07/30/12: Execute! | 3 Pentacles

No, I’m not giving anybody excuse to pull out the machete. Execute your plan! Take steps, make moves, DO something for goodness sakes!

I don’t care if it’s Mercury retro, Uranus retro, or your motivationally retro. Consider this a timely Tarot nudge. I know I am!

Do you have something you need to be doing?

03/25/12: Sorrow to Divinely Inspired | 9 Swords, 3 Pentacles

Today’s Tarot is the Nine of Swords (aka Clouds, Sun in Gemini) and the Three of Pentacles again (Rainbows here, Moon in Capricorn). Like the traditional Nine of Swords, this image emphasizes a sense of isolation—the kind that visits late at night, when you’re all alone. This version of the Three of Pentacles is an interesting take—like all Tarot threes, a birthing is underway. Here, it comes from the mating of your mind and divine inspiration. One or the other won’t get you there. The inspiration has to be acted upon to impact your world.

Are you feeling sorrowful, isolated? Pray. Look for new ideas, serendipity, and divine inspiration appearing out of nowhere. Those little nudges you feel, one way or another? Incorporate what you’re getting, into your plans. This is the way forward.

Do you find divine inspiration in times of sorrow?

03/22/12: On-the-job training | Rev 3 Pentacles

“There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.” Buddha

Today’s Tarot is the reversed Three of Pentacles (Moon in Capricorn). Ah, those Cappys do love their planning! It fulfills an emotional need (Moon) for security (Capricorn). But no matter your chart, sometimes plans go awry. And it can be upsetting!

It’s okay. All is not lost, although you may need to remain flexible. But hey, how many innovations have been made exactly because of plans that have gone awry? People don’t succeed because of comprehensive planning, although solid planning matters. It’s not helpful to get pissed when what you willed didn’t take place the way you willed it.

Rather, people fly or fall based on their ability to ride the energy as it unfolds. You may have to fence in (Capricorn) your emotional response (Moon) to successfully ride the wave.

If your plans have gone amiss, maintain the pieces that still work for you and regroup the rest of your energy. The trick is not getting caught up in a big fluster over what’s shaken loose. Instead, see it as opportunity to enhance your mastery (Capricorn). You learn as you go. On-the-job training is underway: be a quick study!

How do you cope when plans start to fall apart?

02/11/12: Taking Score | 4 Cups, 3 Pentacles, 7 Pentacles

Although we welcome growth, seeing results of long-undertaken efforts (Seven of Pentacles/Saturn in Taurus) and start putting all into place as planned (Three of Pentacles/Moon in Capricorn), understand there will still be questions of satisfaction (Four of Cups/Moon in Cancer).

Is this really what you want? Did you make the best decisions? Is it everything you dreamed it would be?

Maybe so, or maybe not. But the questions themselves are proper and right. Matching up what you have with what you dream seems a pretty relent signpost, don’t you think?

Just don’t forget to acknowledge what you’ve got. It’s a time for review, learning and reassessing. But always, the time is appropriate for gratitude.

Have you been assessing your course? How’s it holding up?

10/20/11: Three of Pentacles | Set up a Committee!

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” –Michael Jordan

I’ve worked for myself for a number of years and there are many, many parts of the working-for-myself lifestyle I’d never want to trade. (Like not needing permission to have pink hair!)

One thing I do miss, however, is the camaraderie of being on a team—colleagues help plan, strategize and offer feedback, something you may not value that much until you don’t have it. Even if meetings threaten to make your head explode. Because I know, I can’t be the only one.

Lone wolf: Make some friends!

Today’s Tarot is the Three of Pentacles or Lord of Material Works, associated with Mars in Capricorn. Find partners who share your common goal and work together. You’ll get further than  alone. Mars provides drive, while Capricorn provides structure and mastery. Make sure responsibility (Capricorn) is clear. Then act (Mars)on your part.

Are you working with others toward a common goal? How’s it going?
