08/10/11: Reversed Two of Wands | Whose choice is it?

“In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep to the simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don’t try to control. In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present.” –Lao Tzu

Today’s Tarot forecast is the reversed Two of Wands or Lord of Dominion, associated with Mars in Aries.  Whereas the traditional RWS shows a single man between two wands (worlds?), the Morgan-Greer (and the Transparent Tarot version we saw recently) indicate two people—with objectives pretty evenly matched judging by stance, although the wealthy fellow holding the globe probably has the upper hand here. Should he use it?

As Tarot Twos suggest duality, polarity or mixed feelings, I often find two appearing in the context of a choice to be made. Reversed, I’d expect it’s not a choice you can make alone or for another. While you can use your vision and to some extent, your power and position to advocate, you’re best off not trying to force your will. Mars in Aries has the potential to be a bit overbearing that way.

So maybe it’s time to tell ourselves, “It’s not my choice, my life or my problem.” Sure, other people’s lives impact us. We are social creatures who live and love and want good for those we care about. But sometimes, the “good” is respecting their right to live their own lives and learn their own lessons. Your right is  The control we want to exercise now is self-control.

Sure, you can make your case. Just know it’s not the only case to be made. If you strong-arm you preferred implementation, there’s liable to be blowback. Don’t be surprised. You’d likely have the same reaction, if someone were trying to force you onto a different route.

The inverted Two of Wands reminds me of what’s mine  I have the responsibility to live my own life the best I can, which implies leaving others to live theirs as well. My real choice is in whom and what I invite into my realm of experience.

Everyday Tarot, 07/23/11: Don’t Have to Force the Issue | Rev 2 of Swords

reversed-two-swords-tarot-forecast I’ve always found emotional energy builds up in physical space. The more emotional torque, the denser and more lingering the after-cloud. Fights, sadness, joy, fear, laughter—it all sticks like a scent that gets into the carpet and drapes. The smell remains remains until it’s either dissipated or absorbed by people passing through it.

Places where the same emotional tone has been repeated over long periods of time or by great numbers of people, the effect is even more striking. That emotional vibration permeates the physical space which contains it and stimulates similar feelings

Today’s Tarot forecast is the inverted Two of Swords, or Lord of Peace Restored, associated with the Moon in Libra. There is always a certain stability around this card, if tension. The polarity of the Tarot twos have a built-in sense of balance—the conflicting forces serve to stabilize one another.

The Moon in Libra would like feelings (Moon) to be pretty (Libra), but is practical enough to know that’s not always the case. Animal nature is part of who we are;  the emotional voice hits a full spectrum of  pitches.

The reversed Two of Swords suggest we stop stressing about each individual choice point, afraid we won’t measure up. Accept the contradicting pulls as part of the human experience. Shift the freed up energy to taking action that you can feel good about—always looking for whatever light you can contribute to the circumstance.

A more Zen approach lessens the burden and lifts your vibration at the same time. It puts you back in the flow, able to receive guidance and inspiration again. And it leaves you feeling a whole lot happier! Don’t worry about being perfect or making a mistake.  We do the best we can at the time, and look to grow in the process. Just commit to being the happiest, best person you know how to be. Because that’s a good place to live.

Everyday Tarot, 07/19/11: High Priestess Suggests Leap of Faith

high-priestess-tarot-meaningKnowing the unknowable…it’s what the High Priestess of Tarot does, and it’s also kind of my job. For this very Virgo chick—one who’s been known to obsessively research info before sharing with clients, for example–this is an odd juxtaposition to willingly undergo. And yet, I do.And I’m glad for it. It really does take a leap of faith.

Today’s Tarot forecast is the High Priestess or The Priestess of the Silver Star, associated with the Moon. She’s all about the water, man. As one of the Tarot Twos, her presence is felt in terms of polarities—the seen versus the unseen, the known versus the unknowable. What you see and what you feel are two different things here.

I’ll tell you something, about reading the cards. Every single reading I do, without fail, in an act of absolute faith, trusting in that unconscious, unseen, spirit world, that it will provide the goods, you know?

It reminds me a lot of how I felt, when I first began working for myself. There’s that point you reach, when you somehow know, you CAN do this, it will work, as long as you expect it to, listen to your inner guidance, and allow. Before you hit that point, it feels very touch-and-go. And it is.

Leap-of-Faith--Adelie-Penguin-1The “allow” part? That’s the hardest. Fear gets in the way. Fear activates the vibration of lack, of wanting, and that’s what you experience. It quickly becomes a vicious circle. Whereas allowing requires you are yin, open, receptive to whatever comes, EVEN IF it’s not in the package you’d select or expect. It’s listening to your gut and acting on your intuition, even with no outside indication.

Funny thing, about those leaps of faith? Each one you take and survive makes that faith a little stronger. Your faith grows, and thus each leap takes you a little further. I mean, you can stop jumping whenever you’d like. But if you did that, you wouldn’t get nearly as far, now, would you?

The High Priestess reminds us to honor our psychic, intuitive gifts by acting in accordance. She would have us trust our inner knowing, without requiring outside confirmation beyond a history of not having been betrayed by our higher selves.

How’s your inner knowing treat you?

Everyday Tarot, 07/10/11: You’re Not Missing Anything | 3 Wands Rev, 2 Pentacles

daily-tarot-forecastI used to say, “I wouldn’t trade my problems for anything. They made me who I am.” Generally,  I still feel that way. But it doesn’t mean I never get disgusted with my problems, either.

Today’s Tarot forecast turned up an inverted Three of Wands (Lord of Established Strength/ Aries Sun—don’t wait around, resting on your laurels. Aries doesn’t approve. Ok. So what, then?

I asked for a little more to go on, and got the Two of Pentacles (Lord of Harmonious Change/Jupiter in Capricorn). Luck (Jupiter) comes from responsibly(Saturn)  managing your resources (Saturn).

We may be eternal energy, but we’re living in physical bodies. Physical bodies have a finite amount of energy to spend. So where do you want  your energy to go?

You can be mad, hurt, despondent—about whatever you haven’t gotten, what’s missing or wrong. But no matter how long you wait, how much energy you spend, it won’t bring what you’ve been denied into your life. Holding on enhances the sense of loss.

Still, those feelings are often a sign of healing. Only when we can begin to imagine ourselves with the life we long for does the disparity become so acute.   Before we can feel it as a possibility, it’s not a possibility.

And if we can’t create the exact circumstances we’d like, right this minute? Well, maybe we could juggle with the feelings we’d like to cultivate instead. We can rearrange the furniture we’ve got to make it better reflect the environment we want to live in, y’know? Maybe we can’t make ourselves instantaneously well, but we could probably help ourselves become healthier, feel better. We can’t change how others behave, but we can sure change how we interact.

And for all those things you didn’t get? Don’t worry. What you haven’t had colors your experience as much as what you have. Your specific journey, your particular set of experiences, gives you a specific skillets. Who knows what wonderful things you may decide to do with the tools you’ve earned through hardship? If you’re not tapping them now, consider it—fertilize some flowers from that poo pile!

Everyday Tarot, 06/10/11: Last Call / Rev. 2 of Cups

two-cups-reversed-daily-tarot-forecastSaturn (work, responsibility) is fixing to go direct in in Libra (partnership, balance) in a couple of days, and it’s a big deal. Saturn is a slow mover anyway, and in Libra, it’s sign of exaltation, there is particular opportunity for positive impact if you make good choices.

That makes today’s Tarot forecast is right on schedule!

We have the inverted Two of Cups or “The Lord of Love,” associated with Venus in Cancer. People prefer this card upright, but even reversed, it’s still not unpleasant energy to work with. You’ve got a primarily harmonious union that might just need some tweaking. It’s an “almost there” connection.

Saturn in Libra demands fairness above all else, if you want a positive outcome. Coming out of a a retrograde period, the time for review is ending, whereas the choices you make now will have significant impact on partnerships moving forward.

lastcallThe reversed Two of Cups reminds us to attend to our unions—discovering areas that are out of whack, lacking balance, distorted or off-kilter. The prescription for effectively working with Saturn energy is always more or less the same—do the right thing! Definition, boundaries and sustained efforts are primary tools for doing so.

If you consistently do your best to act with integrity, and only remain paired with others who do the same, you’ll be sitting pretty. If your relationships are not win-win, though, move fast to correct. It’s last call now and you don’t want to wake up all hung over in a strange bed, wondering where your pants went to.

Everyday Tarot, 06/02/11: Heart-Centered Zen / Rev. 2 of Swords

inverted-two-swords-daily-tarot-forecastConflict happens. Whether it’s who gets the biggest piece of the pie or how you referee the voices in your head, a dilemma will show up for dinner. This is the emotional ebb and flow of living.

Today’s Tarot forecast is the inverted Two of Swords or “Lord of Peace Restored,” associated with the moon in Libra. She’s a little reminiscent of lady Justice, with her blindfold and evenly held utensils. She’s going to be impartial in handing out those portions!

Decisions are to be made. Weight them out, sure, but then make your move. Inverted, she’s suggesting not to get stuck in the process—overanalyzing will just leave your dinner getting cold!

Instead, go for efficiency. Understand the facts, but then, go on to make the decision from your heart. Breathe in, call down light, and ask for what’s in the highest good of all concerned to become clear. Let it go, and your answers will find their way to you. You can have you post-turkey nap now.
