Illusion Ends! Weekly Flow Tarot, August 4 – 10

flow 001

Looking at this week at a whole. I’m thinking we’re talking a significant change of perspective…perhaps not entirely comfortable. Like when a child first realizes there is no Santa, it seems to be a week for outgrowing outmoded lessons. We’ve got a couple of Major Arcana (big deal) along with a mix of the other suits. But whatever form it takes in our lives, I’m really thinking it’s a long term re-orientation.

Monday, Question – Two of Wands: Black and white, this or that? While this art doesn’t show a faceoff, the Two of Wands usually implies one, although it may not be visible.  There is a choice of some sort. The job today is to clarify what it is you are choosing between.

Tuesday, Lesson – The Moon reversed: Looks like learning about some personal “crazy” – someplace where you may have been deceving yourself coming into focus. A little ouchy maybe, but good in the long run.

Wednesday, What to Take from the Past – The Hanged Man: Was there a time when your faith that everything would be okay was stronger? When you were more sure things would work out or you’d get exactly what you needed? That. That is good to bring with you into the now. Music, prayer and naps are saving graces. Showers and baths are also soothing.

Thursday, Relationship – The Fool Reversed: Don’t be petty, and don’t be surprised if somebody you’re connected to is a little petty. It’s a mood, it will pass.

Friday, Disappointment – Eight of Pentacles: Work can be so much…well, work. It’s not always exciting but responsibility can have it’s own rewards. If you’re not happy with where you are, start looking to take one step closer to where you’d like to be. It starts with now.

Saturday, Clarification – Four of Cups Reversed: Have your expectations been unrealistic? Daydreams gone amuck? Maybe what you’ve got isn’t so bad, really. It’s just not what you imagined. Maybe you can start imagining from today, huh? That’s a plan.

Sunday, What to Leave in the Past – Knight of Swords: Filters on the mouth are good. Being critical is not necessarily helpful. Saying everything you’re thinking when it is critical, not a great idea.

Overview/Advice, 7 of Pentacles: Everything this week, good bad and ugly, consider the long-term implications. You’re doing what you need to do to get where you need to get. It may not be where you expected, I got it. But hey, is it really that bad? Or does it maybe have possibilities you never imagined? Go there.

Affirmation: All is Well in my World. This is kind of self-explanatory, don’t you think? Appreciate what you’ve got, man. So many don’t have that. Be grateful. And be well. Have a great week!

Week Ahead, 4/28: Not that bad…

Eh. Kinda ouchy but still manageable…

Short version: It’s probably not as bad as you think–a fact which I underscored and illustrated by misreading Osho Zen’s version of “Strength” as the “Tower.” You’ll get the most mileage by cultivating some faith where it’s lacking, doing what you have to do but letting the rest go.

Upside: May be some blessings in disguise, wrapped up in this intense mess.

Aside: For Godssakes, stop comparing your worth to everybody else’s! This is cropping up all over the place on my radar, so I’m mentioning it now. You are unique and so is your value. Okay?

You feeling this?

11/04/13: Fair Payment / Hanged Man

Hanged Man Sacrifice Psychic Tarot Oracle Deck

Sacrifice is certainly one element of Neptune, the modern association for the Hanged Man. But being a watery bastard, Neptune is never clear-cut.

Here’s what I’m seeing in “Sacrifice” today: Live true, with integrity, earmarking your sacrifices toward worthwhile ends. Here, we’re not talking martyrdom. I do not believe in wasting energy, a finite commodity for the physical form.

“Sacrifice” in this sense has a nobler ring. It’s a payment. If that payment is a good and fair exchange for what it purchases, you’ve done well. No one need be victim, if all act true in free will with a true heart.

Are you facing a sacrifice?

03/17/13: Antsy / Hanged Man

“Faith is not something to grasp, it is a state to grow into.” Mahatma Gandhi

So maybe your life isn’t going as planned, not even close! And maybe you’re beyond bothered, having tried so hard to do all the “right” things. I get you. There’s a edge here, an urge to make make some sort of grand gesture akin smacking all the chess pieces off the board and starting over.

I wouldn’t. Not today, at least.

We’ve got the reversed Hanged Man (or here, the Hanging Man) from my new deck, The Gilded Tarot. He’s not on the traditional tree, and strikes me as being more active than most versions we see, but at the very least, he doesn’t seem anxious or upset despite his predicament. And like most versions, his legs form a “4” shape, which I associate with Tarot fours, meaning stability and safety.

Connected to Neptune, the Hanged Man often speaks to concepts like faith and sacrifice. His energy is very hard to pin down, and reversed, even more so.

Think back to the challenging times you’ve had in the past, those points where you felt lost and frustrated. Some may have been extremely unpleasant, but did you not manage to find your way out? Did you not manage to grow in the process? Did you not learn lessons that could not have been learned any other way?

(If your answer is “No,” you’re doing it wrong. No judgment, I just believe in extracting gifts from sucky life experience.)

Mercury is going direct and motion, hence leaving you feel less blocked shortly. In the meantime, grow your faith and accept where you are now in order to ride the energy in a natural progression.

Are you feeling antsy?

12/29/12: Let go to regain control | Hanged Man

hanged-man-meaning-tarot-zombies

Have you ever seen a more point-on rendition of the Hanged Man in your life?

The feel of the Hanged man is very Neptunian—it’s all in your perspective. Strength or weakness, winning or losing, victory or defeat come down to how you see it. He doesn’t show up in a reading when the deal is done. Instead, he shows us a time of limbo, outward inaction. (Okay, this fellow has a gun, but it’s not firing at the moment.) But under the surface, behind the scenes, all around him or even just inside his head, things ARE moving!

Around him, the Zombies are running rampant, as are the concerned onlookers. But he isn’t flinching, even managing to look fairly serene in what would largely be consider a rather precarious position. He appears to have ultimate faith that he’ll get what he needs. Being upside down, what he sees may well be the opposite of what everyone else perceives as real. But he’s not bothered. In being unshakable, he finds his center. That’s the source of his power.

Whatever has felt so life-and-death lately? Let go. Let go if it. Let go of it all. Let go of it now. You really don’t have a choice anyway. And isn’t looking for your center a lot better than pretending the worry and stress makes a helpful impact anyway?

(Yes, Tarot. I’m listening!)
