Ten of Cups Reversed: Empty Spaces

My landlady has a well-earned reputation for planticide. She’s killed my flowers more than once. I never react very well to this, incidentally.

I also don’t think about it too much anymore, because what’s the point?

But I was remembering it last night, looking over the rooftop to the massive trees that poke up from the back. Because a couple of summers ago, she chopped down one of the biggest trees back there.

I was heartbroken. I loved that tree! (Okay, I love most trees. All the ones I’ve met.) But this particular tree was magnificent. I liked to watch this tree from my front porch, peeking out over the roof with the branches gently swaying. At the right time of the day, the leaves reflected the light as the branches danced, as if each leaf was coated with a little magic.

For a long time after that tree was cut down, I saw nothing more prominent than that gaping hole where one of my favorite trees had lived. But after a while, you stop paying so much attention to what’s missing, you know?

And that’s a good thing.

I eventually walked past the stump one day to spy some new growth. Yes! The tree had defied the death sentence! She wasn’t going anywhere. Her comeback may have been modest, but her roots go deep. I liked knowing that.

I just realized last night, I don’t see a hole there anymore. None at all. I couldn’t tell you exactly where that lovely tree had stood without going out back to seek out the stump.

The other trees had filled in the empty space with their own branches. That gap, the empty space, had been replaced with new life. And that’s what happens.

This coming week feels like this, to me. We can look for the holes in our experience, what’s missing. Or we can notice the other blessings that step up and fill in those spaces. There are always both.

Next Week in Tarot

Ten of Cups Reversed: Empty Spaces 1

This week, we have the Ten of Cups reversed from the Tarot Illuminati, along with Hibiscus (again) from Botanical Inspirations: Beauty & Happiness.

Every moment is full of possibility. You can see what you want, or see what you don’t want. Both elements are present in everything.

Sometimes, we think we have to rearrange the world a little bit–or a lot, or rearrange the other people in our world a little bit, or a lot–to achieve contentment. That’s a losing proposition if ever I heard one. Because really, how’s that working out for ya?

Don’t shoot for making anybody else happy here, either. Instead, look to boost your own happiness by seeking out the beauty around you. Beauty and happiness do go hand-in-hand. The mistake that most people make is thinking there isn’t always some beauty to find. There is, in everything. You just have to look at it in the right light to find it.

[bctt tweet=”Beauty isn’t an external reality. It’s a function of perspective. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

Satisfaction is attainable, and it’s not very far away. Instead of seeking to please others, seek to please yourself by looking for what you love and reveling in the beauty of it.

Are you finding some beauty?

For a little help realigning your perspective in a private session, give me a holler.

Nine of Pentacles: Unflappable

One of my life goals lately is becoming more “unflappable.” Less bothered by what anyone else thinks (including those I love), and more self-contained. I realize some may see this goal as selfish, but I don’t bother too much about that. (See what I did there?)

It really is freeing. If somebody is mad at you? You don’t have to care. You can realize it feels really crummy to be mad and not blame or judge them for it, nor take it upon yourself to change the situation. If someone disapproves of your choices? No big deal. They can approve or not. It’s their choice, not about you. And if somebody else is hurting? You can be compassionate without having to adopt the pain (or task of resolving that pain) as your own. It works so much better than trying to fix it all!

You’ll always see the storms. But if you want to be unflappable, prioritize your own well-being while wishing well to the rest of the world. You just excuse yourself from the task of figuring out and executing the “well” that you’re wishing. It’s enough to have the good intentions and reserve the sense of responsibility for your own life. That’s all you really have rights to, anyway.

This Week in Tarot: You Do You

Nine of Pentacles: Unflappable 2

This week, we have the Nine of Pentacles from the gorgeous (although poorly photographed) Tarot Illuminati, along with Violet from Botanical Inspirations: Faithfulness & Modesty.

Refine your own sensibilities. Become your own guru and leave the rest of the world to do whatever it will. Our job–here, now, or anytime, really–isn’t to create a list of all the good things in the world and all the bad, enforcing one and eliminating the other. You see how that will bring you nothing but grief? It’s a never-ending job!

Our job is much simpler: decide how to live, on an individual level. Disregard anything outside of that.  We sometimes think our individual decisions requires compliance, from the mate or the kids or the parents or the neighbors or whome/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_htmlver. It doesn’t if you let go of the “how” part of the equation and stay firmly grounded in your own energy and focus. Plenty will want to argue this point, I know. But if you can let it go? You’ll find the truth underneath. By demanding to know the “how” part, you limit yourself from receiving the “what” part. It’s pure hubris to believe we know all or can do the work of manifesting better than the Universe can. Just let it in by not fighting all the ways it cannot work, and you’ll be forever ahead of the game.

It doesn’t matter what anybody is doing. You do YOU. That’s all you need to be doing.

[bctt tweet=”Being YOU does not require group consensus. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

Ultimately, the goal is to be unflappable as frequently as possible. The world can be doing what the world does. The boss or mate or kid can be doing what the boss or mate or kid does. No one benefits if you become upset with the external situations–least of all, yourself! It doesn’t prove you care. It doesn’t help the situation. It just adds to the drama. As much as you can stay solid in your own truth, while allowing others to think or be whatever they are thinking or being, the better you will fare this week. It’s an ongoing project, nurturing the self-contained contentment. It can be challenging at times, but it’s well worth the effort, I promise you.

Armchair Astrology: Retrogrades & an Eclipse, Oh My!

The usual disclaimer applies: I’m not an astrologer and I don’t play one on the internet. That having been said, I do pay attention to the energy flow and hence, I  watch astrology. So here are some high points of current astro cycles, “armchair” or dilettante style.

Mars is still retrograde until August 27th. If you don’t speak astrology, that translates to a whole lot of fussiness, barely repressed irritation (and more), and a general underlying theme of frustration. At least, that’s what I’m seeing. Remain aware of any anger you’ve got bubbling under the surface as well, as you don’t want to become a snapping turtle yourself. I’d stay out of conflict as much as possible and not worry too much about what anybody else is up to right now. Use this time to your best advantage, reconsidering how you go about getting things done and know that feeling of trying to run through the mud will ease up toward the end of the summer. We’ll get there! It’s a time to pace yourself.

Mercury also goes retrograde July 26th (until August 19th).  Standard advice applies here–this is the perfect time for revisiting any issue but especially those related to communication. I have great luck with editing under Mercury retro. Mercury is the messenger god, after all. Taking a second look during Mercury retro is highly recommended. Allow for breakdowns of technology, misunderstandings, and delays because you will experience some of that. Think of it as the time the universe is untangling knots in processes, procedures and lines of communication.  Just double-check your details and stay chill. It will be fine, really.

Add into the mix a full lunar eclipse July 27th in Aquarius. Mars and Uranus are involved here, so be extra careful of safety issues. I expect this to feel pretty raw and intense for many, with some sudden plot twists. I also expect the endings and changes that this brings on will ultimately empower, but it may not be an easy ride in the throes. Take excellent care of yourself physically and be sure to allow extra time to rest and recoup because it will help.

Be kind to yourselves out there!

The Star: Getting Your Blooms On

Your life is wherever it’s at–a mix, always, of good and bad, easy and hard, fun and lackluster.  Weeds and blooms.

We don’t feel crummy because of life’s weeds. We feel crummy when we think we’re stuck with them. We stop noticing the blooms and miserably obsess on the weeds. Those poor little blooms might as well not even be there. We’ll never notice their beauty if we’re fixated on the weeds.

The Star: Getting Your Blooms On 3

What a nice combination! The Star (from Tarot Illuminati) teams up with Hibiscus–Beauty & Happiness–from the Botanical Inspirations deck. This is a decidedly (and consciously) optimistic duo, right here.

This is dreaming of the future. It’s the promise, the hope, the positive expectation. It’s looking for beauty and finding excuses to appreciate. It’s focusing on the blooms.

Don’t ask how you’d get rid of the weeds or produce more blooms. You don’t need the how. Let the how flow in of its own accord. Your job is just to tune in to that flow. And that’s easy!

Choose to see the best you can. Look for what’s right, everywhere you can find it. Appreciate and enjoy all that’s right around you. Fixate on the blooms. You’ll tune in to the flow and everything begins to bloom.

Empress Reversed: Whose Business?

I think we put ourselves under a lot of unnecessary stress when we feel the need to solve all the problems. Who knows best? Is it you? Me? Them? The smart ones? The famous ones? The spiritual ones?

We certainly can (and will) have opinions on what’s best. That’s what life experience does: offers a frame of reference on what’s best, from our personal perspective. We may even share those opinions on occasion if we feel moved to do so or are asked.

But that doesn’t mean we’re to go off trying to save the world–or even just a single bit of the world.

Empress Reversed: Whose Business? 4

Dignity is a sense of personal value. Dignity is an understanding of one’s own worth, internally generated. As such, dignity cannot be given or taken from outside parties, although it could well be influenced by others if we allow it to be.

Pride (as Confucius is using the word), implies a sense of being better than others. Such comparisons are mostly undertaken when someone is not feeling their inherent worth and must seek external yardsticks to temporarily bolster it. If you feel solid, it’s not necessary to rank yourself against anyone else. It’s also not necessary to step in and try to save anybody.

Setting your own course no matter what is an act of dignity. Declaring yourself a  necessary savior is an act of pride.

I will tell you right now, though: this was a tough lesson to learn as a mom.

[bctt tweet=”Your answers are within you. Likewise, their answers are within them. Don’t confuse the two. #OnMyRadar” username=”goddess_dix”]

Which brings me to this week’s Tarot.

Empress Reversed: Whose Business? 5

We’ve got the Empress from Tarot Illuminati reversed, along with Dahlia – Dignity, from the Botanical Inspirations deck. (Sorry for the blurry pic.)

This isn’t the week for mothering the world. Just mother yourself. Take care of yourself. Express your own creativity and magic(k) and let the rest of the world do their own thing.

And it doesn’t matter one little whit how “right” you are, about the rest of the world or any given part of it. You could have a near 100% agreement with all of humanity on what’s proper. Even so, we don’t have the perspective to see what brings anyone else to the place they are. We don’t have the insight to know what these experiences are creating for them or how the details fit into the bigger canvas. But what’s more, we don’t have the right to live anyone else’s life. Our own life is ours to steer. That’s it.

Do you want to make a difference? Awesome! Do that by first loving and caring for yourself. If you’ve got that down and well-practiced, you’ll find it far, far easier to love other people.

The best gift you can give to another is not your wisdom or advice. It’s believing in the power of their own wisdom and advice–and shining a light on that for them by seeing and acknowledging it yourself. Your faith in them helps trigger their own like a tuning fork. That’s the real gift.

Looking to get better tuned in for yourself? Give me a holler. ~Dix

Energy Budget: Weekly Tarot, Feb 27 – Mar 5, 2017

I spend a good amount of time on social media for business. It’s goal-driven participation, but you know how that is. So much of everything there…

Oh my God, I hide so much!

It’s daily. Lots and lots and lots gets hidden or blocked. And not because there is thing one wrong with what I’m hiding. People can discuss whatever it is they want to discuss and feel about it however they want to feel about it. I am genuinely egotistical, but not so much I think I’ve cornered the market on truth or perspective. I would never want to impinge upon the freedom of others! But that doesn’t mean I have to be a participant in all of it, either.

It’s just really important to me, how I feel. I consider how I feel THE top priority in my life. It’s my job to feel as good as I can, as much of the time as I can. And to that ends, I won’t become mired in lengthy discussion of issues that are upsetting to me.

Does such avoidance make me selfish, uninformed, deluded, privileged, or otherwise derelict in my social responsibilities?

Maybe. I know for a fact, there are kind-hearted, loving people who deem it so–and that, too, is their right. Don’t care, if you want to know the God’s-to-honest truth. I love y’all but I’ve gotta make decisions for myself. Some people feel that fighting what they perceive as wrong is the only way to impact change. If that’s what you believe, then you should do that! Always do what you feel is right and I wish you well in doing it.

For me, I believe being the best person I know how to be is my greatest opportunity to contribute. So I’m doing that.

This week? People may benefit from a less direct approach across the board, too–more water, less rock. At least, consider stepping back until you’re feeling utterly stable in your own skin. Impulsiveness or brashly powering through barriers is not favored.

[bctt tweet=”Be more water, less rock. Weekly #Tarot Forecast” via=”no”]

Tarot foretells a week that remains somewhat squishy, with a mix of primarily Cups, Pentacles and peppered with some Major Arcana. We start out rough–eclipse hangover, perchance? But by the weekend (provided you played your cards right), it’s looking pretty sweet.

Overall, I keep getting themes of budgeting energy expenditures. Don’t spend what you don’t have to freely spend on any level, and prioritize managing your emotional state. That is something you ARE in charge of!  I’ll take it, ’cause really, what choice do I have anywho?

View the Full Forecast in video, here.

I liked the Queen of Swords advice last week to hit the bullet points, so I’m running with it.

Day-by-Day-Play-by-Play

  • Monday, Queen of Pentacles rx: Mind your resources and don’t spend more than what you’ve got of whatever it is.
  • Tuesday, Knight of Cups rx: Hold off with emotional dumping messages. Highly sensitive time in general and strong possibility you’ll be misheard if you communicate impulsively.
  • Wednesday, Six of Pentacles rx: Take care of your own business. Don’t hop in to try and fix for others. No charity work.
  • Thursday, Ace of Pentacles rx: Lowish energy. Don’t overspend, anything, again.
  • Friday, The Tower: Choices earlier in the week culminate. If you overdid, it will fall apart today. If you showed restraint, the crashes won’t be yours.
  • Saturday, The Chariot: Single-minded focus on what you care about, and forget the rest. Simple.
  • Sunday, Two of Cups: Great date night. Expect peace, harmony and music. Good flow today.
  • Overview/Advice, Six of Wands: It may not be obvious, but it’s all working out in the bigger picture. Appreciate what’s working and let everything else be.
  • Affirmation: Loss. Focus on what you’ve got, not what you don’t. It’s your choice, what you make bigger in your life.

Energy Budget: Weekly Tarot, Feb 27 - Mar 5, 2017 6

Are you able to “mind your own emotional store” easily? What helps you?

This week’s forecast features the Tarot Illuminati and Wisdom of the Crone deck. You know where to find me if you want a personal consult.

Squish: Weekly Tarot, 02/20-26, 2017

Mostly inverted cards. Themes this week include not jumping the gun, paying attention to what’s yours to attend to, and self-care. Solar Eclipse in Pisces at the end of the week. I’m expecting the week to hold some shockers, and a certain intensity where lots of people may be struggling to keep their cool. Can you be the sane one?

Just taking a second to enjoy the irony of me asking that question. Snort.

This Week’s Tarot Forecast in Bullet Points

  • Monday, Princess of Swords rx. Misunderstandings highly possible. Restrain yourself from acting on partial info. No leaping before you look.
  • Tuesday, Nine of Pentacles rx. Again, a feeling of  incomplete understanding. Pieces of the puzzle are not all together.
  • Wednesday, Ten of Wands rx. Is this your circus, your monkeys? If not, let it be, man. Which is never bad advice, frankly.
  • Thursday, Queen of Swords. A welcome respite. Just the facts! No editorializing, guessing or embellishing. Bullet points and a little goal-oriented, directness wins the day.
  • Friday, Ace of Pentacles rx. Enjoy yourself sure, but don’t overbook it. Burn the candle at one end but not both. Pace yourself, yo!
  • Saturday, Seven of Cups. Lots of choices about how you frame events. You want to be happy? Call upon the broadest, most generous and loving perspective you can latch on to.
  • Sunday, Six of Pentacles rx. Don’t give gifts with strings, what you don’t freely have to give, or out of a sense of obligation or rescue desire.
  • Overview/Advice, Tower rx. “The sky is falling!” is the week’s refrain. Dirt unearthed, sure, but life WILL go on. You can freak out if you want, but you don’t have to.
  • Affirmation: Play! Self-explanatory. Play is healing so do it!

Notes on the Solar Eclipse on the 26th: In Pisces and to me, this time period feels very, very squish, with some fireworks scattered to spur impulse control issues for good measure…call upon the power of a blissed out Neptune. Highly sensitive, charged time so self-care, down time, water-drinking and relaxation (including art, music and movies) helps tremendously.

In fact, I think this screenshot from the video forecast sums it up nicely. Maybe I should have just let that tell the whole story, huh?

How are y’all doing out there?
