Dealing with Insecurities: Weekly Flow Tarot, June 15 – 21

thumbnail

Next week in Tarot

You know how people who are insecure sometimes act like they are super-duper important, to try and cover those feelings up? And you know how that tactic just leaves people feeling even more insecure?

Or sometimes, people just allow themselves to feel insecure, but forge ahead as best they can anyway. They may acknowledge or just tolerate it, but not give those feelings much weight because however uncomfortable, we all feel that way sometimes.

That appears to be the theme this week. You get to pick which strategy to implement, and will likely run across both in others. Hello, Neptune retrograde!

Aside: So, I noticed last week, I left out interpretations for the weekend. Ooops! Sorry. I will continue to blame it on Mercury Retrograde. But after the fact…Saturday was under the topical category of “The Universe,” showing the Seven of Cups; Sunday was “Love Begins” showing The Lovers. So maybe Saturday was confusing, perhaps on a number of levels. Sunday, probably a good day for a date night.

Monday, Authority – The Fool: I’d avoid dropping declarations for the sake of hearing yourself talk, you know? Potential for annoying or arbitrary rule-setting behavior. Bosses may have odd, potentially nonsensical requirements. Or it could go the other way: authorities might be playful, energetic and encouraging ideas. It really can go either way with the Fool, but we’re definitely talking about authority figures of any ilk. If you’re the one in charge–or think you are, ha!–approach leadership with an open-minded sense of wonder and adventure. This will save you from being an ass. Because that fool? He can be annoyingly, utterly clueless or he can be the perfect embodiment of “beginner’s mind,” full of creative discovery. It’s all in how you live his energy.

Tuesday, Victory & Success/Heart Chakra – The World: All-inclusive kindness wins today. Act with a genuinely generous, “love-for-everybody” sort of approach. Take the lead too, okay? Not a “let’s see what s/he does first” deal. A loving attitude will lead to both recognition and success. Better yet, others will tend to follow the lead set, so the importance of setting a positive tone is amplified. Everything, approach it from a heart-centered space! You’ll be glad you did.

Wednesday, Sacrifice – Page of Wands: You may have to delay creative endeavors, a work project, or a fun activity (especially physical activities) due to more pressing concerns. This feels like giving up your preferences because something else is more important right now. Sorry, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Flexibility is your friend. It may seem like nothing is getting worked out during the wait, but that’s not the case. You’ll know what’s right, so do that.

Thursday, Patience & Prosperity – Eight of Swords reversed: You want to move ahead? Need to break through a sense of being stuck? Look closely at the stories you tell yourself in your head, because there is likely inaccuracy in the narrative. The Eight of Swords is a card of self-imprisonment, not outside circumstance. Reversed, you have the opportunity to drop that illusion of impossible inevitability so you can make immediate progress. This is a loophole I’d always recommend exploiting.

Friday, Truth – Six of Wands reversed: There may be a temptation to put a little spin on stories, making yourself out to be a bit more of hero than you actually are. It’s not necessary to white-wash. The reality? Already good enough. Self-aggrandizement sticks out today with a huge whiff of “phony.” If you’re on the listening end, know the majority of what you’re hearing is accurate, save for some vanity flourishes. Ego’s gonna do what ego’s gonna do, man. But I’m telling you, if you exaggerate to make yourself look good, it won’t. Stick to the facts. They (and you) really are enough already.

Saturday, Fulfillment of Wishes – Queen of Pentacles: Ahhhh! This looks so relaxing. A great day for a walk, picnic, massage, or hearty dinner.  Sensual pleasures and physical indulgences make for a perfect weekend day. Sleep in, eat well and enjoy yourself if you can. Happy Saturday!

Sunday, Stand your Ground – Ten of Pentacles: Stick up for your people, should the occasion to do so arise. Defend your family. Especially look to protect familial business interests or material resources. I’m not saying the need will be dire. I’m just saying if you see any need, if there is an opportunity to speak or act on behalf of your family, do so–even if, or especially if, the opinion is not popular.

Overview/Advice – Hermit reversed: Don’t isolate, and don’t overthink your choices. I’d say, your gut already knows what to do. You know how they say on tests, to go with your first instinct and not over-think? When you repeatedly question your answers, you often end up changing correct ones for incorrect ones. It’s like that. Don’t obsess. Just do.

Affirmation, You Know What to Do – Archangel Uriel: “Trust your inner knowledge, and act upon it without delay.”  Not to go all Stuart Smalley on you, but you’re good enough, and smart enough, and doggone it, people do like you! Not everybody, of course. But enough, of the right people. Your people.

You have a sense of what to do. You already are enough, to accomplish it. Will you become more? Sure, that’s part of living. But a person doesn’t grow into who they want to become from passively waiting for “it” to happen, whatever the Hell “it” is. We grow through living. Don’t worry so much. Don’t try to act more important that you feel–it draws attention to the insecurity you’d like to deny like a neon arrow. All in all, it’s a very good week not to take yourself too seriously. Just do the best you can, speaking true with good intention and a kind attitude.

Of course, speaking true, with good intention and a kind attitude is a pretty decent way to live, any week.

Do and Process: Weekly Flow Tarot, Apr 27 – May 3

Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast

It can take weeks, months, or years to fully grasp the impact of transitional events. This week looks sort of like one of those “getting it” weeks to me. I’m seeing a call to surrender, letting the Universe have it’s way. I mean, it’s going to anyway. So do you want to be swimming upstream against that?

The Tarot Tens are really jumping out and saying, “Hello!” Tens can be an almost overwhelming vibe in Tarot, as they are the culmination of much energy built up and manifest in the solid, signaling endings that ultimately are what allow for new beginnings.

That means we’re still in our cleaning and purging cycle. We have mostly wands and swords, so we’ll be splitting up energy between thinking and doing. Do and process, do and process.

Monday, Heartache and Loss – Two of Cups: Well, Ouchie Monday, right there! I don’t think we’re  talking about actual loss of love. This looks more like feeling lost, sadness over an emotional disconnection or missing someone. Feeling an absence of some sort. And while there is discomfort, there are also advantages. Very helpful to realize this–or realize the feeling is coming from within, if that’s the case.  One of my keywords for the two of cups is “harmony.” How does the feeling of harmony factor in to your life, right now?

Tuesday, Partnership & Alliance (Sacral Chakra, Throat Chakra) – Queen of Wands: I didn’t pull out the chakra cards from this deck and they wanted to come out and play. So, especially in all joint ventures, speak clearly, speak true and speak from the heart. Consider what gives you joy and feeds you creatively as relevant! This Queen is a very passionate woman, true to her identity and ideals.  She means what she says. So that’s your goal for today: say what you mean and mean what you say.

Wednesday, Movement, Choices, Decisions – King of Wands Reversed: Progress has that pesky habit of not abiding by your timetable. Nothing to do but feel gratitude for what you’ve got thus far and keep rolling with it. The King of Wands always lands on his feet, eventually! Spend some time feeling good about progress before making decisions today. This helps shift your energy into a positive frequency, which leaks all over to everything you do in that state. It’s actually a pretty cool trick.

Thursday, Recognition and Reward – Ten of Swords: Acknowledgment from the heavy lifting you’ve done in the past. This can be external – serving as an inspiration through your battles. Or internal, as in seeing the incredible gifts you’ve managed to extract from tumultuous transitions. Acknowledge what has made you so much stronger.

Friday, Disruption – Ten of Pentacles Reversed: May be a minor disappointment with a family member, or feeling like a partial disappointment to your own family. Don’t sweat this too much. Even reversed, this is a very positive card. It’s possible the disappointment is imaginary, even. Another way this could manifest with someone’s “perfect family” or “perfect life” that really isn’t. Keep in mind, perfection isn’t a realistic goal to strive for…improvement is. Excellence is attainable.

Saturday, Power – Ace of Swords: Rescued from any of the week’s fears, doubts or disappointments by the Ace of Swords: one clear idea. A single thought, understanding or concept can really give you power right now. If you’re not sure where to find it, give yourself some quiet time to listen.

Sunday, Conflict & Defeat – Ten of Wands: Are you overcommitted, overbooked or overwhelmed? Damn. This combo really makes me want to eat some comfort food and follow up with a nap. Consider that an official recommendation.

Overview/Advice – Seven of Cups: External appearances may be misleading…or not. That’s the thing. You don’t know! Sometimes, what feels like the worst thing in the world ends up becoming your greatest blessing. Sometimes that beautiful blessing ends up having unmanageable baggage. The key to getting the most out of whatever life experiences come your way is practicing detachment.

Affirmation: Archangel Raphael: “Give your cares and worries to us angels, and allow us to take your burden.” Now, whether you believe in literal angels or not, you can still release your fears to God, or the Universe, or the fates, or your higher self–whomever or whatever you consider as the powers that be.

This week is a call to gain perspective. We’re reaching for a new clarity on old business and there is no way to do that AND stay married to your current storyline, driven to maintain a certain narrative. Instead, observe and release. Observe and release. Allow whatever feelings that arrive to surface and let them flow through (and out) of you. That’s the way you make leaps forward. You cannot jump way ahead if you’re holding up the wall where you stand.

[Dixie: Specializing at torturing metaphors until they scream, all for your reading pleasure.]

If you’re ready, the light could really come on this week. It won’t come through struggle, though. It will come via surrender, allowing clarity to emerge on it’s own time, wading through the outgoing reality until you make it through to the other side.

Do and process, do and process.

How’s your week looking?

You know, it’s been a while since I’ve done anything with the Transparent Tarot and I miss it. That deck is incredibly direct, and it can just sing sometimes. So I’ve been thinking about doing some work with it.

And I just realized that my website forms were NOT working right…ack! Once I fixed that up, I decided to do a special to celebrate.

So for at least a week, I’m taking focused questions for a Transparent Tarot to do it’s bang-on magic, $20.

Sorting: Weekly Forecast, Apr 20 – 26

Tarot ForecastLast week, we were cleaning out closets. This week? It’s sorting through the ensuing mess.

You know how it is. The mess gets bigger before it gets smaller.

When you clean your closet, you take the time to notice what’s what’s really buried in there, and examine each piece of clothing. And for each one you decide, “Is this something I want to keep in my life? Does it fit in with the rest of my wardrobe?”

This week, we’re sorting through “life accessories” – the attitudes, the people, the situations, behaviors and beliefs we’ve long owned. To be successful, you’re going to need to be honest, both with others but firstly, especially, with yourself. Because if you try to pull something over on yourself this week, it’s basically 50/50 you’ll be called out and have to face the truth with an audience. Eeek!

Lots of court cards showed up, which tells me people and their personalities are central to the week’s shuffle. Even many of the topical cards are strongly associated with relationships and groups. So the folks that put out the extra effort to play nice with others will have a distinct advantage the coming week.

Monday, Power – King of Wands: This looks like a solid, on-top-of-it kind of day. I’d say, use any powered-up feeling to it’s best advantage and move, step by step, to take care of business.

Tuesday, Disruption – The Empress Reversed: Beware put-on, exaggerated or phoney caretaking gestures. Overly-parental behavior, out of it’s appropriate context, is disruptive. The “it’s all for you” ruse will be transparent today. So don’t try it yourself!

Wednesday, Partnerships & Alliances (Sacral Chakra)- Temperance Reversed: It’s fine to get together with friends or discuss business over dinner or drinks. Enjoy yourself, but within moderation no matter what you’re indulging in. Okay?

Thursday, Heartache and Loss – Page of Swords Reversed: Bluntness can be hurtful and lead to actual loss or breakups if not kept in check.

Friday, Spiritual Strength – Queen of Pentacles, Reversed: Make sure you take care of yourself. This looks like running on fumes.

Saturday, The Waiting Game –Ten of Pentacles: Gradually work toward that whole package, okay? Cultivate the family relationships (and situations) that you want. Above all, APPRECIATE the family blessings you already have! Gratitude pays dividends. This can be impatience to reach a destination, sure…but with the proper framing, it can just as easily be contentment with a pleasant form of the journey.

Sunday, Trapped in Fear (Crown Chakra) – Ten of Swords: Too much incoming stimulation! This would be a great time to ground, disconnect from highly emotive people or situations, and shut down right now.

Overview/Advice – Page of Wands Reversed: Mind your tongue and don’t overstate or exaggerate yourself because this week? It’s like broadcasting it. Restraint can be your keyword.

Affirmation, Clear your Space – Archangel Jophiel: “Get rid of clutter, clear the energy around you and use feng shui.” Those life accessories that don’t match your soul any more? Trash ’em. You don’t need it.

Are you “sorting” now?

Break up and Date up: Weekly Tarot Flow, April 6 -12

Weekly Tarot April 6, 2015

This week reads like a breakup, but the week ends with a new date. Like in real life, the new date doesn’t tend to show up until after the breakup. So bear that in mind if you’ve got some letting go to do.

Looking over this combination as a whole, it speaks of fresh starts. Not a shock coming after an eclipse/full moon, a huge time of release. You have to let go of the reality you have to make room for a new one, y’know. Monday and Tuesday, there’s an burgeoning awareness of emotional complications. Wednesday is cutting free day. Thursday and Friday allow for regrouping and reconnecting with your people. And the weekend is positioning to begin anew. Very poetic! Passions appear to be an overall theme to the coming week, so keep an eye on yours, m’kay?

Monday, Fertility –  Page of Cups: Whatever happens today is born of (and in) the heart. I’m expected it to be an emotionally sensitive day, as the Page of Cups isn’t known for thick skin. But there is a point to the touchy-feelies here. In particular, do gut-checks to identify feelings, Don’t ask yourself what makes sense, ask yourself how you FEEL about what’s going on. That is going to give you a lot more information. And if your feelings aren’t quite what you expect? Examining your emotions is a fruitful activity today.

Tuesday, Passion Ignited –  Five of Swords reversed: What is worth fighting for? Because if you know that, you also know what is NOT worth fighting for. Both are quite valuable tidbits. Of course different people have different convictions and different passions. But we don’t choose what everybody else does or feels. We only direct ourselves.

Wednesday, Emotional Withdrawal –  Three of Swords: Today virtually screams LET IT GO! Seriously. Step back and you know, if there is sadness there, allow it. Take some time to yourself and allow that distance.

Thursday, Intuition –  Knight of Pentacles: Act on your instincts, intuitions and “funny little feelings” in the real world. Make physical, concrete decisions and take real-world action on those little sparks of divine insight today.

Friday, Spiritual Union –  Three of Cups: Spend time connecting with your people. There’s no replacement for love, one of the most healing powers in the universe.

Saturday, Awareness –  Ten of Pentacles: Taking charge of your own life pays off in both tangible and intangible ways. You CAN do this!

Sunday, New Beginnings –  The Moon reversed: Opportunity to start over with more honesty, less crazy. You’re in, right?

Overview/Advice –  Knight of Wands: You’re going to live what you build. Why accept what life defaults you? Put your heart into living this week. It will help you stay true, know what’s real, and decide what’s next.

Affirmation: Lilac –  Strengthen your faith. Just because you don’t know every step from A to B doesn’t mean you’ll never get to B. Oh ye of little faith, cultivate some. You’ve made it this far, right? It’s fine to ask for direction and guidance. Just don’t expect your decisions to be made for you, because that’s not how things work. You make the call and ask for backup support for the capital-U Universe. It will come.

Don’t be a Diva – Weekly Tarot Forecast, Mar 9 – 15

In a nutshell, we’re looking at a week where there is neither time nor energy for diva behavior. I’d say a humble, down-to-earth orientation will serve you very well. Some potential for conflict here. Ironic, since I pulled out the Housewives Tarot because I wanted something a little fun; I wanted a bit of cheering up. Yet another indication, the cards are gonna say what the cards are gonna say.

I do find it notable, the number of orange, topical cards, which represent people.  And we’re dealing mostly with the suits of Swords and Wands, so we’re looking at a very active week, perhaps with some ouch. However, no Major Arcana suggests any discomfort this week probably isn’t of the life changing variety. Fair enough!

Monday, Disappointment –  Eight of Swords: What’s holding you back is YOU. This may come, not only as shock, but probably disappointment if not downright annoyance. It’s so much nicer to be able to project that sort of thing. Sorry!

Tuesday, Partner –  Ten of Swords: A partner may be utterly overwhelmed or  feeling very hurt, even betrayed. At the very least, don’t expect messages to be returned promptly. It’s not necessarily personal…although that’s a possibility. Just know that people struggle with much that the eyes cannot see. The story will likely surface later on.

Wednesday, Coworkers –  Knight of Pentacles Reversed: Who is maybe lazy, cutting corners or doing sloppy work? You may have to correct someone else’s mistakes at the office today. If you didn’t do it yourself, double check it. And don’t be the sloppy one yourself, for goodness sakes.

Thursday, Relationship –  Ten of Wands Reversed: I always see this card reversed as a big, fat release. In the context of relationship, we’re looking at either moving past old baggage, or merely ceasing to give a damn, This isn’t the day to make mountains out of molehills. Better to declare the molehills immaterial and move the Hell on. Word?

Friday, Others –  Seven of Wands: Somebody is probably on a mission. Be aware of how beliefs, alternative agendas and spiritual orientation may impact behavior. There’s more to those “it’s the principle of the thing” battles than what is visible on the surface.

Saturday, Spirit –  Four of Wands: Time out for healing! Rest, recreate and if you are in the company of others, choose those whom leave you feeling absolutely safe and supported. Enjoy this welcome break after a potentially challenging week.

Sunday, Clarification –  Seven of Swords Reversed: As far as enemies go, you are your own worst. (But then again, aren’t we all?) Believe people when they tell you who they are. Ignore your gut and those red flags if you want, but know it’s a choice doing so—your choice. This is a week nobody sneaks one past you without your permission on some level.

Overview/Advice –  Ten of Pentacles: I’m really glad to see this card upright showing up for the week as a whole! It more or less rescues the entire forecast. Take time throughout the week to focus on gratitude. Specifically identify not only loved ones, your “soul family,” but why you love them. If you’re not sure how you feel about something that comes up this week, any ambiguity that arises? Choose generosity. Be kind and nonjudgmental and choose generosity. That doesn’t mean ignore your gut. It just means don’t attach negative assessments to the “why” of other people’s “what,” you know what I mean? In other words, if my alarm buzzers go off, I will heed them, but I won’t create an unflattering story to go with them. I will appreciate the fact I am able to listen to my own inner voice, and leave the rest of the world to listen (or not) to theirs. If you truly invoke this energy, you can feel lucky and blessed pretty much independent of any external circumstance. I’d say that’s a pretty nifty trick, wouldn’t you?

Affirmation –  Decide. Didn’t we just get this one? In the context of this week’s forecast, well…you decide the path you take. You decide what you believe. You decide to be generous or stingy with how you attribute other people’s motivations. You decide what you want and you decide how you go about it. We can get universal support, but we’ve got to make the call first, on what we want to do. And then we have to ask for it. Regardless, there is a definite energetic boost that comes from deciding what you want. So do it!

How’s this fitting your week?

Reaching – Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Feb. 16 – 22

Weekly Tarot Forecast Feb 15

Often after I look at the weekly cards, I search for a story, an observation to give it some context. Looking at these week’s forecast is like seeing a roadmap to all kinds of life transitions. I can see the process I went through when transitioned to self-employment outlined in these cards. I can see the process of leaving my family’s religion here. I can see my courtship and marriage here. I can see my adjustments becoming a parent here, in these cards. The process is defined this week, with helpful hints for handling hurts, distraction and delay. If you are undergoing an important transition, I think you’ll see yourself here as well.

Monday, Partner – Ten of Pentacles: There’s comfort, joy, love and riches (of many kinds) with the partnership of whomever is “family” to you. This is speaking to old school connections, people who are genuinely invested in your welfare, usually long-term companions. A family member, mate, sister or “brother from another mother” has a lot to offer–if you are willing to act in partnership.

Tuesday, What to Let Go of in the Future – Three of Swords Rx: Let the old heartbreaks die already! Sometimes we clutch our wounds as if they alone provide self-identity. Pain shapes identity without question, but should not comprise identity. Big difference. Because it’s not our history of hurts that makes as who we are so much how we choose to heal from that history! Release the wounds, while honoring the lessons. It’s like cutting a tether to the ground so you can fly.

Wednesday, Outcome – The Sun: Joy! Happiness! Hope! This is my favorite “outcome.” Revel in the day. Follow your bliss to find enchantment. It’s a good day for play, dancing and any kind of fun.  :-)

Thursday, Crowing Influences – King of Cups: Honor thy heart, grasshopper, and act in accordance. What’s in your heart today is a shining beacon that not only shows you the way, but strengthens and encourages everyone you touch. Honest, heartfelt expressions spread hope. A day full of love, should you choose to act in a loving way yourself. One gentle caution though: love is not always as effortless as it sounds. Vulnerability and risk are the price of this particular brand of magic. My opinion? Worth it.

Friday, Cons – Six of Wands Rx: Don’t overcommit. I’m seeing this as wanting to have more to give than you actually do. There may be a tendency to overpromise and then, you’re on the hook. Delay promises of assistance until you’ve tallied up your own accounts. If you hastily offer what you cannot comfortably afford—be it time, energy, money or whatever—you’ll soon enough regret the obligation.

Saturday, Action – Page of Wands Rx: Delays are likely. I see this as progress, albeit not quite enough to suit us. There is a good chance the delay itself will serve a useful purpose, though. It often does, right? So try to roll with it.

Sunday, Clarification – King of Wands Rx: Why the delay yesterday? Factors beyond your control! That’s okay. It is what it is. Just know it’s going to take a minute to work through those bigger plans. Accept and release attachment to timetables. We’re so impatient sometimes! It would be a great idea, though, to schedule something special today. Activities that fire up your imagination and get your blood pumping help release the feeling of being thwarted you may otherwise have lingering.

Overview/Advice, Blocking or Covering – Ace of Wands: The passion for your plans are there, but the details are not. Run through the facts, review background information, and begin planning. Don’t lose your fire. Just know you need more.

Affirmations (we have two, as one card fell out in the shuffle): Desire is the beginning of all creation. I look for more reasons to appreciate. These statements are like two sides of the same coin.

Desire is the wanting, acknowledging what you do not have—it’s the motivation for change. Desire is the Ace of Wands we got as advice! It can either block us (if we take it as straight up dissatisfaction, proof of our failings), or blanket our efforts with a focus, a purpose. How we interpret our desire makes all the difference in which way steers us. Focus your desire not on what you don’t want, but firmly upon what you do. There is a huge difference between fear-based desire (e.g. I don’t want to be alone, or I don’t want to be broke) and goal-based desire (I want a partner, I want comfort). Energetically and subconsciously, negative words don’t “take” well, so the Universe doesn’t hear the “don’t.” Focus your desire on the “do” instead.

Gratitude is not only the outcome of desires fulfilled, but the fuel which propels us toward desires. Appreciation lifts us when we’re low. Appreciation energetically aligns us with achieving more of whatever we are appreciating. Appreciation provides energy, impetus, connection and facilitates flow. Spending even 30 seconds in a state of true, deep gratitude immediately raises our vibration, opens the heart chakra and invokes a type of magnetism, an alignment with whatever we are appreciating. The value of gratitude cannot be overstated. It’s one of the most powerful tools at our disposal. Use it!

Between the two affirmations, we have a very simple formula for making changes. Acknowledge desire and appreciate progress.

So, how’s your week looking?
