Incoming Astro – Full Moon in Scorpio

Folks, I think this full moon in Scorpio is going to pack a punch. My astrologer friends seem to agree, so I pulled a few cards for guidance on managing the energy around it.

I usually like Scorpio moons, whether it’s a full moon in Scorpio, new moon in Scorpio, or an everyday ol’ moon in Scorpio. It’s sympatico with my energy. But this one…oy.

In short, it appears the full moon in Scorpio is going to be either an intense emotional or intense intellectual experience (thanks to Mercury’s intervention here)–wonder how much we get to choose?–maybe a “letting go” (voluntary or not), and a strong, potentially ill-timed compulsion to act. Happy, happy, joy, huh?

I think, “Deep breath” is a good mantra. I’m voting, clear head and open heart as the best way through and hence, forward. You know?

As a reminder, I’m still running my Transparent Tarot deal, if you need a quick hit around some Scorpio Moooooooooooon “issues.” Ha!

I was so excited to use the purple moon background for this video, I can’t even tell you. I mean, isn’t it perfect for a full moon in Scorpio?! Har!

Are you feeling the Full Moon in Scorpio vibes coming in?

01/12/13: On Task | Swords Hold Court

I’ve been fighting with tech issues all day and it’s getting late. I haven’t done this column.

I pull the cards ahead—way ahead. I like to write ahead too, but sometimes, that doesn’t happen.

Today, I dealt with leftover issues from a web server move, tech work and problems of all sorts, a malfunctioning cat genie—aghh!—a broken website update here, a cat with an unhappy stomach, and more.

It was a crazy day. So I wonder, what cards did I pull, to write about after all this?

I am really digging these duos. They are like poetry, you know?

The Queen of Swords faces the King of Swords—she’s cutting out the bullshit and cutting through the obstacles. She’s sharp and impatient, because she has a lot on her plate. (Okay, she can bitch a little, too. But the reason it’s so damned annoying is because she’s generally right.)

She is looking to the right. That’s in the FUTURE, you know? She wants to move forward and you best stay out of her way.

The King, on the other hand, is more settled. He looks straight ahead, in the here and now. He focuses on ruling fairly and intelligently.

Taken together, I’d say stay on task but don’t be overly fussy. I made it today with half of that command fulfilled. I’ll leave you to guess which half. Har!

What do you see here?

03/13/12: Tentative Truces? | 4 Swords, 9 Swords

Today’s Tarot is another selection from the Thoth-flavored Rosetta Tarot—Truce, the Four of Swords  (Jupiter in Libra) and Cruelty, the Nine of Swords (Mars in Gemini). You’ve got a respite here, a temporary settling into decorum. Manners reign, for NOW, that is. But be aware, cutting remarks, sarcasm, and in general, aggressive thoughts are only dormant, not dead.

Is that nasty clash coming from within, or without? That’s always my question. Most commonly, I read the Nine of Swords as primarily internal perception, not due to uncontrollable, outside circumstance. But here, I could go either way. The point is, however, that any conflict has not been eliminated, only on hiatus.  It’s a great time to stabilize (Tarot Fours) thinking (Tarot Swords), understanding those thoughts feed…something.  Get clear now: what do you want to feed?

Noting the astrological association for the Nine of Swords, we realize frustration and drive (Mars) is powered by words and thoughts (Gemini). It’s all in your head, Grasshopper! The intent you assign is personal, not universal. As with any of the Tarot Nines, we’re looking at a possibly tiresome, undoubtedly long-standing situation, approaching completion.

Time to get quiet, take a deep, cleansing breath, and just BE for a minute. How do your thoughts fuel your frustrations? What’s most important to protect? Headed back into battle, it’s vital to be clear here. Otherwise, you may find yourself taking somebody out (or being taken out) with no real point. Focus, focus, focus on the point. You don’t want to deal out or suffer damage without a worthy point.

Do you have any tentative truces in effect?

01/21/12: World Crashing! | Nine of Swords

“Suffering isn’t ennobling, recovery is.” Christiaan Barnard

My world’s ended many a time. And each time, it’s inordinately painful. And much as I hate to say it, each time, it’s been inordinately necessary, right.

Today’s Tarot is the Nine of Swords (Mars in Gemini). This version is compelling, immediately giving the “world comes crashing down” vibe, right long with a dangerous looking snake in the foreground and crumbling buildings in the distance. But the real tell is the sword piercing the man. Calamity has struck! It’s not especially pretty.

I always think of this card as representing that lonely place where you know, you can’t just “hold it together” any more. Anguish, worry, guilt, fear—all long accompanied by wishing it away, hard!—none of this matters.

And honestly? It’s a relief, to have it out in the open, you know? You can stop worrying about what-if’s and start dealing with what-is. This energy is far from comfortable, but it’s necessary to face. The cleaner you face it, the quicker it’s cleaned up.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, like it’s just too much? Do you have worry, fear and regret? These are Nine of Swords feelings. All I know to move past them is to face it, square on and go from there. That’s what I’ve done with them. (I won’t mention the fact I never ultimately felt I had a choice not to face. That’s beside the point, and doesn’t make it any less brave.)

If you’re in this place, forgive yourself for getting there and let the swords fall. You can’t stop them anyway, so no sense slicing yourself up trying.

01/19/12: Hard Enough Already |Rev Queen of Swords, Six of Swords

Today’s Tarot is the reversed Queen of Swords (Water in Air) and the Six of Swords (Mercury in Aquarius) from the Cosmic Tarot. With two Tarot Swords, we are firmly the Air Element—logic, detachment, communication being some of the main focuses of Air energy.

6_of_SwordsI’m not sure how I feel about this Six of Swords…he doesn’t exactly conjure up feelings similar to the traditional version for me. Which is neither here nor there, I suppose. But he does convey a sense of mastery through discipline. And I can’t help but think he’s probably gotten a few cuts from those swords as he’s practiced, you know?

Perhaps we’re not thinking (or acting) rationally. There could be urges to snipe with cutting remarks—all the more so because there’s some truth to them. You may want to be aware of that. No need to be cold, demanding or so hurtfully honest. This combination doesn’t exactly spell confusion anyway. Chances are there isn’t much you could say that isn’t already well understood.

The way ahead is challenging enough. Face what comes up directly, sure, but do show restraint so as not to make it more painful than it needs to be. Just do the best you can, and trust others are probably doing the same. Most of the time, that’s a safe assumption.

01/18/12: Ends and Means and Winning | Rev Five of Swords

“Don’t fight a battle if you don’t gain anything by winning.” Erwin Rommel

So, do you feel like a loser? Did you win the battle at the expense of the war? Are you a sore winner? Is winning worth the price? These are the kind of questions I ask when I see the reversed Five of Swords (Venus in Aquarius). The victory or defeat isn’t so clear cut.

I’ve never been an “ends justifies the means” gal. I consider that attitude akin to writing yourself a blank check to act without consulting a moral compass. Whatever gained that way isn’t worth having. “Ends” come and go, but “means” are how you live day in and out, what determine who you really are. It’s not just the ends that count. It’s how you live your life.

I won’t say this approach hasn’t cost me at times. But never my soul. Everything else? Not as hard to replace.  Today, I’m seeing a prompt to check definitions, of winning and losing. Have clarity of what is to be gained or lost, in both the battle and outcome.

What do you see in the reversed Five of Swords?
