02/09/14: Unexpected Love / 2 of Cups

2 of Cups Surprise

What a nice break from some of the bleak! The Two of Cups coupled with “Surprise” would suggest an unexpected gesture of love to arrive today. It could be romantic, or not. But whatever form it takes, it will be true and I think, soothing. Like a beautiful piece of music filling the room, harmony lifting the mood.

I’ll take it!

Are you seeing any surprise expressions of love?

01/26/14: Meh… / 2 of Cups

2 of CupsToday’s reversed Two of Cups as “Resolution” almost seems like an answer to yesterday’s unsettling Eight of Cups.

I prefer the Two of Cups upright. But even inverted, we can work with it—at least to a point. I am calling it a partial victory, compromise, or maybe even an agreement to disagree. It’s a troubled romance, incomplete and not wholly satisfactory for sure, but also not without something to appreciate all the same.

Resolution (and hopefully getting turned upright) depends upon seeking out areas upon which to build for the future, provided that is your aim.

As it stands, the energetic forecast for the day is a resounding “Meh.” With hard work and a very sunny attitude, chance for upgrade to an “Hmm.” Sigh potential holding at 40%.

12/11/13: Gritted Teeth / 2 of Cups Reversed

Two of Cups Reversed

Are you acting like you’re “in love” but not really feeling it? Discord buried by smiled-festooned faces? That’s the Reversed Two of Cups vibe I’m feeling today. Not “ready-to-choke-the-bastard” angry. More like “strained smile in a social setting” irked.

Maybe it’s for the best, to keep your bother to yourself. Maybe it’s just avoiding conflict when it would be better addressed. I don’t know! I’m not you. I just know somebody, somewhere, is most likely faking it. That doesn’t mean the situation cannot be arighted, turning that card back up and restoring harmony. It just means for right now, it ain’t quite there.

Bear that in mind as you judge social situations today. Be on the lookout for gritted teeth!

10/30/13: Just How You Are/ 2 of Cups

Two of Cups

“I love you just how you are.” How sweet and reassuring are those words?

My husband and I have a lot in common. We also have a lot not in common. In order to maintain a relationship over the long haul, both must be honored.

It’s certainly a relief to have a happier card to go to today! Remember yesterday, when I mentioned that to make way for the new, the old has to go? Today, we’ve got the new. Yee haw!

This Two of Cups also reminds me especially, everyone is not you! If you are not happy allowing your zombie mate to eat what tastes good to them, somebody is going to be seriously dissatisfied.

Accept those you love as the individuals they are, expect the same in return, and you can forge a meaningful bond. Don’t and you’ll have all kinds of headaches.

There is potential for a very harmonious partnership, a blending of forces. By remaining true to yourself while allowing others the same freedom, you’ve got a great start!

Do you have a new partnership underway?

06/28/13: Ruminate on Love / 2 of Cups

“Don’t brood. Get on with living and loving. You don’t have forever.” Leo Buscaglia

How much does it really matter, anyway? This question has saved countless hours of discontent. When I’m able to let go of “right” and “should” and insistence that everyone else must see the world as me—and hence behave as I feel appropriate—life becomes infinitely easier. Attachments to personal perception of propriety are certainly my right. But everyone else on the planet (or beyond) has the same basis at work, the same drive to self-determination.

How much pain and suffering comes from stubbornly trying to enforce vision, morality and perspective upon unwilling recipients? It’s not self-determination that’s so bothersome. It’s that “other-determination” that gets my goat! It’s a fine line between activism and control freak. Instead of trying to convert, I’m opting to be myself a clearly and purely as I know how. Those who choose to be of similar energy will be drawn. Those who are diametrically different will be repulsed. It’s a much less labor-intensive system.

The Two of Cups is a lesser version of the Lovers. In the Housewives’ Tarot, the man and woman reflect perfect harmony, inhabiting a little emotional world all their own. In each coupling, there is a coming together of like spirits, but also a sublimation of two different parties into a single entity. The two become one in that sense, but needn’t lose their individuality in the process.

To be surrounded by love, feel love and be love. You may not love some specific behavior, but hold fast to the principle. The discordant vibrations fall away. I inject energy into what I want in my life, and dismiss the rest. This is a lot more effective than electing to force-feed my will to those not hungry for it.

Are you able to dismiss what you don’t like about loved ones?

06/06/13: Baby Makes 3 / Page Pentacles, 2 Cups, Temperance

2_of_CupsTarot_14_TemperancePage_of_PentaclesAh, what a great combination of images. The Two of Cups show us a meeting of the hearts, emphasized by Temperance’s rainbow underneath. Compromise, a blending of energies show a balanced, integrated relationship. And that Page of Pentacles is kind of like “baby makes three.”

If you honestly connect on a heart/emotional level and look to contribute the best of what each party has to the whole, you can manifest the fruits of this connection in the real world. Look for tangible confirmation of a balanced blending of energy to arrive in terms of a new birth of some kind or another. Maybe it’s a baby-baby, or a company or a partnership or a friendship. It could even be an internal process where two of your passions blend to create a new job for you! Doesn’t matter what, something new is born out of two sources of love.

You making a “baby?”
