Tissue anyone? Dealing with Grief

weekend Forecast

Note: This is an old forecast, but I’m pulling it back up for anyone who needs some encouragement dealing with grief. Hoping it’s not you!

Damn! I pulled for Saturday and Sunday and after seeing what I got, I cringed hard, and drew one more for advice. Tarot Fives are never comfortable, but these two are especially harsh. Sorry to be the bearer of a bleak forecast, but better to know so you can dress appropriately, huh?

One the plus side, Tarot fives are highly dynamic, usually fast-moving agents of change. There is upheaval and uncertainty, but likely not long-term. And they can portend important shifts, made quickly.

We are always saying we want it now, huh? Or maybe that’s just me.

Saturday, Five of Pentacles:  This card screams poverty, feelings of being without. Whether it’s money, love, options, ideas, friends, or something entirely different you feel “out of,” we’re talking standing in the cold. I do usually point out when this card appears, help tends to be available for the asking. The problem is, nobody wants to ask!

You may be hurting and possibly scared, but it’s important to realize not only your role in creating the situation if there was one, but—and don’t hit me for saying this—your potential role in maintaining it. Be aware there likely ARE options that you haven’t been ready to consider. Fair enough if you don’t choose to consider them. You’ll get no judgment from me! Just realize the difference.

Sunday, Five of Cups: What can I say that isn’t obvious? This is a card of grief and loss. We’re not talking a complete loss even though it may feel like it. Still, there’s sadness for what is gone. It may even have snuck up on you and punched you in the stomach when you were looking the other way. Nothing sucks more than sucker-punch sadness, man!

Cry whatever tears come, letting them wash away pain. Be gentle with yourself. Any kind of cleansings, smudging or baths taken with the specific intention to clear away the past issues and pains of all sorts are recommended. Clearing out physical or electronic items associated with pain and loss can also help release the energy, as can journaling or pouring those emotions into some other creative or physical endeavor of your choosing. Just remember wherever you place that energy it stays, so you might want it to be something you’ll be disposing of when you’re done. No baking it into comfort food!

The best way through this kind of energy in my opinion is always surrender and release, surrender and release. Fighting it directly is like denying your true feelings, and such a charade never fools the heart. The feelings themselves will dissipate if you allow them to be spent. Like a shot, it only hurts for a little while.

Coping, Four of Pentacles: You are stable, you are safe. You have what you need. This is what the Four of Pentacles tells me. Hold on to what you have and withdraw if it helps. Take inventory. Ground. Know that you are okay. Honest. Do what you need to in order to feel safe and abate anxiety. Breathe.

Affirmation: It is safe to look within. I am hoping I’m WAY off here for the vast majority of those reading this. But if you’re not one of the lucky ones, know it’s okay—even helpful—to see yourself as clearly as you can, and forgive yourself for whatever shortcomings you perceive, you know?

I’m really seeing this whole thing as a highly internal process—like regrets over lost opportunities or possibilities. Just do the processing that needs to be done, let it pass and look forward to a brighter week ahead. I’m on call for virtual hugs should anybody want to collect one.

Much love to any who need it.

You doing okay?

Emotions are Loud: Weekly Flow Tarot, May 11 – 17

Weekly Tarot

I’m sad right now. My cat is sick, and I know she’s not going to be with us a whole lot longer.

This is making the time with her right now both very, very precious, and very, very hard. Emotions are kinda loud, right now.

That’s what this coming week looks like…loud. Emotionally loud. Downtime, a clear head, patience and lots of loving energy are all balm for the soul this week. I am not directly advising comfort food. But I wouldn’t call you out on it, either.

P.S. Happy Mother’s Day!

Monday – Justice, Reversed: In my head is a 10-year-old, protesting, “It’s not faaaaaaiiiiiiiiiir. Not. Fair.” If you hear these words in your head, step back. Stay off the judges bench and out of the jury box. Your job is to be the best self you can manage. That’s where your power is.

Tuesday – The Hermit: Take a deep breath and withdraw from the chatter, chatter, chatter all around you, as well as in your head. Center, to find some peace, perspective and clarity.

Wednesday – Ace of Cups: What moves you? What touches your heart powerfully? You may run into some of that. Sport tissue, just in case.

Thursday – King of Wands: Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it. Take care of business. High productivity potential if you keep your heart in what you’re doing. Creativity also favored.

Friday – Three of Swords: Ouch. Well, Hell. Feel your feels, whatever they are. That’s how you let go of those feels, man. Because nobody wants those feels to be clogging up the works.

Saturday – Seven of Pentacles:  “Long-range” is all the rage. Imagine if how you’re responding to your life today became a template for how it would be for a long time to come. Would that change anything? Today would be a good day to pretend you’re making a template.

Sunday- Judgement Reversed: I don’t care who’s fault it is. We are where we are, with what we’ve got. Focus on priorities and leave the rest to sort out in due time.

Overview/Advice – Page of Wands Reversed: Not a week to be hasty, always living in next week. Not a good time to act on impulse or going through the motions, either one. Stay present and on an even keel to fare best.

Affirmation: I love my body. You know that old song that goes, “If you can’t be with the one that you love, baby, love the one you’re with”? Not quite as cynical as that, but I’m saying, “love the one you’re with.” Wherever you’re at, whomever you’re with, carry yourself with as much love and goodwill as possible. Your body is not perfect? Love it anyway. It’s probably weathered you through a lot if you’ve gotten this far. Love the people who are in your life to the best of your ability. Be as loving as you can to the strangers you meet–you never know what a difference your kindness and goodwill may make to someone who needs it.

Are the emotions loud now in your world?

Reaching – Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Feb. 16 – 22

Weekly Tarot Forecast Feb 15

Often after I look at the weekly cards, I search for a story, an observation to give it some context. Looking at these week’s forecast is like seeing a roadmap to all kinds of life transitions. I can see the process I went through when transitioned to self-employment outlined in these cards. I can see the process of leaving my family’s religion here. I can see my courtship and marriage here. I can see my adjustments becoming a parent here, in these cards. The process is defined this week, with helpful hints for handling hurts, distraction and delay. If you are undergoing an important transition, I think you’ll see yourself here as well.

Monday, Partner – Ten of Pentacles: There’s comfort, joy, love and riches (of many kinds) with the partnership of whomever is “family” to you. This is speaking to old school connections, people who are genuinely invested in your welfare, usually long-term companions. A family member, mate, sister or “brother from another mother” has a lot to offer–if you are willing to act in partnership.

Tuesday, What to Let Go of in the Future – Three of Swords Rx: Let the old heartbreaks die already! Sometimes we clutch our wounds as if they alone provide self-identity. Pain shapes identity without question, but should not comprise identity. Big difference. Because it’s not our history of hurts that makes as who we are so much how we choose to heal from that history! Release the wounds, while honoring the lessons. It’s like cutting a tether to the ground so you can fly.

Wednesday, Outcome – The Sun: Joy! Happiness! Hope! This is my favorite “outcome.” Revel in the day. Follow your bliss to find enchantment. It’s a good day for play, dancing and any kind of fun.  :-)

Thursday, Crowing Influences – King of Cups: Honor thy heart, grasshopper, and act in accordance. What’s in your heart today is a shining beacon that not only shows you the way, but strengthens and encourages everyone you touch. Honest, heartfelt expressions spread hope. A day full of love, should you choose to act in a loving way yourself. One gentle caution though: love is not always as effortless as it sounds. Vulnerability and risk are the price of this particular brand of magic. My opinion? Worth it.

Friday, Cons – Six of Wands Rx: Don’t overcommit. I’m seeing this as wanting to have more to give than you actually do. There may be a tendency to overpromise and then, you’re on the hook. Delay promises of assistance until you’ve tallied up your own accounts. If you hastily offer what you cannot comfortably afford—be it time, energy, money or whatever—you’ll soon enough regret the obligation.

Saturday, Action – Page of Wands Rx: Delays are likely. I see this as progress, albeit not quite enough to suit us. There is a good chance the delay itself will serve a useful purpose, though. It often does, right? So try to roll with it.

Sunday, Clarification – King of Wands Rx: Why the delay yesterday? Factors beyond your control! That’s okay. It is what it is. Just know it’s going to take a minute to work through those bigger plans. Accept and release attachment to timetables. We’re so impatient sometimes! It would be a great idea, though, to schedule something special today. Activities that fire up your imagination and get your blood pumping help release the feeling of being thwarted you may otherwise have lingering.

Overview/Advice, Blocking or Covering – Ace of Wands: The passion for your plans are there, but the details are not. Run through the facts, review background information, and begin planning. Don’t lose your fire. Just know you need more.

Affirmations (we have two, as one card fell out in the shuffle): Desire is the beginning of all creation. I look for more reasons to appreciate. These statements are like two sides of the same coin.

Desire is the wanting, acknowledging what you do not have—it’s the motivation for change. Desire is the Ace of Wands we got as advice! It can either block us (if we take it as straight up dissatisfaction, proof of our failings), or blanket our efforts with a focus, a purpose. How we interpret our desire makes all the difference in which way steers us. Focus your desire not on what you don’t want, but firmly upon what you do. There is a huge difference between fear-based desire (e.g. I don’t want to be alone, or I don’t want to be broke) and goal-based desire (I want a partner, I want comfort). Energetically and subconsciously, negative words don’t “take” well, so the Universe doesn’t hear the “don’t.” Focus your desire on the “do” instead.

Gratitude is not only the outcome of desires fulfilled, but the fuel which propels us toward desires. Appreciation lifts us when we’re low. Appreciation energetically aligns us with achieving more of whatever we are appreciating. Appreciation provides energy, impetus, connection and facilitates flow. Spending even 30 seconds in a state of true, deep gratitude immediately raises our vibration, opens the heart chakra and invokes a type of magnetism, an alignment with whatever we are appreciating. The value of gratitude cannot be overstated. It’s one of the most powerful tools at our disposal. Use it!

Between the two affirmations, we have a very simple formula for making changes. Acknowledge desire and appreciate progress.

So, how’s your week looking?

Plates Overflowth: Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Feb 9 -15

 thumbnail

These cards could be talking directly about my last week. I have been completely rebuilding all my websites from the ground up out of necessity and it’s not my idea of a good time. But in the end, I’ll be a lot better off for facing it. Keep that idea in mind yourself, if you face some struggles this week.

Looking at these cards as a whole, I’m expecting a week of INTENSE. Sorry, kids! Now, I’m glad Mercury is prepping to move forward again (Feb. 11), I’m glad we’re all making progress and all. But doesn’t mean it’s easy. Not saying it’s not ultimately worthwhile, though. Just not easy.

My sincere apologies for those looking for a break, because it looks like a “plate overflowth” with plenty of hustle type of week. The good news is I’m liking the higher numbers on the cards. That’s indicative of being at the end of a cycle. Hallelujah! But I am also expecting the possibility of overwhelm. If you’re a crier, pack some tissue, man. May come in handy.

Monday, What is Hidden – Knight of Cups: Just how intensely you are feeling is NOT evident to the casual observer. Don’t be saying somebody “should have known” because they just cannot know what’s in your head and your heart today. Be sure you’re on top if it yourself and do realize your feelings are…in motion, okay? Knight energy is fast, and can quickly shift. If you don’t like how you’re feeling, give it a couple of minutes. On the plus side, the right song, artwork, a book or a movie will likely have the power to move your emotional state in short order. Take advantage if you need a boost.

Tuesday, Resolution – Eight of Pentacles: You solve problems one step at a time. Practical, physical, and careful efforts towards the goal are most effective. Whatever you’re trying to master? You’ve no doubt been steadily improving as you go. So don’t look at the time it took to get here as “wasted.” It’s not. Look at is as perfecting your processes.

Wednesday, What to Avoid – Six of Pentacles: Don’t give what you don’t have to give just to be perceived as nice or because you do not know how someone else is going to solve their problems.  Don’t lend money you do not have to share. Don’t accept responsibilities you do not have adequate time and energy to fulfill. Be prepared to say “no” today. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is express faith in others to figure out their own lives.

Thursday, Present – Judgment: Regroup day! It’s appropriate to consider what has been going wrong, but also what has been going right. This is not about blame. It’s about understanding. It helps you know where you’re going, you know? This energy is not a ticket to the guilt trip express. It’s more an opportunity to take a deep breath and consult your map. No recrimination. Just information.

Friday, Blocking or Covering, Knight of Swords Rx: Uh oh. This strikes me as a sharp tongue. Sarcasm may get in the way of achieving your goals today if you’re not conscious or careful. Control your mouth!

Saturday, Clarification – Eight of Wands Rx: Determination you may have been awaiting is imminent. This isn’t the letter or phone call or news itself, but a knowing, it’s not going to be long before now. News is coming.

Sunday, Past Life – Ten of Wands Rx: To me, this strikes as an awareness of times you’ve undertake more than you could manage and had to let it go. Neither good or bad in itself, but instructive, no?

Overview/Advice – Ten of Swords: Ow! To me, this says overwhelm pure and simple. This looks to be a very fast moving week and at times, it’s too much stimulation. While this card can sometimes indicate a betrayal, it does not always. What it does consistently point to, however, is an apex, where whatever it is peaks, maximum capacity. It’s a difficult energy. Your best bet this week is understanding it will probably have “moments” and being prepared with distraction, pleasant activities and arranging to connect with loved ones. Does it make you happy? Indulge in joy to heal any stings.

Affirmation – It is my dominant intent to look for what I want to see. This isn’t a fear-based approach to living. It’s a goal-based approach to living. Of course, you do your work. But as you do, acknowledge progress. And notice the bits and pieces of your dreams materializing in your daily, waking life. That turns it up.

We’ve got this. In some ways, these kinds of weeks are very encouraging to me because when you have this much motion, you also have progress. It can be uncomfortable, stressful and sometimes, upsetting. But it’s with a point! I am more than willing to deal with discomfort, so long as there is a point.

Are you running around with an overflowing plate?

Living Intentionally: Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Feb 2 – 8

thumbnail

How appropriate: Mercury Retro giving us a weird, blur-fest image. But you know, it’s the image I had to work with. And this retrograde has been a BEAR, I must say! I am working with what I got. I am getting stuff done and my stuff is working, but without exception, it’s totally not the “stuff” I’d intended to get done. You know?

I’m betting you do!

It looks to be an interesting week, with the first part concerned with identifying what doesn’t quite fit, and the last part with changing that. I believe the changes will be helpful overall, but perhaps a little bittersweet at the same time. Think like graduating from school, or leaving a job, or moving. It might be the best thing, great overall, but with the shift, there’s also a sense things won’t be the same anymore. It looks like that, this week.

Monday, What is Hidden – 3 of Wands: Nobody can see exactly how much effort—and expectation—lies beneath a casual glance. Be conscious of your own unspoken expectations, because they could color your behavior in unexpected ways if you’re not cognizant.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Three of Cups Rx: Looking for some more space? Have a previously unacknowledged drive to lose some dead weight in your social circle? This strikes me as feeling out-of-time with companions, or perhaps a desire to become more out-of-time.

Wednesday, Future Life – Five of Swords: Fight for what’s right. As it plays out, you can expect to win. Woot!

Thursday, Crossing – High Priestess Rx: Life is complicated by failing to listen to that inner voice.  If you cannot hear it, you NEED quiet time, away from distractions competing for your attention. If it doesn’t arise naturally, mindfully create it. The urge to move (which is likely) coupled with an inability to hear your inner guidance adequately is not an advisable mix. You need to either 1. Find a connection to your inner radar before acting or 2. delay action.

Friday, Outcome – Temperance Rx: Oil and water will never mix; sometimes a decision has to be made. Aside: there could be a drive to overindulge afoot tonight as well. A drink is fine, but if you’re out and about, see to it there’s a designated driver before you start pounding down the happy juice, okay? Stay safe out there!

Saturday, Crowning Influences – The Hierophant Rx:  Traditional ends may be achieved via nontraditional approaches. Or vice versa. Flexibility is definitely an asset here. No judging. Keep an open mind.

Sunday,  Cons – Two of Pentacles: This card is pretty self-explanatory. Expect plenty on your plate, with possibly competing interests to manage here.

Overview/Advice – Five of Cups: This is not a happy overview card! I’m thinking by looking at the rest of the week there are definitely adjustments over the course of the week, new coordinates being laid. Connections or situations may crop up that just don’t work anymore, like favorite shoes you’ve outgrown. This doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to abandon everyone or everything you love, but you very well may experience a loss. If so, allow yourself to feel sad! That’s the best way to work through the feelings.

Affirmation – I practice the Science of Deliberate Creation. I won’t go all “Law of Attraction” on you here, despite my choice of Oracle cards. I will just say this week, don’t live by default. THINK about what you want, and move in accordance with those desires. Live intentionally.

Then again, that’s never inappropriate advice.

Do you try to live intentionally?

What Can You Feel Good About? Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Jan 26–Feb 2

Weekly Tarot Forecast

“Do what you can feel good about.” I’ve given this advice many times, both to others and to myself in the mirror when faced with a hurtful situation. Family issues, rejections, and betrayals can sometimes leave us simultaneously wanting to make up and strike back. So in trying to decide what’s appropriate, a yardstick that doesn’t try to measure anyone else’s behavior is incredibly helpful.

This week? It’s like that. Do what you can feel good about and what you’ve committed to do.

Most of this coming week looks pretty good! While I’m not crazy about the weekend which the cards suggest may lean toward the raw side, I believe we can use the energy of the rest of the week to carry us through. It looks to be a fast-pasted week with emotional notes, starting off with the Knight of Cups, and including the Chariot and a very busy Five of Wands. The orange topic cards are people, so both yourself, others and your relationship(s) play a major role as well. In other words, this week doesn’t appear in a vacuum, folks. I expect both conflict and comforts to come from your inner circle. So be aware.

Also remember, we’re still in Mercury retrograde. So there may be a little déjà vu of old news showing up to spice up your week. Be graceful and gracious, and always double check your facts before taking action here, and you should be fine.

Monday, Future Life – Prince of Cups: This card promises an upcoming emotional connection, or a deepening of an existing emotional connection. Knights’ energy is not static; it moves! In short, your feelings take you new places. Sometimes it’s pleasant and sometimes it’s not, but it’s definitely moving. So what do you think of that?

Tuesday, Mind – Two of Wands: A decision to be made. If you wonder, “Am I up to this? Can I hold my own here?” The Two of Wands answer is “Yes,” although you may not be as certain as I am.

Wednesday, You – Ten of Pentacles: You’re surrounded by a loving family (be they biological or chosen) and the richness of being a part of that community. Revel in being a part of such a group.

Thursday, Others – The Chariot: Ah, people around you are going places! Be a follower or be a leader, but whatever you do, don’t stand still. You’ll get left behind.

Friday, Relationship – The Moon: This could go either way. There could be mystery and magic afoot, or it could turn out-and-out crazy on a dime. I would advise scrupulous honesty in all relationships. The Moon can show up for lies, and that’s not really the energy you want to invoke here. Don’t push for hard facts. Just allow interactions to take shape and don’t discount the power of emotions in creating reality.

Saturday, Hopes and Fears – Five of Wands: Either there is worry a conflict will never end, or an itching to kick some ass. Keep the temper in check.

Sunday, What You Can’t Change – Ten of Swords: Whoever has hurt you, it’s done. Whoever has not been true, it’s done. Facing up to the full impact is not fun by any stretch, but it’s the hardest part of betrayals. Once that’s over, the healing can really get underway.

Overview/Advice – Four of Wands: Regardless of what others do, honor your commitments and do what YOU feel good about. Your goodwill may waver based on others’ behavior, but your integrity should not. Stand by your word.

Affirmation: The Universe is Big Enough to fulfill my every intent. I am thinking of this in terms of expectation versus reality. I may EXPECT to get my desires in a straightforward, linear fashion because I’ve been “good” and tried my best to do my work. I may get disgruntled if I start at point A and life throws me a tsunami and I realize I’m so far away from my pre-identified point B that I can not longer find it in my radar.

But our vision is so very limited and sometimes, what we end up with is much different that what we envisioned. Doesn’t mean we’re not moving ahead or growing. It only means it’s not in the way we might have plotted it. We need both a deliberate intent for who we want to be, and the flexibility to ride the flow and discover new alternatives. At times, that ugly package is the Universe’s biggest gift and we just didn’t know. Wherever you are, make the best of it and know that if you surrender to the flow, you’ll get much further than if you fight it. Don’t ask “how” you’ll get there so much as focusing on the what you want your life to be about. That vision, attention to where you are going, is what gets you there. Fixation on the rocks brings pain. Fixation on the destination keeps you tracking ever towards it.

Hope you have a wonderful week and manage to sidestep the rocks. And if in doubt, remember, do what you feel good about! Everything else (eventually) falls into place. Much love.

How’s your week looking?
