Three of Swords: Step Back

Stepping back and letting go–emotional detachment–looks to be a saving grace in the coming week.

Three of Swords: Step Back 1

Because, ouch. This is the Three of Swords (aka the “heartbreak card,” associated with Saturn in Libra). Applying this message to the world at large, the sense I have is of a change in perspective (and one that cannot be undone). It may or may not involve an actual, physical separation, but a change in perception or thinking (Swords) is part of the mix.

What you perceive is apt to shift in ways that may feel isolating (and are not likely to change). That’s okay–although I cannot promise it will feel comfortable in the process. But it is what it is, you know?

You can soften this up a lot, though.

Don’t look to figure out who is right, or how someone else could be so wrong! That will make you crazy. Don’t take it upon yourself to sell your brand of reality to the world–even to those in your immediate vicinity. Letting all that go will take the edge off.

Nobody’s going to hear you unless they’re already in the neighborhood anyway, and you don’t control that. And everybody has the right to what goes on inside their very own head.

Just invoke compassion. Kindness. When patience starts to wear, then a little detaching and self-care works wonders.

It’s a mighty nice thing, you don’t have to figure anything out for the world. That would be a crap job if ever there was one!

Nine of Cups: Finding Value in Everything

I read an interview with Stephen Colbert, some time ago. And there was a part that really stuck with me.

He ended up as a comedian because of a tragedy. And he says of that, “You’ve got to learn to love the bomb.” The bomb is whatever blew your life up.

You can be grateful for what a bomb gave you, without having wanted it to happen. Those are two different things. They can and do coexist.

It’s Eclipse season, folks. Which you already know, if you’ve not been too “eclisped out” to notice. Big, bold shifts of energy everywhere you look.

And I’m thinking of BIG changes, big shifts. All those big shifts we ride through the years. Some of them are bombs, without question.

How they never turn out to be what you think they are going to be, at the time. How some of the most challenging turn out to define you, help you hone in on who you really want to be, at a depth you’d never found, nor would have been driven to find, outside the experience that spurred it.

And you can’t go back. Not that you’d want to. Not really. But it doesn’t matter, because there is no “back.”

There is only forward. And it’s your choice, what you do with that.

The Nine of Cups is often called “the wish card” and often read as a wish granted (including by me). But today, I want to call it “contentment” instead. And contentment isn’t contingent on any outside condition.

You don’t have to get your wish, to be content. In fact, it has nothing to do with what you have at all, and everything to do with how you’re thinking about it.

Contentment is a perspective, not an outcome. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

So many times, people try to refill their spirit from the outside. Who loves me? Who agrees with me? Who reassures me? Who validates me?

When the conditions of my life better, I’ll be better! When I find someone who will give me what I want, I’ll be happy.

Those kinds of refills are only temporary at best, because the hole is constantly recreated by the doubts that spawned the questions. Of course it feels good when other people shine their love on you! And it feels good when you shine your love on them. But the only way for that love to flow freely is if you are shining on yourself, first.

Stay centered, my friends. Don’t worry about what others think of you, because it’s impossible for that to be about you anyway. And how you feel about it is always and only a translation of how you feel about you. All roads lead home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, always. Always, always, always. There is no other way it can be.

Whatever bombs you have, do your best to appreciate them. Tap into the best of everything it gave you, through your appreciation and loving energy. And in doing so, you get access to the power of it.

Contentment isn’t a destination. It’s a perspective, and it’s accessed entirely by choice. Choosing what you focus on in any given experience, what vein you tap. It’s all there but you can mine what you choose from it.

Be well.

After it Dies: Tarot, May 22 – 28, 2017

There’s that moment, when you just know without question, something in your life is getting ready to implode. It’s a sick feeling in the pit of the stomach, full of fear and uncertainty. It’s unmistakable and inescapable.

Some of us stubborn sorts don’t accept what we haven’t plotted unless we have no choice. (I mean, that’s my theory, anyway. HAR!) But there are those times, no amount of duct tape is gonna hold it together and all you can do is accept.

You accept because you don’t see any other choice.

But so much of the time–dare I say almost always?–that very feeling portends the most direct path to the next, best step. It provides a clarity that the thickest fog of denial cannot obscure. It cleans out the much of what’s not working or ready for transformation.

Even if it’s not what you wanted. Even if you did everything you could think of, to fix and repair and prop up  and mitigate and delay and avoid. Even if you would give anything you could to change it. Sometimes, momentum progresses beyond our ability to steer.

And when that happens? You feel your feelings, and let them flow. And you look for bits to appreciate. Bittersweet as they may be, those nuggets of appreciation you can find in the chaos will save you.

Look for bits to appreciate in chaos. They will save you. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Tarot has sense of humor. Don’t let anybody tell you any different. Last week, it was “Let it Die.” This week? We’re in the grieving process with the Five of Cups.

In this video, I take a very brief look at grief.

Are you feeling this? Because for just a minute more, I’m still offering bulk session time at $50/hour; you use it however and whenever you want. It’s especially nice for my regular folks to save a little or for someone who would like to work with me as affordably as possible. Just Paypal me here with how many hours you’d like to reserve. It’s a minimum of one hour ($50) for this option, please.

And be well out there!

Living the Microcosm: Weekly Tarot, May 1 – 7, 2017

“If you keep telling yourself the exact same stories about this, you’ll keep having the exact same feelings.”

I heard myself saying this to a friend recently. And like most of my best advice, it’s just as (annoyingly) applicable to the me as to the recipient! Maybe moreso, but I’m not gonna quibble either way.

STORIES matter, whether or not they ever find their way out of our mouths.

We craft and evaluate our own stories according to criteria that is better at keeping us stuck than moving us upward and onward. We try to accurately capture the feelings at the time, deepening that emotional groove with each recounting. We list and weigh facts as objectively as we can muster. We may look to persuade, presenting our cases and seeking agreement for our rightness or soundness of reasoning. I get it. It’s human nature and it’s what we have been taught is appropriate in recounting stories.

But you know what? If your stories are very faithful reruns of events you didn’t like, that is EXACTLY the energy you are activating each time that story comes to mind. That energy grows with your focus. Is that really where you want to go?

But what if you rewrote your stories? What we want and what we don’t want in any situation show use the polarities of every subject. Rather than picking up the “don’t want” end and running with it, justifying that repetition because it seems a more “true” version of events, why not shift your focus to only the “wanted” end. That side of the coin is just as real and you can work with it. It also feels a hell of a lot better.

Pretend for a minute that all is well–perfect actually, because it kind of is. Pretend that the Universe works as it should–because honesty, it does. Imagine that it’s not your job to extract any specific outcome, but simply to amplify energy you want in your life courtesy focus, using your feelings as guide to how you’re doing. Because yes, that is exactly how it works.

Keep a check on your stories. Experiment with cleaning them up to better reflect what you want to live instead of what you don’t want to repeat. Right now is a great time to rewrite stories and give them happier endings.

Living the Microcosm: Weekly Tarot, May 1 - 7, 2017 2

This week, don’t try to figure out long term implications for the world at large. Just live your own priorities true.

Oh man. The energy out in the wild has been wonky as Hell, huh? CHARGED. Electric and concentrated and driven. And most of all? Not so easy to predict, in terms out specific outcomes, as in where this rocket is going to light in the end. So don’t.

Here’s my weekly forecast to help give you grounding amidst the buzz.

Tarot Forecast (Video Transcript)

Mayday! Mayday! Incoming Tarot forecast!

Hey. This is Dixie from a fool’s journey. I am here to bring to you the tarot forecast, May 1st through 7th, 2017.

So, just gonna hop right in there. And see what we get.

Okay. Starting off the week, uhhhh. I want to say, I have a feeling of second guessing choices and decisions. Like we’re not, folks are not certain that they’re making a good call. I mean, there’s an orientation that’s very clearly towards the future.

But the emotional tenor of the choices that we’re making or how we’re seeing things play out is a little uncomfortable.

Just going into the beginning of the week. Moving in, I would advise you not to overdo the what-if scenarios. Like well, what if this happens and then that happens and then what if this, you know, if this happens and then that happens and…uh huh. Huh uh. That’s not gonna help.

We’ve got the four of cups, reversed. So don’t go arrrgghh, well you know, this and then this and then this, duttutututu. Because you know that’s how it works out anyway. It never is!

And don’t make everything about, well what’s the greater lesson. Just…sigh. Just look to lock in on what’s important to you and let go of the DETAILS about how that happens or if other people are gonna respect it or if it’s gonna dit-tit-dit-ti-tuh.

Like if setting certain boundaries is very important to you, then set the boundaries and stick to them. If getting along is very important to you, then work to get along and let go of the stuff that doesn’t serve that purpose.

The thing is, focus on the goal, not on the means to get there. Okay? If you do that, the week should go pretty well for you.

Focus on the goal, not the means to get there. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

And for the take-home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, for a take home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, advice/overview, message…I have got the seven of pentacles reversed.

What I want to tell you is that not everything you see is going to have a natural progression to what you, where you think it’s going.

So this predicting the future, that everybody’s doing like, “Oh my gosh. We’re on the road to disaster!” Is not helping. And it’s not accurate! More importantly.

So roll it back and keep your focus in the microcosm, not the macrocosm this week and in terms of where you put your emotional energy and I expect it to go pretty well for you.

I hope that helps. Let me know if it works out for you or if these forecasts are helpful because I need to know whether or not I can keep doing them.

Okay? Take care, peace out from Dixie. Mmmmmmmm. The Zen Goddess. Bye-bye!

Think my hair could be bigger? Because I think my hair could be bigger. It was pretty big right after I fixed it. And then, like, five minutes later, kind of went whoosh.

Ill-informed Urges: Weekly Tarot, April 24-30, 2017

You ever get that itch, to DO something, deal with something right-this-very-second–not so much because you think the issue is ripe for the undertaking, but more because you just want it d-o-n-e-done? That? I call it “crisis mode” and I became well acquainted with the state during custody hearings years ago and many times since, as a parent. Because parenting can be hard.

But really, that urge to “get this shit over with” never really did much helpful that I can tell. Faith goes further.

This week, I’d suggest you soothe yourself and do as little as possible to get immediate relief and nothing beyond that, if you are feeling that way.

Ill-informed Urges: Weekly Tarot, April 24-30, 2017 3

Plenty of Swords in the coming week’s forecast–some worry and clouded presentations to be anticipated. Information isn’t complete or clear cut and the urge to act anyway grows. I’d say don’t do anything drastic, though, because it seems likely it WILL NOT turn out as intended. Force won’t work. Just little seeds you can plant (Ace of Pentacles), some of which may grow up nicely. Mmm’kay?

Faith goes further than force. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

Hi. This is Dixie from A Fool’s Journey. I am here to do your Tarot forecast for April 24th through 30th, 2017.

Okay. Let’s see what we got here. Boom, boom, boom. I’ve got the Gilded Tarot deck. It’s a pretty deck. I love this deck.

Oh goodness. Swords, swords, cups…ah.

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at this, is…sigh. A lot of questionable words going around, and people who think they know what’s going on, but they don’t necessarily know. The truth.

We’ve got King of Swords, Nine of Swords, and Seven of Cups reversed to start. So going into the week there’s a sense of, maybe you were sort of clear on it to begin with, but then you start worrying about it and the guilt sets in.

And there are all these other inputs. Or sources of information that’s just kind of mucking things up. So eh. Be aware of that.

Okay? Moving in, going through the week, I’m seeing this, Seven of Swords reversed, Three of Swords reversed, as a tendency to want to hide what you find, what you think others will find unacceptable.

And not only what you think, but what you feel like. Like somebody, you know, lying to their boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever. Or hiding an expenditure from their spouse. It has that kind of feel to it to me.

And the worry being that there’s not gonna be love or acceptance. That really doesn’t feel very good. We end the week with action, although I don’t know necessarily that it’s inspired action. Because it’s the High Priestess reversed. So the outcome of this is something does happen, but I’m not sure if it’s what we want to happen.

But…to clarify it, I pulled a secondary card on that and I got Ace of Pentacles. So in this, do, do the least that you can.

We’ve got a lot of planets retrograde. It’s kind of a murky, mucky time. So do, do what relieves a little bit of the pressure, but don’t, like, “Okay. This has to be a grand gesture, this is gonna fix everything that’s ever been wrong!” ‘Cause how often does that crap work, anyway? You know?

But in this case, little bit, little bit, little bit, okay? And then for the outcome/advice, I have got Justice reversed. Um, don’t try to force what you consider to be fair, because that will throw you off balance.

Your balance, your happiness, your peace of mind, you comfort level in your own head and in your own life and in your own little circle is THE MOST important thing! That’s your job. It’s not your job to fix your kids or your spouse or your coworkers or your neighbors or your Facebook friends. It’s your job to take care of you! Do what you need to do to do that; let everybody else do their own jobs.

Okay? That’s my forecast for you. I hope it’s helpful. Let me know how your week went. Does this help? Does this, kinda, help keep you in the zone? Let me know.

Take care, peace out from Dix the Zen Goddess. Ommmmmm! Bye-bye.

Mine Vs. Yours: Weekly Tarot, Mar 6 – 12, 2017

The grocery checker looked me up and down.

Are my pants irking her?

Some people don’t approve of fuzzy pants at the grocery. What harm they see in it, I have no clue. It’s not a funeral, for Godssakes. Am I disrespecting the broccoli? I just want some coffee creamer and chocolate-something. Should I have to change clothes for that?

Mine Vs. Yours: Weekly Tarot, Mar 6 - 12, 2017 4

I think not, but you probably guessed as much. Besides. The world needs more color and I’m doing my part.

Doesn’t matter if she likes my pants or not. I’m in her line. So be it.

“I just love your hair!” she says, when it’s my turn up. Oh.

Now, I don’t worry so much about what people think any more–a blessing of age. But there was a time, once upon a self-conscious phase ago, when I chastised myself for wanting to wear fuzzy pants everywhere.

“You just need to grow up!” I’d say sternly inside my head.

“What kind of a person lives their lives in fuzzy pants?” Of course the answer to that is easy enough. The kind of person who really likes fuzzy pants!

My job is to decide what pants suit me that day, and wear them.  Not to bother about outside reaction to the pants. That checking other faces instead of hitting up the mirror is what trips us up.

Soon as you look outside yourself to see how you're doing, you've lost the plot. #OnMyRadar Click To Tweet

This coming week is a lot like that.

Daily Bullet Points

It ain’t touchy-feeling this week, folks. But it doesn’t have to be scratchy-ouchie, either. Up to you, to play the cards as they come.

  • Monday, Eight of Swords. Limitations are self-imposed. In the context of having “scripts,” know people may not play their prescribed roles. Focus on just your own role instead for better outcome.
  • Tuesday, Eight of Wands. The sense of unsettledness is not fun, but short term. Everything is already underway, dude! Chill and let the energy that’s already in motion play out.
  • Wednesday, Five of Wands. Are you fighting? Do you really need to be? Sidestep unnecessary kerfuffle and choose your battles. People have wildly divergent interpretations of the same events.  Respect and let be. Because if you try to force others to become you, it won’t go well.
  • Thursday, Knight of Wands rx. Be wary of acting impulsively. Stay heart-centered, yes. But don’t insist that others understand you. That’s much less important than being you. You stay in your joy without looking for anybody else to validate your excitement.
  • Friday, Six of Pentacles rx. Be generous with assumptions. Assume the best of all.
  • Saturday, Page of Swords rx. Miscommunications and wires crossed. Possibility of bluntness, without malice but misunderstandings and sore feelings are possible. Be aware and you can miss than bus.
  • Sunday, Knight of Cups. Emotionally supportive tone to close the week. Good day to bask in love, in whatever form it exists in your love. Focus on loving feelings

Summing it up: The less you try to control others, situations, and conditions outside yourself, the better off you’ll be. All control starts at home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html. With you, in your own head, I’d add. You know, In case you had already turned your attention to spouse or kids or something…snort.
