Two of Cups & Page of Swords: Communicating Minus the Baggage

Back in the old days when I had a job-job, I used to work with my husband. We usually went to lunch together. Captain Virgo is a news hound to the core, so we often listened to talk radio in the car.

And sometimes, this little habit drove me up the wall.

Why? Because he listened to all kinds of programs, featuring all kinds of viewpoints. Not just viewpoints I considered rational or valid, but ALL kinds.

So there were some programs I found quite agreeable, but others drove me nuts. I didn’t understand how on Earth he could listen to some of it without becoming infuriated. I certainly couldn’t!

It took a while for me to catch on: he likes to understand not only what others think, but why they think it. He likes to consider issues from multiple perspectives doesn’t automatically dismiss an idea based on who it came from. He finds the food for thought reward for listening, not solely seeking the quick emotional payoff of hearing someone else say what he already believes.

I’ve developed a huge amount of respect for this trait over the years and can even listen to a lot more without getting flustered. Not everything, because I’m not a double Virgo. But a lot more.

This coming week, I’d suggest we all look to focus more on relevant details and leave the emotional baggage–be it our own or another’s–by the door.

Next Week in Tarot

Two of Cups & Page of Swords: Communicating Minus the Baggage 1

Our weekly outlook came in as the Two of Cups, with advice from the Page of Swords from the Radiant Rider-Waite deck.

Listen to a short audio version of this week’s forecast below (3:42). Real-time Dix!

The Two of Cups signifies a lovefest of sorts. Like will be attracting like this coming week–well okay, it works that way in general, but you’ll really notice it this week. People will be especially inclined to hook up with others who feel and believe similarly.

So the vibe, in general, may be more comfortable in terms of feeling assured of your ultimate “rightness,” but that doesn’t mean anything has really been resolved on a grand scale or positions become less entrenched. In fact, I’m expecting the opposite as people paying near-exclusive attention to others who agree with them, thus providing a self-fulfilling sort of proof.

The world is bigger than what you can see, you know? This is true for all of us, no matter who we are.

Advice is coming in via the Page of Swords. Make your messages clear and to the point. Don’t a lot of emotional baggage to your words.  I wouldn’t bother telling people off or trying to sneak any guilt trips in your speeches here. Keep communications businesslike and fact-based.

It’s not so much about keeping the peace. It’s just that any extraneous emotion in communications at this point is very likely to muddy up the water and make your interactions far less effective. Be judicious with your words. Speak clearly. Focus on relevant details without emotional editorializing.

You don’t have to change your opinions. Just don’t assume everybody else has to share those opinions in order to be a decent human being. They don’t. Stick to what needs to be said as much as you can, respecting others to have the capacity to draw their own conclusions. They do have to capacity, every bit as much as you do.

How are you doing with managing those divides?

Knight of Wands: Passion and Harmony

Just about every day, there is some new thing people are wound up about. Have you noticed? Maybe big things, maybe little things, but they seem important to the people talking about them all.

Sometimes I follow the stories and sometimes I don’t. Mostly, if a story is interesting to me, I follow it. If it bothers or upsets me in any way, I don’t. I prioritize being happy over being involved.

There is so much of everything in this world to choose from! I make a habit of selecting those things that harmonize with what I want to give the vast majority of my attention. I think I have a better life for it.

Next Week in The Cards

Knight of Wands: Passion and Harmony 2

Does this Messenger of Fire (aka Knight of Wands) look familiar? She should. She’s been here recently! Her job today is to describe the coming week, with advice coming specifically from the Two of Water (Two of Cups), both drawn from the Good Tarot.

Expect communication to be passionate and intense this coming week from all sides. Instead of looking for which source is the rightest of the right, seek out harmony.

It’s fine to decide what you feel is best about anything and everything. Just don’t hold your breath about others coming along for the ride. Some may, but many won’t.

The intensity we’ve got here leaves you with a choice: you can either get really, really agitated focusing on (and therefore growing) all these areas of disagreement.

Or you can happily swim along, paying attention to that which vibes with how you are feeling it. This week, actively seek out those moments, ideas, things, whatever, that resonate with you; pay less attention to everything that doesn’t.

Want some one-on-one help getting reoriented? Holler at me for a private session.

Diversity of opinion makes this world a more robust, dynamic place (and we cannot escape it anyway, so why not make peace with it)?  Both what you want and what you don’t are present in every issue. What you focus on is turned up in your world.

What do you want to turn up?

Two of Cups: Syncing Up with Dreams

What energy are you synced up with? Your dreams? Or your nightmares?

I’ve decided life is more or less a big, fat Rorschach test. What someone sees tells me nothing about “reality,” but much more about where their energy is focused.

Do you see the world as an unrelentingly ugly place? Do you find a lot of fault with what you consider around you, every day? Because if you do, you’re syncing up with the ugly in the world.

Now, I’m not going to say it’s not out there. Of course, it is! And I’m not going to say you should not care. It’s up to you, what you care about. And yes, you’re certainly contributing to the change by amping up the desire for change. You’re doing a service.

But man. It’s not a very comfortable way to live. And while adding your voice to the call for change is one route for service, it’s not the only path.

We live in a big world with endless variety. There is just as much beauty as there is ugly! Turning toward the beauty is not contributing to the ugly. It’s contributing to the beauty! Looking for the good and participating in it is another, equally valid path to service. It’s a way to move to the front of the crowd, leading others into the future those cries for change have helped define instead of hanging around in the middle of the pack to continue sounding alarm.

My primary objective is to live a happy life. And when I assume the best about people (without worrying how likely it is or not), I just feel better. It’s truer to that happy, loving person that I am, at my best. I want to express who I am, as purely as I can. When I can find a loving lens to look through is when I shine brightest. So it makes good sense to take every opportunity I can find to see the world kindly. It’s always going to feel better.  And it’s a pretty damn good way to live.

I choose to sync up with (and therefore live) my dreams over my nightmares. I choose to see the best I can find to see wherever I look, regardless of anyone else’s intentions.

It doesn’t matter if anybody else deserves it. I deserve it!

Being kind to yourself is the easiest way to orient to this perspective. Feeling bad about yourself makes it pretty much impossible to feel good about anybody else. Let yourself off the hook first! The energy will start flowing more smoothly after that. ♥

Your vibration will always be in harmony with SOMETHING. What is the “something” you want to be in sync with?

Next Week in Tarot: Getting in Sync

Two of Water Good Tarot

We’ve got the Two of Cups (aka the Two of Water in the Good Tarot) and Garden Heliotrope–Devotion and Dreams Fulfilled–from the Botanical Inspirations Deck. This is a very sweet combo! It’s speaking very clearly to me on aligning with your dreams emotionally–and therefore, energetically.

Those two little fishes (often associated with abundance) are in sync, in harmony.  This card often denotes a fresh new relationship or budding love. Even when it’s not discussing romantic love, however, it does indicate a coming together in harmony. When you see this Two, there is a complementary union. Expect an ease and flow to this energy,  forging a natural (and powerful) pairing.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. –Eleanor Roosevelt

Together, we’re being advised to emotionally sync up with our dreams. The easiest way to do this is to tap into the feelings associated with your dream, utterly unencumbered by the details of reality.

You'll find whatever you're expecting to find. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Syncing up with your dreams isn’t very hard, at least for a minute. The snags start when you begin asking, “How? When? What?” If you start asking questions you have no answers for, you will harmonize with obstacles instead of the dream.

Leave the how-to up the Universe, okay? Not your job. Your only job is to line up your energy.

This week, decide to find as much of what you want as you can find with ZERO concerns about “reality.” What might be considered objective truth is irrelevant. What feels best, truest to who you are at the core, is what counts. And this you can steer by the perspective you choose.

What are you harmonizing with?

Energy Budget: Weekly Tarot, Feb 27 – Mar 5, 2017

I spend a good amount of time on social media for business. It’s goal-driven participation, but you know how that is. So much of everything there…

Oh my God, I hide so much!

It’s daily. Lots and lots and lots gets hidden or blocked. And not because there is thing one wrong with what I’m hiding. People can discuss whatever it is they want to discuss and feel about it however they want to feel about it. I am genuinely egotistical, but not so much I think I’ve cornered the market on truth or perspective. I would never want to impinge upon the freedom of others! But that doesn’t mean I have to be a participant in all of it, either.

It’s just really important to me, how I feel. I consider how I feel THE top priority in my life. It’s my job to feel as good as I can, as much of the time as I can. And to that ends, I won’t become mired in lengthy discussion of issues that are upsetting to me.

Does such avoidance make me selfish, uninformed, deluded, privileged, or otherwise derelict in my social responsibilities?

Maybe. I know for a fact, there are kind-hearted, loving people who deem it so–and that, too, is their right. Don’t care, if you want to know the God’s-to-honest truth. I love y’all but I’ve gotta make decisions for myself. Some people feel that fighting what they perceive as wrong is the only way to impact change. If that’s what you believe, then you should do that! Always do what you feel is right and I wish you well in doing it.

For me, I believe being the best person I know how to be is my greatest opportunity to contribute. So I’m doing that.

This week? People may benefit from a less direct approach across the board, too–more water, less rock. At least, consider stepping back until you’re feeling utterly stable in your own skin. Impulsiveness or brashly powering through barriers is not favored.

Be more water, less rock. Weekly #Tarot Forecast Click To Tweet

Tarot foretells a week that remains somewhat squishy, with a mix of primarily Cups, Pentacles and peppered with some Major Arcana. We start out rough–eclipse hangover, perchance? But by the weekend (provided you played your cards right), it’s looking pretty sweet.

Overall, I keep getting themes of budgeting energy expenditures. Don’t spend what you don’t have to freely spend on any level, and prioritize managing your emotional state. That is something you ARE in charge of!  I’ll take it, ’cause really, what choice do I have anywho?

View the Full Forecast in video, here.

I liked the Queen of Swords advice last week to hit the bullet points, so I’m running with it.

Day-by-Day-Play-by-Play

  • Monday, Queen of Pentacles rx: Mind your resources and don’t spend more than what you’ve got of whatever it is.
  • Tuesday, Knight of Cups rx: Hold off with emotional dumping messages. Highly sensitive time in general and strong possibility you’ll be misheard if you communicate impulsively.
  • Wednesday, Six of Pentacles rx: Take care of your own business. Don’t hop in to try and fix for others. No charity work.
  • Thursday, Ace of Pentacles rx: Lowish energy. Don’t overspend, anything, again.
  • Friday, The Tower: Choices earlier in the week culminate. If you overdid, it will fall apart today. If you showed restraint, the crashes won’t be yours.
  • Saturday, The Chariot: Single-minded focus on what you care about, and forget the rest. Simple.
  • Sunday, Two of Cups: Great date night. Expect peace, harmony and music. Good flow today.
  • Overview/Advice, Six of Wands: It may not be obvious, but it’s all working out in the bigger picture. Appreciate what’s working and let everything else be.
  • Affirmation: Loss. Focus on what you’ve got, not what you don’t. It’s your choice, what you make bigger in your life.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17

Roughly 99% of the stuff I’ve spent much of my life worrying over hasn’t come to pass. I think that means I’m a mother.

And that which has come to pass? My worrying didn’t somehow prepare me to cope better. It just amped up the unpleasantness.

So now? I ease myself a step back any time I notice I’m starting to spiral into a worry-fest, whether the focus is personal or more global. Because it’s all the same. Experiencing disasters in my head is practicing disaster and knocking me off my center. It does no good and it feels rotten, which is my first and biggest clue it’s not a good idea.

These days, I look to expect better and screw what’s “realistic.”

I’m noticing a theme here for the last few forecasts. Or maybe, it’s a mostly a theme in my head, in my life. But I’m finding myself repeatedly drawn to taking a step back and a deep breath. Centering back to the self. Step back and center, step back and center. Taking what’s useful and ignoring everything else.

It’s a silly little thing, true, and honestly much easier to say than it is to do. But if you make this a practice–that’s another theme in my head, practice, consistency, repetition–but if you make this a practice, what you find is that you’re more at peace than you were before.

It’s the difference between trying to solve someone’s problems in your head, then offering and advocating for your solution, then worrying about whether or not your solution will be properly implemented or at all…OR offering the support of believing in the individual’s ability to make their own choices, live their own life, and resolve their own problems.

What you do most often is what shapes your day-to-day existence. And for me? I want peace, support, love and an easy sense of calm to shape my world. So let’s get specific and see how we do that for next week.

Day-by-day forecast taken directly from the video above.

Okay, one thing really, really notable about these cards, is that all except one of them are inverted.

Easy does it! Weekly Tarot, 2/13/17 4

A crappy picture of next week’s cards.

Ohhhhh.

Now, I don’t read inverted cards as the opposite of the traditional meaning. I usually read it as having the same energy, but not freely expressing. However, when I have a week full of inverted cards, I know it’s probably not gonna be a super comfortable, easy ride. Just so you know.

So, with that having been said, let’s just kinda hop right in here, and see what we’ve got.

It, looks like an emotional week.

Monday is the Page of Cups reversed. Potential for emotional overreaction. Where people wear their feelings on their sleeves. Or are otherwise just easily upset, maybe even including you.

So, space. Space, okay? Everybody needs lots of space. And extra downtime.

Naps. Naps are good. Naps are your friend.

So Monday might be a little edgey. Sorry. What are you gonna do?

Tuesday, the Knight of Swords reversed. Knights, especially inverted knights, have a tendency to be impulsive. In the suit of Swords, reversed again, there’s potential for impulsive words or blurting or harsh kind of sharp or critical language.

So be aware of that. And I hope you’re not on the receiving end. Do what you can not to be on the giving end, ok? ‘Cause these kind of words, a lot of times, there’s a hangover.

Just so you know.

And Happy Valentine’s Day. HAHAHA!

Wednesday, we have the Two of Cups, which is lovely card, inverted, which I would prefer to see it upright, but still to me this is the beginnings of a little bit more harmony or a little bit more connection, or at least the potential for it coming in the week. So, not everything is in harmony. The basic points are actually in agreement, but you might not notice you’re busy fighting. You take what you can get, right?

Thursday, I have the Queen of Swords and I have her upright. Now, I want to tell you to be fair. Be clear. And filter! Not just filter your mouth, although I’m never going to advise against that. I’ll be honest!

But listen to the facts, not how they’re presented. Listen to the message or the intention, not whether or not you agree. In other words, take what information, take what understanding, needed, that you want, that is useful, that is helpful, that forwards things along and discard the rest!

If somebody uses an insensitive word or is not particularly thoughtful about how they express themselves or whatever, the Queen of Swords just ignores, ignores, ignores. She does not respond to anything she doesn’t like or she doesn’t need or doesn’t want. So that’s what we’ve got and that will really, really help you on Thursday.

And probably before and after Thursday a little.

Friday, it’s the Seven of Pentacles, which is another generally speaking positive card, reversed. Now in this case, it feels like what you do doesn’t matter. I’m not going to say that’s true, or overall or in this case for that matter. But that’s kind of the feeling that I’ve got going on. Thursday. To deal with that, I have the Two of Wands reversed.

And what I want to say in that regard is don’t push back. Just back up, back up, back up; in fact, I’m seeing a car, backing out of a parking space. Backing up don’t get, stuck, solidified. You know. It…don’t get in a place that is not…don’t put yourself in a corner. Just kind of back up, easy does it, easy does it, that’s kind of the vibe I’m wanting for the whole week!

Saturday, the Emperor reversed. When I see this, a lot of times there are control freak issues. So control yourself, not the other. Whatever that’s worth. And people might be trying to control you. And, I mean, you know what to do with that.

You smile, and you say, “Thank you so much for your caring and concern for me. I really, really appreciate that. And I will take everything you have to say under advisement.”

In other words, I’m going to do exactly what I want to do, but I want to acknowledge you in a positive way that you can’t really argue with. Mmmm! Problem solved.

Okay. Sunday, I’ve got the Four of Swords. But it’s shown up reversed. Now, the Four of Swords in general is a card of rest or relaxation. Having it reversed on Sunday makes me think, hmmm. Maybe there’s some last minute details that need to be attended to. Check Sunday. On my clarification, I got Strength. But check Sunday, and see if there’s any follow through or anything that’s gotten missed or just kind of slid on by that you could stand to deal with, okay? Before the week gets started.

Overview/Advice: The Five of Swords reversed. [Note: I  missed covering this in the video.]

No need to take score or decide what is right and what it wrong. It’s superfluous. You can evaluate for YOURSELF, your own experience and life, what you want there and what you don’t. But there is no reason to compare that to anything else to decide what is better and worse. You “win” here by not caring who wins, instead just directing your own experience.

Our affirmation here, we’ve got, “Everything I touch is a success!”

And the back of it says, “I now establish a new awareness of success. I know I can be as successful as I make up my mind to be. I can move into the winning circle.”

At first, I thought it said, I could move into Wyoming. Why, is Wyoming special?

“Golden opportunities are everywhere for me. Prosperity of every kind is drawn to me.”

Whether you’re into these kind of affirmations or not, people have really big tendency to acknowledge what goes wrong and dismiss what goes right. At least in their conversation, so I’m assuming we’re doing it in our heads as well.

And I say to you, how about acknowledging what goes right and ignoring what goes wrong? Maybe a simple concept, maybe revolutionary. Depends.

I’m seeing water, a huge body of water. And like being in a big body of water, you don’t want to try and fight the tide. You want to relax into the flow, and then kind of paddle the direction that you’re looking for. That’s the mental image, imagery that I’m getting. In other words, you try to fight the tide in the coming week, you’re going to drown in it. If you ride it, then when it’s calm enough, edge towards the direction you want to go, and you’re going to be a lot more successful. So light touch next week.

Don’t fight yourself, the tide or anybody else. Just take your time. Slow and steady.

Riding the Waves: Weekly Flow Tarot, Feb 15 -21

Tarot reader observation: LOTS of transition, upheaval and serious change in the air.

And I know from experience, those exceptionally disrupted times, the tide ebbs and flows. There are easier days and harder days. Easier hours and harder hours. And you can’t do squat about those waves, of overwhelm and struggle that sometimes roll in.

You only have control over how you ride the waves.

forecastfeb15

This week? Reversed cards tell me it’s not smooth sailing. Lots of Major Arcana, so serious implications to the issues that are active. Most of the cards are supportive and there are a number of friendly influences, but there’s an undeniable edge.  Those waves have a bite to ’em.

Surf’s up, so hop on your board.

Monday, Two of Pentacles rx: Prioritize and drift away from the extraneous or something’s gonna get dropped in the shuffle.

Tuesday, Wheel of Fortune rx: No, everything may not FEEL like it’s going your way, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a blessing in disguise. See the benefits as well as the frustrations and don’t discount what you don’t yet see.

Wednesday, The Hermit: Prescription – quiet time! Downtime, preferably alone, near naturue, in fresh air or in a bath near plants and a candle would be perfect. Meditative activits

Thursday, Two of Cups rx: Another mixed bag day. You could focus on what you like, or what you don’t. Either’s valid. Just use whatever you focus on to help you move forward, you know?

Friday, King of Pentacles rx: Budget your energy. Only spend it with those that add to your life and whom you feel good about sharing it with.

Invest your energy where there is a solid return. Click To Tweet

Saturday, The Lovers: Date night? Date with yourself works! This is an easy-going, in the flow vibe. Use it for joy.

Sunday, Five of Cups: Well ow! Not what we’re hoping to see after happy date night. Feelings of sadness, mourning and loss mayb come to visit…Good day to be kind to yourself and wrap up in some loving feelings, wherever you keep your favorites.

Overview/Advice: The devil reversed. Be aware of what your attached to. Is is serving you? Is it healthy and balanced? Because I certainly appears to be a choice, even if you don’t always recognize the fact. Opportunity this week to free yourself of some weight if you opt along those lines.

Affirmation: I trust my inner wisdom. Listen for the cues. Those are the ones we sometimes dismiss, for lack of trust or energy or desire to make useful changes. Keep doing a gut check, seeing what gives you joy versus what stresses you out when you consider it. Even if you don’t know why–especially if you don’t know why–listen anyway.
