feeling sad and frustrated about what’s not working, keeps us from seeing what will work.

The Ten of Pentacles says to count blessings without equivocation. It’s easy to forget how many wins we have when we’re distressed. So be deliberate about acknowledging blessings–the abundance and the love on tap right now.

Now, this approach may strike some as an utter waste of time. We live in a world that values hard work above all else. If obstacles loom large, they may feel like a crisis. I’m not about to say whatever concerns you doesn’t matter. Just the opposite.

Maybe you feel short of blessings at the moment. I understand that. But no matter what situation we find ourselves in, there is something to be appreciated.

Stepping back, taking a breather and finding some way to feel blessed makes a huge difference. You’ll begin to relax almost immediately Your mind clears. As a result, you become more capable and efficient. It works the same way food or sleep does in terms of strengthening us. It doesn’t have to be a lot here. Just any little bit of appreciation you can seek and find will offer a sense of relief. You get there by appreciating and loving, whatever and however you can, big or small. That’s all you need to start the shift.

Once your mind quiets, answers can show up. And it does so much more, utterly tangible good than almost anyone realizes.

In shifting to an appreciative state, you’re opening doors to intuition and (divine) inspiration. THEN is when you’ll be able to see the glowing cup on offer in this card–the solution that seems like it’s appearing from nowhere but feels “just a little different” and somehow gives you a glimmer hope (before you start tearing it apart in your head, that is).

[bctt tweet=”Appreciation opens a channel for inspiration. ” username=”goddess_dix”]

You can’t strongarm an incoming inspiration into being. You can, however, set yourself up to receive one. By giving yourself permission to stop suffering over problems, setting aside what’s not working and realizing how many good things you have right now, you clear the way to see the gift of solutions.

Whether or not this strikes you as feasible, what do you have to lose in giving it a try? Because if there’s even a chance I’m right here (and I AM), this little bit of advice can turn around even the most intractable situations very quickly.

Have you tried stepping back from problems to allow for solutions to appear?

If you need some help realigning, drop me a line to talk about a private consultation.

Eight of Cups Reversed: Still Old News

When I first started dating my husband, there were a few times I’d be talking when suddenly, he’d get very upset with me.

I was absolutely crazy about him and wouldn’t have intentionally said anything to bother him, ever. So such episodes took me utterly by surprise.

“What’s wrong?!  I don’t understand…”

Fortunately, we were able to discuss it. Turns out, he’d sometimes “hear” something very different than what I was actually trying to say.

It happened to me a few times, too. It wasn’t anybody’s fault. It was the terrain.

He was raw from his divorce. I still felt beat up from my last train wreck of a relationship. So sometimes, echos of an unhappy past would surface in our not-unhappy present.

Practiced emotional reactions have a way of sneaking up us. They color our sense of reality. If you’ve spent years living with unkindness, manipulation or hidden agendas, you’re going to perceive those oft-repeated themes sometimes, even where they aren’t there.

While it’s absolutely true the past helps predict the future, if you don’t remain mostly present in the now, there’s no path for changing the past.

And the more you focus on a troublesome past, the more you’ll perceive repetition. Eventually, you’ll develop a remarkable ability to literally recreate it by attracting those most likely to give you more of it.

Or you can work though to make a different future.

My husband and I were lucky. We talked it out from the start. We built trust. Without being able to disrupt that cycle, we probably wouldn’t still be together these 30-ish years later.

This next week would be a good time to leave the emotional trips of the past behind and look to the now you want instead.

Next Week in Tarot

eight of cups eight of pentacles

For the forecast, it’s the reversed Eight of Cups. Advice is given by the Eight of Pentacles, upright, both from the Tarot Illuminati deck.

Some perceptions are colored by old emotional issues–maybe those you thought you’d already left behind.

I know that can suck. But it’s okay.

Realizing and acknowledging what we’re tapping into, we can quickly see those emotional responses that aren’t completely based on the here and now. That’s useful information!

It helps if you worry less about what’s “true” and more about what feels best. You cannot know what’s inside someone else’s head. But you can know what feels the best to assume. So do that!

And above all, just keep working your way through it. We get better as we go. One little bit, one step at a time is how progress is made. It’s not a quick fix here. It’s a process! But if you keep your wits about you, it doesn’t have to be an ugly process.

I wouldn’t even call it repair work. It’s not fixing the old car. It’s creating a new one, you know? The outlook that’s going to drive your future is getting built. Make it a sweet ride!

Are you hearing echos of the past (and are you able to recognize them for what they are)?

Be well out there, friends! And if you want help making a plan for driving in the direction you want, give me a holler.

Two of Pentacles & Ten of Swords: Believe in Them

It’s easy to get caught up in things you have no control over. I know–I’m an expert at it! Many years of practice haven’t gone to waste.

I might worry about my parents or how my kids are doing, or how a friend is navigating a rough patch. I tend to be more concerned about how other people are managing than managing myself. Maybe you do, too.

I am trying to focus more clearly on the strength and resourcefulness of the people I care about, though. It’s a practice, really. But sometimes, that faith in someone’s ability to manage and ultimately thrive is the best gift you can give.

It looks like we really have enough on our own plates right now, so it might be a good time to practice this idea in the coming week.

Next Week in Tarot

For next week’s outlook, we’ve got the Two of Pentacles. Advice comes in the form of the Ten of Swords, with additional insight from the World, reversed. These cards are from the drop-dead gorgeous Tarot Illuminati deck.

The Two of Swords is clear here: It is enough for you to keep up with your personal responsibilities (and feelings) this coming week. You will be able to, if you stay focused on the tasks at hand.

Focus isn’t always easy, though. I expect lots going on–the seas are not calm. Emotional outbursts, meltdowns or even moral panics could vbe part of the background scene. But paying attention to all that hullabaloo is a distraction most of us can’t readily afford.

In terms of advice, the Ten of Swords extends last week’s theme: feel what you feel. Deal with your own business. That IS enough.

Otherwise? Your issues may unconsciously surface in the attempt to deal with other people’s business and who knows how that might turn out?

One nice thing to remember about the Ten of Swords: while this card invariably is depicted as dire, it’s always clear indication that this moment, right here and now, is as hard as it gets. From a Ten of Swords perspective, there is no place to go but up!  So acknowledge that you’re ready for improvements and don’t try to take on anything beyond what is truly yours to juggle here.

The World reversed elaborates that the perspective is not yet there to see the bigger picture and integrate into our worldview yet. Still too much emotional churn for that.  But the beginning of this broader understanding is already underway. You don’t see the World card, upright or inverted, without that energy being expressed to some extent.

In short: do what you need to do. Manage your own thoughts and emotions. You be in charge of YOU. Give others the gift of having faith in them. The world with sort itself.

If you’d like to schedule a private session, give me a holler here.

Knight of Wands Rx: Impulse Control & Stability

The last few years, I’ve changed how I interact with the world at large, and a lot. While I do still follow the news, I don’t discuss it with anyone other than my husband. I am also much less emotionally vested in what goes on around me–and even less vested in deciding who is right or wrong, good or bad, appropriate or inappropriate.

To some, such a stance is nothing short of abdicating responsibility to right the wrongs of the world. But to me? Maintaining my personal balance and perspective is the only way I have anything meaningful to offer anyone.

I am not any less caring now than I was before. I am just a whole lot more centered.

The coming week, I’m suggesting you prioritize maintaining your own center and personal balance.

Next Week in Tarot

We have the Prince of Wands reversed (aka the Knight of Wands) for our weekly outlook, followed up by Justice as advice from the Tarot Illuminati deck.

The Knight of Wands is passionate, loyal and intense. But reversed, he’s especially prone to hard-headedness, impulsivity and jumping to conclusions.

In other words, I’m expecting a week of people having rather marked and emotional responses to what’s going on around them, generally without fully understanding what’s going on around them.  If you watch the news or have internet access, you already know what I’m talking about on a global scale. I also expect this on a personal level. So not anything super new here, but it will likely be even louder right now.

Justice coming in as advice is straightforward enough: slow down. Breathe. Get clear. Find your center and maintain your balance. Independent thought and full consideration of the facts are in order.

Weigh out decisions logically, giving a full hearing to all with relevant information, whether or not you are warm and fuzzy about the source of the ideas. Libra (who rules the Justice card) demands fairness. She doesn’t make declarations based on whom she likes best. Ideas must be judged according to their own merits, independent of source.

[bctt tweet=”Balance is not something you achieve once, forevermore. It’s a practice.” username=”goddess_dix”]

We’ve got an eclipse on and there’s plenty of raw and intense emotion to go along with it. You can manage this if you are conscious about it. Breathe deeply, and make a point to regularly replenish yourself as needed so you remain solid and clear. This is more helpful to others than most people realize because an example is much, much louder than anything else you can do. A sense of stability is just as available as it ever was. But like always, it’s an inside job.

Are you feeling stable?

If you need a little help, give me a holler for a private session to sort it out. And take care of yourselves out there!

8 of Wands Rx: Just in time?

Thoughts about time have been rolling around in my brain lately. The feelings of pressure to get it done. Or the worry over how long it takes. The guilt over not doing it yet. The longing and wondering, if it will ever happen. Of course, there’s also the swift flight of time when I’m having fun or the surprise at learning what day of the week it actually is.

Because yes, that happens. I know it’s not just me.

I have a million and two ideas of things I want to do. Additionally, there are some I feel I need to do or should do, but one could argue I need to clear up my energy on those subjects. And I wouldn’t disagree. But that’s okay, too. It’s not my job to be perfect.

I’m very blessed to be in a position of working with my natural rhythms and cycles. This helps everything so much! To the extent you’re able, it’s a great idea to honor that. And it would be a great idea to be especially mindful of your own cycles and doing your best to roll with them over the next week.

Hint, hint!

Next week in Tarot

The Eight of Wands reversed tells us what to expect, with the Queen of Wands lends a regal presence as advice from the colorful Tarot Illuminati. I’m getting this as temporal disruptions. Like it may feel like time is out of whack: either worries that unwanted situations will never end or anxiety that your world is moving too fast to manage. Either way, the question of “how long?” doesn’t have an obvious answer and it may be disconcerting. Feeling out of sync and a little disoriented is to be expected in such circumstance.

But that Queen of Wands is very clear: no compromise and no fear. If one door closes, another will open. This isn’t a blind hope, but more a knowing. The task at hand is to remain clear, focused and purposeful. Let no setback bother you! Nor do you need to worry over readiness. Your job, next week (and always) is not lining up the particulars. Instead, get your energy lined up! Clear energy helps you easily navigate the particulars just as surely as muddy energy attracts a muddled mess.

[bctt tweet=”There is no time but now. #QueenOfWands ” username=”goddess_dix”]

To stay sharp and focused, be mindful of your own cycles and need to recharge. I see people so often, cussin’ and fussin’ at themselves because the whole power-through approach wears them down. To stay in the groove, you need downtime. You need replenishment. You need at least a little bit of quiet and rest and good food to support your physical apparatus. It makes a world of difference.

Good timing isn’t luck or chance. It’s a predictable outcome of tuning in to your intuition. Like any other skill, it’s greatly enhanced by regular practice. The key is a light touch, not being too emotionally wrapped up in the question. Detaching a little. Don’t expect the answer as you ask the question. Let it go and allow the Universe to deliver it up to you instead. If you’re willing to let the Universe lead that dance, it will.

Is your time feeling fluid lately?
