10/09/13: Choice without Regrets / 2 of Wands

Two of Swords Tarot Nova

What a graphic version Two of Wands! You carry the weight of conflict and choices on your own back. Consider this carefully when you’re choosing your battles. For most any Tarot Twos, we are solidly in the area of choices, polarity and sometimes, the sense of being pulled in two directions. Today, I’m thinking of this in terms of quandary.

I’m not saying defending your stance is not worth it. It might well be incredibly worthy! I’m just saying consider the cost. (There are costs for walking away from a battle just as much as taking it up, by the way). Be prepared to carry the weight. It’s not a light, fluffy feeling I’m getting here, but it is solid and manageable.

What’s on my radar now is about retaining your wits about you. We are all faced with tests, conflicts and choices. This isn’t “bad.” It’s life!

No matter what, make your choices mindfully. Live in a way you can feel good about; live in a way you would feel comfortable defending. Do the best you know how with what you have to work with each and every day.

As I suggested recently, live as if Karma is instant and you cannot go wrong. Then no matter what happens, you will have no regrets.

Are you faced with a choice?

04/16/13: Quietly Listen / High Priestess

When you hear what is NOT said louder than what IS said, when you clear your mind or preconceptions to allow the truth to arrive organically, when a knowingness extends to other people’s secrets, you’ve tapped into the realm of the High Priestess.

She may deal in secrets, but is not a perpetrator of deception. She’s an oracle who sees through ruses. She just doesn’t necessarily blurt the details. Her motto could easily be, “All in the right time.”

The High Priestess is sort of a patron of Tarot readers and psychics—here she’s shown with a book of knowledge, displaying the Alpha and the Omega, i.e. the beginning and the end, thereby encompassing all. The moon pictured with a hint of the Sun shining at top and the Yin-Yang reinforce her duality, especially notable in Tarot twos. The predominance of water reminds us of her deeply intuitive nature. And while she is a passive vessel, a receiver as opposed to an actor, you’d be wise to not underestimate; she has an infinite well of hidden power from which to draw. People mistake her silence for ignorance.

The High Priestess can show up as a prompt to wait, allow, and accept what is surely coming. She encourages us to listen to our own inner knowing and as much as anything, she is a sign more is afoot than meets the eye. The most important truths are not upon public display.

She also challenges our common notions of passivity—passive does not equal weak to her! Patience can require a huge amount self-control. But self-control is not a problem. It’s not that she doesn’t feel anything. She feels too deeply and completely to easily put her feelings into words. But she doesn’t need to express it, because for her, experiencing is sufficient.

Use her energy today or more aptly put, allow it. Listen between the lines. Be aware of what’s not said. Keep reactions internal and let the picture emerge. Allow certainty to come to you—and it will, if you quietly listen.

Do you relate to the High Priestess?

12/28/12: Choice in Hand | Two of Pentacles

On a lark, when I was having my Everyday Tarot card-pulling session, I popped some of the Zombie Tarot in the mix. So here we’ve got the Two of Hazards, aka Two of Pentacles. Even though it’s not Halloween. But then again, you never know when some Zombies are gonna pop up, huh?

Tarot twos show us polarities—most often in the form of choices and juggling multiple needs. Mr. Scientist here has everything in hand, although at times, he could get tired of his task or find himself seeking a break, you know?

Realize the choice is yours. Realize there will be plenty to juggle. Realize you CAN juggle it. Just decide, what’s the most important to you and handle it. It takes attention, work and dedication. But it’s fulfilling as well.

See Mr. Scientist? He’s happy and has that Zombie subject in hand. Sometimes it’s tiring, but he is clearly satisfied with his decision.

Do you feel like you’ve got your choice in hand?

07/15/12: Ups and Downs | 2 Cups, 2 Pentacles, Wheel

We’ve got the Two of Cups (Venus in Cancer), Two of Pentacles (Jupiter in Capricorn) and the Wheel of Fortune (Jupiter). First thing I notice about these three cards, there are two Tarot twos—this tells us the principles of balance and polarity is relevant. With a couple of Jupiter associations to the cards themselves, this feels like large energy.  With the suits of Cups and Pentacles, I’m thinking love and money are impacted. And with the Major Arcana involved, don’t be surprised if you see big, important changes, served up without much warning. But as is always the case with the Wheel, whatever goes up must go down and vice versa.

I say this not to scare you. The trick here is staying flexible, okay? There are two sides to every story and before it’s done, you’ll probably understand both of them. Even if you’re in a downturn cycle of the Wheel, know that you can access insight in that regard. And anytime you can get insight, run with it!

Little annoyances are like the rattle in the car—an early warning signal that something’s out of whack. You can take it in to the shop now or wait until the engine locks, ya know? If you consider those frustrations a telegram from God on upcoming lessons. If you can listen and learn fast, take care of any areas you could stand to shore up, you’ll get yourself out of the shop with a much, much lower bill. Listen and learn, man, listen and learn.

So whatever you run into today, be it something you absolutely love or something just to be endured, appreciate whatever you can get out of it and know things are a-moving along.

06/24/12: Don’t spill the whine | rev 2 Cups

Emotional discord—the love may well be there, but perhaps you’re not on the same page with someone close. This can (and is) often a fleeting influence, Tarot twos are young-in-the-cycle type energy, so immaturity could come into play. If you are overly-emotional, edgy or off balance, first thing to do is take a deep breath and let yourself center.

To get back in alignment, look for what you have in common emotionally, ways you are alike and have similar loyalties and intentions.  The more important the commonality, the closer to your heart, the more it turns up the connection. Heart energy resonance is powerful medicine.

05/16/12: Back in Whack! | Rev 2 Coins, Justice

When you’re out of whack, overwhelmed with responsibility or feeling weighed down, it’s helpful to break things down and weigh them out.

Damit, Tarot. You’re looking right at me again, ain’t ya?

We’ve got the reversed Two of Pentacles/Coins (Jupiter in Capricorn ) and Justice (Libra)—hey, looky-here…we have two Tarot two’s. Try saying that three times fast. Bonus points if you can after you’ve kicked back a couple White Russians.

Where are you out of whack, and how can you bring it back in line? Stay aware of the demands you place upon yourself. It’s both a right and a responsibility to carefully weigh what you take on and make sure your energy is being directed effectively.

Your energy can’t all be spent on other people’s needs. Likewise, it can’t all be spent on your own. There may be times, when the scales tip a little one way or another, as circumstances require. But an evenly-balanced yoke will stabilize eventually, equal out.  Tarot twos are all about polarities. My needs versus yours. Your wants versus mine. The inside versus the outside.

It’s fine and well to offer support and love to those who need it. But if we juggle their coins, take responsibility for their lives, the scale of Justice tilts, for both parties. The more we carry, the harder it tilts. If it’s enough, we can become chronically worn down because we’ve not been attending to our own business.

Or if we’re on the other side of the coin and allowing our choices to be carried by others, is it time to take some back? Take a step back and weight it out. Think in terms of free will and greatest good. What can you feel good about? What can you do while feeling love? You won’t go far wrong that way.

Do you feel comfortable with the distribution of coins in your life?
