Ripening: Tarot Flow Forecast, Mar 28 – Apr 3

“It’s one of the side effects of being a Tarot reader. I see people freaking the *$&# out over what’s happening or what’s not happening right this minute, right now, like the world’s ending if things don’t go the way they want. And I talk to them later and we realize, whatever it was, it just didn’t matter. Or it didn’t matter the way they thought it did. It ended up being better, or it ended up giving them something they needed. It gives you a different perspective.”

I was talking to my friend. Not being judgey. It’s really helpful to me, if you want to know the truth. It’s a lot easier to stay zen, when you see this dynamic over and over.

I try to force something to happen, no way, no how. NOT GONNA WORK!! I try to avoid it? It ends up in my lap. Maybe even years later. But when it does, enough has happened between the start and the end, I know there is more at work.

It happens when it’s supposed to. That fact: endlessly infuriating and endlessly comforting, all at the same time.

Tarot Forecast Mar 28 Apr 3 2016

Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde presently, prompting us to revisit projects we’ve started but not finished. What’s ripe, or becoming ripe? What’s over-ripe, ready to be thrown out? Do this bit first, toss and purge, to make space for the new fruit to fully ripen.

I expect this week to contain both conflict and emotionality, ups and downs, since we’re leaning pretty heavily on the Swords and Cups in this weekly spread. But there are definitely lessons and clarifications on tap, courtesy what comes up through the swordplay. Think of irksome frustrations, crabby words or other bothersome incidents as instructive, especially as metaphorical for other issues in your life.

Monday, Passion Ignited – Page of Swords Rx: To get your creative fires burning, stop talking yourself out of it! Stop putting so damned many conditions on ideas. It kills the moment. It sucks the life out of the art. Drop the self-criticism and the “Debbie Downer” scripts aimed in the mirror. That dousing of your creative fires? It’s your own doing, Grasshopper. Which is wonderful news, because that also means, it’s in your hands, oh creative one.

Tuesday, Rejoice in Celebration – Three of Cups: Sweet. This one is a double-dose of advice to celebrate all that is good with your tribe. YOUR folks, your people, whomever they may be. The Three of Cups shows up on “Rejoice in Celebration”–the Psychic Tarot Oracle’s version of the Three of Cups! (What’s Neptune doing today?)

Wednesday, New Beginnings – Ace of Cups: Let fresh starts touch your heart. And let your heart, guide you in those fresh starts. No fear. Only love. Only love.

Thursday, Waiting Game – Five of Swords: I always think of Tarot Fives as growing pains, of one sort or another. Fives are ridden with conflict, but in truth, conflict is a gift. It allows for corrections, before problems become too big to be manageable. But then again, I pretty much count everything–including drawing breath–as a gift. So consider your source. Har!

[bctt tweet=”Conflict gives the gift of drawing attention to what needs to be adjusted.”]

Friday, Emotional Loss, Knight of Swords Rx: This combination screams, “Blessing in disguise” to me. Maybe VERY well disguised, I’ll give you that. And maybe upsetting and scary, too. But definitely, losses right now can be more about perception than net reality.  As in, “Remember that thing I was so upset about? Yeah. I’m really glad it happened.”

Saturday, Base Chakra, King of Wands Rx: You know how in those little airline safety presentations, they tell you to put on your own oxygen mask first, before trying to help anybody else? That. Take care of your own basic needs, security and well being first, before looking to do the same for anyone else. It’s not a mark of selfishness. It’s a mark of smarts.

Sunday, Throat Chakra, Nine of Cups: Speak your truth today. Say what you really want to say. It brings contentment. I would expect especially nice results from expressing gratitude and thankfulness, too. Beautiful day for a heartfelt, loving conversation. So speak up!

Overview/Advice, Harmony – The Chariot Reversed: Don’t push or drive others this week. You go on your path. Others may follow or they may not. But they’ll do what they need to do. YOU do what you need to do.

Affirmation: Check Your Timing. As Shakespeare said, “Ripeness is all.” We get so wound up about what is to happen when. If it’s yuck, we want it done NOW. If it’s good, we want it here, NOW. If it’s scary, we want it either far away from us, or past us. So much of life is timing. Being in the right place, doing the right stuff.

And you know, we stress over timing. But if you get quiet and listen, you can stay in the flow. You can follow those little nudges and your timing will always be right.

I am telling myself, I’m in the perfect place for ME right now, because it perfectly represents where I am, how I’ve grown and how I need to grow. What you want but don’t have may not be a “no.” It may be a “not yet.”

This forecast features the Pagan Cat Tarot, with the Psychic Tarot Oracle to represent positions and the Creative Whack Pack for the affirmation. If you enjoy these forecasts, you’d probably like Dixie’s Book, Everyday Tarot Archives or better yet, a personal consultation.

Trajectory of a Breakup: Weekly Tarot Forecast, July 20 – 26

It’s been a long, long time since I’ve had a romantic breakup. Been married 26 years! That’s a good thing.

But there are other sorts of breakups, too. Breaking up from a job, or a friend. Or even breaking up from a family member or an identity–it doesn’t matter what. The feelings of loss, realization, reassessment and integration are very similar. It’s pretty much a universal experience. And much as it can suck, it’s also pretty much a universally necessary experience. You cannot align yourself with what’s right for you if you’re still married to what’s not, you know?

Hello, Venus Retrograde! I’m looking at you. And don’t forget, Venus is not just love.

Taking this week as a whole, it looks like the trajectory of a breakup. We start out with potential pity party–seating for one–but as the week progresses, we’ll have the opportunity of coming out of it not only feeling good, be actually paving the way for better. From Monday (stop feeling sorry for yourself!) to Tuesday (acknowledge what you’re actually dealing with, no dramatic license), to Wednesday (decide what kind of person you want to be), that takes us to to Thursday (Ooops, we haven’t really been always our best, huh?) and Friday (but we can be, if we make adjustments). Saturday (hey, we HAVE made progress) and Sunday (being gentle with the less enlightened) rounds out the week.

Where is this all going? Advice says, God only knows so stay flexible–but do your best to be happy anyway! [bctt tweet=”Personal happiness is an often-unacknowledged service to humanity.”]

july 20-26

Monday, Attitudes and Thoughts – Suppression/Ten of Wands: What’s bringing you down? How you think about it, Sparky. It’s all in the perspective. If you feel heavy, look a little lighter outlook. Attitude adjustment, well advised.

Tuesday, Crowning Influences – Maturity/Ace of Pentacles reversed: What’s come to fruition? That’s what you have to deal with here. Not what should have happened, not what you would have wanted to happen. What you’ve got, right smack in front of you. Forget the alternate scripts, and stick to the facts today. It will work much better that way. [Aside – What’s up with making the Ace “Maturity?” ‘Cause the Ace I’d expect to be young, and Maturity to be more Queenish.]

Wednesday, Conscious Desires – The Miser/Four of Pentacles reversed: Wish to be more generous and brave. You can do that! Don’t fuss at yourself for where you feel you fall short. Look for ways to stretch. And thank you, for adding to the love and light in the world, man.

Thursday, Cons – Existence/The Magician: The challenges you are dealing with are real, entrenched–and possibly not any the easier with a realization of your own role. Don’t settle for victim status, even if you were “done wrong.” Review your own involvement in whatever situations you have on hand, because that’s a point of power for the future.

Friday, Outcome – Awareness/The Chariot: Clarity and breakthroughs today. Facing up to yourself is rough work, but pays significant dividends.

Saturday, Pros – Past Lives/The Moon reversed: Reflecting on the past offers a better measuring stick of growth than just about anything else right about now. See how far you’ve come? See how much crazy you’ve left behind? Go you!

Sunday, What to Avoid – Thunderbolt/The Tower reversed: Don’t smack-down or shock others today, right or not. Be truthful, always, but also considerate and kind in your honesty. It is much less disruptive and persuasion is a much sweeter route.

Overview/Advice, Future Life – Possibilities/Two of Wands reversed: Be open to exploring what you have never considered. Plan in pencil. Sometimes the Universe has a different agenda.

Affirmation: My greatest gift to give is my happiness. I used to always say, if your happiness depends on other people’s behavior, you’re on dicey ground. That’s dangerous! And if you can hold on to your optimism regardless of the situation, you can lighten the load for any around you. People NEED optimism. People NEED encouragement. People need happiness! It feeds them, and encourages and cheers them. Just like misery and pain rub off, so does joy. No matter what your life, your state, your situation or your company, joy brings up the energy in the room. That’s a pretty good gift to show up with, don’t you think?

Are you in the process of “breaking up” with anything?

What Can You Feel Good About? Weekly Flow Tarot Forecast, Jan 26–Feb 2

Weekly Tarot Forecast

“Do what you can feel good about.” I’ve given this advice many times, both to others and to myself in the mirror when faced with a hurtful situation. Family issues, rejections, and betrayals can sometimes leave us simultaneously wanting to make up and strike back. So in trying to decide what’s appropriate, a yardstick that doesn’t try to measure anyone else’s behavior is incredibly helpful.

This week? It’s like that. Do what you can feel good about and what you’ve committed to do.

Most of this coming week looks pretty good! While I’m not crazy about the weekend which the cards suggest may lean toward the raw side, I believe we can use the energy of the rest of the week to carry us through. It looks to be a fast-pasted week with emotional notes, starting off with the Knight of Cups, and including the Chariot and a very busy Five of Wands. The orange topic cards are people, so both yourself, others and your relationship(s) play a major role as well. In other words, this week doesn’t appear in a vacuum, folks. I expect both conflict and comforts to come from your inner circle. So be aware.

Also remember, we’re still in Mercury retrograde. So there may be a little déjà vu of old news showing up to spice up your week. Be graceful and gracious, and always double check your facts before taking action here, and you should be fine.

Monday, Future Life – Prince of Cups: This card promises an upcoming emotional connection, or a deepening of an existing emotional connection. Knights’ energy is not static; it moves! In short, your feelings take you new places. Sometimes it’s pleasant and sometimes it’s not, but it’s definitely moving. So what do you think of that?

Tuesday, Mind – Two of Wands: A decision to be made. If you wonder, “Am I up to this? Can I hold my own here?” The Two of Wands answer is “Yes,” although you may not be as certain as I am.

Wednesday, You – Ten of Pentacles: You’re surrounded by a loving family (be they biological or chosen) and the richness of being a part of that community. Revel in being a part of such a group.

Thursday, Others – The Chariot: Ah, people around you are going places! Be a follower or be a leader, but whatever you do, don’t stand still. You’ll get left behind.

Friday, Relationship – The Moon: This could go either way. There could be mystery and magic afoot, or it could turn out-and-out crazy on a dime. I would advise scrupulous honesty in all relationships. The Moon can show up for lies, and that’s not really the energy you want to invoke here. Don’t push for hard facts. Just allow interactions to take shape and don’t discount the power of emotions in creating reality.

Saturday, Hopes and Fears – Five of Wands: Either there is worry a conflict will never end, or an itching to kick some ass. Keep the temper in check.

Sunday, What You Can’t Change – Ten of Swords: Whoever has hurt you, it’s done. Whoever has not been true, it’s done. Facing up to the full impact is not fun by any stretch, but it’s the hardest part of betrayals. Once that’s over, the healing can really get underway.

Overview/Advice – Four of Wands: Regardless of what others do, honor your commitments and do what YOU feel good about. Your goodwill may waver based on others’ behavior, but your integrity should not. Stand by your word.

Affirmation: The Universe is Big Enough to fulfill my every intent. I am thinking of this in terms of expectation versus reality. I may EXPECT to get my desires in a straightforward, linear fashion because I’ve been “good” and tried my best to do my work. I may get disgruntled if I start at point A and life throws me a tsunami and I realize I’m so far away from my pre-identified point B that I can not longer find it in my radar.

But our vision is so very limited and sometimes, what we end up with is much different that what we envisioned. Doesn’t mean we’re not moving ahead or growing. It only means it’s not in the way we might have plotted it. We need both a deliberate intent for who we want to be, and the flexibility to ride the flow and discover new alternatives. At times, that ugly package is the Universe’s biggest gift and we just didn’t know. Wherever you are, make the best of it and know that if you surrender to the flow, you’ll get much further than if you fight it. Don’t ask “how” you’ll get there so much as focusing on the what you want your life to be about. That vision, attention to where you are going, is what gets you there. Fixation on the rocks brings pain. Fixation on the destination keeps you tracking ever towards it.

Hope you have a wonderful week and manage to sidestep the rocks. And if in doubt, remember, do what you feel good about! Everything else (eventually) falls into place. Much love.

How’s your week looking?

Two-Step Forward Tango: Weekly Flow Tarot, Dec 29 – Jan 4

Tarot Dec 29 - Jan 4

As I look this over, I think of the bit I just read today from my friend Josi, on the 1st quarter moon.

“It is quite common to encounter blocks to intentions at this time. These blocks are not necessarily horrible. Sometimes they are small things that we overcome quite easily. But what they do is put that challenge in front of you so you can walk through the whole assessment thing. You stop, consider your goal, consider the challenge and then decide if you still want to follow through. ” –Josi Case

That’s what this week looks like to me. Challenges and reassessing—two steps forward, one step back in a perhaps-frustrating-but-probably-fruitful dance. I think this is the kind of week that won’t make sense in the middle. It’s only after the fact we’ll realize what all happened. You know what I mean?

Monday, Goal- Magician reversed: The goal is not to have to force each and every little bit of the process. We want a little flow without having to “make it happen” utterly and entirely. Since we’re talking “goal,” that means we’re not there yet.

Tuesday, Unconscious Desires – Six of Cups:  A wish for things to be simpler, less complicated. This is a desire to let go, relax and trust the first person who stands before us. It’s a wish for a sense of innocence. In the position of “unconscious desires,” you may not be aware of just how strong this drive actually is. Be sure you’re not inadvertently overlooking the obvious or blindly trusting today. Not saying things ARE complicated or people ARE untrustworthy. For all I know, that’s not so. But factor the weight of personal desire out of the evaluation algorithm.

Wednesday, Partner, Nine of Wands reversed: The partner here is tired and wants to just let go. Expect this, and offer a hand if appropriate.

Thursday, Future – Strength reversed: You don’t have to hold out forever. But for now? Yeah. Hang on, slow, steady and gentle.

Friday, Disappointment – Chariot reversed: This is a detour. Disappointment over getting sidetracked. Even reversed, the Chariot is a pretty positive card. But I’m reading this as impatience with a delay. Sorry!

Saturday, Blocked or Covering – Queen of Swords: We need a release, and one not based on emotional consideration. Where are you overbooked, overworked, unable to keep up? What ball doesn’t really belong in your court? What habit must you give up in order to reach your goal? What’s weighing you down, or in your way? That’s the root of the detour, right there.

Sunday, Past – Five of Pentacles: The Five of Pentacles is nobody’s favorite card (at least, that I know of), but hey…it’s in the position of “past.” That helps. I see this as longing for something now gone, feeling a loss of old. It could be as simple as mourning a loss of innocence from Tuesday’s “unconscious desire.” It could be feeling Saturday’s realization, which cannot really be taken back. Honor whatever feelings you have, but reach out to your support system as well. I find there is always a support system available when I see this card; people are often just reluctant to invoke it.

Advice/Overview – The Moon: This week is a very small, and in some ways deceptive part of the picture. A lot of grounding and reassurance can take place via reframing. Work a little magic with your words, focusing on the where you’re going over where you’ve been. The moon is the realm of both magic and madness, so work the magic hard to skip the crazy part.

AffirmationListen to your heart. When we’ve got a challenging stint facing us, doing the best we can, doing what we feel good about deep down inside, is a sort of insurance. This is a way you can live without regret, so long as you know you’ve always done the best you know how to do. I used to ask my kids when facing dilemmas, “What would you feel good about?” I suspect this may be a useful question to ask yourself this week, focused only on yourself. What would I feel good about doing? Whatever it is, do that.

How’s your week looking?

Life’s White Spaces: Weekly Flow Tarot, Dec. 22 – 28

Tarot Dec 22 -28

Happy Solstice/New Moon! There is unquestionably some magic on tap, but it’s a Capricorn new moon. So you have to turn on the faucet yourself.

This looks to be a very transitional week. I’m reminded of cleaning out a closet to make way for new clothing, or clearing out a room so someone can move in. Looking at next week as a whole, it strikes me as a mix of emotion and action. But the twist is that most of the “action” potential is rooted in inaction. Big happenings are settling into life’s white spaces—what’s not is as important (or more so) than what is. It’s what you are not doing, not saying, not forcing, that opens up the room to allow. Even saying that is making me feel all existentialist or something. But let’s hit the highlights, day by day.

Monday, Question – The Hanged Man: The question here is one of inaction. Maybe not what you should do, so much as what you should leave alone. For any situations where you are feeling unsure, faith and allowing situations to play out is the recommended strategy.

Tuesday, What to Take from the Past – Page of Cups: Strong, loving heart energy is what you want to access today. Jaded and loving don’t mix. Look a for a pure, uncomplicated, and heart-centered approach. No finesse or relationship management required or desired. I won’t say it’s necessarily easy. It requires a sometimes staunch faith to execute. Some might call this naïve or simplistic. I call it potent, very potent energy.

Wednesday, Hobbies and Talents – Four of Cups: Pastimes and activities you enjoy are a form of meditation. They definitely allow a different perspective. These kinds of activities today may alert you to what you’re missing as much as what you have. You don’t have to seek these answers, by the way. The act of losing yourself in personal expression creates space in your head and your heart, not filled up with daily bustle. It provides a contrast so the points can be more readily perceived.

Thursday, What to Avoid – Four of Wands reversed: Merry Christmas! Advice? Be extra respective of other’s partners and family, even if you don’t feel all that enthused. Not the day to suggest a divorce to anybody! Now maybe this is common sense on a day people often spend with family or maybe not, but the reversed Four of Wands suggests not to disrupt any apple carts. What you don’t say counts! It’s also an important day to honor commitments.

Friday, Co-Workers – High Priestess: The High Priestess is another one of those between-the-lines energies. In the position of co-workers, it would suggest an unspoken understanding related to people you are partnering with. This could be work of course, project related. But it doesn’t have to be. It can speak to any flavor of joint project. Partners may know more than you think they do. Listen for what’s not said. If you are in doubt regarding your own behavior with co-workers, wait, hold back or remain silent. This is another example of the white spaces.

Saturday, Pros – Strength reversed: It’s interesting to find Strength reversed in the “Pros” position. I’m going to say having limits as to time, energy and resources is actually helpful today. It allows you to be human, and encourages you to grant yourself permission to let go of some things in order to direct your resources into others. Your strength shows up via energy freed by what you are not doing. White spaces.

Sunday, Resolution – Nine of Wands reversed: Problems are resolved via not being the last holdout! Stubbornness is not helpful today. Yesterday, we looked at how much was too much. Today, let the “too much” part go. That’s the resolution.

Advice/Overview – Chariot Reversed: Avoid singled-minded focus (read: myopic). The Chariot is indirect anyway. Reversed, it’s so indirect as to be confusing.

AffirmationClaim Your Boundaries: I spoke to someone recently about their circle, and how it’s shrinking. I had a rather vivid image, of a circle around the person, getting smaller and smaller. I don’t think of this as inherently bad. It’s like extract, the essence being accessed. The energy is not so watered down. Reducing a sauce by cooking it down, you know? You allow the heat and time to do it’s work. That’s what this coming week is about. New moons are for starting new projects, new energy patterns, but an inherent component of a new energy pattern is continuing, day by day, to release existing patterns. You have to have white space before it can be filled. Boundaries management is always a vital skill. But for this week, you’re not trying to direct the entire orchestra of everyone in your life. You’re not off to save the world or find the “magic right words” to teach kindness to someone on the internet. You are only regulating yourself. People get confused, thinking boundaries are about regulating the behavior others. They are not…otherwise, setting boundaries would be an impossible proposition. We cannot control anybody else. But boundaries never regulate others. Boundaires specify what you allow into YOUR experience. That is much, much simpler.

Are you noting some “white spaces” in your life?

What’s your point? Weekly Flow Tarot, Oct. 27 – Nov 1, 2014

weekly-tarot-flow-oct27-nov1

Ever undertook a project that you never would have undertaken, had you had any clue how much it would entail? Don’t feel bad if the answer is a resounding, “Yes!” by the way. Sometimes, I think this is a trick my invisible friends use to get me to do just about anything. This week’s forecast makes me think of that phenomena. It’s the last mile of some journey, the part where you’re sick and tired of the whole shebang but there is still more to be done. Not a lot more, mind you. But more nonetheless.

But regardless of the weekly forecast, there is some reason to rejoice: Mercury has gone direct! He’s still a bit mottled in his shadow period for a few days, but before the week is out, he’ll be up to his regular hijinks. So let’s sit back a minute and thank God for that!

Okay, down to business!

Monday, Unconscious Desires – Knight of Wands: Be aware of just how bad you’re itching to break free. The Knight of Wands doesn’t know how to sit still; he’s always burning to get a move on. It would be easy enough to rationalize doing what you really want to do anyway. I’m not saying what you want to do isn’t the best choice. Just know WHY, okay?

Tuesday, Advice – Nine of Wands: This is quite an overwhelming scene! But in the position of “Advice,” the Nine of Wands is going to tell you to finish your business. Make sure each and every one of those Zombies is double-tapped, really dead and/or otherwise neutralized before moving on.

Wednesday, Coworkers – Nine of Cups: A lovely reprieve in the middle of what looks like it could be a challenging week. You have HELP. Woot for help! Whether this is a literal coworker, or a family member or friend who fills that role, there is a happy place here, a haven away from stress and strife, courtesy another who works by your side.

Thursday, Significator – Seven of Pentacles: What is the point, today, this whole week? Very clearly, what you’re building for the future. Lessons learned, seeds planted, foundation laid. That’s it!

Friday, Present – The Lovers: A good day not only for romance, but for appreciating what you have in the NOW. Because we are in the present, and we do have love in our lives. Right?

Saturday, What to Avoid – The Chariot: It’s unusual for me to draw a card like the Chariot in the position of “what to avoid,” since it’s generally a positive vibe. Not to mention it’s a bit at odds with the overall trend of the week, so it particularly catches my attention in such a context.  I want to say to you, be committed to your ultimate outcome, but not the road that must be travelled to get there. These are two different things, you know? Sometimes those side trips provide you with a lot more than you would have ever known if you hadn’t had any detours.

Sunday, Clarification – Ten of Swords: Overwhelm sinks in. Not my preference for wrapping up the week, but I just draw ‘em, I don’t pick ‘em! In the context of clarification, though, I’m going to say there has been a whole lot more going on than perhaps you were aware of throughout the week. That knowledge could well hit like a ton of bricks. Give yourself space to process.

Overview/Advice – The Empress: Throughout the week, keep in mind what you are actually creating here, what you’re giving birth to ultimately. That’s the point. That’s the reason for sticking things out until you’ve done what you need to do, and learned what you need to learn. The theme all week has been perseverance, yes, but not blind perseverance! It’s not about pure stubbornness. It’s conscious, guided perseverance we’re going for, as the Chariot and Empress gently remind.

Affirmation –Violet: Create a balanced life. It’s not always easy, it is? Not for me at least! All toghether, this weekly flow Tarot reminds me of a couple of questions that often come in handy for me:

  • What do I hope to accomplish here?
  • How is the action I’m contemplating contributing to that goal?

If you can honestly answer those two questions, you’re good to go. What’s your point? That’s what you need to be aware of this week. Know your point, know what you want to create, and you’ll have some direction in doing it.

Do you know your point?
