10/19/12: Be dependable if not so exciting | King of Hazards

king-pentacles-zombie-tarot-hazardsHe’s solid and dependable. He likes his creature comforts. He may not be an overly exciting date on a Saturday night if you’re a party gal (or guy, whatever), but you know exactly where you stand with him. And you can count on him if you ever need some financial advice, or just a good meal. He won’t cook it, of course, but he knows where to get it!

Who am I talking about? Why, the King of Hazards (Pentacles) of course!

When you see the Tarot court pop up, they either speak to a person, qualities of the card, or aspects of your own personality that match the card. Here, I’m thinking being a good provider—to yourself and your crew—is the way to go.

Be solid. Be true to your word. Care for others, provide. Care for yourself. Walk the extra mile (or shuffle, if you’re a zombie). Finish the job. Attend to all the details and follow it up with a nice, hot bath if you can. At the very least, a good, after-dinner coffee.

Take care of your responsibilities and be the kind of person others can depend on. That’s how you fill the King of Hazards shoes. Not bad qualities to strive for, don’t you think?

Are you dependable?

10/18/12: Change Strategy! | Five of Hazards

Yep, the Zombie Tarot stutters! This is the third repeat from this deck since I started using it here, and I don’t think we’ve drawn even 10 cards!

Here is the Five of Hazards (Pentacles); the woman pictured is going through the trash, looking for something to sustain her.

I don’t think that’s her best approach, do you? That bin looks pretty empty and nothing in the pile before her appears to promising.

If you’re looking for help and support in all the old places (and are NOT getting it), why continue doing the same thing that’s not working for you? It’s a lot like what I used to do, washing socks with holes in them over and over again, feeling disappointed every time I’d pull one of those socks on my feet.

But somehow, I kept washing the same socks over and over, as if they’d miraculously heal in the laundry…

If the support you’re seeking is NOT forthcoming from the places you’ve been seeking it, if the comfort you’ve been provided is full of holes and inferior, LOOK ELSEWHERE already! That doesn’t mean you have no options. It means the option you’ve been doggedly clinging like it’s your last chance ain’t cutting it.

Switch up your strategy if you want a ghost of a chance here. Boo! :ghost:

Do you need to switch strategies?

10/17/12: Inflexible Perspective | Knight of Hazards

And another repeat! Evidently the Zombie Tarot stutters. Har! :ghost:

We’ve got the Knight of Hazards (aka Pentacles), after having crashed into a light pole. No doubt he was carefully surveying some fresh meat alongside the road when he missed the point.

That’s what the Knight of Pentacles often does—misses the point, misses the forest for the trees, misses the boat on what’s important because he’s so wrapped up in what’s not important. I mean, he’s a dedicated worker and all, he’s got mad skills with the details, but you know, he really could stand to lighten up a bit.

Some would even call him obsessive.

A little perspective changes the whole picture. Don’t be so driven about your own objectives that you neglect to account for the landscape. Otherwise, you may find yourself smacked squarely into a stoplight you never saw coming.

And do you notice the spider webs? He’s evidently been parked there a while. Flexibility allows for moving past such roadblocks.

Are you prone to inflexible perspective?

10/16/12: Emerging Hand | Ace of Hazards

ace-hazards-zombie-tarot-cardsPretty fly swag for an undead chick, huh?

The Ace of Pentacles (aka Hazards) shows a great start to manifesting your desires, making your dreams REAL. Yay!

Remember, in the area of Pentacles, we’re talking physical, Earth plane type materialization. There is nothing abstract or ethereal about it.

But like all Aces, we’re also looking at a beginning, not a forgone conclusion. It’s a baby Zombie, coming up. The promise is definitely there, but it only holds as long as you keep up your end of the bargain. She’s going to be hungry when she finishes emerging from the ground. Be ready to feed her.

You’ve got an otherworldly helping hand. Super! Now use it.

Are you seeing promising early results?

10/15/12: Gift or Lure? | Six of Hazards

Well, Hell. I’ve just used this deck for a handful of days here, and already we’ve got a repeat! The Six of Pentacles (or Hazards, in Zombie Tarot speak). So okay! We’re listening, oh mysterious Tarot!

Today, I’m seeing this as a message to look carefully at what you’re being offered. Is that generosity how it’s being billed? Or is someone trying to distract you from your main purpose, with an otherwise undisclosed agenda?

I’m kind of thinking the fellow in the white coat isn’t just being kind—he’s looking to trap our zombie gardener. Maybe he wants to do some experiments, or maybe he’s just looking to save his flowers. I don’t know and the reasons why don’t really matter so much as the knowledge there is a hidden agenda.

If you unexpectedly find a hunk of meat dangling in front of you, use your brains! Follow that line back to the source to consider the implications. It may not be in your best interest to accept charity that isn’t, you know?

So sayth the enlightened Zombie. Because if he follows this advice, he’ll remain to mow down flowers and seek out brains as he pleases yet another day. If not, who can say?

You been seeing “gifts” that aren’t lately?

10/14/12: Straight Aim | Page of Swords

page-swords

Maybe that Zombie was once called Daddy, but it doesn’t mean he’s not a threat right now! Even if he claims he just wants a hug.

Don’t hesitate to react, staying sharp, clear, and utterly unambiguous.  Don’t threaten if you’re not prepared for follow-through. Don’t let sentimentality cause a second’s hesitation, or you’re going to get bitten, too.

Do what you have to do, without apology.

Make any messages to-the-point, and back them up with the axe if you must. You don’t have to like it, but it’s vital there’s no mistaking your hard lines here. No promise of second chances, so get it right the first time. Equivocating will cost you.

You feeling this?
