06/27/12: Words to Happy? | rev Sun, rev Knight Swords

Wherever you’re not happy, look to how you think and communicate in that realm. Step back as if an outside party, and listen to yourself think and talk about the topics at hand. In your speech and thoughts, and you’ll find reflections of areas of disharmony, lacking balance. Words can also cast a pall over your joy. Pay attention to how you speak about your life. If you talk a lot of problems you don’t have, speak of fears or have expectations of doom, it’s hard to be happy. Thoughts and words can become second nature, a subconscious part of our script. Rewrite the story to better suit you. Paint a prettier scene.

01/14/12: You don’t make me happy…| The Sun Reversed

sun-reversed-meaningAnytime your happiness relies on someone else, it puts you in precarious position. You are not only handing over self-determination, but infringing! Your happiness is YOUR rightful load. In forcing over the weight, it’s exerting a form of control, manipulation. Responsibility for well-being is individual.

Today’s Tarot is the Sun reversed. Welcomed even reversed, the Sun is happiness, radiance, and inner light. No wonder people love it! The Sun reveals and shows everything in it’s best light. It’s a content, joyful card.

Inverted, maybe there are a few clouds in the sky. But the basic building blocks of “happy” are still intact. Maybe you’re overlooking the bright side? Maybe there’s been a little rain on your parade. It happens. But really, how big of a deal is it? Perspective is always helpful.

And if you’ve pinning your definition of happy on somebody else, is that your best plan? I know you care, but you can love without attaching that way, you know? It’s the difference between weighing down versus lifting up. You can cheer ’em on, be a support and encouragement, without getting mired in someone else’s mud. That helps no one.

We don’t know how the scene will unfold—that’s the material plane gig. So basically, you’ve got your good sense and faith to work with. Do it! If something’s not working for you, then work on it! It’s your job to work toward your own happiness. If you get distracted trying to do your neighbor’s job, you’ll never get anything done. And it isn’t really doing your neighbor any favors, really.

11/15/11: Do Something Already | Four of Cups, Nine of Wands, Sun Reversed

“The smallest, most humble action trumps even the most grandiose plans.” –Dixie

Today’s Tarot forecast is the Four of Cups (Moon in Cancer), Nine of Wands (Moon in Sagittarius), and the reversed Sun. Clearly, we’re talking about feelings here with two of the three cards association with the Moon astrologically. We had the Four of Cups quite recently to boot. Taken together, this threesome speaks to me about dreaming versus doing, avoiding versus attacking.

And you know, okay. Sometimes even when you do attack issues head on, climb that ladder of success, your life doesn’t completely come out sunny side up. I get that. All is not magically perfect. It’s still life, and we still have challenges to face. Granted. But in the stuff that matters most, the essence of happiness is still there, you know? If you’ve got the basic building blocks in place, you can revisit and refine. But you’ve got to sober up before you hop on that ladder to climb up, up, up.

Is there anything you’ve been avoiding?

11/05/11: Enjoying Your Trip? | Reversed Sun, Fool

When my husband and I were getting ready to buy our first home, we used to daydream about how utterly perfect everything would be, once it was ready. There would be enough room for everything! We’d have our  own space and our yard and our peaceful meals in the dining room and the kids would never get underfoot and blah, blah blah. We took to calling it the “magic house,” just a little tongue-in-cheek. You know. Because it would magically make everything wonderful!

Mmmm hmmm. I’m sure you can guess how that worked out. It was pretty and shiny and new, at first. But you bring yourself to wherever you go. We were the same people in a new place, and new has a limited lifespan. The mistake we made in “magic-housing” is assuming that outside factors made all the difference. Outside experiences impact the day-to-day, sure, but they ain’t the be-all and end-all, you know? Your internal experiences is the common denominator, what you carry with you no matter what.

Today’s Tarot forecast is the Inverted Sun (associated, not surprisingly, with the SUN!), and the Fool (Uranus). If you’re not happy, well, get moving, grasshopper! This is YOUR path, your responsibility, your job to find your way. Not mine, not your husband’s, your girlfriend’s or your kid’s. YOURS. Break yourself free (Uranus).

Travel_PicAnd the other thing—it’s gotta be about the journey, always. If you can’t extract your joy, feel wonder and gratitude and passion from process  itself…well, I hate to say it, but you’re kind of screwed. The destination,  that fateful day you actually move in to your magic house? That’s a trifling 1% of your total experience! The glow wears off. The journey, to one magic house or another though, is the other 99% of the gig.

If you’re not feeling the full force of light in your life, right here, right now, then start seeking your own adventure. Because it is your job to find it.

Are you enjoying your trip? If not, is there something you can adjust?

10/31/11: Give Yourself Credit! | Rev. 7 of Pentacles, Rev. 4 of Cups, The Sun

“Low self-esteem is like driving through life with your hand-break on.” Maxwell Maltz

Today’s Tarot is the reversed Seven of Pentacles (Saturn in Taurus), Reversed Four of Cups (Scorpio Sun), and The Sun (Sun, duh). You’ve worked quite hard, planted your seeds already, and assessed their growth appropriately. Don’t discount the work you’ve already done, the results you’ve already received. They count! Everything counts. Take some joy from your successes—you own them, okay?

Nothing motivates like success. Examine your own winnings, rejoice in them, and USE them to encourage yourself, as fuel future growth.

Do you have trouble giving yourself credit for the work you’ve done?
